When I do a ROM backup via ROM Manager app...does that also backup the Kernel?
I want to flash the King's Kernel but want to make sure I can go back to stock Kernel if I have problems.
No it does not restore the kernel (zimage)
So i would need to use ODIN?

Yes or re-flash the Kernel through Clockwork if it's a flashable zip

is there any way to flash kernels without connecting our phones to pc?
a friend of mine had an HTC incredible s that could flash kernels on it by the phone only. is the same thing possible on SE mdpi's?
I think no.
Unfortunately, certainly not.
Hi
If you have a zip format flashable package containing a kernel, way shouldn't you?
When you flash a ROM, you flash also its kernel.

ROM isn't same as kernel. Kernel is medium between hardware and software. Same as you can't change ROM while phone's turned on.

Wrong, when you flash a rom you don't even touch the kernel, I guess you were talking about flashing a ftf file via flashtool.

i want to change kernel lupus to mesa, do i fresh install the rom again after flashing kernel or just flashing the kernel?
No need to fresh install the rom, just flash the kernel in fastboot.
But make a backup though just in case

No bro,i rooted, later flash kernel and after i build ultimate hd..
Do you know how to unistall custom rom without lose root and kernel?
restore is the only option I know
If you 1. have taken a backup and 2. have the kernel image<boot.img> you want on your device, then you can 1. flash a kernel with cwm<vengeance kernel for mt11i>, 2. restore the backup and 3. flash the required kernel<boot.img>.

So how can we backup stock kernel? I want to know too.
Flashify can do that.
TWRP has option to backup boot partition, but haven't used that, so can't tell if this backup contains kernel, maybe somebody can tell this.

Extract the boot.img file from a stock MIUI ROM ( the version you're using) and flash (image) in TWRP.

You need not.
Another way is to simply dirty flash your current ROM but you will have to re-flash TWRP, Magisk etc.
