The fascinate is like the exact same phone, just with a flash, yet they have found stable kernals above 1.7. Is this not possible on the vibrant?

Same hardware.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I know, so why do they have faster more stable kernels
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Would you give up froyo for more kernels? Theyre still on. 2.1
Sent from the Bermuda Triangle.
There is a weird quantum mechanical phenomena whereby the presence of the camera flash somehow causes the circuitry to be more stable. One hypothesis, presented in the latest issue of Science, is way over my head, so I won't even bother trying to explain.

What is the best stock rom you guys have used? Im using Eugene's Gingerclone 2.2 ROM and like it a lot. But I'm just curious what's you guys think is the best.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
What do you mean by stock? Ginger clone is not stock.
I know. That's why I'm inquiring peoples opinions about their pros and cons of the roms they've had experience with.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I dont think anyones stock experience has been all too great tbh, i.e. lag and no gps. I like the feel of nero roms the best, but ive had better gps and battery life with axura. I havent tried any other roms than those 2, I keep toggling them as they come out
Even this Gingerclone is starting to lag. I would like something with no frills or extras. Just a stock rom, like what you see on the Nexus line. No UI, nothing to slow it down.

If only CyanogenMod supported our devices...
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Get gingerclone, its the best and closest to stock froyo besides unofficial one.
Use a lagfix, don't do any more "rooting" "flashing" etc. then it'll be like ur on stock.
Try Nero

Just wondering if you are getting in on this 4g rom and if you will bring it to Axura?? I want to wait for a more stable build then whats available right now. And I love your roms.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
my guess he will............
Man I hope so. I usually go with TW or master cause their roms are most stable (in my opinion). I guess it will be who ever posts one first.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
There is no advantages of the 4g rom. Jillette has even posted this statement. No performance increase at all from what he stated. This is why he is pulling his tonight. I doubt we will se much more roms from the 4g release. Wait for krylon360 to release a stable gingerbread.

QUOTE=jellette;Well, the Alpha may not last. To be honest, the only real benefit of 2.2.1 over 2.2 is in the mind of the end user - simply because it says 2.2.1 now. This system is not ready for our daily use. The 4G is nothing more than placebo for us. For these reasons, V4G may not stand, it does not meet EDT standards of being worthy of release, it was posted anyway due to popular demand.[/QUOTE]

Hey went from a vibrant to sgs 4g so I don't keep up anymore and just checked out the fourms again and saw the huge variety of roms and stuff was just wondering what's the best up to date/stable combo there is right now
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
depends on what you are looking for, whether you are on clockwork, cyno, etc...
Do you mean clockworkmod? What's cyno? I am currently using clockworkmod

I can't wait til MIUI has working GPS ... I had it on for a couple weeks and loved it more than any rom out there. Kernel - meh.
Try Revolution Rom RC1.1, it is really stable, it is GB 2.3.4, GPS works, and the kernel is bullet by cmenard.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
none of these roms are really gonna work well on the sgs4g, that said i know krylon mentioned a way to port vibrant roms to the sgs4g i believe there should be a thread in the sgs4g section
Everyone keeps stating the vibrant has issues with battery on gingerbread...... if this is a driver issue, can't these be borrowed from a phone with the same/similar hardware but is on gingerbread? And why doesn't Samsung at least release the nessary drivers so the phone can be supported seeing as they don't seem to be willing to put gingerbread out for it......
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
This has been answered a million times dude. First we dont even have a leak or anything for the vibrant, were using the 4g's leak which is different codes, different radio's etc. Blame T-Mobile for dropping support on this phone.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
My questions haven't been answered.... why can't we get the proper drivers from other phones that use the same chips?
There are numerous other galaxy s phones..... where all the same chips (other than the radio )will be the same! GPS, CPU, graphics etc. Are the same...... so why can't these items be ripped out of other Roms to make the vibrant 2.3 roms?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Because no other phone is using the same driver/firmware combo. The closest things we have are the captivate and i9000 which both use different radios. Same is true of the vibrant 4g.

The captivate is very close to ours.. the issues ive seen with gingerbread seems to be more than the smal.hardware differences of radios and such, so if there is a more clear answer what the big problems really are, im curious.
since they just leaked the 2.3.4 for captivate I was hoping we would have a better Ginger coming.. or at least should be a good sign that ours(leaked Ginger) can't be far behind right?

I'm not sure what exact answer you're looking for but the differences don't end at the radio.
The accelerometer on the captivate is turned 90° which would need to be fixed in the kernel.
The radio differences render the GPS useless without the same hack that we presently have.
The button layout is slightly different though an easy fix.
Using a captivate firmware is no different than using the i9000 firmware. Just because the phones look alike doesn't mean a thing. Once you start looking beyond the outer physical appearance you'll understand that the Vibrant is rather unique. Of course there are work arounds and hacks but nothing that we aren't presently doing. Without someone stepping up on a regular basis and compiling kernels that implement certain fixes or without a leak of our own nothing changes.

I guess I meant the problems the current roms have for many people. GPS is a given, never could get it working properly, but instability and atrocious battery life would make me think we were using a ported rom from a totally different phone.
I guess the thing I'm wondering, if there's been 2 Ginger leaks for captivate, then a vibrant source must be in the works and can't be far behind right?
It is amazing that you devs have managed to overcome all of the issues that you have, something the OP really needs to realize.. most thought it unlikely or impossible that ginger would be working as well as it is..

I flashed the Glitch kernel...
this where I'm still a learning n00b...
I get the Glitch graphic when the phone is powering on but how do I know if this kernel is FULLY working? Or is it?
If you get the glitch boot animation and your phone is properly running...odds are its installed fine, but you should go and grab voltage control from the market so you can overclock and under volt to gain the most from this kernel.
Voltage control will also verify whether or not you have the glitch kernel since it doesn't work with stock kernels.
As side note I also recommend grabbing cpu spy (also in market) to see what speeds your processor is running at.

well you're seeing the glitch image, so it is working. I can't remember if the lagfix is enabled by default, if so, then you really do nothing. If not, then enable it with clockworkmod.
What I usually do is download Quadrant from the market and run a benchmark. If lagfix is not enabled your score should be around 850ish, if it is enabled, you should get 1500ish score.
Hope this helps... which rom are you using? and how do you find it?

MTD doesn't use lagfix. Which the glitch kernel for vzw fascinate is only to be used on, mtd roms.

I have CM7. I get the Nightlies daily.

Yeah it isn't voodoo lagfix, just voodoo sound and color. MTD runs better than voodoo ext4.
If you get the glitch boot logo then it worked, you're on glitch. To get the most out of it download Voltage Control and Voodoo Control from the market, voltage control lets you control the CPU and voltages to save battery and get performance customizations while voodoo control gives you some cool options with sound to enhance the quality of music and color to make the screen look however you want.
Now I hit over 2,000. I have no idea what it means, lol.

It a benchmark.. quadrant runs a series of tests.. i.e. memory read/write speeds, cpu, graphics, etc.. the it gices a score on each test, combines them, and compares them with other phone models.
I think I'm beginning to understand.
I went to the Voltage Control and jacked it up to 1700mhz and this phone basically flies out of my hand, and the battery life basically dies. So I lowered it.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
If you can do that without the phone messing up, you're on the right leakage. lol
The new glitch 12 release has some recommended setting you can try out.

It's still beta, right? I want to wait until it's stable. Isn't that the best idea?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
No, beta doesn't mean "it isn't ready for people to use" but just that it isn't fully 110% stable and still might have some bugs. It'll probably never be "stable" just because of the spotty hardware and other issues, but I've been on glitch since it came out and it has been perfectly stable. If you wait for an officially stable release you'll likely never get to experience the awesomeness that is Glitch.
v12, like v11, has been rock solid for me as well.

Start with high and with your way down in leakage and see which is the most stable or can handle the most overclocking...all phones are different and handle leakage values differently but i'm pretty sure that low leakage is the most efficient and generates the least amount of heat but some phones will preform the best and be the most stable on medium or high..experimentation is probably the best answer
