Hi everybody,
I'm using the DJ_Steve 1.2 Froyo with a Samsung bluetooth headset for calls.
Pairing goes with no problems, but sound is very low even for incoming or outgoing calls. It's very hard to hear the calling party, and I prefer to use a headset instead of using the Streak directly as a telephone.
I've tried another headset (Nokia one) but result is the same. I've also played several combinations with volume parameters with no success.
It seems (but I cannot remember well), that the 1.6 had no problem with that.
Does anyone know how to tweak bluetooth volume ?
Any help will be appreciated.
Best regards
Gaijin
1.6 has the same problem. It seems the problem is not consistent across all devices though. I'm hoping the official updates fixes this, but if it doesn't, I'll look into the louder volume hack (search these forums).
I'm interested to know if someone who had this problem solved it with a particular headset.
Double post.
Thanks for investigating...
I've tried louder volume on the market with no success. Change can be made, but no 'louder' volume ! I hope the next froyo build (or official one) will solve this issue.

That was more headset related. This topic is related to bluetooth system volume in general. Not really duplicate.
So louder volume hack did NOT provide any help? Do you experience the same with media volume as opposed to phone volume? Media volume seems fine here. Can go much louder than phone volume.

Thanks undrwater.
Yes, you're rigth : media (back speaker) or phone volume (use of the streak as a normal phone) are good, and also can be set very loud.
I'm going to take a look inside OS.
Have a good day.

Sorry, I didn't reference that post suggesting a duplicated thread, i was just trying to help by offering more info from other users. Ive noticed the same problem and its mentioned throughout the other post too. Maybe its more to do with the Bluetooth profile?

Hi.
I have a problem regarding the speaker volume on my hero when using 2.1 roms.
When i turn it all the way up to max the volume is a lot lower than the official 1.5 at max volume.
This is a big problem as my phone becomes allmost unusable for GPS navigation (i have a crappy car that makes a lot of noise). I also often miss calls when using 2.1 roms.
I have tested one of the rooted official 2.1 rom and it has the same problem.
Does anyone have any idea why the max volume is mutch lower with 2.1 than 1.5? or even better have an ide for a fix?
The roms i have tested with are
Official 2.1
Cronos Droid 1.6
aHero 1.0
VanillaEclair 3.0 & 3.3 RC1
VillainROM 10

That's not entirely true.
I've maxed out my volume in [email protected], so you can't turn it all the way up, otherwise the sound will be distorted.
You can download [email protected], extract /system/etc/AudioPara* and copy that over to you /system/etc/
Did anyone try this solution?

So the "Quiet ring on pickup" feature will also quiet down the voice from my stanav program (navigon)??
Thats stupid. Anyway is have tested on the modaco 2.1. But ill try to turn off quiet ring and see if that helps.

To so anything sensible to fix this, you will need to be rooted to be able to edit the audio settings in /system/etc

Found a solution to all radio problems in Dell Streak!!
I have a rooted Dell Streak 5 running on MIUI 2.4.2 ROM...
I was using Streak Radio for a while but was having difficulties below:
1. Radio volume cannot be controlled. It operates on full volume normally. When a call comes or alarm goes off, volume falls to very low levels.
2. When a call comes, radio does not stop automatically. Radio sound and caller voice get mixed up and we cannot hear what they are saying.
3. When call ends, radio does not start automatically.
Glad to tell you guys that I have found a nice solution to all these problems
I bought Sony Ericsson MW600 bluetooth headset.
This is a bluetooth hands-free and has an in-built radio too.
Sound clarity is excellent.
I can control the volume, radio automatically stops when a call comes and automatically starts again when call is ended.
You can also use it to hear songs with excellent clarity.
Just thought to inform everyone using Dell Streak 5 because I was really annoyed by the limitations in the in built radio.
I am running the current leak of Froyo... if I bluetooth connect to my car audio system for hands free calling I lose all external sound when I disconnect. I have gone through all the audio settings with nothing appearing out of place. The first Froyo rom I tried redirected the ringer out the earpiece, the new leak kills it completely. All ideas welcome.... I will try anything. Thanks in advance!

I'm having the same issue. each time I connect to my car's bluetooth audio and made a call, I'll lose the notification sounds. even calls won't ring.
currently had to resort to phone's speaker function, but that won't do.
am scouring the net for some answers, and will update if i found anything.

How was there no reply to this? I have had the same issue on every samsung vibrant 2.2 rom, including custom roms. now i am having the same issue on my stock galaxy s 4G! Help?
Bump!

Same problem with Vibrant + Froyo 2.2
Sounds strikingly similar to my experience with my Samsung Vibrant running Froyo 2.2 + custom Axura 2.3.1.3 ROM.
After disconnecting any bluetooth device, in some cases the phone's speaker is completely muted (media/system/notification volumes all cranked to max) until I either reboot or make a voice call and enable speakerphone.
I've hunted high and low on the webternets for a solution and have come up dry.
I smell a bug.
Same problem Stock Vibrant 2.2

Thanks, I guess - at least I don't have to keep rebooting since the voice call/speakerphone workaround gets my sound back. This is a PITA.
I have the same issue in MIUI_Au since 1.10.x revisions (previous versions worked OK). I had exactly the same problem 6 months ago with Villain ROM and it was the reason I dumped it. It seems to be a CM7 issue...

Hello XDA! This is my first post, although I am an avid daily reader. If this is not the right place to post this then I apologize in advance.
I am working on a custom boot animation. I have everything working, including the audio file I'd like to hear as it runs. My problem is that the volume of the audio file during the custom boot animation is VERY low (~30%). I looked at the stock AT&T boot animation and there is an audio file commented out in desc.txt (#s blahblahblah.ogg). I "uncommented" it and ran it with the stock boot animation to see if the volume was the same, and indeed it was! I opened up sql editor and have looked in every database file I can find (I think) and have found nothing referencing volume upon boot up.
Is there indeed a database file that references this, and if so, what do I need to modify so the the volume is at a respectable level? Is there something (a line of code) that I need to add to the desc.txt file that will modify the volume? In a nutshell, how do I increase the volume of the audio file that I would like to be played with my custom boot animation?
Thank you for reading my post. Any/all help would be greatly appreciate!!

amp up the sound of your file. i don't know why it would play it lower than "normal". i had to amp up one of mine.
How do I do that??
I actually had the same problem with the "Aperture Laboratories" custom boot. Audio was very low

use an app like Audacity to see if it makes a difference.
I fixed my problem by using a program (mp3gain pro) to increase the overall volume of the audio file by ~20%. All works perfectly now. Thanks!!
Please close this thread.
I have tried using mp3gainpro which actually works with the file, but the volume doesnt have any affect on the phone during the animation. I dont know how to increase it. I think we have to mess with the codes to change some prefrences, but i dont know how
You can increase the db level, but you will at a certain point induce clipping and the sound quality will go downhill fast. Best thing to do is find an audio source for the same file which was ripped at a higher quality.
This is not a coding problem. Its a source problem.

I disagree. I have used files that are excellent sound quality and volume, and the boot animation sequence plays the .mp3 at a greatly reduced volume.

How is that going to help? I do music, so I am well aware of what a quality sound wave looks like. I have an MT4G, and I have run multiple different files for the boot sounds and they all play at a low volume.

Ok, you do music smartypants. Figure it out yourself then. (I can make my audio play loud btw, but then I don't do music so obviously I have no clue). Bye!

My point was simply that sending you the .mp3 was not going to help. If you want to act all high and mighty about it that's on you lol

On my phone, the ringer volume seemed to directly affect the volume of the boot sound. Maybe it's the media sound level or something and by coincidence the ringer volume was the same, but whatever the case one of those made it louder and then quieter and also muted depending on the volume level I had going. Because I've changed nothing as far as the sound file itself

Morning all,
Love this phone, love love love. What I'm worried about though is the in call volume on headphones. Doesn't matter whether I'm using the supplied Samsung ones or a set of Sony ones the volume is so low that the person at the other end is in audible.
I have no problems with volume on anything else (as in music player on in call volume using the actual phone)
Anyone else experiencing this or am I just very unlucky.
I've noticed this too. When having earphones plugged in the call volume is just too low. Last night I had to plug mine out and xall again because I couldn't hear her properly. Good point

this is absolutely the worst news possible, because i make 99% of all my calls with my headset. you guys are saying it is not usable? most of my calls are on the freeway with loud raod noise.
Post on here somewhere secret codes for volume ++

I wonder if this is connectd to another very frustrating problem I've just discovered. When I go out running, I normally have Spotify playing in the background and CardioTrainer occasionally prompting me with updates on how badly I'm doing. Worked fine on my old Galaxy S, now I can't hear the updates over the music because they are so quiet. I've tried fiddling with all the settings, and have also tried Endomondo and SportsTracker and they all seem to have the same problem. Anyone else tried this?

Hey,
I have this problem on my (sim-less) SGS2, and no update is available.
Any version number?
i'm having the same problem too. i currently use the stock headset, and am thinking of getting a BT headset as i get calls while driving. tried the app, did not help.
can someone one please help? it will be even better if voodoo sound is developed for i9100. *fingers crossed*
yep. same problem here!
Noticed it as well - on headphones Senn PX 100 II - very annoying (have to plug out the phones each time)
Also noticed the volume problem. The overall voice call quality is not great either. Can someone confirm if the apk. fix helped and if it needs the root access?
