I'll preference this post by saying I am a newbie. I'm learning how to tweak my HD2.
That being said, I activated voice notifications and it reads the head line and sender of each of my emails, incoming calls, etc.
I do not know how to DEACTIVATE.
Please point me in the right direction. Its getting me in trouble when in meetings at work.
How did you activate it in the first place?
Did you try the voice command settings?
Settings Tab>All Settings>Personal>Voice Command

Hi Everyone,
I have a sprint touch pro and I am using Google voice as my voice mail provider. Since I no longer use sprint as the voice mail provider I don't get the nice voice mail notification on my phone. Is there a way to hack the phone so that when someone leaves me a voice mail on Google voice I would get the notification on my phone? I hope I explained this correctly and any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jerry
No...the voicemail notification comes from the network. Google Voice wouldn't have the ability to send that signal to your phone. The best you can do is have them send you a text message notifying you of new voicemail. Unless someone can write some sort of intermediary driver to intercept that type of formatted text (similar to what other apps do like nuegpssecurity) and notify you otherwise.

how is google voice for voicemail? havent really looked into what google voice is actually
Can't you have the voicemail transcriptions sent to an email address? Why not just set up an email account on your phone to receive them?
There is an option on google voice for it to send a message to your cellphone when you have a voicemail.
It's under:
Settings
General>Notifications
If you just have GV transcribe your VM to texts and then SMS it to your mobile phone, you'll probably never have listen to a voice message again. That's what I did and I don't believe that I have called in for my VM messages once since I did this many months ago.
Hey all. New to Android but wanted to see if a feature existed. I have my GVoice linked to my account and it dials out just fine. What Im trying to do is have a different ringtone or notification when I receive a GVoice call vs a regular call.
I tend to screen calls so it would be nice to differentiate if the incoming call was my google voice # or my real # before I decide if I want to accept. I do use the GVoice screen option as well but hoping to add to it.
Thanks
any idea if this is possible? thanks
I'm trying to setup the driving mode and S Voice on my S3 but I'm having trouble with text messages, I can't get themto be read out by S Voice. I have checked all of the options in voice cmd for apps as well as the Show body of message option. But it doesn't want to work. It just tells me I have a new message rather than reading it out.
Any help appreciated.
It frustrates me quite a great deal that my android is such a great phone (M8), but it turns so dumb when it comes to BT connectivity. The way I have it now, hands free is all but pointless. I like to use it for my phone so I can actually be safe and hands-free, without neglecting my calls and texts during my commute. As it is, when I hit my phone button on my car, I'm presented with 'Say call, followed by a name or a number' and then, 'Would you like to call XX, say okay, or cancel'. It is the most annoying and drawn out method of calling someone in history. Not to mention, if it doesn't hear you right away, it says 'Sorry, didn't catch that', and then just closes down. I cringe every time I have to voice dial. To top it off, there's nothing I can do with texting. How much smarter would it be to have a 'Read unread messages' prompt? Or a prompt to send a text?
So my question is, is there a way to replace this 1990's error voice control app with something actually usable, or am I stuck with this?
The tech has been progressing so fast these days. We have incredible smartphone these days with a lot of potential. But I wonder sometimes, if Android has done anything to localize the Voice Mails.
Like, is there an app or something to enable people to RECORD incoming calls, without having to personally attend each call? Like, an answering machine should automatically record a message from incoming call when we're bit available.
IS THERE SUCH A THING?
Bump ....
