I got Barnacle working to a t its perfect, however as soon as i try and wep password it, the app force closes, the only way to fix the fc is when i open barnacle i have to quickly hit menu uncheck the wep pass protected, to disable that feature, if i do not do it quick enough i just have to uninstall reinstall. What causes this and why? I can connect but no wep, so, so could my neighbors.

All of a sudden, I cannot access WPA2 networks on wifi anymore. WEP networks work fine. My school's WEP network conebut when I try to connect to a WPA2 network, here's what happens:
1. phone connects successfully.
2. open browser
3. attempt to load google/yahoo/cnn/bing
4. loading inevitably fails
Does anyone have the same problem? Any proposed fixes?
Wolfbreak's CM ROM. BB58. THANKS!
Hey,
I'm having major problems with wifi on my x10. Yesterday, the phone suddenly couldn't access the internet over my home wifi network, which has a WPA2 personal passphrase. The phone still showed up as connected to the network, but could not get online. I reflashed my x10 with SEUS twice, reformatted my memory card, triple checked my router settings, but no matter what I do, I cannot get WPA2 personal keys to work. WEP keys work perfectly. Does anyone have the same problem? Can anyone help me out?

For a lot of custom roms, the ability to automatically connect to WPA- and even some WEP-encrypted networks is a challenge, and not many people seem to know the specific reason for it.
A lot of people have been using a free app from the Market called Blade Wifi Fix, which has mixed results (I haven't had it work for me, but it does for other people).
The fix I use is to disable Wifi, then re-enable it, wait for it to show Disabled on my wifi access point, then choose it and press connect. That usually works for me. But again, that's just for me.
Hello folks.
I would like to be able to use a wifi tether on my mini pro (SK17).
I am rooted on 4.0.2.A.0.58 and did install the Barnacle WiFi Tether.
If I start the program and want it to tether the log only shows "starting..." on the second and further attempts.
The first attempt (when wifi is enabled) I see on the screen (not in the log) "Disabling wifi manager" and the log shows "Waiting until WiFi is disabled".
If I check wifi, it's already disabled.
Anybody an idea what the problem might be?
Heya.
I don't think you need 3rd party applications nor root to do wifi tethering on the sk17, I don't at least. Not sure all sk17 come with this by default as some carriers may dislike it or not grant access to this menu if your phone is branded but try going to Settings -> Wireless & network settings -> Tethering & portable hotspot. You should find a menu with all you need to share your phone's internet. Setup SSID and password, etc.
Hope this helps.
OH. Thank you for the hint. Sure enough found it...
Cool Does it work or are you having trouble tethering that way too?
Hi all,
Does FoxFi work for WiFi tethering when NOT yet rooted, on Dinc 4? Anyone actually tested it? I'm between this and the S III, and tethering will be one of my uses. Since VZ locked S III I think I may get a Dinc 4.
Thanks for any inputs!
I have the Dinc4g, and have not rooted it just yet.
I have been trying to get FoxFi to work. My laptop will connect to FoxFi and receive an IP address via DHCP with no problem (using WPA password). I can successfully ping the phone while connected, but can *not* get out to the internet. I may be rooting sooner than later, as I too need to tether on occasion. In the mean time, I will be settling for a USB tether..
Edit: FoxFi does appear to work if you use the Proxy option (requires the FoxFi add-on). I was able to browse using FireFox after setting up the FireFox network settings to use the Proxy.

Absolutely 100% same issue here, connects, grabs an IP instantly, but it cannot browse out. The proxy-add on gives me instant web access when configured, but obviously I cannot use any other services over the proxy (like RDP, Ping, VPN, etc.) It seems almost like there's a firewall or routing issue on the phone on the NAT side of things. I can ping the gateway (192.168.43.1) but cannot route beyond it.
Can't grab IP
I'm using a Motorola Atrix HD and I can't seem to get my Nexus to grab an IP from FoxFi, even with the app.
working for me right now: FoxFi Addon, Firefox set on 'no proxy'
I just got my one today, I was all excited to set the phone up and get all of my apps and things on it. I finally got it home, and went to connect it to my router, only to find out it's apparently incompatable with my WEP encryption? is there any way around this?
Every time I attempt to connect via WPS, it gives me an error saying WEP is not supported.
Edit: It seems to be a WPS related problem, I entered the password manually and it worked fine.
You need to get off wep asap! Might as well be open. Wep is very insecure. Can crack it in just a few minutes. Wpa2 is what you need to be on.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda app-developers app
wep is not secure, i suggest you use wpa2 encryption as above
Is there an app that lets me automatically turn on wifi when I try to connect to the Internet and after a while not using it to disable it? I really need that because I hate toggling wifi and sometimes my sister doesn't disable it and my battery is drained :-[
Tasker
Tasker Wiki
You can create a profile that your wifi starts as soon as the browser is open.
You can also decide when the wifi should be terminated.
I have tried it. Iys very good but I have a problem : When I close Google play or browser or anything wifi closes too. Also if I am inside an app and I press for example share to Facebook I see no connection error and I have to close the app turn on wifi and re-open the app and it's annoying! Is there a sensor in tasker about Internet connection?
Change the wifi advanced settings.
Go to Wi-Fi, then press Menu key then select Advanced Settings. There you can change Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep setting.
Depending on your phone you might even have other interesting options there, such as Wi-Fi timer.
Just set the auto sleep in Wi-Fi settings. This will only disable Wi-Fi when it isn't used
Sent from note, a phone like never before
Think that doesn't work :-\
