[REQ] Vibrant port of Fascinate's BlackMod [MM] theme - Vibrant Themes and Apps

Found this while cruising around the other Galaxy-S forums. I think it looks great and would love to have it on the Vibrant. Anyone up for taking a crack at it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=797244

I just checked over the contents of the MM. It's compatible already. There aren't any xml files changed, just images. I'd definitely back up first, but you shouldn't have any issues flashing.

Looks pretty cool, but I still prefer the non-3d look of the AllBlack mm by tricorder.
I haven't messed with the other SGS phones, but does anyone know if there's really any major differences in file names/structures between the phones? I'm assuming framework.res and twframework.res are identical and the differences would be the preinstalled apps, but I could be completely wrong.

There's some differences in framework-res and twframework-res. The Captivate has 5 signal bars, the Epic has 6 and the Vibrant and Fascinate both have 4. Bloatware also varies. Some of the tiles in Touchwiz30Launcher are named after the Bloatware they float behind, so they vary as well.

I actually tried it a couple times before I made the thread and it didn't work. Maybe the issue was having a couple mods in place already. I'll play with it a bit more and see if I can get it to work.

No dice. I ran it a million times over a bunch of different combinations of themes/stock. Including a bunch of reboots without MMs. I don't know what else to try haha.

I'll check it out when I get off work and see if I need to make any changes for you. It's probably something simple.
Sent from my Samsung Vibrant

weekend bump for anyone that wants to check it out

I've put up a few tutorials on how to do this...
The reason it doesn't work is bc our framework is different than the other galaxy s phones... Ji6 may be different but thats why we can't have a fully trans pulldown...
I'm working on froyo stuff atm so this is a no go for me...

1) Download ROM Manager (ClockWork Recovery) from the market.
2) Flash Clock Work Recovery
2b) Make a backup
3) Pick a ROM from the BIBLE in the dev section listed under the Clock Work section
4) Download it and move it to the root of the SD card
5) Boot into recovery and Install a ROM from SD
Pretty straight forward if you read thoroughly
I actually just rooted my phone! My first step on track hahaha. Ill look into the other stuff next, perhaps wait till 2.2 roms are made. Im installing mobile ap right now, or at least figuring it out.
from experience i can only comment on eugenes roms. I havent tried bionix.
Eugene if you want something lightly themed with tweaks and TW Launcher go with Eugene's Vibrant9 found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743769
If you want something more close to the "vanilla" android which means you wont have samsungs TW stuff go with his hybrid rom here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773018
He did also release a franken-twiz rom here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784142
for me the franken-twiz rom is too unstable, and some things didn't work for me, like widgets, but it also has some AWESOME features, and is also based on the latest "leaked" firmware JI2.
I use his Vibrant9 with JAC's OCv4 Kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=744655) and i LOVE it. very snappy and stable. There is also the "rom bible" here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771111 with tons of information, you want to stick with the roms that are "flash-able .zips" IMO
As far as bricking your phone, the vibrant is very hard to fully brick, not saying it is impossible, but its hard, just read through the directions a few times and make sure you are understanding. And like ALex530 said it is up to you to find what you like, that is the beauty of Android.
I personally like Vibrant7 because well I do.
And if you want more battery life, and the touchwiz is not all that great to you, Hybrid R3 makes my battery last on average double than it did with stock or any of Eugene's other ROMs(which i have tried them all, and they all have good points with the exception of the frankin twiz, which he tweeted that he was not going to fix and just base it off a newer leak because of the issues), it basically removes allot of bloat ware(stuff that isn't needed to run the phone) and in return it makes allot less stuff running in the the background, which makes the battery last much longer. You can add stuff back into it, what I use is the TW Hybrid v3, and then I add the Sims and avatar movie back into it. But I liked both of those.
Most importantly if you are not comfortable with android I would stick to flash-able ROMs, the ones that require Odin can cause you problems if you dont know what you are doing. As long as you make a backup of your current ROM, if the flash goes wrong you can just use a Nandroid to restore and try again. I personally have flashed my Vibrant probably 60 times, but I am always trying the new thing, but lately I just use it for a day or so and then I end up going back to the Hybrid build because of the battery Life.
Well i got the whole thing down, i tried all the roms, but honestly there was nothing i really liked or found to my interest. Alot of the skins werent to my liking although i did like Frankin-Twiz, but i found Bionix to be a tad bit ugly in terms of design. Dunno i might wait till 2.2 and see what roms come out then. For now ill just probably stay rooted. I may try the roms out again and look into them more in detail.
I like the TWiz design alot, kinda grew attatched to it, and bionix made me hate it haha. Frankin wasnt bad though. Gotta just try em again.
Edit: Also Hybrid wasn't that bad either, but the TW launcher was still there? Is this to be deleted or should i just be recommended to make the other one my default?

Well I use ADW just for the fact it lets you have two quick launch buttons on the bottom of each screen on each side of the dock button and place which ever short cuts you want there, I put my phone and camera, Kinda like the TW but has 4 , and ADW has the launch dock button and 2 to equal 3 that one gives you allot of options also for themes that are free from the market. Also you can get a program called "Home Switcher" that allows you to change your default really easy and you can try them all. There is pro launcher, which is good too i just like having the quick launch options.

[THEME REQUEST] port of Captivate Gingerbread

Anyone care to take a crack at porting this to JK6? I think it looks great!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863860
I don't know if you bothered to check or not, but there's 2 gingerbread themes for the vibrant already.
EDIT: There's 3 version for Vibrant.

I did. One only changed the status bar, and the other had a drop down that looked totally different and doesn't look like any of the gingerbread drop down menus I've seen.
I also saw one for CM 6.1 but that doesn't help me either
Yeah that looks sexy...do any of the current Gingerbread ones work on Macnut 14?
Yeah this looks to be the most complete theme. Love that smooth AOSP lockscreen.
That is a beautifully ported ROM to the Captivate. I would love to see that on Vibrant! I personally am not fond of the data signal icons but hey, that's a simple change if we can get a port!
Ive got finals coming up, but I may tear this apart and see how easily it can be ported.
I got the one for cm6 and I might say it is impressive.. but if ur still not happy with these nice themes. Then I say download that and pull the framework-res.apk images and build from there...

Battery-mod themes with Axura

Is anyone else having trouble applying battery-mod themes to their Axura Roms? I realize that Master has an awkward setup because the original framework has a few extra .pngs thrown in (stat_sys_battery_0b, stat_sys_battery_charge_anim6b, stat_sys_battery_charge_anim10b, etc). I edited those as well, so my batteyrmod morph setup mirrors the original framework.
however, when my phone is charging, it does not display the full sequence of charging .pngs. It seems to only display like the first 5 images and then starts over, as opposed to cycling through all 105.
anyone else?
I'm having a similar problem with the Odometer Battery mod ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=926769 ) The charging sequence only goes to +/- 30%.
I'm on TW Bionix-v though

Well the issue most likely is that while the xmls are most likely working fine, because the compiled framework never had most of these images upon being compiled, they're not in the resources and therefore won't be called upon.
There's really no way around it, it would have to be compiled with the images inside. Upload your framework and I'll pack it up for ya.

[Q] Pulling Stock HTC Apps Off T-Bolt & Putting Them on a Rooted Droid Charge

I have some questions that might sound stupid, but I just rooted my first 2 phones over the last 2 days, so I'm definitely new at this and still don't know a lot about this.
I have a defective Thunderbolt (VERY frequent reboots caused by the May OTA update) that I got Verizon to replace with a Droid Charge. I rooted the Thunderbolt because I wanted to be able to do things with my phone that the manufacturers prevent you from otherwise doing (such as changing the font, installing new ROMs, etc). I need to send the Thunderbolt back to Verizon, but I still have it and figured this would be a good time to experiment with rooting.
Anyway, what I want to know is if there's a way to pull the HTC dialer, calendar, contacts & e-mail apps off of the Thunderbolt and put them on the Charge (and, have them actually work!), as I really like those apps. As I said, my Thunderbolt is rooted, and I found things on it like Calendar.apk, HtcContacts.apk, and HtcDialer.apk, but there are also other files with similar or related names. My Charge is rooted also, with a non-stock kernel (imnuts' PeanutButta Jelly Time) and a non-stock ROM (GummyCHARGED 1.8.5).
So, if anyone knows how to do this and could explain to me how to go about it, I'd REALLY appreciate it!
Thanks,
Dennis
You can try pulling some of the system apks from the system/app folder like the calender. Dialer might be a little more complicated, think that's something integrated in he framework or with sense . Know there are a lot of other installable dialer and keyboards out there so sure its possible

You can try to use titanium backup on your Thunderbolt to backup all user apps, system data, and system apps. Remove the Micro SD card. Insert your Micro SD card into the Droid Charge, and use Titanium backup to move certain apps that you would like to use. However, keep in mind that the stock HTC apps, may not work properly on a Droid Charge. ie, keyboard, tethering, etc. Hope this helps.
system apps are going to need the htc framework to run.

In fact any sense related programs will just force close with sense framework. And sense framework cannot be ported or moved. Sorry man. But look at the bright side, you have a brand new plastic phone with the worst UI the world has ever seen, but you did get swipe preinstalled. Nice.

No, maybe you should read my ENTIRE post before commenting! Actually I have a new plastic phone, but I do NOT have the worst UI the world has ever seen, since I rooted it and installed a custom ROM! GummyCHARGED 1.8.5 installs an interface that is the closest to a stock Android install that I've ever seen (Google branded phones excepted, as I've no experience with them). That Samsung TouchWiz interface is a MAJOR reason why I rooted the phone in the first place!
At least my new plastic phone doesn't reboot 8-10 times a day, including right in the middle of phone calls!

Yeah, I only posted this here because it involved pulling apps off of the Thunderbolt, and I figured Thunderbolt owners would know the most about doing things like that!

All of that still doesn't change the fact you have samsung hardware not supported by the htc sense framework by default. You might have something close to AOSP and still using touchwiz (such as the stripped/themed roms on the thunderbolt) or you might just have an actual AOSP based rom. However, none of that changes the fact that the Sense framework supports sense hardware (which none of that samsung uses) and many of the drivers on the phones are not opensource and so that's what keeps from being as simple as pulling off some .apks on a sense ROM and installing onto your phone. As mentioned, you are far more likely to find someone who can build a sense like framework/launcher from the ground up in the samsung centered or general android development forums than here.
If we're going to resort to name calling and insults by either party, I'll just report the thread to a moderator, because none of that is really needed it's off topic. There's been too much hate going around lately on xda and it just turns off those that really try to help (like me).
If you want a lead of some party to ask, I would contact the developers that ported the touchwiz interface to all android phones or start asking in the older samsung forums that have more development going on (or in the general ones as mentioned). They would probably be the most interested in helping as I mentioned before. http://www.xda-developers.com/android/modified-touchwiz-4-launcher-for-all-android-devices/ (these guys)

[Q] Has anyone Hellraised and tried this i9100 ROM?

This ROM is called NiteUI and, as far as I can tell, it seems to be a mix between the Windows Phone 7 UI and Android. It seems interesting to say the least. Has anyone tried it and, if so, what do you think of it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1247796
That isn't a rom, it is a theme.
Wow. I feel like an idiot now. But, before I ask to have this thread closed, the i777 should be able to use this theme since, according to the guide, it doesn't require flashing?
As far as I can tell all of the theme can be used on ours except the status bar will require some work on your end to replace the images and icons as it is a dark theme for miui, unless you know smali it's gonna take some time to get the icons moved to the opposite side of the status bar.
It seems like getting this look would take a lot of work. And, really, I don't think it would be worth it seeing as there's a possibly we could have a functional version of CM9 by the beginning of March. I think I'll just pass on this and Hellraise VillainRom, which I've been meaning to try for sometime now. But thank you for the help anyways!
