Hi everyone!
I would just like to receive some user experience since I haven't found anything on the net or forums.
The thing is, my HD2 (HSPL 3, Radio 2.12.50, ROM Energy 6.5), after months of tests and fun, freezed as usual (like a normal WinMo) but this time did not start up after a battery removal ( or a soft reset button).
The first two startups were followed by an 8 vibrates code than nothing. I've removed a battery and tried to boot again but this time nothing happened.
The only action I can hear is the starting of the vibration motor while trying a Hard reset. No charging, no leds are working nothing.
Seems that BIOS encounters an error and stops, but where can I find to what error the 8 vibs code is related?
Any help, resolved identical story or information would be highly appreciated.
bootloader is work ?
Hi, thanks for your reply,
Can't exactly tell you if the boot is summarized before or after a bootloader starts.
From my point of view, it seems that he freezes on some BIOS check.
I tried to boot in both normal mode and hard reset but he freezes even before the screen is loaded. He only starts to vibrate (makes a little noise) than nothing.
I hope it's a hardware problem not some junky app that damaged the BIOS (if any)/xSPL so that I can even try to use my guarantee hoping that they will not know what kind of OS I have on it.
Regards
I've had the same issue but I think mine vibrated 7 times. After pulling the battery and letting it cool a few min it fired up fine.

Yeah, seems it is some kind of an overheating issue. I've tried to cooled it down but seems that the heat already damaged something.
I've put it on reparation under warranty. Just crossing fingers they will not find out about the cooked ROM or the HSPL that was on it..
Anyway, thanks for helps guys. Will keep you updated about the resolution if any.
Regards
I too have this issue.
1 vibration when phone powers on, followed by 7 vibrations in a row (8 in total)
It seems to happen whenever I use Android for extended periods of time (15min+ Android freezes and then when resetting it occurs) and is becoming more frequent.
Worked out that it was heat related, but not sure if its worth restoring windows and returning for warranty repair. Are there any easy ways to replicate in Windows? How did you go cthulhu0dyssey with the warranty repair did it solve your issues?
Also can anyone point me into the right direction on the easiest way to restore windows on the device, if that is what I end up having to do?
SPL: 2.08.HSPL (HSPL3)
ROM: Energy Leo COM2
Radio: 2.15.50.14
Android: MCCM SE V3.4 (SD) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841644)

Would be really convenient to try helping you with this problem if you specify your ROM, Radio, SPL, Android version/type (SD/NAND).

Sorry, knew I forgot something, edited original post. Another thing to add is that when it happens if I pull the battery out and wait a couple of mins it powers on fine and boots into Windows/Android with no problems.
Just thought I'd send a follow up post.
I removed Android and loaded back windows mobile. After a while it just keeps rebooting until the phone will no longer turn on until it cools down.
Heat seems to be the cause. Guess its back to the shop!
Just thought I'd add an additional comment to say I got the phone back from repair, reinstalled android and now the problem has gone away.
Update here!
Hi guys,
Same here, Leo came back form the repair (completely new hardware + SPL 3.03) saying that there was an known issue with one conductor. Whatever...
Was glad to find out Cotulla rolled-out HSPL 4 so I can finally enjoy Android from internal memory, though I hope overheating issues were solved 'cos I don't think they'll give me a warranty repair for the 4th time ...

I recently had a problem with my XDA 1. It started running VERY VERY slowly (kind of like a computer that was infected with 10000 spyware programs). The battery was constantly showing that it was going to shutdown but yet seemed to still operate.
I tried doing a backup to SD Card while it was on the cradle, yet after about 4 minutes of usage it would automatically soft reset - interrupting the backup.
So i thought stuff it, i don't care about the data i will just do a hard reset. Now, after doing the hard reset i can't even get it to turn on. The O2 Screen comes up and the light flashes on and off every few seconds. It does this for about 45 seconds then switches off again.
Does it sound like the mainboard is gone? Could it just be the battery? Are there any home repairs ideas? I do have a second xda i can pull apart if i must to test what is wrong with this one.
Thanks.
Adrian
boot problem
if a desktop pc were to exhibit these sort of problems then i would definitely suspect a motherboard problem. if you are still under warranty then straight back to the store is the place for you. if not then scour the forums for solutions fixes or suggestions, there are some very experienced people on here - not me -
ian
since it's still under warrenty I strongly advice to replace it or at least to get it repaired by the center ... but if you tend to feel it's a challenge for you to fix it your self, then you may do the following to eleminate the possibility of S/W problem ...
1. Flash the ROM with a new OS image. This should solve any ROM problem.
2. Make sure you didn't turn on the "Calib/Debug" option in the GSM menu of the boot loader.
BTW, was the radio part OK while having this problem ?
actually its not under warranty, i bought it off a friend when he upgraded to his XDA II. Im not sure what the radio version was, i jsut put any details in there because i couldnt boot to find out what it was at.
Can you flash the rom without having to boot it up? Are there the instructions on how to do it on this site?
Thanks.
has anyone come across the problem that when you move to say 3g from gsm or back or you loose signal as your in a bad signal area and then get it back, the phone actually looses the radio says "operation failed" and relocks on to the signal?
mine will sometimes loose the signal need restarting and on the boot screen will show NOGSM when its clearly installed as it worked 20seconds ago. i have tried many types of radio rangeing from 1.07 to 1.41 and all their varients. i am at a loss why my phone just looses it and then forgets it has actually lost it untill i try to make a call or send an sms. no calls or sms's can be received by me whilst the phones done this and it does it a hell of a lot.
sometimes it also just looses the radio half way through a call or data call.
anyone got any ideas?
i have a m3100
IPL 1.04
bootloader 2.10oli
and the XDA live OS installed. however it does it on any OS i have tried so far. and thats alot of them.
Same for me.
Same problem for me.
Often I get the message "operation failed" or "the phone is not ready, wait 15 seconds and try again". Thought it was a problem with the new 1.38 radio, but it seems to be something different.
i also get all those error msg's. i have no idea how to fix it either and no 1 here seems to have a clue either :-(
i Had the same problem with mine it due to hardware i guess. Your phone might have fell down or something then this kind of problem starts I fixed mine by opening my phone up and fixed the arial part properly

is there a guide you follow for that or can you give me any tips to do it myself?

I fixed my phone almost the same way as Torrentulla did. I'm my case it seems that something was damaged when I dropped my phone a few weeks back. I discovered that when I pushed at a spot right below the flashlight that the radio kept coming up all the time.
These are the steps I took to repair:
Remove all 4 screws (very small torx) at the back of your hermes
Remove back
Put a little piece of paper on the "pressure" spot
Put your phone back together
Turn it on and enjoy!
I hope you'll manage to fix yours aswell!
Phone sometimes shows No GSM, fails to ring
Hey guys, I posted this in the dead hermes thread, but decided to post it here as it's not really bricked. I think it may be a faulty component or something.
My phone was working fine this morning, then in the afternoon I noticed I would have to try to make a call 3 or 4 times before it would go through, it kept on giving me the error (Can't connect, or something along those lines).
Then, I checked my voicemail and found that I had 10 messages from people who had been trying to get in touch with me, but my phone hadn't been ringing.
The kicker came when I soft reset my phone and all of a sudden No GSM popped up! I soft reset it again, and it was gone, and worked fine for a couple of hours. Now its back to not ringing again.
I flashed radio 1.41.00.10 about a week ago, and have been running fine with no problems since. I haven't flashed any rom's in the past week, and this problem just started yesterday. No new software has been installed (except Pimp my black v0.1).
I don't know a lot about the radio, but I didn't think it could become corrupted during regular use, I thought you could only mess it up when you were flashing the phone. I wonder if there is something wrong with the radio? Could the hardware be faulty? This phone is about 8 months old and hasn't had any problems up to this date.
I'm going to flash radio 1.40.10.0 again and see if that makes a difference, but I'd like to know if anyone has any ideas as to what could be causing this.
Sorry this post was so long,
Thanks
-Kai
it seems i don't have a pressure point on mine as the radio is working as and when it likes. which is not alot
gotta sort it out somehow, will take it apart and see if theres anything obvious.
I have the same problem too, phone sometimes shows NO GSM on startup and sometimes it works. Here's where I posted : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=306073
Now its not even showing NO GSM it just says: NONE, NONE
Also, I noticed that it will only last about 6 hours on a full charge before the battery is absolutely dead.
I'm beginning to think that it may be my radio 1.41.00.10
It seems strange that all of these people are suddenly having this problem now.
Whats the warranty like on these devices? Is it a 1 years parts and defects warranty? Or is it some ****ty 90 day warranty?
As it is my phone is a piece of garbage, not worth using at all, I am very disapointed in it.
It's a hardware problem.
Hi guys,
I'm experiencing the same problems since two months and I've been struggling with all kind of OS, ROM, RADIO and bootloader, without even gettin close to solve them.
My phone randomly loads the RADIO (otherwise I get the "No Gsm" message), even when loaded, the connection is not suitable and my phone is often unreachable on the net. The battery life is very short because the phone always looses the signal and then seraches till he find it, before loosing it again.
So I disassembled my phone and did a lot of testing with hardware connections. I have found that the motherboard connection with the flash/scroll module isn't stable at all. You can easily move it and find that this affects the phone ability to load the RADIO. It seem strange but it's true. I can't solve the problem and I'm very upset with HTC because of their hardware components lack of quality. I would like to try to change the module to but I can't find a place where i can buy HTC hardware parts.
So I'm going to change my pda, I'll never buy HTC anymore.
Any help?
Has anyone figured out the problem? If it is hardware, what "pressure" spot is it? I tried, but wondered if I'm not in the right place.
In my case it was a spot right below the flash/scroll-part. As said earlier, i put a piece of paper on the spot and reassembled the phone. It still works excellent after a week!
My dopod can't connect to the mobile network as well, but only with the 3 network. It seems fine when being connected to an Optus network. Have you guys tried using a different network simcard?
I'm not sure if mine is a physical problem but maybe a setting which i need to configure so i can connect to a 3 network. Help anyone?
ROM version : Pro BLACK 3.0
ROM date : 01/04/07
Radio version : 1.41.00.10
mine also works just under the flash with the cover off, but if i hold it too hard then the screen goes all white and doesn't work, until i can get the case off its a hit and miss game at the moment.
thanks very much for the tips and help

I cannot agree with this more.
I am sick to death of this phone. I had one of the first in the country for normal sales and spent weeks arguing with HTC who flatly denied the screen alignment issue. EVENTUALLY I got them to fix this after referencing posts in this forum.
I continued to suffer the "coma" software issue - why is it so F*((&&^ dificult for a device to wake up when its auto-sleeped?
And finaly, to top it off, I have been suffering this problem. I cannot express how mad I am. Did I buy a cheap phone? NO. I have had nothing but problems with this phone and will NOT buy another HTC.
Oh and if anyone knows how to repair a failed Radio upgrade, please help me! I don't have any choice but to use it until the IMate Ultimates come out.
Due to seeing this radio problem I thought I would try downgrading the radio from 1.4.summint or other (the latest) to a slightly older version. This was of course before I saw this thread. During the downgrade the installer stopped at 15%. Now no matter what I do it sits at the IPL/SPL screen (3 colour bars+white). I have done the obvious i.e. follow the installers error procedure (remove the battery).
Device: HERM200
IPL-1.04
SPL-2.10.Olipro
Please help me be able to use this for another month or two at most - i hope!
Thanks guys
update:
OK Guys
thanks to this thread: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Unbrick
I now have it trying to boot the o/s. I get the message "No GSM" on the boot screen but when it boots up it asks me for my pin number and freezes. I guess its locking up because it has no "phone" part? According to the instructions in the other thread I am supposed to flash it again but I can't as the phone locks on boot.....
Any ideas?
*FINALY* got it back into pre-flash feck up situation. Sadly, this still leaves me with the hardware problem. HTC can go poke themselves until the cows come home. Im taking my money somewhere else.
OK, let me start by saying I am NOT getting the bootloader, I am NOT getting stuck on a startup screen, and I am NOT new to loading HTC ROMS (but I am new to the titan - former owner of Hermes). With that out of the way....
I bricked my Titan - It won't startup at all. Plugging it into the USB port generates a red LED and nothing on the screen. The only USB activitey seen on the computer is the HTC USB modem (no other communciation appears to be possible - no activesycn, no response to ROM updates etc.
This is the order of the bricking
1. Started with Default Verizon install (less than 4 days old)
2 unlocked with olipro 1.20
3 attempted install of Sprint 3.35 update to get radio (failed and rebooted device at 11%)
4. attempted intall of radio 3.27 (sucessful)
5. installed NexVision 3.35 cooked rom
6. ran into some stability with the rom (phone remained "Unactivated") and reverted back to ruu_signed_verizon stock ROM
7. Booted OK (phoen remained "unactivated"
8. reattempted install of sprint 3.35 (thinking rom instability was due to radio version) device rebooted itself at 11% and failed.
9. installed olipro 2.4 thinking it might circumvent the 11% reboot issue on Sprint ROM.(appeared sucessfull) phone never came back after that.
Now I'm dead in the water... Pulled the battery, Tried a hard reset (2 softkeys under screen/press soft reset) - no change in the device.
are there any secrets to unbricking a Titan?
Starting with the default Verizon ROM, updating to olipro 1.20
Hold off for a little bit, at the moment there is no unbrick, but ImCoKeMaN and jocky are working on this. Your phone now is booting into Qualcomm download mode and it is recoverable. It's just a matter of a patched loader to get a new spl on it...
thank (fingers crossed)... even tried the relocker by ImCoKeMan and it's not detecing the device either...
Time to be patient and wait for CoKeMan to come to the rescue.
just to make sure...
when you tried a hard reset... sometimes people dont know to hold the soft keys for a couple seconds (this is my experience anyway)
jsut for kicks try this again... press and hold the 2 soft keys, press reset button, keep soft keys held down, release reset button, wait a couple seconds then release the soft keys.
Hmmm I remember someone else with a similar problem not too long ago. He thought he had bricked the phone too and was getting the same red led when he plugged it in, but nothing else. His problem was that he had a defective battery. If you could get your hands on a spare battery I'd say try that...I'm not 100% sure it's the battery, and if it's not then I hope cokeman comes through for you...but if you can check that out, I definitely would.

Was just about to post the same thing, red LED is definately an indicator of a battery issue, could be defective or just totally dead. If you unplug the battery and reinsert it and then plug in the usb charger without turning it on do you get a green LED? If so I would say battery is 100% discharged and wait for it to charge (I have had this happen). Otherwise if it is still red after that I would say replace the battery (I had this happen on my first titan, it was doa due to defective battery).

Exactly, all the roms downloaded from HTC recommend having at least a 50% charged battery.
Yup, battery was at 99% before the upgrades. with or without the battery in it reacts the same, with or without the USB in it reacts the same.
I left it plugged in all night, no change.
Solved (but not really)
Since the phone was brand new, Verizon techs took it back as a "faulty phone"... thankfully the Red LED to them means "bad battery" too and when they replaced the battery and it didn't fix itself they exchanged the phone.
It's good that your phone was replaced, but to all the naysayers in this thread, you don't know what you're talking about. If the bootloader won't come up when you reset while holding power and camera, then the SPL is gone and the phone is booting into download mode. If you want to check this, connect to windows, it should find a new device, a qualcom debug port in download mode (you might need a driver for this).
The issue is being worked on and a solution will be found.
wow, i didn't (i did-but not reallly) know that it was really really possible to brick your phone, i thought there would more or less always b e a way out. pretty scary!

Ok well then I guess you could call me a naysayer then. And I assure you I am no dummy myself, in fact, I'm a Computer Engineer and work with embedded systems alllll day long. I don't doubt your knowledge about the bootloader and the SPL, but before you doubt MY knowledge explain this one to me. Stock battery, no bootloader, no nothing...just red LED. Replaced battery and all of a sudden phone boots...both normally and when forced into the bootloader.
I have the exact same problem. I don't remember exactly how it happened, but was similar scenario to previous posts. I believe I was trying to get the 3.35 radio installed for use with dcd's 3.0.1 kitchen, although I can't be positive.
QPST shows that it is seeing a Qualcomm device in download mode. Here is the exact model# it displays:
Q/QCP-XXX (Download)
Hope this info is useful to those that don't have a titan stuck in this mode.
Yep, that is a brick currently, but a method to fix it is being attempted.
Basically the phone has a dual core cpu with 1 core running the spl, and wince; and the other runs the oemsbl, qcsbl, and amss (the radio). Your spl is missing so the operating system core is doing nothing. However the phone side is still up and running. (this is mostly theory)
So we need to have a patched bootstrap to send in download mode (notice qpst software download actually sends over a bootstrap 7500.hex file found in your qpst bin directory) which will load the spl back into the correct areas of memory. I don't believe we can jump to it because we are on the wrong core.
Do you know which address range the SPL sits in memory?
JTAG ?????

Hey Shadow, I think you are correct, and also possibly do you think that JTAGing it would work ? Grad the image from a good one and load it into a dead one. I do not yet have one to take apart yet to try, but if i get a bad one to take apart I might just get it.
It would be great to see this issue resolved as this same problem happened to me last nite and the "friendly" folks at Bell Mobility took one look at the phone and told me it was water damage. I've had the 6800 for about 20 days and it has not been close to water. Anyways, that's besides the point. I look forward to seeing some kind of resolution to the matter....thanks!
Do you see same in QPST ?

I am not going to take mine apart to look for it, but i am sure there is a JTAG port inside these as there is every other I have seen.
Every time I reset or turn on my fone after shutting down, it will stuck at the logo boot up. It wasn't like that when I first bought the fone. Now it's getting worse and worse since the issue happens so frequently.
I have to take out the battery and put it back, then wait for about 3 to 5 mn before I turn the phone on.Then it would boot up as usual.
Is there anyone facing the same issue as I am? Any suggestion guys?
Are you experiencing excessive heat when this occurs? Also, can you give more info such as: does this happen only after recent charging or does it ever happen when the phone has been turned off for a long time? Was there any recent apps you installed or ROM changes when this started happening? Was there any potential damage done to the phone -dropped it, got it wet, or microwaved
When you say frequently, does that mean every time you restart? every other time? every five times?
Lastly, do you have any other issues/symptoms other than freezing at startup? Does the phone ever freeze during normal use?
i'd suggest you do a hard reset of your phone (hold down both vol up and vol down keys while powering on/resetting). that should fix the problem. if the problem still persists, it's probably some hardware faults.
Me too
My HD2 just started doing this too. It was fine for 7 weeks I have owned it. However, as described in this by OP, when doing soft reset would it would also get stuck on bootup logo. I'd have to remove the battery for a few minutes before it would bootup.
However, my HD2 also crashes and upon reboot then get stuck on bootup logo. It appears to crashes randomly eg not with any particular program or action.
I figured it was software issue so did hard reset. This worked fine. After hard reset the only software I loaded were Total Commander and Cookie Editor.
After Cookie Editor install I did soft reset and it got stuck on bootup logo. : (
So I did another hard reset but it hung up again upon reboot on bootup logo.
This appears to be a hardware issue. But has anyone else had same issue?

Hi. I got this problem for quite sometime and am so used to taking out and putting back and taking out and putting back the batt.
But now I have another prob: my ringtone suddenly went soft and I now have to keep myself alert all the time to see if there's any incoming call or SMS.
I would like to do a hard reset but the question is: will it set my phone back to the stock ROM or still retain the updated version - 1.66.707.1?
Thanks in advance.

HD2 issue
After some more searching it appears this is not uncommon for HD2. Its not clear to me if it is specific to T-Mobile HD2 or HD2 in general.
It appears to be a hardware issue. Although that is not 100% clear either. I find it hard to distinguish what some people report as 'freezing' which i believe is different to the issue described in this post which is 'hanging up' or 'getting stuck' on boot up screen - in my case it is the T-Mobile 'stick together' pink and white screen/logo.
(The 'freezing' issue that i believe is different to this 'getting stuck on bootup logo' issue appeared to have been resolved iwth new T-Mobile ROM - and I never experienced it on my HD2).
The resolution for getting stuck on bootup screen issue described here appears to have been to exchange HD2 (although some people exchanged up to 6 times and keep getting same issue!)
I think it is important to note that my HD2 performed fine for 7 weeks with lots of soft resets, hard resets, and lots of software installs (though no ROM reflashing) but within last week or so, start crashing randomly, then upon reboot get stuck on bootup screen/logo. This also became more frequent as time progressed. After doing hard reboot, the issue is now acute, eg it gets stuck on every reboot, and crashes more often.
This leads me to think some hardware has failed or degraded and is getting worse, maybe a connection/soldering etc?
However, is there any possibility that a ROM could 'degrade'? Can a ROM have a setting that is modifiable? (I know it is 'read only memory' but is it really?)
Anyways, love to hear from others on this issue.
Same problem here. Bought my HD2 in june. Cooked my own rom with Chucky's kitchen. Flashed different radios, hard resets, task 29 etc. Absolutely no problem. Worked fine for several weeks. But sometime it begun to freeze, auto resets, stuck at boot logo. It was getting worse. Even flashing stock rom it hungs at boot logo.
Now my HD2 is out for repair. Now waiting for returning. Hope they will change the motherboard.
several people have had their motherboards replaced and that has seemed to fix it for them. You'll probably have to fight with htc or your carrier, but should be able to get it replaced.
Hi guys. Another question:
I'm considering doing a hard reset. How do I store my messages before doing it? I can't seem to locate the folder that keeps all my messages.
TIA.
HD2 is an odd one
Thanks for replies. I really don't want to send it in .. but it will probably be the only way to resolve the issue. It will cost me courier there and back, and $20 'triage' fee .. total cost to me will be ~$100 just to have them look at it. Price of doing business I guess.
Anyways, I realized that one of my issues was that it was crashing when syncing. A little digging reveals that HTC Sense does something to all contacts when syncing first time putting a bit of html in contact notes field (weird but it is true .. its their way of reminding you bought an HTC phone?) So once I got it up and running, I disabled Sense and syncing went fine, no crashing.
(Btw, Sense also appears to do something with SMS msgs too so if you have lots it crashes on due to this reason too).
However, even with plain Jane MS today screen (eg not using Sense) it still crashed once on sync and again when listening to radio. Both times had to remove battery for few minutes before it would reboot without getting stuck at bootup logo.
But so far it seemed to be working 'better' without using Sense.
So, I re-enabled Sense to see what would happen and over a day it has crashed twice. I am going to see how it behaves for few days before sending it in as RMA repair.
Still, important point is that it was ok for 7 weeks, and then started crashing, more and more, even after hard reset, though some of issues may have been due to Sense (which is reported by many users).
It is still not a 'normal' thing for a $700 consumer device to have such erratic behaviour. So, given others have exchanged crashing handsets for new handset that has no issues points to underlying hardware issues as suggested above eg motherboard.
As comparison I also have HTC Diamond 2 which has been rock solid for 2 years of continuous use even with lots of software install, tweaking, reg hacks, etc.

I don't text a lot so i just hard reset without saving .. but do a quick search on on XDA for SMS backup or PIM backup .. during my searches I am sure i have seen a couple of utilities that do what you want.

Thanks. Btw I read before we can actually 'disable' Sense.
How do we do that?
Sense - go to Today
Go to Start - Settings
- iI you see the black HTC Settings (has 'Personalize' on top of items) then go to Menu and select 'All Settings' (this will show Windows Mobile's Settings. HTC Sense 'Settings' doesn't everything Windows Mobile Settings has or shows it differently)
- Select 'Today'
- Select the 'Items' tab in Today
- Check 'Windows Default' and click OK in top right.
This will 'swap' out HTC Sense 'today' with Windows Mobile standard Today screen and voila you will have 'disabled' HTC Sense and you are back to using Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 version of Sense (not anywhere near as useful or neat-o to look at but hey they are pretty happy with it )

Just by disabling Sense is not going to make it work. I had this problem with my HD2 also and without using Sense it seemed to be working (there were fewer crashes), but only for few days. My HD2 was getting worse day by day - it was not crashing only if it was not touched (it was crashing just cycling between Sense tabs or by initiating a call).
At repair center they told me (after three weeks of waiting) that the motherboard must to be changed.
Is it possible to damage it by flashing custom ROMs?
For me, this problem appeared after just one month of usage. I was flashed some custom ROMs.
Now, I have a new HD2 but I'm affraid to flash a custom ROM (at least in the near future).
I have my HD2 back. Took me 2 weeks, the repair center changed the motherboard and got an new IMEI.
Now all is working, no more stuck at bootlogo.
But i'm on stock rom (1.66) with 2.07 radio. No way to run Android with this radio. Hmm...

I'm afraid as well to flash any custom rom now. For Android i need to HSPL and flash a 2.08 radio or greater to use it. But i'm stick on stock rom for sure.
I want to know as well if it possible to damage it by flashing customs roms ?
As i stated earlier, i flashed plenty of roms, doing task 29 etc., in the end stuck on bootlogo.
Thanks for the feedback on your repairs axman79 and Kalip. Btw, aside from courier cost there and back, did you have to pay the $30 'triage' fee or whatever they call it? Also, did they challenge your observations at all or did they just replace motherboard without question?
Yah, disabling Sense hasn't stopped my HD2 from crashing eith. Without using Sense it crashed several times while using Opera and more than a few times while syncing over the past three days. Also, it still gets stuck on reboot often, requiring battery to be removed for few minutes before rebooting.
So, guess I will send my HD2 in for RMA repair too (and wait for up to 3 weeks) and hope I get a functioning device in return.
Interesting though I didn't flash my HD2 but it went from 'good' to 'bad' in similar way that your two HD2's. From reading other posts around here on XDA and elsewhere it appears that HD2 motherboards fail with surprising frequency and for variety of reasons.
Would be nice to know if HD2 motherboards are unusually delicate and something physically breaks, or if there is some electrical operation, eg charging it on USB or unusual combination of button pushes that shorts something out?
The fact that battery has to be removed for few minutes in order to get thing to reboot hints that something requires charge to dissipate eg a component somehow 'locks up' which causes crash, and needs to be discharged by removing battery?

Was flashing stock rom with stock SPL, was at the shop where i bought it and they send it. I told them it stucks at bootlogo. Repair center changed motherboard without any question. Cost me nothing.

I want to know as well !
hey guys. I am so glad I found this post! I have exact same issues ith my HD2, it's driving me nuts.
I kept sort of log and described my problems in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712729
I think I have to send my HD2 for replacement or repair.
Can you please tell me how can I get my phone fixed/replaced?
I got the US T-Mobile version, but I don't have account in T-Mobile. Can I deal directly with HTC? Where do I have to call to get RMA number etc.
I would greatly appreciate your help!

Hi,
Can anybody help me with this? My gps keeps failing. A reboot sometimes works, I've tried running quick gps but this makes no difference, Sometimes it will reboot itself after it fails (sometimes repeatedly!!) normally when using copilot 8. It doesn't seem to be an issue with copilot as google maps and chartcross gps also fail to work.
rom htc 3.14.405.2(04666)wwe date 29/09/2010
radio 2.15.50.14
protocol 15.42.50.11U
os 5.2.21913(21913.5.0.94)
many thanks
Does it fail in all usage situations (indoor, outdoor)?
Do you use Quick GPS?
Did you try another Radio ROM?

Yes
Yes
No, I've not changed radio.
I tried again last night. Co pilot worked for a minute or so then lost gps, then "gps back, determining position..." then rebooted itself, repeatedly and did freeze on boot up once. I soft reset it and tried google maps, it found no sats and rebooted itself, tried again and it was ok for about 10 minutes on copilot then I had finished my journey... It's infurating I do know! Would it be worth trying a different radio as I've not changed it from stock and it's only recently benn misbehaving?
It's still misbehaving... Is there anything in the registry that might cause it?
This may be a bit too drastic, but a hard reset can rule out the registry as the culprit.
I'm trying to avoid a hard reset if I can. I'd have to reinstall the modified rom if I did wouldn't I? (from htc website)
This is really getting me down now... Last night co-pilot worked for 10 minutes then without warning or apparent loss of gps phone rebooted, then without opening any apps or even touching it, it rebooted itself 4 times. I'm thinking a hard reset has got to be tried..
Forgive my ignorance, but if I hard reset will I have then to reinstall the updated rom and patches I installed from htc late last year to remedy daylight saving issues etc and will I be able to reinstall paid for software from marketplace without buying again?
Can anyone help please?
I've read about the rebooting problem with other users. This was caused by bent battery pins.
Did look at those?
thanks. battery pins look fine to me. i will try a hard reset, i'm just wondering if i can reinstall my paid for marketplace software or will i have to buy again and i presume i will have to reinstall htc patches and updated rom after hard reset. please forgive my ignorance. it threw a fit this morning too. i switched it to silent for an hour whilst at a funeral and when i came out battery was totally discharged. it was about 90% beforehand. it seems to be dying!!!!!!
Does nobody know, please?
i am sorry to say that ur problem is the same with mine, and i think its main board broblem,i open it and remove the gps part and then restart the phone, the same problem the phone keep freezing and restart it self,so i think its mainboard broblem,i bought another used hd2 ,and the old one for parts,

Thanks for the bad news but I think you may be correct.... I've hard reset it and the gps and rebooting side of things is exactly the same, but now it also seems to be eating the battery(COMPLETELY drained in 16 hours with approx 15 minutes of calls made and a brief use of copilot and googlemaps) and I've not installed any additional software or made any changes from "out of box" condition apart from reinstalling my contacts and the latest version of facebook.... It now also is not porting facebook profile photos into contact list even though I have recreated the links.... I have emailed htc but had no response from their "crack" support team as yet (it's only been 26 hours so far). I only got the HD2 in August last year so hope that it will be a warranty issue. I seem to remember people having issues with facebook contact photos but can't find the posts. Can anyone help??
Well, an update. After 3 months and the unit going back to the repair centre FOUR TIMES and a TWO replacement units I appear to have a working device again. HTC repair centre seem to be totally useless. I've had no info from them regards any repairs that have been carried out. Each time it went away for repair it was back within 4 days so very little testing was done.(I did find out on 1 repair the speaker and the wireless card were replaced....Why???) The first replacement unit took 2 weeks to arrive though and that had absolutely no gps.......The second replacement took 3 1/2 to arrive but so far the gps is ok but I still have no facebook profile photos in my contacts list....... Any ideas how to rectify this??
