hello, anyone else have issues with alarms not sounding when setup through spb time ?
the alarm is actually triggered, appears on screen - just no sound !
this has happened several days in a row with diff alarm sounds.
last night i set a normal windows mobile alarm and setup a spb time alarm for 1/2 hour later. They both fired but still no sound from the spb time alarm.
If you know the way around this, can you please post the answer.

SBP Time is not compatible with WM6. They do not list it as being compatible (as they do with some of their products) - see SPB Time Product Page. I have had this issue in the past on WM6 on the Uni and now steer clear of SPB Time except on WM5.
Same here, no sound
ah ok, thanks for pointing out the wm6 compatability issue.
thought it was just me the first couple of days..somehow sleeping through the alarm. when u press the dismis button it does play the sound for a second or two though..crazy.
anyway, at least spb_time displays the time ok as its name suggests it should

Actually, you may find it doesn't display the correct time. I found it is sometime a minute or so behind (as sometimes is the clock on the taskbar in WM6)!!!
Anyone have a suggestion for an alarm clock program with will work??
the standard wm6 alarms work fine, whilst u can use spb to display time on the today plugins
Have you tried the "Wakeup Tweak" (on the options page)?
Works fine for me here.

Interesting. I had the same problem with or without the tweak. I'm currently trying out Chronos by ActiveSync which is working well, but they don't have the nice Today plug-in like SPB time...
works fine here, no probs, wakeup tweak enabled
have never missed any alarm.
indeed, time lags a few seconds

I had a weird thought... I know I enabled wakeup tweak but it still didn't work. Now I'm thinking probably should have done a reset in between, otherwise did the tweak really install... Will try again and report back.
How is that possible. Mine also has no sound, whether the wake up tweak is enabled or disabled. Do you use wm06?
Applied tweak, reset, still no sounds.
hope the following will help. this is what i have done in my htc x7500
1. in spb time options, wake up tweak enabled.
2. spb time screensaver disabled
3. wm6 settings, sounds and notifications, check events (warnings, system events), programs notifications (alarms, reminders)
4. wm6 alarms all three disabled.
5. in wm6 power options, uncheck power off device if not used for xxx minutes, for both battery and ac power
6. in wm6 backlight options, do what you like.
then soft reset ( i do it after i make any changes)
hope it works now for you
however
i will make a video to show you it works and upload it to youtube, will be tonight though, still at work
i fact will make a video with all the settings i use. the latest version of spbtime worked
from day 1 i installed it with the dopod wm6 rom.
now i use pk2, which is based on the same rom
just give me some time, will be around midnight, local time, athens , greece
please give me feedback if with the above settings, the spb alarm workrd

With regards to step 5, won't this have a negative impact on battery life???

so far, battery lasts 3 days this way. you are certainly right that with the power off checked the battery life will increase dramatically, but for the sake of the spb alarm, this is how it works for my x7500.
have the settings i use in my x7500 solved the spb alarm problem?

I already have battery issues. I tried everything but step 5, with no success. Apparently that is the key. I have gone back to Chronos, which isn't quite as nice but at least it works without a battery drain...
wgary, just to let you know that with the official htc rom wm6 (europe) and without any tweaks (apart from the spb tweak in its options), spb functions normally.
could it be an issue of dopod rom? do not know...
or maybe the use of other programs may interact with spb time?
just a thought... have you tried the wm6 fix sound? just in case? ( look for it in pk 2 thread)
this is really weird stuff man...

sorry for not uploading the video on time, had little time and probs with pc
will do so as soon as possible
Please try updating your version of SPB Time to the latest version. I did some forum spelunking and found that they had a new version that fixed this problem. My friend and I just tried it on our Tytns and it worked for both of us... even with the phone in standby!
Good luck.
First of all i would like to thank all you chef's for the great menu you provide
Tastes are incredibly smooth and you use fresh ingredients all the time
What else could i ask?
On the second thought i can ask something
I have become irritating asking the same question in differnet roms
Maybe it is a problem in my touch pro
Why does my clock lose synchronisation?
One moment all ok and suddenly time stays stuck...
I repair it and all is good again
But suddenly this happens again
An one more thing
In some roms while i use gmt+2 athens it changes it by itself in [email protected]@#@ something i cannot remember
Thank you for the time you took reading it and for the time you take making these great roms
p.s
Maybe there are more with the same problem
If there are please state it to see that i am not alone in this cruel world
Me too
I am also facing the same issue nowadays. I am using RRE23016v3Manila ROM version. This is a new issue i got after flashing this.
wrong clock too
I have the same problem too with the clock..and all the appointments'time becoming error too..
This issue is solved in Manila 2.1. You can also fix it with this.
Ok with time zone
But i do not lose 1 hour
I lose 20 minutes for example
it is not a timezone problem
I saw this answered by deksels in another thread. Here is deksels answer:

Clock gets out of sync
Like others here, I face the same problem. At a certain moment I will loose sync of time. The amount the clock is off varies per event.
It is not a DST issue, but something else.
It seems that it occurs randomly, but mostly after an event (alarm or reminder) occured.
Any one any suggestion what is happening here?
Although it is claimed that the issue has been solved with Manila 2.1, it is still occurring sporadically. The only way to fix it is to set the clock right in Settings -> Clock & Alarms. Just do not touch the big clock in TF3D ;-)
Cheers...
and when i touch it when i talk on phone???
lol that's what i thought it was the problem
Wrong clock
i also experienced the same problem...it's not about timezone or manila.i use energy rom 3.0...it's so irritating when you realize you are late for something important as the clock stuck at certain time..maybe i should buy a watch someday

I'm having a similar issue and it's using 6.5 without Manila. The clock appears to stick and when I "tab" the power button to turn on the display, only then does it suddenly try to update the time on the display and it usually 1 - 2 minutes behind or forward on the Titantium/CHome Clock app than the "Top Bar" clock. This also causes issues when an alarm is set and goes off. Dismissing the alarm will sometimes cause the time to suddenly reverse one minute so the next minute, the alarm sounds again. This morning, it looped 3 times!
Hi,
I am currently using this outstanding phone and really love it except for the fact that the aholes at HTC didnt want to release a WM 6.5 ROM upgrade for it, but hey thats another story.
Perhaps my biggest annoyance is that much like my old Diamond, the Notification LED on the Dpad which flashes when a notification event occurs cannot seem to be customized or set to flash indenfinately until the notification event has been looked at.
Is there anyway to hack the registry or something so that it stays on till the notification has been looked at?
Thanks
First of all, thank you for your interest and feedback! Mostly due to your request I want to present you a new version.
Version 1.25 changelog:
1. Added Connections on/off
2. Added alarm - poor one
Version 1.20 changelog:
1. Added new profiles: WiFi on/off, Bluetooth (BT) on/off, Phone on/off. Added also Soft Reset.
2. Some minor changes.
Version 1.10 changelog:
1. Added half-hours (I think quarters are too much).
2. Hour format (24 or 12) is automatically changed depending on your regional settings.
3. I don't have VGA device, but I think now the screen is squeezed a bit so it can fit to VGA square screen. Please, try and tell me what happens.
4. Added sound profiles - low, medium, high and very high.
5. Number of settings increased from 4 to 15.
Please, download TProfiler120.CAB for latest version.
Automatically switches device sound mode(available profiles - sounds on, sounds off, vibrate, volume low, medium, high, too high), turns on/off wifi, bluetooth, phone mode and soft resets at selected hour and weekday and thus saves your battery power. Simple application, doesn't occupy memory. Tested only on HTC HD2 but should work on other devices too (TP2, Touch HD/Blackstone - tested thanks to replies to this thread).
It works fine on TP2
Great application.
It would be great if it had also a 24-hour mode .
It would also be great if we could set the device to change to a certain volume on the Ring and System. I like to turn my phone down to 2 notches on both of those and crank it back after 5pm.

Great application !
Feature request: time in quarter/half hours too.
You might want to add some additional 'rules'. If you have a different time schedule for every day in the week, 4 just aren't enough...
Awesome
Been waiting for a free app like this. The Connective Tools one is nice, but I love the continuing user driven development of XDA. The suggestions on here are great and I echo the setting the volume to a custom level and the quarter/half hours things.

+1 though 5 min time slots would be better. Are going to try and integrate the App so it will switch on calendar appointments?
just installed 1.10 on my HD, but when I start the app it alerts "Doesn't exist", and after tapping 'ok' the app doesn't respond anymore, actually the complete screen doesn't respond. Using the hardwarebuttons I can go back to my homescreen and then using the system taskmanager I can shut the app down after that everythings fine..
anybody got an idea? because it looks like a useful app to me
Dear Xsite3,
I think you had to wait for a while - when started first time the application takes more time (1-2 minutes).
Just installed v1.1 on my HD2 and i get the message attached. Any ideas?
When I try to start up TProfiler I get a message box that simply says "Doesn't Exist". After that I can click on the TProfiler icon all day long but nothing happens. Wonder what doesn't exist?
V 1.10 crashes for me
I was using version 1.00 with no problems on my HTC Fuze running WM 6.5. But version 1.10 crashes on startup with this error:
TProfiler.exe
InvalidCastException

Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.Conversions.ToInteger()

at
System.Windows.Forms.Form._SetVisibleNotify()
at
System.Windows.Forms.Control.set_Visible()
at
System.Windows.Forms.Application.Run()
at DeviceApplication1.Module1.Main()
The app appears to draw at least a portion of it's window, and then crashes, though it goes by too quickly to see just how much of it is drawn
I really like the app. I especially like the addition of half hours in this version, if I can get it to work.

Problems
Fellows, sorry for keeping you waiting - Please, try now - it should work.
Update on 24.12.10 - My phone hasn't frozen or switched off on it's own since I made these changes! The battery life constantly stays real good. I have only charged my battery up to 100% TWICE in 4 days!! I think this trick works! I will really appreciate if more testers come forward and help us test this
What will this mean?
This will mean that we can make TG01 battery stay minimum of 24 hours and maximum upto 38-40 hours with good amount of browsing, calls, texts, games, ALSO keep exchange sync on forever!!
In total before my battery completely died, I was able to do the following:
2357 minutes of stand-by (includes the activities as well)
137 minutes of browsing
3 Downloads (total less than 10MB)
180 minutes of calls
36 text messages
21 email downloads using Exchange sync - that was ON all the time
60 minutes of gaming
18 pictures taken using camera
12 minute video recorded using camera
1 round of back up and virus scan
This is what I've done:
Installed SPB Shell here
Removed Taskbar (was a cab file in miROM4 that I am using)
Removed Start Menu (I have attached cab that I used to remove start menu)
Before you remove start menu or taskbar - PLEASE make sure you have full functioning SPB Shell installed. You will loose WinMo start menu and notifications (see attached pic) so you will rely solely on SPB Shell ONLY
On miROM4 by removing start menu and taskbar the original free RAM (96MB) increases upto 105+MB - I don't know how, I don't know why. This is my observation and testing! When you install SPB Shell, you will notice the RAM going down to 78-80MB on boot. - I don't think it's bad either.
Now you might wonder what's so different.
Someone did an experiment showing that by running apps the battery drain was 20% compared to stock ROM
Another experiment also led to show that battery drain mostly is not a ROM issue
I am no tech, I am no expert. This is my pure observation and my experimentation with TG01. I know the links I've quoted are for HTC mainly, but I suppose theory still stays. If any one is willing to replicate those experiments on their TG01 please feel free to collaborate with me.
I have updated all my uses on TG01 between 100% battery and 0% battery.
After 100% charging the battery,
Just to re-fresh what I have done with it apart from leaving it on 'stand-by'
I am running SPB Shell with it.
Using Opera 10 browser for facebook, bing, google (approx browsing 97 minutes till now)
I have read news on Evening standard and BBC (approx time 35 minutes till now)
I have downloaded recipe for 2 cocktails
I have made 6 (appox. 147 minutes in total) phone calls
I have sent 31 text messages
My active sync is on since 10pm as I have set my exchange email retrieval 'as item arrives' - so it has downloaded 14 email items at different times. Experiments have shown that results are quite bad when it comes to using Exchange Active Sync schedule 'as item arrives'
I have played Sudoku (about an hour)
I have left my backlight at 70% (on SPB you have an option)
My battery life after 18 hours 30 minutes is 80% with free ram of 78-80% without any processes running i.e. on stand-by!!
1 call (33 minutes long)
5 text messages
2 games (56 minutes total) of puzzle
Facebook using Opera 10 (updated status, replied few messages, browsed mainly)
Downloaded tube map from a website using Opera 10
Took about 18 pictures using TG01
Cleaned RAM, Virus scanned and did an online back up.
After 27 hours 22 minutes - my battery life remaining is 50%
Made 0 phone calls, 0 texts
My active sync downloaded 7 emails
I checked XDA website for about 20 odd minutes using Opera 10
I used facebook for 10 minutes using Opera 10
I recorded a video of length 12 minutes
All this time my wifi and data connections were switched 'ON'
39 hours 17 minutes - my battery is 0% and my TG01 switched off!!
Putting all these links together, I think if ROMs don't affect the battery drain, but by removing these two elements if my phone survives in adverse conditions i.e. exchange email (shown above link) and running apps/games (shown above link) - then it had to be either of these two elements or settings behind them that drain our TG01's battery!
EDIT: Yes, Oly after removing taskbar, when we press on 'Start button' it freezes the mobile. We don't need to remove battery to get rid of the freeze. Just few seconds and it comes back to normal. But to avoid that occuring, I used the attached cab. That cab removes start menu from the face of my WinMo. PS: This cab is NOT my creation. I have found it on XDA. ALL the credit for this cab goes to NRGZ28 - this cab will prevent making RegEdits

I had DarkNinja task bar pre installed as cab from miROM4 - I removed it. It sort of 'disables' the start menu, but after that I removed start menu using one of the 'remove start menu keep x button' cabs and then eventually even removed 'x' button most programs respond to <- key at bottom.
I could attach cabs if you want but basically removing taskbar will remove all your icons on top and just leave the clock - it makes SPB Shell look nicer as well!
It been 27 hours and 21 minutes as I type and my phone's battery is 50%. I am going to edit the amount of tasks I have done in these 27 hours.

Hi Oly,
I am using stock toshiba as well - the one that came with my phone.
Did you remove the taskbar too? I am meaning to upload a screenshot of how my phone looks without taskbar. I am inclined to believe it's got something to do with removal of taskbar more than removing start menu. I have tried removing start menu on it's on and I had same result - Opera 10, draining 10% every 20 to 30 minutes of browsing.
I had desire taskbar installed as cab, I removed it! I am going to get some screen shots in first post
Hi Drupad,
Nice thread!! One thing I noticed was that disabling the start menu also gives 15-20mb free ram and it significantly improves battery life, disabling the sleep mode led and turning on wifi when not needed also helps!
P.S: After disabling windows start menu, I overided it with SPB Menu which is now my default Start Menu!

Hmmmm... I wonder how the taskbar removal makes a big impact on the battery life! I can understand the start menu, basically all your icons in the start menu are cached into the ram, so removing it will consume less resources , more battery life etc etc. But how doesit work with the taskbar? Im using the stck taskbar on Mangosora's 6.5.3 build with spb shell + mobilesense.

Use the reg tweak to make the start button disappear (like the HD Mini)

Probably, the battery difference is due to the start menu alone and not the taskbar because he removed both.

Thanks!! I liked what I was experimenting and I thought more than 1 person analyzing what all these means, obviously made more sense
Yeah even Oly suggested he had free RAM (15MB) on disabling start menu so am sure about RAM now. I did use Wifi most of the time as well as data connection when I used Opera 10 for browsing. Did not disconnect data connection because it reconnected immediately - reason being my exchange sync set to 'retrieve as item arrives'
My start menu is SPB Menu as well Looks cooler, non-WinMo sort as well

I don't know if taskbar has got much to do with battery, but I did see quite a few reg-entries i.e. magnification etc - do they relate to taskbar? By removing taskbar, do I essentially switch these flickers off? Do you think anything i.e. notifications etc are being cached in ram as well? (non-educated guess!)

I have attached the cab in first post - this is the one I used to get rid of 'start' button completely. Yes my phone did freeze for few seconds to upto a minute, but came back to normal as soon as my screen locked! But after this cab, no problem at all! I think you can definitely have SPB menu as start menu - as it has got everything you need! I have 6.5.3 miROM4 as well and I was able to do it and use it flawlessly. I will try to put some more screenshots

If you guys see any changes by removing taskbar (if you are going to ) then please post back, may be we could be improving our battery lives

My start menu is SPB Menu as well Looks cooler, non-WinMo sort as well
Thanks Oly!
I will try to put some more screenshots

hi drupad! sorry i had a typo in my other post... i was meant to say i can sucessfully disable the start menu on 6.5.3/6.5.5 , but i cannot get it to open up the spb menu in the spb settings. there is no option for it... i will try and post screenshots soon! also i have been using this technique for months and having noticed a battery performance increase because i thought it was to do with the ROM i changed from ... i guess it does make a big difference! i will try and disable my task bar and report back! im not to sure if disabling the task bar stops your notifications caching in the RAM. perhaps someone else could help us out?
hi drupad ! just reading through your first post again, the guy who created the cab is NRGZ28. he is one of the most respected members of XDA! he creates his energy rom series for like all htc devices and updates them all once a week!

Thanks a lot for that mate will update first post tonight when I reach home! I wish more users could test this and give feedback.
I might have just made this battery issue 'not so severe' any more with these observations!!
Another thing I just realized is I haven't restarted my phone at all - The last time I switched off my phone was when I completely ran out of battery during this 'experiment'!
My phone seems to have stopped freezing. Its 4th day now!!

Hi.
I do not belive in miracles in electricty area but decided to sacrifice myself and test miROM4. I remove wm start by mirolg .cab "miROM_MMLauncher_Mod_Startmenu_Replacement.cab" and removed "Dark NInja Android xxxxxx". I did only "natural" test so far, by configuring SPB for my purposes
what took several minutes of time and battery has lost 20% . ( in my appinion quite normal for 1000mAh battery because of backlight was still on and few minutes of GPRS and Wi-Fi was done and this is what I observed on any ROM I tested so far).
Anyway, now I am charging battery to 100% and will do some more tests.
What annoy me after removing task bar is that I have not any information whether I have active GPRS or Wi-Fi connection and I have not any speed mechanism to disconnect ( what could be done very simply via notification bar). Have You got any idea what to with it ? Maybe SPB has any widget for it ?

Hi fxdjacentyfxd
I din't really look into monitoring speed of connections. I used widgets to mIake sure how much battery I have, if I am connected to wifi or not. When I was connected to data connection - I just checked if I am connected or not by using 'Connections' in the settings.
I am keeping my backlight at 30% now most of the time. I have seen even 10% makes it better, but my eyes don't really like that dark so I keep it 30%. May be that will help as well?
I have used it this way since - and also changed to miROM10 now, and still don't charge my battery at least before 30 hours of use! - which I find to be good battery life for daily smart phone use
Good luck and thanks for trying this, will wait for your feedback

Some software are able to connect via GPRS automatically and disconnect too after exit ( Palringo ) but most of them not. So I would like to have such fast way to disconnect ( I did not check - battery is still charging in shutdown - but mentioned "Connections" have not ability to disconnect from GPRS ?. As I remember there are three fields Phone, BT and W-Fi. Wi-Fi shows connected or not and one can switch-off wi-fi . It is not the same as as disconnect but better this than nothing.
Phone only shows that whole GSM radio is on not GPRS connection.
Anyway, maybe You know any kind of software that allows to manage GPRS-Wi-Fi. It does not has to be in upper bar. It is enough I will put it on SPB window.

Yes in my oppinion ( I was dealing with other "small" devices like PNA and PDA ) backlight is factor thar can dramatically make battery live longer. No wonder , it requires a lot of energy.
I guess that You ensured very good conditions for Your experiemnts. I mean very good quality of GSM and Wi-Fi signal which may cause the transcievers on tg01 could work with low power. It is in my oppinion second main factor. In bad conditions GSM can "eats" even 1-2 W of power.

Do You want to say that with miROM10 You have the same good result as with miROM4 without removing task bar and wm menu ?
Recently I tested miROM11 ( as mirolg said there are only minor changes in comparison to miROM10 ) but I am rather disappointed. Not stable. Eats battery as any other ROM.
