[Q] A lot of problems with 1024 leo - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay i have been going at this for 6 hours trying to figure this out.
I bought a HTC HD2 off of craigslist today for 200$ when the person gave me the phone to try it worked i played around with it and about 20 mins after i started messing with it ( the transaction had been made) it just shuts off. I go to turn it back on and it gets hung on the Stick Together screen after hard resets soft resets lukewarm resets.. every reset on the web nothing works i tried updating it nothing worked (from official firmware)
in the middle of all this it gets to a point where the stick together screen would be there for a split second going blank and the phone would vibrate 7 times.. no one knows what this means even HTC
i look online and people are saying install custom firmware sooo i downgrade from 2.10.0000 to 2.08.0000 and install a custom firmwar Kumar v4.1 touch premium with thier recomended Radio file.. i do this about 3 times.. now instead of "Stuck together" its stuck on the custom flash splash screen.
i tried the task 29 and doing it all over again and im still stuck
HOW DO I FIX THIS? did i just spend $200 on a peice of $#!7 paper weight?
any advice would be helpful.. though "search the thread noob" wont be applicable to me .. i searched it for a few hours to no avail.
if i missed the page please direct me to it instead of being snide about it chewing me out for spam post wont help me fix my problem

Set your device into Bootloader
- turn off device
- press and hold volume down button
- pres shortly on the power button
- you will see now a 4 color screen = bootloader
=> can you communicate us the values you see on your bootloader screen.
And just a question, witch Radio did you install?

PB81120 SS-B3
SPL-2.08HSPL 8G XE

Cotullahspl 0x50

I don't see direct reasons of problems based on this information.
Maybe a suggestion is to install a newer stock rom.

that was the first thing i tried when i first got the phone, when that didnt fix it i resorted to installing custom firmware.. right after i went on the forum and posetd i installed artemis custom fw and left the battery out over night and when i woke up i put the battery back in and it worked perfectly.. well almost.. it booted up none of the programs would work no camera no game nothing it always said either program wasnt set up or there wasnt enough memory on the phone. so i turned it off ( huge mistake) and put the most recent stock firmware on it after reverting the HSPL back into the SPL 2.08.0000 and its stuck on the stick together screen again

Can you get it into BootLoader Mode, as I suspect that the SPL is still 3.03.0000
You cannot use HSPL3 when you have a 3.03.0000 SPL on the phone.
What stock ROM are you trying to flash?

T-Mobile_HD2_MR_Software_3.14.531.1
thats the name of the file i downloaded to do it .. i reinstalled the stock SPL and tried upgrading it to the file ^^^^ left the battery out for 30 mins plugged it all in , it booted does alot of stuff but when i touch the camera button it froze shut down and locked me out again at the Stuck together screen.

im willing to donate 30$ to whoever can help me fix this
i have more info about the crashes and whatnot
today i have been keeping a record of how long the phone is on for and what im doing when it crashes and wont reboot without keepign the battery out for 15+ minutes
turning vibration on for ringer was only on for 5 mins
using the camera not even taking a picture just looking through the lense on for about 15 mins
trying to send a text message on for about 10 mins
just now had one whil just letting it sit there after 15 mins

i have still been browsing the forums for solutions im thinking it could be the radio file im using that futzing up so ima try that
also .. WTF does MTTY actualy mean .. is it a more formatting formatting utility .. or.. what?

Okay so i updated the radio to Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14
and now when i turn on the phone it vibrates 7 times with no image

if i leave the battery out for 15+ minutes it boots up just fine till i start to actualy use it. i can play a video listen to a song but i turn off data and then turn on wifi and it locked up on me, only way to get it to turn back on is to pull the battery and let it sit for 15+ minutes again.

soo no one has any idea on whats going on wrong here?
sorry for posting so many times.. i just am without phone and it sucks

try to install artemis rom again with sspl

Trying to get stock ROM back on [PLEASE MOVE TO TMOBE HD2]

PLEASE MOVE THIS TO THE TMOBILE HD2 SOMEONE
Hey guys, i'm trying to get a replacement for my HD2 since I believe i've gotten a bad shipment one however i'm running:
R 2.10.50.26
G 15.39.50. 07U
D 2.13 KUMAR C5
[this is what appears under the stick together when it freezes]
I downloaded the 2.13 stock ROM from the website here, opened in winrar, extracted the ruu file, reformatted my microSD to a FAT32, placed the file on it and renamed it to LEOIMG and then helpd down the down vol button and hit the power button, it flashes the rainbow screen thing, flashes loading really quickly then goes back to the rainbow screen and says the following [pic included but taken from a crapberry so sorry it's hard to read]
[apparently I can't post pics? so here's what it looks like I can provide a picture link via PM unless I get verified]
[RED BLOCK]
PB81120 SS-B3
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x05
[GREEN BLOCK]
[BLUE BLOCK]
[WHITE BLOCK (also says serial)]
Any ideas why I cant flash the stock ROM so I can return this without voiding the warranty guys? It'd be much appreciated.
Also if it matters i'm using the TMobile 1024 HD2. I just got it about 5 weeks ago
trying to use a 16gb sd card? 99 times in 100 they fail. (well, the one that came with the tmous does anyway)
You dont need to use card tho...
assuming you have a tmous phone, (you didnt say, and you're posting in the regular leo section, but im gpnna assume you have a tmous)
1 - run hspl3 - choose 2.08.0000
2 - flash the stock rom 2.13 using usb
done
I'll give it a shot and leave an update, apologies if I posted in the wrong area. The reason i'm trying from an SD card is because for some reason the phone keeps freezing and I pull the battery 10+ times a day and it gets stuck at the stick together screen alot [i'm assuming i'm having some issue with it hardware like a bent pin but since it's getting power i'm not sure???] I figured an SD install would go smoother. My windows Vista doesn't seem to like it too much
dont worry about it not booting, so long as you cam manually get into bootloader, you can run hspl and do usb flashes from there. The phone doesnt need to be booted.
As for teh pins, they should all stick out at teh same angle (i.e straight out, all teh same)
OK update:
I tried formatting my good 4gig SD card, put the file on it leoimg and it ran, got to the installing, gave an error, I took it out now. I go into the bootloader now [just read your reply] and it says
RUUNBH
PB81120 SS-B3
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE
0x05
cotullaHSPL 0x50
[green box]
Upgrade ROM code error Please try again
[Blue box]
[White box]
USB
I have it plugged in via USB now and i'm in the bootloader so i'm guessing this is a good sign, I try running HSPL3_PKG.exe so I can do as you suggested however I get a rapitool.dll error or something, I tried just running the T-Mobile_HD2_MR_Software_2.13.531.1 which is the ROM exe and get some rapitool error as well so I get this genius idea that it must be the lack of windows mobile center6.1 or whatever. I go, download the 32bit and it says its not supporting my processor? so I got the 64 bit and have the feeling i'll get the same error. I'm running Windows Vista, AMD turion x2 so I think it's a 64 bit. I'll reupdate once I try it all again.
UPDATE AGAIN:
I installed windows mobile center [I needed the 64 version dur de duur]
I ran the HSPL3_PKG and got it back to the 2.08.0000
I went to run the 2.13 update and it freezes at 9%, says that theres an error 290 invalid command. I tried to redownload and try again afew times to no luck so far. Here's what the bootloader says now
[RED BOX] RUUNBH
PB81120 ss-B3
SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x50
[GREEN BOX]
Upgrade ROM code error Please try again
so on and so forth.
any ideas would be appreciated lol
CURRENTLY TRYING:
Downloading the stock ROM from that thread [one that's shipped without the SPL?] hopefully it works when I try to run this one and I can just take it back finally. If not and if noone has any ideas i'll just try to bring it back without a ROM on it [I think that's whats happened now] and just say that I tried installing the official update off the tmobile site and power died somehow and I have no idea what happened maybe?
MOST RECENT UPDATE:
OK so here, I got the shipped stock ROM, loaded it up on the microSD and it goes to loading when I go into bootloader and stops. I tried via USB and bootloader and it never makes it past 0% and just stops. I'm currently assuming that there's no actual ROM on my HD2 for now?? When I run the 2.13 ROM by TMob it shows the upgrade from [blank, there's nothing there] and then to: 2.13 before it errors as I have mentioned before.
Currently i'm running out of ideas, I certainly hope I didn't brick my phone and there's gotta be a away around this somehow. If there's nothing there I should try to put HSPL back on and try another custom ROM perhaps? hmm. I'll give it a try since i'm at a loss and noone seems to have any ideas. Please if ya do feel free to share them, I wish I didn't have to experiment like this on my own with not too much knowledge on mobiles. My computer knowledge rests in networking and random bits like Java :s AP comp sci helps not here
*insert happy dance*
slowly but surely i'm learning my way around this...I think
I have done the reverse now and got HSPL back on my phone. Currently I'm trying to install wither the stock rom via USB and bootloader or the Energy.Leo ROM one though both keep freezing about halfway through the install. It's rather annoying because it's happening at what appears to be random times. I'm still considering goign back to SPL and claiming their official update fragged my phone and I have no idea how but I want to keep this trying.
you're sending it back, right? well only the spl is important, doesn't matter about the rom.
so long as in bootloader it says 2.08.0000 or 2.10.0000 then you can send it back.
I think from what i'm hearing your Radio partition is **** up.
Or ur CID isn't working correctly.
Try flashing stock rom with a goldcard....
Or do a task29 and flash stock rom again.
Ended up figuring it out finally, afew days ago, new HD2 should get here tomorrow. I ended up putting the HSPL back onto it, flashing a custom ROM, upgrading it via USB/boot loader screen to the stock ROM that it came shipped with then downloading tmobiles from their site and putting the update onto it and everything is currently as it should be. Radios, ROM and SPL

Noob and Android 2.2

I am trying to get Android 2.2 on my HD2. I was able to successfully flash my HSPL. However I am having trouble flashing the radio and the winrom. Everytime I try to flash a winrom or the radio my phone reboots and the red, green, blue, and white screen appaers and of course the flash fails. I orginally started out with the spl 2.10.0.0 and I was able to successfully flash that to spl-2.08.HSPL using the HSPL3 exe.

This is what I see on the red, green, blue, and white screen. I can then pull the battary to reset the phone but I still does the same thing when I reset it.
How do I get the phone to stop rebooting and allow me to flash the it with a winrom. Thanks for the help.
I See you have TMOUS.
First of all: NEVER flash 2.xx.51 Radios this will result in a brick.
Now onto your question:
What exactly are you trying to flash, and how?
The rebooting into the coloured screen is expected behaviour.
This will remain a bit, then flashing will start.
Are you not to quick?
What acually happens? Does your flash reach a certain percentage?
Have you tried flashing back the T-mobile shipped ROM (via SD Card)?
I am trying to flash the NRG Cookies rom or the NRG GTX rom or the Asterois Standard rom, and I was going to flash the 2.11.50 radio since there was no CUU in the 2.12.50.20_2 radio download.
When I plug my phone up to my laptop and connect it to activesync the connection is good and works well. Once I go through the CUU for any of the above mentioned after I click on the "flash" button the phone turns off the connect to active sync dies and the colored screen comes up, then the CUU comes back telling me that there has been an error and my device is more longer connected and the flash was unsuccessfull , the flash process ever gets passed 0%. Then I have to remove the battery from my phone in order to get it to reboot, and it reboots just fine back to stock windows. Ever tried flashing back to tmobile rom (1) because the rom has never been flashed and (2) because i did not know that I could or even how to.
If Im reading this right your HSPL is 2.08?? If so then your good to go with that HSPL. My HD2s were always 2.10 out of the box. I would use Cotulla HSPL3 and hack it to 2.08 and be done with it. Now you can flash a new radio over and the ROM of your choice. Just a small piece of advice. Done flash a radio under 2.10. For me radio 2.11 works great on all the Androids Ive used and WinMo ROMs. Enjoy
Thanks for all the help guys. I figured out what I was doing wrong.
The problem was that I was using Windows 7 on my MACBook and everytime the rom started to flash the device would discconnect from the VM of windows 7. So I tried to flash it on my windows 7 box and the radio and NRG rom flashed flawlessly.
Thanks for all the help.
Hi there,
i got a problem with putting android 2.2 on my HD2. when i press HARET, it gives me a screen where i can press run, but than i got a message saying "Cannot open script file\Storagecard\default.txt"
Maybe the problem is in the file i downloaden on this site. when i downloaded it, ther is in the map STARTUP CONFIG an map called HD2, but the file in there says "for future release for HD2"
do you guys know the problem?

[Q] Unable to flash any ROM!

Hello,
I'm about six hours into the process of trying to revive a nonfunctional HD2 that I purchased. I'm going batty!
Here is my status:
1) have installed SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE (0x05, 0x40) Cotulla HSPL
2) Have downloaded a few different roms (Chucky, TMO official, Energy) but they either get stuck at 0% or 9% (the highest it's gotten)
I'm getting pretty good at pulling the battery - it's like a new skill I never hoped to have!
I'm getting pretty frustrated because I've read about a hundred different posts on this site and I see that people are getting around this, but I'm starting to wonder if my phone has an issue that I can't resolve?
The phone doesn't boot up at all - it just says "Upgrade ROM code error, Please try again". Prior to my goofing with it, it just got stuck at the "Stick Together" screen. (Unwittingly bought it that way)
If I use the HSPL3_PKG to install/remove HSPL, it only works (connects to the phone) about one out of ten times, and out of the ~ten times I have gotten it to work, it only completed twice with a "We Hacked It" screen. The rest of the time it errors out just as I think it's getting the job done.
If I boot to the bootloader screen, I can put the USB cable in and see it change from Serial to USB (I've tried the thick and thin cables as some have suggested and haven't noticd a difference yet)
Then I kick of a rom update using the update utility that comes packed with it, and either the update process stops at 0% or it has made it all the way to 9%.
I'm in a position to get a replacement from TMO via the person who bought it (two for one, wife didn't like it, I bought it off of him) but I would rather not.
Any suggestions?

Once you have Hard-SPL on the device you don't need to worry about that anymore. Flashing Roms and radios will not overwrite it, that's what makes it "Hard". To make sure it's on there go into bootloader and it should show 2.08.hspl.
As for the radio, for TMOUS, just make sure it's a x.xx.50.xx radio (not a .51) and you'll be fine. If you have radio 2.10.50.xx you shouldn't have to change it.
So now I would try downloading one of the stock shipped Tmo ROMs (2.13 or 2.14). Then remove Sim and SD and go into bootloader, connect USB to PC and make sure it says USB on the device (not serial) and run the ROM Update Utility (RUU.exe). See if that works.
i also got this problem ,will try ur method n c
after hspl ,cant flash finish radio 2.14 it says ERROR (290) INVALID COMMAND.

You need HSPL..
HSPL done ,i tried a lot of files only Miri & Dinik n Duttys Leo Sense file can b flash successfully ,it went into menu once but now hang at htc startup again,,is this hardware problem?
i had the same problem last week. Drove me nuts.
i found there are more than one version of HPSL 3.
you have to download the latest one. for more info,
read my posts at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=789506&page=18
So you need HardSPL3 (the version is DarkForces Team HardSPL3 by bepe and Cotulla 21.06.2010)
If it still doesnt work, take a photo and post your screen
Still no go...
I have installed SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE (0x05, 0x40) Cotulla HSPL, the latest version I could find.
I just tried to flash RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_3.14.531.0_Radio_15.42.50.09U_2.14.50.04_LEO_1.5_Ship and it consistently flakes out at 8%.
I charged the phone all night, booted to the tricolor screen, kicked off the update as an administrator in Win7, the phone got to 8% and then the update flaked out on the PC - "The ROM update encountered communication errors during the update process" (Error [276])
I genuinely think that this phone is bunk - I'm just going to have the fellow I bought it from call in for a warranty replacement.
Thanks for your help, everyone...
SD card flash...
Hi,
I could not see it anywhere in this thread, and also I'm not certain if it is possible on a HD2. But on my xperia I'm usualy flashing from a SD card, copy the image over rename it as KOVSIMG.NBH (guess it would be something like LEOROM.NBH).
Than by pressing (and holding) volume down + power button while the device is off going to the boatloader screen which detects the card (must be inserted and flash from it IF there is the correct file loaded on the card.
Dude,
Did you actually download the HardSPL3 version from DarkForces Team?
If not, dont second guess anything. And if it works, you'll get your phone back.
The file name to download is "HSPL3_PKG.exe". Its by bepe and Cotulla 21.06.2010
If you downloaded the right version. it will support ALL LEO types, and all the SPL versions below:
SPL 1.42.0000
SPL 1.62.0000
SPL 1.66.0000
SPL 2.07.0000
SPL 2.08.0000
SPL 2.10.0000
you just select which SPL version to install in the Choose SPL screen. This version also disables the CID Check.
Dont knock it before you try it ..

Yes you are correct you can flash via SD card. You need a 4GB or lower SD card. This is not to say other higher GB SD card will not work, it is just that it has been stated many times the higher SD cards sometimes work to flash a ROM and sometimes don't. The card needs to be formatted with Fat 32. You have to find the RUU_(wharever).nbh and rename it to leoimg.nbh ( you almost got it righ tsnoffy lol) and copy it to your SD card. insert SD card into phone and hold the volume down botton down anx tap the power button keep holding the volume down button down until you see bootloader come up and say searching then let go of the volume down button. The ROM will flash.

[Q] HTC HD 2 Standard software setup?

whats upp guyzz,,
long story short...
my htc hd 2 crashes like every 5min, after an accident (screen was also broken)....
my insurance fixed after 1 month my screen and I just picked up my hd2,
when I run android, from my sd card, (Froyo hd 4.4) every things works normally for like 5minutes, then i get a screen freeze...
Not only with android but also with a custom windows mobile rom,
before the accident, i never had trouble with frozen screens ectt...
I think the accident didnt only broke my entire screen, but also some hardware inside my hd2...??! that's possible right??
anywayz,
before i send my htc hd2 to my insurance back, I want everything to be default...
Otherwise they can come to conclusion, and tell me ''i focked it up'' by installing some other software that isn't from the htc makers..
like the basic rom, the ugly one....
i downloaded it from the htc website ''rom upgrade''
but could there be any complications?? i mean, I installed other HSPL and changed the ''default'' one (which i dont know what HSPL the default one is)
and the radio? i installed radio 2.12
i hope u guyz got some suggestions or some ideas,,,
Ltrr!

If you already have a higher Stock SPL than 1.42 on your device then you can flash a stock rom using the goldcard method (if you have a goldcard that is) to downgrade your SPL as long as its not 2 or above.
If you have SPL2 or above then you are stuck and cant downgrade to anything.
.
Click to collapse
I have SPL 2.08, now i cant downgrade it?
i installed the ''orignale rom'' for my device, it still gets stuck...
Even on the original rom, which confirms that there is something wrong with the hardware.
if i dont downgrade it, and neither Radio 2.15
does it have any effect on the device for getting stuck?
thnx for the link, but I don't know, is it al right wont it be any problem to bring my phone to the insurance (they bring it to a repairer )with SPL 2.08 and Radio 2.15?
you didnt say regular hd2 or tmous hd2.
regular hd2
-------------
run hspl2
choose 1.66.hspl
install wwe 1.66 stock rom as normal over usb
(if you have/know your correct stock rom, O2, orange, whatever, use that instead, but chances are 1.66 wwe will be fine for returns, its the spl/hspl thats important.)
run hspl2 again
choose 1.66.0000
done
tmous hd2
-------------
run hspl3
choose 2.08.0000
flash any tmous stock rom over usb. 2.10.0, 2.13 or 3.14.
done
Well
does SPL 2.08 effect the basic rom? like stuttering or make screen freezes?
if it doesn't then why should I change the SPL to default, I didn't cause the freezing first place.
my screen never froze before the accident, so suddenly after the accident it gets frozen for like every 5min.
Sometimes my htc doesn't even start, it freezes at the ''white htc screen'' and sometimes it shows like ''negative, black/white'' and I had once... it was stuck I pulled out the battery, and put it back in.. then hit the power button, it vibrates 5times short ( like buzz buzz buzz buzz buzz) WTF?

[Q] Not able to go back to Stock ROM from WP7 - SOLVED

Hello,
I loaded the WP7 yesterday and then wanted to go back to stock ROM today. While I am able to enter bootloader:
It says:
LEO1000 HX BC (2K)
NSPL0.96.2250.0
MicroP (LED) 0x05
MicroP (TOUCH) NA
Now when I run the stock ROM it starts the update and then stops at 1%.
I have tried both 3.14 and 1.66 ROM and in both it says, Error (244): Invalid model ID (This update utility cannot be used for your PDA. Please check your update utility.
Any solutions?
Flash android?

It sounds like you have to run hspl and make it 2.08 hspl
There is a special thread here on How to get back to winmo from WP7, read it!
e:
Did you reformat the card to FAT32?

When I run HSLP 2 or 3 it keeps on saying Critical error - bad model ID.
I will try flashing android and see if that works. I haven't come across the thread you are mentioning but have come across the Android flash thread where they explain in the details other issues but nothing relating to this HSPL critical error Bad model ID.
BTW, I even tried flashing from SD Card but the the bootloader sayd 'SD NONE'. Did format the card to FAT32

Where did you get the download from? It seems to have completely altered your model id in bootloader. You should either have PB81100, PB81110 or PB81120. To my knowledge those are the only model id's that hspl will work on. This is a very old thread I started which allowed hspl to run and bypass the device id check. You may want to try the steps there to see if they help. You will need to modify the steps slightly - in step 2 instead of entering "PB81110" enter "LEO1000". Please note this carries no guarantees and is at your own risk.

Downloaded it from the forum itself. I tried to do what you suggested but now it's giving me an error ''Bad SPL version''.
Any solutions?

Seriously, where did you get your download from, that must have seriously screwed with your phone to change your model id and spl version like that. I installed WP7 yesterday and have just safely reverted back to Android without any hassles. Do you recall what values you had before the flash?
If there is a solution it ain't gonna be a simple one and will need some serious tech help, which is outside of my levels. Even Googling the spl version only returns this thread.
This (or something similar) happened to me. I powered down my phone but did not take out the battery and it restarted the part that loads the win 7 rom while I still got the screen with the coloured bands on.
Try, taking out the battery for 10 seconds or so then put it in while holding the volume down key and powering up.
Got stock ROM back in first time but kiss goodbye to the data on your SD card. I had to use a Canon camera to reformat the card to get back the 14GB it was hiding.

This WORKED. Thanks a TON splinters69.
For future uses, this is what I did.
1. Took out the battery for about 30 seconds.
2. Put one of the LEOIMG.NBH on storage card
3. After putting the battery held the volume down button and pressed power button.
4. It went into HSPL mode straight away and started loading the win 6.5 OS.
You saved the day Splinters69. Thanks to Clydeb1 too for that modelIDcheckbypass.

Phew, that must have been a scare. Glad to see you got it resolved and something so simple as removing the battery - nice one @splinter69.

Yea. It was scary but the only good thing was that I was able to get into MAGDLR so I knew that probably I could install another NAND Android ROM onto it. However, what I wanted was to go back to WinMO 6.5 and then re-learn.
Amazing what knowledge pool we have here, isn't it?
scary that. I think we all fear that at one point or another. thanks for the insight as to how u sorted it.when u said u put a rom back on was it a stock or custom rom.
It was a custom NRGZ ROM.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
cheers for that
Hi all !
I Had the exact same problem after installing WP7 and trying to go back to 6.5 :
Boot Screen was displaying :
LEO1000 HX BC (2K)
NSPL0.96.2250.0
MicroP (LED) 0x05
MicroP (TOUCH) NA
Whenever i try to flash back to any stock / signed ROM it failed at 1%
splinters69 technic is working perfect .
1> Switch Off you phone
2> Remove Battery & wait for 30secs
3> Hold Vol Down + Place Battery back in + Press Power Btn
4> BootScreen Should display your previous version of HSPL.
5> Dont need GoldenCArd , just use RUU FLASH MODE
Thx guys !
I installed MagLDR 1.12 and WP7... after restarting the phone, it kept reseting after about 15 seconds of DFT screen, so i couldn't flash another rom.
After that i took out the baterry and flashed a 6.5 rom and then flashed MagLDR 1.13 and WP7. This time it worked.
Thanks everybody, for posting such helpful things.
Hi all, tried the above mention steps but still couldn't flash it back to stock rom.
It always stuck at 0%, anyone can help?
Is flashing back to WinMo from WP7 the same as from NAND android?
