Owner information? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have just bought an unlocked T-Mobile version of HD2. I have not seen a way to enter my owner information - something required for registration key of a lot of software. Is this deliberately left out of the T-Mobile ROM? What am I missing?

maybe this:

or this:

or
perhaps google

Another way
You can unhide Owner information function in Registry
Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Owner\Hide
in the registry and change the 1 to a 0
Do a soft reset
Now go to Settings>All Settings>Personal
Here you will find the previously missing file "Owner Information".

You mean where this information is stored on the device? It's not in a file, but in the system registry. The registry is a database Microsoft windows systems since Windows 98 keep to store configuration information.
I'm too lazy now to go find the key in the registry. Simply use a registry editor to search for you last name after you set it in the owner information, and it will pop up.
owner info
What I am referring to is the Owner Information page when you check the box at the Owner Information at Settings.
Can we customize the design ?

Missing Ext_Rom....Please help!!!!!

Good evening;
I have a problem with my new Vodafone v1605, I unlock the ext_rom and quite perfectly. But one of the times that remove a program that was installed gave to me a mistake of which the memory was full, and since then already I do not have access to it and it does not appear in the information of the system either it (has disappeared).
I had done a hard reset and the files that there in it if they established themselves but there is no way of being able to accede of to be able to see the version. Someone can help me with this problem?.
Thank you and a greeting to all
PD. SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH, I'M FROM SPAIN.
Same here on my Vodafone HT626F..
Unlocked/Mounted extrom, it was properly accessible from the
beginning.
Then after 10 days or so the screen alignment problem appeared,
I decided to do a hard-reset. Since then I'm not able to
unlock/mount the extrom anymore, not with the cabs around here,
nor using fit4cat tool.
I also tried soft-reset before the extrom stuff gets installed
(so extrom is still there and all the cabs are present), still the
same, it's not possible to unlock it.
Anyway I'm thinking to replace the damn thing, since screen
alignment drives me crazy, so I'm not looking further into this
problem
does it install after hard reset?
What do you have in this registry keys?
HKLM\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\EXT_FLASHDRV
HKLM\System\StorageManager\Profiles\EXT_FLASHDRV
EXT-ROM
Hello, any ideas?.
Anyone have the same problem?
Thanks in advance.

Try importing the attached reg file and see if it fixes the problem.
Thank you for your support
Now I can see HKLM\System\StorageManager\Profiles\EXT_FLASHDRV, but my extended ROM is still locked. Any other solution?

VT_Engine_23818_ext.CAB

Hi all
I seem to have a problem with my unlocked m3100
A friend ran VT_Engine_23818_ext.CAB on my 3100 and now I can't seem to download my e-mail. . .
See attached
It’s showing a "U" by the phone connection - not G, or 3G as precious
Would like to back it out / uninstall, by it doesn't give me the option
Any help / advice / commiserations gladly accepted
Paddy
Have you tried editing the registry?

Alas, tried that, but I think it has messed around with more than the registry
& begining to wonder if a full reset might not be the best solution
if at all
Isn't it listed in Add/Remove as an "Customisation Tool" or something like that?

Loss Of EvDo After Upgrade

Hey Folks,
Been trying to find solutions to generate my HDR/EvDo password after flashing the rom.
Found this solution on another forum

Im not sure if this will work but here is how i got the EVDO passwords.
Do a full 20 megabyte memory dump and use hex editor to search for "secret". you should see a section with 2 "secret" places... the 16 bytes after a 10 are the password. take those 16 bytes and enter it in PST programming in hex and should be a ok. This was done on a phone that had connected to EVDO before, if i remember correctly a non-connected phone would not have that password yet. You can try to ##RTN# or ##DATA# and do a reset if it will calculate that field to the phone before connecting.
Let me know if that works for you.

What program or programs are required to do the memory dump?
Seems easy enough but just need a step by step method to follow this solution.
Cheers

Not sure about your Carrier but usually you just need to run the Carrier Cab and dial *228 to do the OTA programming and it should get it going with out needing to find the password.
unfortunately we dont have that option for my carrier which is
Telecom New Zealand.

Bandswitch

So, when I get to the license menu, it asks for name and serial number. How do I enter my name and what serial number do I use?
Thanks for such a newbie question.

After using the program for over a month, I was just randomly asked this by my device. Entering the serial number (behind the battery) did not do a thing. I tried deleting the bandswitch program from the program list (settings, delete programs). nothing. (I am not getting ANY connections)
I tried a system restore using SPB backup saved about 3 weeks ago. Tried backing up from an even further restore point with SPB backup.
nothing.
Connection manager cannot find ANY connections. unable to manually configure network. using At&t simcard never had a problem til now. everything was great. WHAT HAPPENED!?
I can't use my phone at all. I'm gonna have to wait until I get home and reflash/reinstall ROM to start fresh. But I really shouldnt have to (!). checked with at&t/cingular (california, usa) no problems with towers or anything on their end.
wtf.

You need to buy the license to get it, from the website..
Then need to enter the Owner Info (name). This menu is hidden by default. U need tweak to enable Owner Info. U can use BsB Tweak from here.
The owner name i located in Setting Tab >> Menu >> All Setting >> Personal >> Owner Info.
Actually, there's several alternative to Bandswitch which is free. U can use WMLongLife (search it) which have more option. Or u can add 3G Enable Comm Manager (to enable/disable 3G) and in combination with Advanced Configuration Tool (to get disconnect idle connection setting).
Bandswitch is not freeware. Install Touch Tools instead. It has an option for auto-disconnecting data, among other options.
