[Q] Re-Applying Hard SPL - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi
I ahve recently sent my phone back to o2 for a repair, i had HardSPL applied beofre so i could flash roms but since getting it back it has not go this anymore.
does anyone know if i can re-apply the HardSPL without killing the phone ??

Yes you can.
I am surprised that they fixed your phone when it had HSPL on it. I know that T-Mobile UK consider that a breach of the warranty and wont fix the phone, even it the fault has nothing to do with HSPL.

HELP! think I've stuffed my TMOBILE uk hermes :-(

Hi guys,
Upgraded to 1.16 radio - (Tmobile UK ROM)
This kept 'hanging' so upgraded to 1.20 - this failed
Left with NO GSM - followed steps as requested set pass etc.
Still wouldn't upgrade
Tried to put latest ROM on (South african?) this FAILED but installed boot load 1.09 - argh!
BOUGHT (£20) the imei-check to downgrade - this WONT WORK - keep failing!!
Please help - stuck now - phone boots - but has NO GSM all the time...
Please help!!
please attach a usb monitor capture of a full rom upgrade until it fails. Probably will be "cid not allow (255)", but just to make sure.
No T-MOB001 rom exists yet
Did that - thats exactly where it failed!
Is it stuffed? :-(
I don't know, never had one of those with "NO GSM" error on my hands.
Probably as radio is screwed CID is corrupted and you'll not be able to flash a ROM even with your original CID. I think for you the best would be to send it to service centre.
Yeh, thought it may be stuffed! FUnny thing is, when I do a hard reset, it doesn't have the NO GSM, it reports 1.16.0.0, it's as if the T-Mobile customs reset it all. Is there any way of stopping the customs?
Regardless, I have had the phone < a month so I'm ringing customer services to see what they can do - maybe not admit I've tried to upgrade it just yet!!!

Click to collapse
I guess by "customs" you mean the Extended Rom, if yes, just do a soft reset before it installs (3 seconds). But I don't think it would do any difference...
Ok- update to problem,
Managed to downgrade from 1.09 to 1.04 of bootloader usining IMEI-CHECK.
Did HARD RESET and plugged in hermes when "press screen to continue" came up (just booted) linked to ACTIVESYNC then ran the software IMEI-CHECK sent me, this connected to hermes and asked for .unl file from imei-check. This 'downgraded' to 1.04 of bootloader.
Then managed to install a 1.13 radio rom - hermes still kept hanging -but I could use phone a little (managed to make 2 calls before a lock up). I was going to re-install another full rom upgrade - I think this may have sorted it, but by this time I had rung T-Mobile support in UK and they agreed to replace unit (I pretended it had gone wrong 'all on its own' hope Karma doesn't catch up with me!)
I THINK I would have managed to sort this using the solution from IMEI-CHECK and this forum by reapplying another full ROM upgrade. So thanks to everyone for their help! Hope this is of some use to someone!

Downgrading to Voda rom gone bad :(

Help
I've gone through the steps on http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=59&Itemid=27
to downgrade from WM6 to the official Voda wm5 release (as i need to send it back for repair, dont want them making any excuse not to do it)
but now all the phone does it do the voda spash screen, then the "windows mobile" blue splash screen and hangs there.
any ideas?
i've put the unit in to bootloader and reflashed but hasnt helped any.
also using 2.10.olipro
just to add i just tried to upgrade it back to schnaps wm6 rom and even though it worked it still says vodafone on the splash screen, so dont know think it worked.
dont all rush at once.
managed to sort it in the end if anyone cares

Having problem upgrading Roms

I've had my 8525 now since June 2007. I'm on my third 8525 because it appears after a few monthof use either the soft keys stop working or the touch pad. Well I just received my latest new 8525 in the mail and tried to upgrade the software yesterday but none of them want to work. They get to 1% on the upgrading screen and then the phone restarts itself and the RUU says the file is corrupt, and it says that with all the different versions of Roms i have downloaded. I researched this stuff as much as I could yesterday but a lot of it seems complicated. I see that there is a crack to unlock the CID but that it voids the warranty. What am I doing wrong here, or better yet, what should I do in order to get my phone to upgrade to the Rom that I desire? Thanks and sorry for being such a newbie at this stuff but I havn't had any problems on the 2 other phones i've had before.
You should (MUST) have Hard SPL on your device before Flashing. With HardSPL it tells the device that all RUU's are OK. I guess that's what's happening.
As for breaking the warrenty, well its your choice.

Hermes does not work anymore

Hello,
i am trying to install a the old WM 6.0 on my O2 XDA because the Hermes does not start every time i turn it on. The Problem is that the install stops at 12 %. After five our six trails the install rans through this point and completes the install. But this WM 6.0 has the problem that it will not boot every time, the phone-functions does not work every time and so on. So i tried to reinstall the OS and now i'm standing on 12 %.
The WM 6.0 install comes directly from O2.
Here the dates out of my bootloader:
HERM100
IPL-1.04
HERM100
SPL-2.10.Olipro
Sorry if my question is a little bit stupid. But my english is very bad (as you can see ) and so i can't find an answer.
Can someone help me?
Try to reinstall the shiiped carrier rom. The rom it originally came with.
Do this using the sd card method. Its safer, especially if you are flashing a radio rom.
Check for bad blocks. This could cause the original symptoms you said. Look in the upgrading ection for instructions...
Cheers...
Thanks for the infos, but i have phoned with O2 today. They will repair or exchange my device.
No my question is if i am allowed to change the bootloader to "SPL-2.10.Olipro" because i have done that
Or should i try to downgrade to an older version? Do you know which version was first on the device?
Thanks
push. Could someone help me plz?
If you're trying for a warranty service then it would be best to downgrade spl. However, you may not be able to....
Search the wiki for instructions, they are there...
Cheers...
Hmm damn, do you think they won't exchange the pda with the changed bootloader?
As you remarked it semms to be hard work to replace the bootloader by an old version.
There is a chance they MAY charge you for repairs or replacement. This can be VERY ouchy....Lotsa $$$.
Perhaps i should ask the hotline if it's okay or not. Even better than paying bills for sending in an bricked Hermes.
NOT OK... Changing the SPL on your Hermes is instant void warranty. You need to change it back.
Any idea on which version?
No one any idea which SPL original is on a Hermes?
Hey!
Now i have tried to downgrade to 1.10 Olipro, have installed a WM 6 Rom from HTC but nothing happend. The device works for the moment, but i am sure that the device will break down the next days again.
Any other idea how to downgrade to SPL 1.11? I am running out of time
No idea? Anyone? Running out of time (warrenty) ^^

[Q] Bricked HD2 with HSPL HELP!!

Hi
Yesterday I bricked HD2 trying to install this htc.com/europe/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=839&news_id=485.
Its a TMOBILE-US and I installed hard spl on it as well as a custom rom.
The device wouldn't go to bootloader mode (vol down + restart) it will not start, will not charge, nothing.
I also tried hard resetting with no success.
I did some reading, but everything I found required having access to bootloader mode.
Can I unbrick from this situation? is there some way to flash from the SD WITHOUT having access to bootloader mode.
Please help me rescue my 2 months old baby!
nope, dead, gone and bye bye.
The link you posted i couldnt get to work, however i notice it has europe in it,(plus there are NO tmous compatible roms on eth htc website) meaning a rom for a regular leo, meaning a radio with ..51.. in the version, meaning dead tmous hd2.
Warranty return it, dont mention flashing.
Ouch. I thought HSPL would save me.
Anyway, warranty is currently out of the question since I don't live in the US.
Thanks samsamuel for the reply
no worries, sorry it was such grim news.
