[Q] X10HD and xRecovery-0.2-HD - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
Quick question re the new xRecovery for X10 HD phones?
When you hold down the power button on the FeeX10 beta3 ROM you get the option to reboot and then the option to reboot or go into recovery; has anybody tested to see if this fix launches the recovery mode i.e. you go into the xRecovery console on reboot without having to press anything?
I ask as I'm using an X10i (or HD, whichever) and I can't access xRecovery now I'm running FreeX10's ROM, so in light of the new hotfix I'd like to know if this works before taking the time to reflash my phone and start from scratch with 2.2
Many thanks in advance, and kudos as always to the fab work by the developers.

you must use the oldfashion way.. tapping the back button several times.

Thanks, but it doesn't really answer the question though, does it? Reflashing my phone and starting from scratch to use this new xRecovery HD will take some time, which I am reluctant to give up if I end up having to press back when booting to enter xRecovery when it's supposed to do it for you?
In another thread the developer talks about Recovery mode not working, I just wondered if this had been fixed now ther devs were aware of the issue with X10 HD, and asked it here on the Q&A as I can't yet put the question to the developer on the relevant thread.

doens`t work. the boot into xRecovery i mean...
i don`t even know why this is in reboot opitions at this point. definnatly will be usefull but not at this point.
to ashure you have xrevovery installed you have to press several times on back button or menu one or even power...home too (god damn...all of them work LOL)

It's a pity that doesn't work, as I since I installed 2.2 via FreeX10 I haven't been able to access the xRecovery console.
Re this, should I still be able to access xRecovery now I've moved to the Custom ROM?
Thanks for your more helpful response

[Q] Cannot run xRecovery

Hello. I have currently tried to install xrecovery to be able to install a custom rom to get Apps2SD, but even though I have tried every method I've found on this forum, bricked my phone once and repaired it, tried again, I -cannot- boot into xrecovery.
Can anyone help me to please pinpoint the problem? The method of starting xrecovery is pretty crude aswell, making this issue real annoying, as I don't know if maybe I didn't push the back button at the exact right time or something like that.

Ok, first, when are you starting to push?
* Start pushing the backbutton right after you feel a vibration!
* It's the Sony Ericsson logo with ONLY text they're talking about!
* Some1 says it worked 4 them pulling the keyboard out after the vibration !

Got a mini pro.

Hey people.
Trying to get my friends mini pro sorted out.
What rom is the best with all the goodies working properly? "preferably fast as well"
What do i need to flash it?
How do enable proper dual touch?
And can you please provide me with a few links.
I'm kinda lost here, no idea what to be searching for.
Well firstly you will need to update the phone, make sure the baseband ends with 015. Make sure the Firmware is 2.1update1 or whatever it is called.
You need to also make sure your Build Version is 2.1.1.A.0.6
Once you got that sorted you need this here to root it and flash/push the installation of xrecovery onto the device which is found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913136
After you have rooted your x10 mini pro you can then reboot your phone. Once the Silver 1 lined Logo comes up saying Sony Ericsson you can press and hold down the BACK button to boot into xrevovery.
A menu will pop up and you should be able to learn more from here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878427
(I don't have much time atm so i will edit in the rest of this for you within about 10 hours or so... So my apologies.)
OK. I'm back for awhile so i will try and let you know about the rest of the **** you should know about...
So as i have explained above you can use the all in 1 installer to have your x10 mini pro rooted and have xrecovery installed on it also.
When you have that done you turn off the x10 mini pro, turn it back on after 5 seconds and as soon as you see the words in silver/white - SONY ERICSSON - you can either press and hold the "back" button or press it over and over until a different menu/screen appears.
The first thing you should do before trying to flash anything is a backup so you can use the side buttons for the volume to move your options up and down. You will need to press down to go to the Backup and restore Function.
Once you have that highlighted you can press the middle button on the xperia and it will basically be like an "A" button on a ps2/3 etc. You will then be given Backup - restore and advanced restore options.
Select BACKUP and give it anywhere from 2-10 minutes to backup your entire device. The good thing is if your phone totally becomes ****ed and you cant boot into Android all you should need to do is boot into xrecovery via the back button and the first logo you see.
After the backup you will want you press the back button a few times and press down or up until you have PARTITION TOOLS highlighted. Press the middle button and select the MOUNT USB option. Connect the x10 mini pro to your pc now.
Once connected you can copy over the rom found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059361 (after downloading - roughly 130mb) and its hotfixes...
So once its over you should be able to press back until your back at the start screen of xrec(xrecovery) and you can now select the option for full wipe. After that select install custom zip, and then find the file name of the rom which should still be a .zip file. You then need to press the middle and select yes and WAIT.
Afterwards feel free to reboot the phone and give it extra time to boot up. If you are stuck in a boot loop then your baseband is not the current baseband.
ALSO!!!!!!!!!! if you cant seem to get 2.1.1.A.0.6 and the baseband which ends with 015 from the normal sony ericsson updater then you need to search 2.1.1.A.0.6 for x10 mini pro and download the custom backup and put it in the xrecovery folder and in the backup folder. After that and after another backup of your x10 mini you can then RESTORE from that which will basically update your phone... you shoudl then be able to search for the baseband which ends in 015 and find the flasher tool. After following those steps in the thread there you should be at 2.1.1.A.0.6 with the current baseband...
Once you have achieved that, you should have no problems with booting.
(Sorry for my sloppy ramble - my first helping sorta thing xD)
Thanx alot
My this has saved me alot of work searching.

[Q] Bricked X10 Mini Pro

Hi everybody,
I had the CM7 v15 Android 2.3.3 on my X10 Mini Pro but i wanted the 2.3.4 and i installed the CM7 2.0.4 for X10 Mini not X10 Mini Pro and i bugged all my cell phone.
I cant use TouchScreen, I Cant Reboot, i just can ShutDown and When i Turn This On Again i can load xRecovery what can i do to unbrick???
The best option was a Hard Reset but i tryed i shutdowned the X10 Mini Pro and i pressed "Back Button + Turn On Button (to reboot the cellphone or to turn on)" and nothing happens just loads the CM7.
If i need to use FlashTool please gime the link of the Downloads for the right FlashTool and the Drivers for my X10 Mini Pro from Portugal European, and the tutorial link please, and teach me how to turn on the cell phone via usb to the PC because no Devices are detected coz i cant use touch screen to activate this it just charges the phone.
Just Help Me guys i just have the phone for one day o-o!
If someone portuguese can help me please send me your e-mail via PM!!!
I found the answer for my problem. Ill make something like a tutorial now:
To unbrick:
-Download the Update Service.
-Acept the Agreements (sorry bad english i think i failed but u know)
-Choose Your Phone (in my case and probably in ur X10 Mini Pro)
-Now, Turn Off you Cell Phone.
-Put your battery Off
-Plug the usb cable in your cell phone
-Now Plug the USB in Your PC
-Now press the back button (in the programs he says volume down but its back button)
-And with the button pressed put the battery in again.
-When the program says to stop press the button u need to stop.
-Now let the program do his job.
Sorry for bad english and this is all.
Tips for xRecovery and Root X10 Mini Pro:
-You need to use a specific RootExplorer (i uploaded it for you: mediafire(dot)com(bar)?87zjj86mj6td603)
-In this specific RootExplorer to move the 3 xRecovery Files u need to Mount C/W or CW and now you are able to move this.
This is were my fails so now are my tips.
Hope Helped You and Enjoy this, Sorry For bad English

Whats the best ROM At the moment? Im with CM7 v15 Android 2.3.3 is it the best??
It cannot be bricked... it can only.. transform.
If something goes wrong for me, i use Flashtool. I downloaded the original SE rom, and it can flash + root + xrecovery + clean in a couple of minutes.
very VERY easy to use
the topic name made me worried before I entered
SE update services is the first things I installed after bought the X10 mini pro,and in the first time I tried to install the new rom I have to use SEUS to recover the phone

"Best" is in the eye of the user (as usual) but my personal experience (which is just from a mere 1 months time of tampering with the phone) seems to be leaning towards CyanoComb 1.4 and the new 2.3.x ROMs that are still under development.
So far I've had some issues with the newer ones, although most of the ROMs that D4rkn3sSyS (sp?) has been working on seems stable.
The list of ROMs I've tried and comments about them :
- CyanoComb v1.4
Stable, well suited for more "active" use, has so far not been a major issue in generic use, some "Force Closed" applications has occured but that is most probably due to my own stupidity (not cleaning caches etc). Seems to be "the better choice" for me.
- FroyoBread
Still heavily under development, nice to work with, but due to the amount of hotfixes and (imho) messy development feedbacks from the ROM developer(s), it's starting to annoy me as such (the radio-application and camera were a bit shaky untill I managed to pull the correct package-files hidden well inside the threads for it). Also gave me some headaches when flashing (again, might be due to my "newbieness").
- Andread
Tried it for a brief moment, I really didn't want an SE-style phone again, so... Your mileage may vary if you like having it SE-styled.
- SonyBread
Seemed nice, but as with Andread, it kind of grew on me for some reason.
- MiniCM6 / MiniCM7 etc
The CyanogenMod variations were rather nice, but again, certain elements (can't remember which, I've tried almost all of them) made me revert back to CyanoComb.
- FroyoComb
Same as with CyanoComb, it's decent and well sorted, though as always some issues might exist.
Basically, some ROMS have/had market-issues, some just have/had too much extras in them to my liking, some crashed on the messaging-apps, or were simply missing camerasupport etc etc. Finding a balance on this isn't always easy, and that is why I test out ROMS to find one that I enjoy working with (and using).
As usual, this is just a single users point of view, and I would actually advice you to take your time and just load your SD_card with a few, have the SEUS-software installed, and try finding your way through the jungle.

No.
Current 2.3.5 ROMs for Mini Pro are:
Cyanogen MiniCM7 Pro
GingerDX
SEUS is always my first and only method of fixing a bricked SE. It removes anytrace of there being any mods on there too which is handy if you need to send it back 0
flash the original software.

Rooting

Hi all
First i know there is loads of threads about rooting the galaxy ace on these forums but i am new to the rooting scene, so i would like somebody to point me to an easy guide that will do it. I also need to be able to unroot as well for warranty purposes.
My build number is XWKPY and gingerbread 2.3.3
Hope somebody can help as i need to remove the stock samsung bloat and possibly flash a new rom, which one would be the best as i need everything to work and must be the original google gingerbread experience.
Thanks Guys, hope to hear about this soon.

check out Android Development section man !
I read that but my firmware is not listed, thats why i am asking for help about this.
The Kiess software i have says i have the latest firmware.
Would that method still work with the firmware i have???.
This method works for 2.3.3 / 2.3.4 / 2.3.5. Here you go:
1. Download "upd_1.zip" (Attached).
2. Put it in your SDcard.
3. Switch off your phone
4. Reboot into Recovery mode by pressing HOME + POWER buttons at the same time (release power button while still holding home button till the white colored Samsung logo shows up).
5. Using volume buttons navigate to "install update from sdcard" or "apply update from sdcard" (I can't really remember what it is called).
6. Press Home button when you navigate over it to select it.
7. Select the file "upd_1.zip" by pressing Home button over it.
8. Reboot your phone in normal mode.
To check that you sucessfully installed, just goto your AppDrawer and look for an app called "Superuser". If it is there, you have sucessfully flashed, if not try repeating above steps.
To unroot; just download "unroot.zip" (Attached) and follow the above steps, instead selecting "upd_1.zip" select "unroot.zip" to unroot your phone!
Thanks, I have rooted and got rid of some of the samsung bloat and then un rooted.
It worked fine, thank you

[Q] Blank Screen After Flashing Custom ROM

I have been visiting this site ever since I first read about X10 & was fascinated by it (I have always loved SE phones). Anyway, I have since gotten an X10i (AT&T) & have de-branded it as well as unlocking & rooting it. Here goes:
I installed Champs' Rom (x10sV9-addon) but didn't want all the clutter he had pre-installed. To make a long story short, I went back to Wolf's ROM via Xrecovery but something went wrong. I can no longer boot into Xrecovery & after SonyEricsson logo, screen goes blank, not black/blue just blank. The other problem is, since I can't see the screen, I can't turn on the USB connection so my PC/Flashtool/SEUS can recognize my device so I can fix it. This happened while trying to re-install Wolf's ROM & installing the following zip files via Xrecovery: Bravia_Xloud engine, Xperia S Player, Champ + Bar, x10_gb_stock_wifi_modules. Then I rebooted & I get the blank screen. I know it is on because I can turn the volume all the way down to vibrate. The "home" button still lights up. PLEASE, I need someone's help with this one as I am no expert, just a moderate tinkerer. ANY help/incite would be appreciated. Sorry, I can't even give you any screenshots. Can anyone out there help me out? Thanx in advance.

RE: Blank Screen After Flashing Custom ROM
Thanx for getting back to me so fast. As I said, the screen is blank. That is, the backlit display works but I can see nothing else. The "Home" button lights up when i press it but the display does nothing. If/When I reboot to try to enter XRecovery, I see the SonyEricsson logo followed by the backlit screen & nothing else. The Volume up/down buttons work as I am able to silence the phone by turning volume all the way down to vibrate. Because I cannot see what's on the display, I cannot turn USB on/off to connect to PC to run SEUS/Flashtool, etc. I.E. I cannot fix the device. Usually I just boot into XRecovery to fix a problem like this but that doesn't work.
x10
hy, install sony update service and repair your phone, then install again custom rom, the indications how to repair your phone software is in the program.

I wish I had gotten this solution sooner. Not sure if it would have mattered. When trying to use Flashtool I kept getting an error saying my phone was not in "flash mode".
I solved my problem by flashing using Omnius & flashing firmware 'X10i_generic_SE_24_MultiTouch.rar'. This got my phone back but it was only 2.1 so I used 'DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su' to get me back to 2.3, but this is where I'm at. I had Wolf's firmware before but right now I have no xRecovery installed. I thought I had rooted my phone but xRecovery isn't installed nor is Busybox.. Any ideas? Thanx in advance...EVERYONE @ XDA-DEVELOPERS rox!

C if u can repair phone using SEUS now. Open the software without connecting phone. N then go to the update part. It should give u a repair option. Then follow those steps. Or else just connect ur phone n then start software. When it tells u ur phone is up to date click on that n then click on "repair". Then use the latest flashtool to root. Recoveries come with kernels so just flash a custom kernel.

Ur welcome i don't think u need help you just flashed a custom ROM.. the procedure for installing ICS is the same. Although it'd be better if you are on stock before installing it.. just look for an ICS ROM that u like (I'm using feralab n it works like a charm).
Get the kernel n ROM.. as usual, put the ROM zip on ur SD card, flash the kernel, install ROM from recovery
Although before installing:
1. In recovery go to mounts n storage
2. Format system data n cache
3. Mount system, data n cache (note that if the mounting is successful the options should change to unmount system, unmount data, unmount cache respectively)
4. Then install ROM
5. The installer is GUI based so it'll guide u really well through the installation
