I connected my phone via wi-fi today and to my surprise, the Update Notification in the phone prompted me that V10E_00 is available (my stock firmware is V10B_00).
I was a little skeptical at first (cause I already tried flashing via kdz updater to v10C and v10A before putting it back to v10B since there really was no difference) so I turned on the official LG Software Updater, and there really is an update available, so decided to go ahead with it.
Will keep you posted on the verdict...
UPDATE: the update went smooth (though I had to manually turn the phone back on).
what i noticed:
1. all apps and contacts and messages are still intact. same bloatware still there too (layar, app advisor, task killer, et al..)
2. 2 new apps in the application directory ("App installer" and "Games")
3. android version is 2.2.1, Build Number FRG83 (it used to be 2.2 and FRF** as I recall)
4. kernel version is 2.6.32.9 dated NOV 30 2010 (it used to be OCT 5, 2010).
5. Phone got unROOTED (as expected)
hope this addresses the random reboots, sd card gets unrecognized and the lgmits error thing... will observe as time flies...
UPDATE 2:
z4root (v1.3) can't root this thing
Best news I've heard... Am a victim of sd card error...
hopefully it does fix it, i'll keep you guys posted in the next few days.
still haven't found a way to re-root this damn thing though... lol!
I am still stuck at V10B. Is V10E already available in the Philippines? When I connect my phone, it always tells me that I have the latest update.

That happens in all Android devices and not only on LG P500.
Google said that problem is almost resolved on Gingerbread.
The most important problem i hope that LG fixed in this new version, its the SD Card Unmount Issue.
Seems that this is more problematic on the P500, as I've had other android phones...
About the SD unmount problem, I've yet to experience it

That happens, because other Android devices got the armv7 at 1Ghz.
We have an armv6 at 600Mhz, so its natural that we notice that problem more often.
Wait for Gingerbread, Google said the problem is almost minimized

@kaitee:
i bought my phone here in manila. i didn't use LG PC Suite 4 to update, i used the LG Mobile Support Tool (http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/client/app/B2CAppSetup.exe)
@gemarc:
didn't notice any improvement playing Angry Birds.
@socialdistortion:
the kernel is different as well as the Android build, it is now 2.2.1 buil FRG83 from 2.2 FRF91.
i don't know what's the difference between the 2 builds but i did notice the easier methods of rooting the phone no longer works. must be security patches.
the only thing I'm hoping for is that this fixes the LGMITS force close thing and the SD Card unmounting randomly...
will keep you guys informed as time goes on...
Just installed the latest version. And put back the problem SD card. Hopefully the random unmount problem will be solver

The update is not available OTA. But you can download the firmware and flash with the kdz updater... Check the language availability in the above post...
anyone have any idea when india will be getting the gingerbread update for the p500? i just updated the latest firmware to android 2.2.1 or V10C through the LGMobile Support Tool (which really pissed me off as it kept on hanging and i had to start all over again).
weird thing is i had to re-download the same update of 126 mb loads of times and i was surprised it wasnt the gingerbread after all. it did get stuck midway at 37% while installing and i had to restart my phone by taking the battery out, but when the phone started, it said the latest firmware was installed, which is a very freaky way developed by LG to install updates. was wondering if ive done anything wrong??
also, is V10C really as bad as some forums say?
w.r.t backup - do i need to backup the apps even if they are saved on the memory card? as the support tool says, it needs to by done via astro, as it only backups contacts, photos and videos. any way to save the messages and settings?
I am facing a very annoying problem: my x10 mini(unrooted) automatically gets restarts.
Some of the days it works fine. But once it gets restarts then it restarts atleast 3-4 times a day. I have tried to reinstall the android firmware but still the problem prevails. I keep the phone memory at 21-22MB level, is the problem because of this( But I want to tell you 1 thing that I bought the phone in november and in feb end my phone was not switching on ,then I went to SE service centre they reinstalled the firmware and the problem was solved. Since then I am facing the problem of rebooting, before that it worked fine. I used to keep the phone memory around 2mb in the initial days of purchasing and it worked fine even in 2mb so I guess low phone memory is not a problem. I rooted my phone in november but when service centre employee reinstalled the firmware then I lost rooting.i.e. Now my phone is unrooted). Can the problem be because of SIM card or SD Card(corrupt files which I am aware of) or it is because of some other reason?
I dont want to go to the service centre because I feel that they will just reinstall the firmware which I already have done. It would be great if you could tell me any solution. If not the solution then a user friendly and so technical language using app which show the log of my phone so that I can figure out what happens in the system. But I really want a solution. Please guys help! Hope you guys would bring all your experience into play and help me.

Well ..people will need some more specific info ..like are you on the latest SE update ? what programs did u install (seems u did install quite a few as ur phone memory is ~22 MB ). Anything you noticed when it reboots ? Like while doing some operation or running something in particular when this reboot happens ?
Why dont you do a fresh flashing of the latest update through SEUS (not PC companion) and then just stick to the stock ROM (without installing anything else) for 7-10 days and see how it behaves ?
You can always take a backup of ur essentials like SMS and contacts (if you are not syncing ur contacts with google ) before you flash using SEUS.
There are ways to check the logs (using logcat ) but not sure how much effective it might be as u might not be in a position to check logs everytime when your phone reboots.
Hope this helps. Really there was very less inputs available for giving any solution.
I am having the latest android firmware. I updated the android firmware by downloading a firmware file avaible on the sony's website, I don't know what it is called but I surely didn't used pc companion for updating. There is no specific app which I am using when it restarts.
I will give any necessary info which will help you to suggest a solution.

you cannot just download a firmware from SE site ..it can be done only by two ways one via PC companion and the other by SE Update service. (SEUS)
And yes , it would be better to reflash through SEUS . It does seem that you have installed lots of things ..better forget them now and just use the stock ROM from SE.
Hi all
I have a user at work who purchased an S3 in the US and has since been using it fine in the UK, but now when trying to update the software there is an error of - This device has been modified no updates available, also when using Kies I still cannot update the software for them:
- The S3 has never had an SD Card, and still doesn't have one
- It has never been rooted, simply used out of the box
I've tried booting it into safe mode and wiping the cache but still no joy
Thanks

Hi everyone, I have an LG Optimus G (F180K) and I've been using it fine for the last couple years and most recently under the V30D firmware which is KitKat 4.4.2. I've flashed CM11 and MIUI on it previously but restored it to the stock rom several months ago and have stuck with it since. About a week ago I flashed MIUI again as it seemed there were new builds avaliable. The installation went fine but when the phone booted up I realized I didn't have any service and my service provider was not being recognized as it just said "No service". It did show there was a SIM card inside though. So using CWM backup I restored back to my original stock rom and realized there was still no service so I did a clean factory reset. That didn't fix the problem so I tried updating the phone with the kdz files straight from LG's servers which still didn't fix the problem. I checked my IMEI which was not broken and the phone number of my SIM card is recognized but it just always "No service". I tried reverting back to stock rom and factory reset multiple times the past week but it still won't work. Any help? Thanks
