Stereo Bluetooth during flight-mode? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, just wondering- I'm due to go on a long flight next week and was wondering is there a way to use stereo Bluetooth while on flight-mode?
I can't seem to find anyway to re-enable Bluetooth while on flight mode.
An alternative would be to turn off the mobile network some how without going into flight-mode? Is there a way.

I'm searching for a possibility to do that too! Didn't find anything yet..

In 2.1 you don't need a im to work a phone... Maybe that helps.... Sorry I can't test nutton... Im in the hospital as we speak....

Of course you can... I do it everyday at my gym. Just using SwitchPro Widgets and enabling "Turn off signal only" in Airplane Mode. Works great.

Well, you are by international laws not allowed to use any type of radio transmitter in an airplane since it can interfere with critical instruments in the aircraft. So please, obey the laws for the safety of you and your fellow travelers and get a wired headset, you'll conserve your battery as a bonus aswell!

Well Bluetooth isn't radio as such, but a short reply to you, I don't care is there a way to do it?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

So when you crash and burn due to cockpit instrument failure (well change in accuracy) we won't care either - well just for the others.
Turn the thing off when in the air. It DOES matter and it DOES affect flight instruments.

Who's a muppet and who's not is up for debate. I haven't crashed and burned so far when I've travelled and used my bluetooth, find out facts before falling into the propaganda trap. I hope you end up on a plane with me
Now I opened this thread with a specific question, anyone who can answer the QUESTION?

Do you think bluetooth is some form of telepathy?

Transmitting music via fm

I remember reading a while back that the atrix is capable of transmitting via fm. If true can this be worked on? The transmitter is supposedly in active, don't know why.

No, you're not. This, and the hardware keyboard, are the only things I miss about my old N900. I don't think the Atrix has the radio, though. I'd love to be wrong, and would happily set about turning it on if it is present. Where did you hear that the atrix had a transmitter? A cursory google turned up nothing definitive...
I read about it here actually, after work I'll dig around and find it.

Yep i hear it to that the atrix has the option on the chip to do recive and transmit fm but it was disable, and i hear it here too.

3g turns on when you're actually using it...

Is there a mod or app that makes sgs2 data connection behave like iPhone's? it only turns 3g on when you're actually using it... Only 2g stays on all the time...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
That would be nice, however i haven't seen anything like that. You can switch to 2g in the settings but that's about it, it can't switch between 2g/3g depending on usage.
closest thing you will find is juice defender... you can set it to disconnect 3g data when the screen is off..but it's not exactly like iphone setup.
Developers should try to develop something like this. The fact that the phone stays on 3g is one of the main causes of battery drain.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
owh...........
Why not set network type selection as one of your toggles ? How hard is it to pull down your notification/toggles panel, press the icon & manually set your network mode to 2G & leave it that way unless you specifically want to use 3G for something. Or switch it to 2G (or even flight mode) overnight/when you're not doing much with the phone ?
Takes all of two seconds On the other hand, you could get an iPhone.
Problem solved either way.
Re: your comment "developers should try to develop something like this, the fact the phone stays on 3G is one of the main causes of battery drain..." All I can say to this is. It's a smartphone, after all.

You have Juice Defender or several flavours of toggles to suit your needs... Also you can dump the SGS2 and get an iPhone
I tried using tasker to switch to 2g when the screen is off and go back to 3g when its back on but it doesn't seem to be working in cm7, even manually toggling 2g doesn't seem to work in cm7, it just disabled 3g and turns it back on.

Dude, I would never switch my galaxy for an iPhone, never. When I say that developers should try to copy this feature, it's a suggestion to improve Android phones. I'm not a developer, but if I were, I'd do it for sure, and I bet a lot of people would like it. I'm not shouting orders, if you're a developer and you felt offended by my suggestion, sorry.

NFC Tags on the EVO 4G LTE

I bought some NFC Tags to see if they would work on the Evo 4G LTE, and I was clueless! There was preformatted, ultra lights, and etc. I had no clue which ones would work. Turns out the first ones I tried, worked great on my EVO 4G LTE and Galaxy Nexus!

Thanks for the video. I've been contemplating on getting some. Just trying to figure out what I would use them for.

You're welcome. They are just cool, that's all. I truly can see the whole "CM9" and "Profiles" coming in handy! I would stick one in my truck and tap it every time I got in it, to set my phone to loud. lol
I can think of a few things to do with NFC tags, just need to get around to ordering a few.
Anyone have any recommendations on what to get? I'm assuming the larger capacity tags are good, esp for writing complex tasks.
I think NFC tags are rather useless. I keep wanting to use them but can't think of a useful way of using them. If want to put my phone on silent, I'll just use the volume rocker thank you very much. Could someone even tell me what complex task can't be done with just a few strokes?

I have 4 NFC tags.
1) For buddies that visit me frequently to launch Foursquare and check-in to my place quickly
2) A simple Normal to Silent profile toggle. Comes in handy when my daughter is napping. And is much quicker to use since I don't even have to unlock my phone to use it.
3) A switch that toggles a Do Not Disturb profile for bedtime. (I would not be able to toggle this easily without an NFC tag. I would have to set it to a specific time each day. Which is lame)
4) A switch at work that will put my phone into Vibrate mode and launch a ticketing website that I use for work. Then when tapped before leaving it puts my phone back into a Normal profile and sends a text to my wife telling her I'm on my way home. I keep this one by my light switch and turn my light on/off with phone in hand.
NFC tags aren't useful for everyone. But it's definitely helped me automate some of the more mundane and annoying tasks I do every day. And saves me a bunch of time doing them.
I think I need to get some of these...
I just got a pack of them and idk how i was able to live without them. One in the car that toggles betwin bluetooth on and wifi off abd it launches the music player. Other on my bed that turns all volumes down and my alarm sound up. They are nice to play with.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
1st: to make them more useful I used the mod to allow their use during screen off and lock. If I had to turn on the phone and unlock it NFC would be much less useful.
2nd: I don't have any complicated tags. The main one I use turns off wifi and toggles Bluetooth, and starts Multiplayer. So after I start driving I just have to touch the phone to the dash and my music wirelessly starts.
Its not complicated but it is much better than having to turn on the phone, unlock it, scroll to my widget and turn on Bluetooth. I never have to look down off the road.

Why does it have to be a complicated task? Why not just tap your phone to an NFC tag to mute it? or Pop open Pandora when you sit at your desk at work?
Yes, tasks are simple, but they are also repetitive in a lot of cases. Why not have the phone do it for you?

Have a mixture of tasks per tag.
One example is my office desk's tag:
Ring: Off/Vibrate
Notifications: Medium
GPS: Off
WiFi: On
Media Vol: Off
Display: (max)

Tags For Droid. They're the best bang for the buck. You get the largest storage size I've seen at 1KB and a free keychain tag. And they cost the same as others of equal quantities with much less storage, that I've seen on Amazon.

SPYWARE, are you safe?

So I think someone installed spyware on my phone. Is there anyway I can get rid of it, prevent it, and blank the persons blank for doing? The software has to leave a trail of some kind, doesn't it? Don't laugh, it's pretty easy to get on your phone from what I have read, and they can get a lot of info from your phone, listen to your calls, location updates, read your texts and emails, no good or cool.

If I am being spied on, how would I know what app it is? Proof? People know things they shouldn't, I'm not going into details, trust me. I believe they listen to the people I speak with thru my phone and one other persons phone close to me. Information these other people always seem to know about us when they shouldn't know. Phone gets warm for no reason, weird numbers, noises and beeps during calls, sometimes we each hear other people talking during our calls. My girl and I both have DNA's, it also happened when we had RAZRs and Fascinates. Her phones, the battery always dies a lot faster than my phones always did. My phone is 90% of the time on wifi, hers not, and her data is always high, she doesn't use her data at all, other than a few emails here and there.

Or the fbi is watching you. But I'd go with the former over the latter.

I know you guys think I'm nuts, but look up cellphone spyware. I wish I could say who is doing it, but that is sensitive info. And it isn't necessarily bad things they know. Just when we go over there they always bring up stuff my girl and I just talked about. When are phone are on us they never ever call. If we both leave our phones at home for a few hours, like when we take the bike out, all the sudden they call constantly. There's tons more. I just want to know how to remove it and prevent it.
It's there, it's real, and all too easy these days to spy on someone using there cell. I've read it can reinstall it self after you factory reset your phone and it is virtually undetectable. Every time we buy new phones the person I speak of sends a text with a pic, after that we never get texted by them. Or after an update (OTA) or otherwise. I was just hoping I could get some real sound advice being this is XDA.
Check it out, I was thinking about doing it to the suspected persons

You still need to install it on the phone. You can't push it on the phone without you knowing. Like it says on the website you linked to, it's either a link you need to click on, a qr code, or copy the install file from a computer via usb.
Either way, just do a factory reset.

Anyone know if our phones can talk phone to phone using bluetooth?

I googled it but it talks about file sharing. I can't find anything talking about "talking". Is there an app for non rooted phones. I can root, but I'm sure my friends won't. I want to run something with a headset and mic and cruise on the motorcycle within a few yards versus buying the $350 deal.
I personalty don't think it will work even if there was an app. My jabra cuts out streaming when the phone us in my back pocket vs my front. You may be better off with the small handheld walkie talkies. Just have to figure out the where tk mount the button.

There is a product by Xlink called cell gateway, you might be able to setup something over WiFi between you and the other person but not sure if it's designed for that..
