HD2 Vodafone UK - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Experts,
I was trying to load a India official ROM on my UK Vodafone HD2, and it now always shows this ROM is not suitable for ur phone, please upgrade the correct ROM. The phone now only shows this message. I tried to load a Custom ROM through SD card. It installs but at the end when I press the reset button, it again displays the same message in RED.
Please help.
A beer from me if you get this one cracked for me.
Regards
Chirag

Try then to flash over SD
1) Prepares your SD (<8GB SD Card)
a) Format your SD by FAT322) Take the "RUU_signed.nbh" from your ship ROM and copy it to the SD card.
3) Rename the "RUU_signed.nbh" to "leoimg.nbh".
4) Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.
5) Follow the instructions on your screen.

so i have this ruu.exe from HTC with, how do i get the .nbh from it. ignore my foolishness here, as i m not much tech savvy.

No problem sir,
When you get the .exe From the ROM; right click on it and select extracting by (WinZip/WinRar/7Zip)
Then you will see a lot of files in it; just take out the "RUU_signed.nbh"

i'll try this, and if it works a beer comes ur way as a thanks from me.

Make attention to Download and use the UK Vodafone ROM!
Edit;
This was the latest one: ROM version:1.72.161.3

here comes your beer, enjoy.
Sorry but how much is the beer cost? let me know and i shall transfer to ur paypal.

[assumption: HardSPL'ed]
Remove the battery from the device to turn it off and put the battery back in but don't turn on the device.
Copy a knonw "working" rom to your SD card and name RAPHIMG.NBH. Place the SD Card in your device.
Hold the Volume Down button and while holding it down, turn the device on. You should enter the Tricolor Bootloader and the NBH file on the SD card will be flashed to your device.
HTH,
You're phone's cdma, right? Flash a stock sprint rom (e.g. if you're on sprint).

Then the procedure I noted should work ... assuming your device is HardSPL'ed.

Good catch ... keep forgetting to ask that question.

Well...
Ir can be caused by many things... It's actually hard to say why... It could be a bad flash, or some allocation issue on you phone...
If you can't flash another ROM right now you can try [I am not saying it will work] to hard reset... Action + Down + Soft Reset and follow on-screen instructions.
Regarding your question about a «good ROM» recommendation... That's up to you. It depends on your preference, a question of personal taste... It depends on what you expect form a ROM... Etc... No answer to that question
In extremis, if you want to be ABSOLUTELY sure about the ROM version you will use, you can always revert to the stock ROM prior to flashing a cooked one...
Good luck.
Cheers.

Try this procedure:
Remove the battery from the device to turn it off and put the battery back in but don't turn on the device; also remove any SD Card - shouldn't be required since you don't have one at the moment. Connect the device to your computer using a USB cable.
Copy a known "working" rom to your computer, you'll also need the Custom Raphael Flash utility. Rename the rom to RUU_SIGNED.NBH.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410761
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008
Hold the Volume Down button and while holding it down, turn the device on. You should enter the Tricolor Bootloader; after a minute or so, you should see the word "USB" at the bottom of the screen. If not, there is a problem and you will need to use the SD card approach.
Launch the Custom Raphael Flash utility; it should discover your connected device. Proceed as you did before to flash the RUU_SIGNED.NBH.

Yes, you just rename the file and transfer to SD card as hilaireg stated in the first reply. Then just follow the rest of the instructions from there. And there is always this thread on flashing for all reference and answers.

same way you do with screen being responsive:
Flashing Via MicroSD Card
NOTE (PLEASE READ): If you flash a Stock Rom via microSD Card then it will overwrite your HardSPL with a stock SPL included in the nbh file. If you flash a v2.01 or later Rom (with SPL2.*) you will NOT be able to reinstall HardSPL onto your device and could end up bricking it. This does not apply to custom roms as they do not include an SPL. BE CAREFUL!!
1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 (you dont have to delete all files but it is safer if you do)
2. Download your prefered Rom from the LEO Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your PC
3. Goto the Roms Folder and rename the .nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh
4. Copy the LEOIMG.nbh file to the root of your MicroSD Card
5. Plug the MicroSD Card into the phone
6. Reset the device while pressing the volume down button to enter the BootLoader screen, you will first see a tri-color screen with the phone and SPL Information at the top
7. Follow the On Screen instructions to start the update
8. After flash has completed, press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device.

[SOLVED] Flash from SD

Can anyone point me in the direction of flashing a ROM with an SD card?
Can this be a custom rom?
I flashed via sync (cable) a zillion times, but latest chuckydroidrom I flashed, my phone can't be recognised anymore, so no active synch. but the phone does work. only I can't sync which is obviously a problem..
can anyone help me?
Thanks for the support
edit: I downloaded an older version of windows mobile device center and that did the trick!

5) Follow the instructions on your screen.
thanks kurt
Version of OS: 5.2.21869
Manila: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM: 1.66.404.1 (76641) NLD
RADIO: 2.06.51.07
this was my rom, where can I find this stock rom? And does the install of this rom erases HSPL?
will this one be good: RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.66.404.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship
Here you have the 1.66 NLD stock ROM and yes, flashing over SD will remove HSPL.

After flashing a 2.000 rom on my HD2, everything stopped working. PLEASE HELP!!

OK, I wanted to format the internal storage so I Task 29 it.
It told me to hold the volume down button when it reach 99%
Well it stopped at 96% for a while, so I held the volume button down
Now when I turn on the screen, it just shows the loading screen towards that CleanEx rom and nothing else!!!
Bootloader mode only supports disk drive connection to pc so I don't think that's appropriate.
I need help because I am about to give this phone as a gift

Why not extract the nbh file from the downloaded rom, rename it as required (leoimg.nbh but please check on the site, I'm on my phone so you'll have to do that ) place it on the root of ur SD card, go into bootloader and if you take your fingers off the keys at the right time, the rom will flash directly from there.
I have a MAC and flash via SD card all the time

Flashing stock ROM simple question

Ok,
I've downloaded a stock ROM from the HTC site and want to install it. I keep getting error 266. Yes I've read the wiki, searched plenty. Tried most fixes.
Just want to know, if I'm flashing a stock ROM do I need to install HSPL first?
The tutorials I've found are mostly for custom ROMs and as far as I know for a custom ROM you need to install HSPL.
Do you need to install this for a stock ROM?
Thanks.

No sir; Stock ROM don't need HSPL, (and certainly not in combination with 3.14 stock ROM)
Error 266 is a connection problem; are you well connected over active sync? did you disconnect AntiVirus temporary?
From where do you get start Home-screen or Boot-screen?
Witch stock rom are you trying to install?
I didn't think that it needed HSPL.
Yes, I've double checked the connection in windows mobile device centre. (running windows 7)
I have turned off the realtime protection with macafee.
It gets to the bootloader (Multicoloured screen)
It says USB in the white section at the bottom. Installs drivers but then errors with 266.
The ROM I'm trying to install is 3.14 from the HTC support site (Cannot post link)
Would it be a good idea to try an older ROM first?
Thanks,
Al

No, no need of a older ROM.
And about the link; no needed. I know it
A suggestion is to try to flash while you are on home screen instead of Bootloader; and try a otter usb port (if you have).
Ps; restart your pc and device firs.
PS 2; don't forget to run the RUU_Leo_S_HTC_... by administrator [right click on it and select Run as administrator]

I've tried it from the homescreen (I think) Whats the difference? I plugged in the usb cable and selected activesync mode. Then as it starts to gather information it changes to the bootloader.
I've tried different usb ports. Also tried a hub. I've rebooted my laptop and phone many times.
And I've also tried running as an administrator.
I don't suppose that you can unpack the .exe and transfer it to the memory card and run it from there?
And I don't suppose having HTC Sense disabled would cause any issue.
I could try a hard reset. Although it would restore it (would do once its updated ROM anyway) but I don't want to have to set it all up again if the update doesn't work.
Any more idea's?
Thanks,
Al
Okay; strange.
Try than to flash over SD.
- Take your "RUU_Leo_S_HTC_..." file and extract the "RUU_signed.nbh" file from the ROM, rename it to "leoimg.nbh" without ""
- Place the "leoimg.nbh" on the root of ur SD.
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.
