I'm using Elelinux v1.8 and I'm very happy. It's a great job.
BUT it's using a 2.6.29 kernel.
So my question is : is there a 2.6.32 for Hero (gsm) somewhere.
I found the android 2.6.32-msm, but I don't want to work on this job if it was already done

Moved to Q&A as perhaps better suited as a question.
People are working on a .34 kernel port just now (See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765701 for info)
No kernel beyond 2.6.29 is available in usable form for hero though, as it requires significant changes which are "in progress", sort-of.
Hope this explains it.
Thanks for your answer and link, and sorry for posting in the wrong forum.
No worries, good luck if you try some porting

Why Cronos Froyo is out of this forum?
It is the most stable and solid rom I tried on my Hero and I currently use this.

Pff you can discuss that ban...
Hey... I was wondering why he got banned, I was hanging round off topic when he got banned, and only when I came back I realised
i've to say, the best 2.1 rom came from feeyo, solid, fast and clean
still have to try 2.2 though...anyway, it's not much an effort to go on his own forum, it's easy to find on google

That is a loooooooooooooooooooooooong loooooooooooooooooooooooong story That would take me like an hour to fully explain...
If I am not mistaken the short version is something like:
If and when Feeyo makes his kernel sources public he can come back.

Ah Okay
Thanks
The source in question was the 32 kernel if i recall correctly. As far as i know, feeyo does not even have his original source on that anymore, and feeyo has been making his other source available to anyone who asks.

As herandroid said he has made his sources public but he cannot come back since he made some accounts after he was banned I think.

I have minimal understanding of what you devs needs for sources but here? I think the kernel source is up to date but the name hasn't been changed but I'm not sure (it's the CK29- one). Is this correct?

What we "devs" call sources is: a group of files which when downloaded to a properly configured linux system, it is possible to build them and, get this, even run them on an actual hero device!
For example: https://github.com/erasmux/hero-2.6.29-flykernel
On my FlyKernel post you can find detailed instruction on how to build it, and if you have a linux system and are interested, you should be able to build my kernel with no problems.
EDIT: damn, again reading too fast. The CK29- one, does look like kernel sources, and I am sorry but don't have time now to download them and try and compile them. But did Feeyo really not update his kernel since august?
EDIT2: From the Cronos 1.6.0 release notes:
Release notes:
21 Nov 2010 | Cronos Froyo 1.6.0:
...
* New Kernel tweaks.
...
Where are these tweaks?

On Feeyo's github, the only thing which seems like its sources for a kernel is this one:
https://github.com/Feeyo/cm-kernel-32A-Magic
These are obviously sources for a kernel for the Magic device and not the hero....

Okay then I guess I'll ask him...
Please see my edits above. I tend to read posts way to fast, I was sure I checked all the repositories on Feeyos github before posting my original one, but after I noticed you said its "CK29-", I rechecked it.....

Those tweaks you can find in 30tweaks under init.d in one of his kernel flashable zip.
Yes the kernel has been updated and it has been updated A LOT. I'm guessing Feeyo probably hasn't bothered updating his kernel but I'll ask him about it
EDIT: He has been trying out some very experimental stuff like compiling with a new toolchain and he is also very busy ATM. I think he said he would compile a new kernel with the old toolchain since the new one wasn't that good so maybe he is waiting till he get a proper kernel to release. That could also be it.
EDIT2: He just told me it was not the toolchain but a Linux kernel patch
I am sorry, but I don't have time for these games. Feeyo, does not wish to share his kernel sources. It his right, not his legal right, but still his decision.
Personally, the events that caused his banning do not sit well with me and I think it would have been better if they had never happened.
That said, it does not change the fact, Feeyo, for reasons only he knows, does not share his work with others, quite the opposite.
I will not waste any more of my time on supposed sources for his kernels, which, at best, are old sources which he really used at the time.
Okay whatever I don't understand this... I'm going to link this thread to Feeyo though...
I would love to see such talented developers such as feeyo and erasmux working together. Yeah i know, feeyo has to publish his sources, your are all right. I hope Cfreak can get him doing this.
The dev. at the hero section is getting really quiet.
I think the point is the villian team. They are making really good ROMs but when Feeyo came to XDA he delivered a very nice ROM. Noobody was very nice to him only said "play by rules, give me your sources". I think you get him in a very wrong way. He is a nice guy and very friendly over Cronos Forum, doing a great job and very intersting in new things. It would be a pleaure to welcome Feeyo back on board here but i think you all scared him.
Sorry for my bad english.
Will X10 CUSTOM Kernel count down death when Gingerbread X10 Rom come to release date ?

I don't see the 2.6. 35 kernel? Are you sure that we get 2.6. 35 because the Arc has 2.6. 32 and I am sure we don't get better than arc?

I am new to kernel development but would like to give it a try after closing my Portadroid development.
Just like to find out if anyone here would be interested to form a team with me to take on this challenge. But before that, I need some advice if there is really a need for a kernel specifically developed for SD/Ram build ROM since we have already a couple of NAND kernel that can work on SD ROM. Is there a big enough ROI for committing time on this?

Considering the great work you did with Portadroid I am sure you can
Contribute in the field of kernel development/improvement and even thou
Tytung and Warrenb -and others- are doing great work, some problems persist
and a fresh approach dedicated on SD kernel builds can only be welcomed.
Thanks and good luck.

pleased heard of this. I think it is a good idea. currently only hastarin( https://gitorious.org/~hastarin/linux-on-wince-htc/hastarins-linux_on_wince_htc ) kernel and ACA hastrains (branch https://gitorious.org/~warrenb213/linux-on-wince-htc/warrenb213s-hastarins-linux_on_wince_htc ) supports both SD( boot from winmo) and Mag ( boot from Magldr for SD) boot.
now most others developing kernels such as tyt, raf and their clone branches etc don't support Mag (boot from Magldr for SD ROM). So a good idea for SD kernel is to continue hastrain kernel and add in all patches since he stopped.Only for SD boot type (SD/RAM/MAG) should be fine & No need to support magldr NAND/cLK. I'm learning and studying hastarin's repository. i'm a newbie for linux kernel. many things don't know lah and need to learn. lol.
Wow, this looks like dream team.. good luck guys and thank you.

Since it now seems Doomlord, Cobrato and Oodie have all moved on and will not be continuing their wonderful kernel related contributions to the X10 community, I wondered if there was anyone with the requisite skills and desire to modify the new FXP109 and later CM7/CM9 Kernels to allow for higher clock speeds. My personal experience is that clocking at 1.19GHz is perfectly stable and makes a very noticeable difference in performance. Hopefully someone can and will do it.
Thanks,

For FXP users you must have the fxp kernel, which has a small oc to 1036, but i agree with the OP, it would be magic if someone with the skill could provide a kernel that works on fxp based roms but has a little more oc and i/o options (smartassv2 is a popular choice)

Yes, I remember reading your post last year. It was a gutsy move Maverick. And I know FXP won't do it, nor would I expect it. However there has to be someone with the skills to mod the New FXP kernel just as Cobrato did for old FXP kernel. O/C performance differential is more noticeable on CM than on stock to me. It really livens it up. And my internet is out until Monday, so I'm tethering off of my X10. Trying to be frugal but still used over half a gig today. No Netflix till Monday. One interesting thing is that I was able to download FXP113 from uploaded.to last night while tethered without using a tunnel or proxy. Hopefully someone with the skill to do so will mod the new FXP kernel and post it. CM7 is pretty mature by now and would benefit from it. 45 Mflops maybe?

we need doomkernel (oc version)
then we need to unpack kernel (using doom's tool itself)
and we do the same with fxp's kernel
now we put portions of fxp kernel's ramdisk into doom's one....
repack things, create ftf..and flash.....aaaaaaand hope it boots

Since you all know Lupo had compiled the best ICS for our devices and it's based on pure CM9 no other tweaks or stuff. That means also the kernel is stock-Lupo worked very hard to port everything we need for it to work.
Now here is my thought, Francisco also has his latest #4kernel based on stock2.35 but with some heavy preformance modifications...

It was much appreciated that you made a request but creating a new thread just for a single request traffics the forum/ section.
We will surely consider it but it would be kind of you if you yourself ask a moderator to delete this thread.
Now after 24th, we will be creating both a bug as well as request section for the users
You can post your request there.
