[SOLVED] Flash from SD - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone point me in the direction of flashing a ROM with an SD card?
Can this be a custom rom?
I flashed via sync (cable) a zillion times, but latest chuckydroidrom I flashed, my phone can't be recognised anymore, so no active synch. but the phone does work. only I can't sync which is obviously a problem..
can anyone help me?
Thanks for the support
edit: I downloaded an older version of windows mobile device center and that did the trick!

1) Prepares your SD (<8GB SD Card)
a) Format your SD by FAT32
2) Take the "RUU_signed.nbh" from your ship ROM and copy it to the SD card.
3) Rename the "RUU_signed.nbh" to "leoimg.nbh".
4) Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.
5) Follow the instructions on your screen.

thanks kurt
Version of OS: 5.2.21869
Manila: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM: 1.66.404.1 (76641) NLD
RADIO: 2.06.51.07
this was my rom, where can I find this stock rom? And does the install of this rom erases HSPL?
will this one be good: RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.66.404.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship

Here you have the 1.66 NLD stock ROM and yes, flashing over SD will remove HSPL.

thank you for the advice.
I will wait for the dev and if he answers (I really hope so) to help, and if not this is my only way out. so thanks for your advice kurt! really strange that the phone won't sync.

Can you get into Bootloader? if you can, and connect from there to your PC; it will mention "USB" at the bottom. If this is the case you can also flash.

HardSPL from Micro SD

So I dont have a windows computer. Im not gonna install Windows on anything, i dont plan too. i was wondering if it is possible to HardSPL from a microSD card, like we do for ROMs, any ideas? thanks.

Where do I get the HardSPl image file!? I cant extract it from the exe and i have no clue where else to get it.
I dont think you can hardspl through a SD card. Look at the Raphael wiki
Use at your own RISK!!!!
I extracted it from the EXE. But beware I have never flashed hardspl from the SD. I have no idea if its going to work. If you try it please report your finding. Please report back so we will know if it works or not. I also renamed it RAPHIMG.
Somebody else reported in that flashing HardSPL from an SD card simply bricked his device. In other words: you had better not try!
Listen to the Finger-the Finger will not do you wrong.
Any update... Did you give up on this
As finger and Ted said better not try it and read the wiki on Hardspl.
just read this

I tried on my Touch pro and it didn't work, how ever it didn't brick my device, just got stuck on the bootloader screen, gave it a soft-reset and it was back to normal, had to do it through the PC.
However, if you read the link posted above you'll find the following:
Flashing via MicroSD Card
1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 using a PC (you dont have to delete all files but it is safer if you do)
2. Download your prefered Radio from the Raphael Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your computer
3. Goto the Radios Folder and rename the .nbh file to RAPHIMG.nbh
4. Copy the RAPHIMG.nbh file to the root of your microSD Card
5. Plug the microSD Card into the phone
6. Press and hold the volume down button, then press the reset button with the stylus. Release the volume down button when bootloader tricolour screen appears
7. Follow the onscreen instructions to start flashing
8. After the flash finishes press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device
6. JOB DONE. Well Done YOU DID IT!!

Thats for Radio and not Hardspl. Those are two different things
You canNOT flash an SPL to your device from an SD card. Needs to be done via a USB cable...
there is no working method to flash HardSPL from SD card. It is not working like normal flash... DO NOT EVER TRY TO DO THAT! If you are using linux you can flash HardSPL from windows running in vmware workstation, or vmware fusion on MAC OS X. Any other methods will lead you to serious trouble!
I tried to put that file on my phone, then booted into the tri-colored screen. it didnt recognize the NBH. So i didnt even get to try it.

Dude, it has been mentioned many times: it WON'T work. But hey, don't take our word for it--why not ask Olipro or cmonex (the folks who created HardSPL) and see what they have to say...
As stated by several senior members in this thread ... HardSPL is not intended to be flashed via SD Card.
I highly advise following the procedures for HardSPL as already noted in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008
Since you are not interested in installing Windows, you may need to ask a friend who is running Windows to assist you.

HD2 Flashing to Stock Rom/SPL

Hi, All
I have been having problem flashing my HTC Touch HD2 back to stock.
I have followed the instructions on Bepe's Thread but I am still having problem.
This is what I have done:-
1) Formatted my MicroSD with FAT32
2) Copied the NBH from stock rom, renamed to LEOIMG.NBH & copied to route of memory card.
3) Inserted memory card into phone, held down Volume down button for 3 Seconds & pressed power button.
I get the multi coloured screen but no instruction to flash rom. It just stays on that screen & nothing happens.
I have tried different roms & different memory cards just to test it, but still no luck.
My HD2 is running HSPL & Topix Custom rom.
I would appreciate the help as I am selling my HD2 with Warranty & don't want void Warranty.
Please Help
Thanks

Hi,
Do you think I should try HARDSPL ing the phone again
Thanks

does it come up as HSPL on bootloader screen?
Tbh you might as well re-install HSPL as administrator.
Then re-download and checksum the leoimg.nbh.
Also check if the device sees the SD card and can read it in normal use in the ROM.
If in doubt, you can always install the stock ROM via the RUU app which HTC provide. that should overwrite HSPL.

did you flash it via sdcard then? if you did it should have overwritten..
if you are still struggling to get the file recognised flashing via the sdcard, then try another sdcard, such as the original 2gb one it came with..
Try plugging the device in to the mains. Sometimes does weird things for me... If it is, then unplug it and try again.
It also may work better with FAT (FAT16) rather than FAT32, but I have flashed ROMs from FAT32.
i sucessfully put my o2 ROM back on, ! i checked the SPL and even that went back to stock. flashed as you did, from the storage card! mmm!

1 are you sure you are using the correct rom.you haven't said whether your phone is htc unlocked or provider rom locked.
2 you never answered the question as to how you were flashing, because you said that you flashed the wwe but hspl was still there, which can only mean you used usb, plus if your phone is provider locked then you need a different rom.
confirm you have the correct rom , format your sd card through the phone, copy over the ruu signed.nbh rename leoimg.nbh
reboot your phone holding down volume.
anything?

The phone is unlocked & Simfree. When I flashed it with the WWE rom via USB.
Also I renamed the stock rom to leoimg.NBH & copied to root of memory card. I held down the Volume down button for three seconds & then pressed & held the power button. When I had it formatted as FAT32 nothing would happen, but when I flashed it with FAT16 I got a White loading screen & nothing happened after that.
I can get into the Hard Reset Screen.
What am I suppose to see on the screen.

OK, just to confirm, you downloaded the wwe .exe file, you opened the exe with a zip program, extracted RUU_Signed.nhb, moved ruu-Signed.nbh to your sd card, which you had formatted IN THE PHONE and then you renamed ruu_sugned.nbh to leoimg.nbh
Then, phone off, , , press and hold vol down, tap power but contiune to hold vol down.
phone SHOULD boot into bootloader, and it should automatically discover there is a leoimg.nbh file on your sd card.
If it is the wrong image, you should get a failed instal, but if you phone does nothing at all then either the sd card is faulty, or teh sd card reader, or the nbh file.
just a thought, when you are renaming the ruu_signed.nbh to leoimg.nbh, you do have file extensions shown? becaue if you don't, then you could be renaming the nbh file to leoimg.nbh.nbh , , , you wouldn't be the first.

Flashing stock ROM simple question

Ok,
I've downloaded a stock ROM from the HTC site and want to install it. I keep getting error 266. Yes I've read the wiki, searched plenty. Tried most fixes.
Just want to know, if I'm flashing a stock ROM do I need to install HSPL first?
The tutorials I've found are mostly for custom ROMs and as far as I know for a custom ROM you need to install HSPL.
Do you need to install this for a stock ROM?
Thanks.

No sir; Stock ROM don't need HSPL, (and certainly not in combination with 3.14 stock ROM)
Error 266 is a connection problem; are you well connected over active sync? did you disconnect AntiVirus temporary?
From where do you get start Home-screen or Boot-screen?
Witch stock rom are you trying to install?
I didn't think that it needed HSPL.
Yes, I've double checked the connection in windows mobile device centre. (running windows 7)
I have turned off the realtime protection with macafee.
It gets to the bootloader (Multicoloured screen)
It says USB in the white section at the bottom. Installs drivers but then errors with 266.
The ROM I'm trying to install is 3.14 from the HTC support site (Cannot post link)
Would it be a good idea to try an older ROM first?
Thanks,
Al

No, no need of a older ROM.
And about the link; no needed. I know it
A suggestion is to try to flash while you are on home screen instead of Bootloader; and try a otter usb port (if you have).
Ps; restart your pc and device firs.
PS 2; don't forget to run the RUU_Leo_S_HTC_... by administrator [right click on it and select Run as administrator]

I've tried it from the homescreen (I think) Whats the difference? I plugged in the usb cable and selected activesync mode. Then as it starts to gather information it changes to the bootloader.
I've tried different usb ports. Also tried a hub. I've rebooted my laptop and phone many times.
And I've also tried running as an administrator.
I don't suppose that you can unpack the .exe and transfer it to the memory card and run it from there?
And I don't suppose having HTC Sense disabled would cause any issue.
I could try a hard reset. Although it would restore it (would do once its updated ROM anyway) but I don't want to have to set it all up again if the update doesn't work.
Any more idea's?
Thanks,
Al
Okay; strange.
Try than to flash over SD.
- Take your "RUU_Leo_S_HTC_..." file and extract the "RUU_signed.nbh" file from the ROM, rename it to "leoimg.nbh" without ""
- Place the "leoimg.nbh" on the root of ur SD.
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.

[Q] Tried to remove HSPL, now I'm in more trouble

Hi,
I've installed HSPL and wanted to go back to SPL, so I downloaded any random ROM (Salvatiion) and put the LEOIMG.nbh in the root of my sd card. Rebooted and ran the nbh. But instead of going back to the original SPL, I still have the salvatiion stuff and I've still got HSPL. How do I go back to my old version of SPL and the original Windows Mobile 6.5?
I can't read my ROM version since it now reads Salvatiion WWE :S
tnx in advance
2 Ways to remove HSPL.
- install stock ROM over SD.
- Using HSPL2_RUN.exe and select a spl value.
