Hello,
I have a big problem with my new vibrant (3 weeks). I'm really disappointed.
The vibrant doesn't start : the screen stay off. Nothing happend when I plug it.
I can't go to download mode with the special USB cable - R=301ohms (the cable is OK).
I don't know if it an hardware or software problem.
I have done some operations on my vibrant. The last ones are:
- Flash to T-Mobile with :T959UVJI2-HOME.tar : OK
- Install Z4root application : OK
- Install ROM manager : OK
- Download "Axura21VE.zip" on Internal SD Card : OK
- Install with ROM Manager "Axura21VE.zip" :
- the phone restart with setup new ROM (progess bar seems ok)
- the phone restar finally and nothing happend ... !!
- My phone seems definitely bricked
Do you have any idea about that ?
Do you know if a missed flash can definitely break the phone ? The phone come from U.S and I'm based in Europe... There is no international warranty.
Thank for your help.

I would like to apply those steps but
"1.Your Device must be in DOWNLOAD mode to use ODIN." => Impossible to go to dwl mode.
Do you have any idea about the phone ? What can I do if download mode does not work ? Do you think this is an hardware problem ?
thank you very much for your help.
keep trying to get into download mode..
1. connect USB cable.
2. Wait till battery indicator is visible, and you can see the current charge in green.
3. Hold vol+ and vol-.
4. Press power until screen goes black, then let go of power only.
5. Should see the yellow digger.
i almost bricked my phone recently but i was able to odin back to stock and save my phones life.. this may be the only way
Try this way to get into download mode.
Pop out battery just the be totally sure phone is powered off.
Start odin and have it waiting.
Plug USB cord into computer but not phone.
Hold both volume buttons and plug USB into phone - it should power up on its own in download mode.

I had gone crazy .... but now I'm happy because my phone works
I explain what I did:
1: remove the sim and sd card
2: remove battery
3: plug the phone with PC
4: press V+ and V- (not power)
5: while pressing V + and V-insert the battery
finish....here's the download mode
im glad fixed ur phone, but most people know this and they should know this before flashing any phone. But u dont need to remove sd card aND sim. Heres wht i tell everyone and it seems to work for most people.
power off phone
pull out battery
GRAB THIS STUFF : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047087
turn on odin
attach phone to pc with usb cable
now while holding down both volume buttons put battery back in.
now you should be in download mode and go back to stock with odin from here!
make sure u put the proper .pit and .pda file in there proper places on odin and ur set to go.
Enjoy and also make sure u have the proper samsung drivers
Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!

IT WORKED!!!!!
power reset or unknown download mode simple fix
I tried various other things, but what worked for me, and as described in this forum, was quite simple:
Power-down phone
Remove battery (I did not pull my sim)
Start Odin
Usb-plug phone to computer
Press volume buttons
Insert battery while holding volume buttons
(At this point the Vibrant came up with the hoped-for yellow triangle, and I was in business)
Reflash with SBL of your choice.
All fixed, no jig, no adb. I do have the Android sdk installed, including the USB driver, and may have left an adb server running from previous failed attempts, which may have had some effect, but probably not.
very nice method tnk you sure much
BOOM!

Hi everyone,
Just joined the XDA Developers group to get some expert opinion from the Gurus here.
I have been using the ROMs to upgrade my many android phones successfully in the past from Motorola Cliq, to Orange San Francisco to my Galaxy S2 to now Galaxy Tab P1000.
The trouble came when I thought of upgrading my wife's Samsung Galaxy S2, and I will be dammed if I cant fix her phone.
The phone was on Android 2.3.6 before I tried my hands on it.
I downloaded an ICS ROM (I9100XXLPQ_I9100OXALPQ_I9100XXLPQ_HOME.tar.md5 from dont know where) and used Odin v1.85 to flash the phone. Everything went well until the phone rebooted.
After the reboot the phone entered the OS, but now I have no home screen except the status bar on top which I can pull down. The status bar is fully functional i.e. it shows that its connected to wifi, shows its on Silent mode, shows the right time, and battery and also the USB connected icon when I plug in the USB.
The trouble is I cant do anything else as there is nothing else in display, I cant switch to apps screen and therefore I cant get on to Settings or Google Play to install any apps to reboot into recovery mode.
The worst part is that the phone now doesnt go to download or recovery mode, whatever I try (volume up/down, with or without home key pressed, with and without USB cable plugged in etc).
All I can do is to connect the phone using USB and transfer from and to files to it.
Can someone help me to understand how to recover this phone, and if there is any other way to go to download or recovery mode without using any key combinations? or if I can remotely run the apps from a PC using a USB cable? Samusng Kies does seem to recongise the phone, but I have been unsuccessful in using "Emergency Firmware Recovery" or "Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation" so far on the phone.
Any help will really save my time to continue my research on other home projects to keep my lovely wife happy :silly:
1-download stock firmware from sammobile.com
2-go to download mode - vol down+home+power button at the same time
3-start odin and put firmware to pda collum, dont touch anything else on odin
4-conect usb to pc
5-flash firmware
Mistahbungle can come over to your house with a usb jig and fix your phone and your wife can thank him personally....
yeh you need usb jig. as you cannot go to download mode also... hope you got your lunch and dinner

There is no way to get into OMAP mode - without battery phone is recognized as unknown device and it restalt itselt all the time.
Like u see - ONLY DOWNLOAD MODE, wipe doesn't work, any other modes non functioning properly, OS is not starting anymore.

Omg, I forgott to check for reply :/
Yes, I've tried. There was something about unrecognised partition or similar, do not remember now. Phone still dead.
If Download Mode won't work anymore, only a JTAG Adapter with special recovery tools could help. If such a port has been implemented on the PCB for access by LG service personnel. Otherwise it would mean new PCB or better phone in this case.
Try to download LG Mobile Support Tool and connect your phone while holding vol up to enter S/W Update mode. Then click "Options" and next click Upgrade Recovery. Program will download latest stock ROM for your phone and it should help to "unbrick" your phone
That's exactly the final line of defense. If invoking DL mode don't work:
-unplug phone
-force power-off by keeping power bttn pressed, the only way for a bricked phone
-power on
-force power - off
-invoke DL mode
The extra power cycle increases the chance to succeed. It should take about 5 seconds for the phone to power-on after attaching it via usb(with vol-, not vol+ pressed, I think, but that's easy to verify) and go almost immediately into DL mode. Otherwise it's just bricked again or not powering. For this case is the work around with the extra power cycle.
I have this I9100 smartphone, that I really liked once, but I bricked it. It is too long ago so I don't exactly know what happened.
I think I was using some tool to change the partitions or have done something similar .
I tried to use the search but it did not really help me, maybe I don't know what words to use, as english is not my native language.
this is what it does or does not:
power -> nothing
power and vol+-> nothing
power and vol--> nothing
so Recovery does not work, download mode does not do anything but show the following message(this happens only with usb cable) so I think it also does not work
"
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again."
when I try to use KIes and do a recovery it does not show the device.
But once I managed to get it connected to windows 7 and it was shown as Samsung usb composite device(Or something like that).
But it is a real pain as the usb port of the smartphone is not stable, so this annoying sound of connecting and disconnecting is heard everytime I touch it.
maybe I should use hotglue to fix this or bend the plug to get it stuck really tight.
I also tried download mode without battery and then put in the battery. it says battery is to low to do download or something like that. written in small red letters in the first line.
so is it possible to get it back or is it dead? I just want to know if I should try to fix the usb port and keep on trying and searching or forget about it..thank you very much, this is a great community and it helped me already a lot in the past
Hi,
This does sound like the symptoms of a broken usb port. You should fix it as it seems that there is a chance you may be able to revive the device (just from reading).
My general assumption however is that if you can't boot up using hardware buttons and using a usb jig doesn't help, you device is probably dead.
Saber.
You don't use Power+Volume keys for Download and Recovery mode.
But Power + Volume+ + Home for Recovery (and Volume- for Download mode).

Hi everyone ! I appreciate this forum very much since we do help each other here. So thanks in advance !
I've recently got a Samsung GS7 which was a carrier operator based system (Orange France) and recently, it gave me a bootloader error. I did reflash the bootloader with a newer version and also the system (Android 7.0 FTM) via Odin, all was working perfectly till I downloaded Antutu and tried the benchmarking, when the system went to the CPU multithread, the phone did reboot and when it started, I uninstalled that application to avoid problems. Then, the phone didn't want to reboot afterwhile.
I'm blocked with a black screen and all keys combination doesn't work.
I really need help. It's a G930F. If you need any information; just ask.
Hi , did you flashed 4 files on Odin ? and Did you tried to flash with Samsung Smart Swich ?

Yes, I did flash all 4 files (BL, CSC, AP and something else as described in odin).
I did try the Smart Switch recuperation feature but it didn't gave me any option, then after flashing with Odin, I did retry once the phone has completed his turn on ignition, it just gave me a feature to upgrade the phone.
The Emergency Software Recovery and Initialization you need manualy to do like in that video , first you need to put your phone in download mode .
Because you say that screen is black hold just power button for about 10 second to make sure your device is off , then Hold vol - Home and Power to enter in Download mode for bout 7 second and then release power button , wait just litle and then press vol + like for odin flash and then try The Emergency Software Recovery and Initialization. If it Doesn't work try with old version of firmware to flash , if you are able after that to enter in to recovery Wipe Cache Partition and Reboot your phone.

The Emergency Software Recovery has been removed from Smart Switch. Sorry to say that but I can't access it.
Also, I can't enter the download mode or the recovery mode. I'll wait until the battery goes empty, and then, will try to charge it to see if it changes anything.

You can try that , but try this , press and hold just power button and plug USB on PC and your phone to see if is your device recognized as Exynos 7422 for example if it is then your Bootloader is dead .

I think it may be a software issue, the battery was working fine three days ago, I was working with the phone for about 5 - 6 hours without charging, it wasn't a battery problem.
Tomorrow, if letting my phone discharge and then charge doesn't work, I'll put it in charge for 3 hours.
Thanks !

The phone worked after letting all the juice go empty and recharge it for a couple of hours. It is working now perfectly.
Thanks
I'm glad to hear that

It just did it again, I was downloading a file and then, the phone did make like a screen cracked and it went off another time.
Is it a software issue or a hardware issue ?
I'm not sure first what file you was downloading and how you mean like screen cracked ? Colors or what ? ( Try to do Factory Reset and do Wipe Cache Partition if the problem comes again probably you have device with hardware issue .
Here is the screenshot of my software system infos.
Also, I get a small line with grey pixels like the old TVs
