TUTORIAL
DON'T TRY THIS WITH 2.1.1.A.0.6
NOTES
After a little testing i feel that is time for a tutorial
-first of all, this has been tested on e10a 2.1 firmware, didn't try it out on 1.6
-after testing it seems that the files needed for e10a 3g radio ARE NOT on the kernel.sin so no need for flashing it, with the ones in this new pack
http://www.4shared.com/file/ZNLOVH3u/newFilesForFlash.html
is enough, or just remove the kernel.sin from the other post one if you don't want to flash it
-this is a fix for the loss of 3g radio after flashing a e10i UPDATE, if you are flashing a custom rom with only de files from system you shouldn't really
lose 3g radio, but if you do loss it you can use this to fix it
-another thing to note is that getting your 3g radio working doesn't mean you'll get your connection working right away, you still have to set the
APN of your network provider to get internet conection (in my case it's claro slv : internet.claro.sv ) you can look it up on google or on your network
provider page it should show
-this is just guessing, but it could also work backwards with people with e10i that have flashed e10a firmware update, (of course they would have to
decrypt the files from an e10i update) but i dont have an e10i so there is no way for me for testing that
-ONCE AGAIN USE AT YOUR OWN RISK, DON'T REALLY KNOW IF THIS COULD BRICK YOUR PHONE, BUT FROM ALL THE POST I READ IN MY LIFE EVEN
CHANGING WALLPAPERS COULD DO IT, ALSO IF YOUR PHONE DOES BRICK YOU CAN TRY FLASHING A KNOWN WORKING FIRMWARE WITH FLASH TOOLS,
IT HAS SAVED MY ASS A COUPLE OF TIMES DOING OTHER MODS
so... to the tutorial
-download either of the filesForFlash or newFilesForFlash files
-unzip them in a folder (i.e.: fixe10a)and place that folder on the root of the Bin4ry's FlashToolRelease (search forum, link soon)
-run x10flash.bat
-press the "flash" button
-select your folder (in the example it was fixe10a) and press "ok"
-turn off your phone and wait around 30 seconds
-press the <- key on your phone and connect the usb cable (just like a normal update)
-you should see "start flashing..." and then the files that will be flashing ( the other files that the flash tool usually flashes that are not on the
packs will be skipped)
-when you see the line that says "Flashing finished" disconnect the phone and turn it on
-the setup wizard should show up and you should have a working 3g radio for e10a
-also no need to flash e10a system, with this fix you should get the radio working on a e10i system
PS: There is an update.zip file with the latest .24 firmware rooted and with xrecovery, i uploaded it because at first i thought it was necesary for
bringing 3g radio back, but anyways feel free to flash it with xrecovery if you want the latest firmware rooted and of course the firmware is e10a
the files and Happy new year ^^
ok here are the files
http://www.4shared.com/file/BiCGGgAH/filesForFlash.html
this are the files for using with bin4ry's flashtool (check tutorials)
and
http://www.4shared.com/file/o99ggYZA/update.html
the "custom" rom, in short to flash this copy the update.zip to the sd card root use in xrecovery the full wipe option, then the install from update.zip option
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK
Happy new year ^^
Thanks a lot. It works on my E10a.
Thanks men! flash with xrecovery! is easy and fast...!
i just flashed my e10a that was previously flashed with the e10i FW using the xrecovery. I only used the filesforflash (not the update.zip) and now the 3G works better (get H where before i was just getting E) however in the device info i still get it's an e10i.......
the reason is that the files for flash just fix the compatibility issue with 3g radio that e10i firmware had with e10a phones, so it doesn't flash the system, just a few components that make the 3g radio work, also previously it only showed e because it was only connecting through edge ( really slow connection) with the fix you can use the 3g network (wich is much faster ) you can set those in the mobile networks-> net mode setting just wcdma (faster but drains battery fast), just gsm (slower but the battery will last longer) and gsm/wcdma preffered ( wich chooses if able wcdma networks if not it chooses gsm, i really don't recommend this one because it uses the same battery that just wcdma mode, but sometimes gets edge speed)
it shouldn't be a problem for you to have the e10i firmware unless you want to update from seus or the companion, but if you do want to see your device as e10a there are two ways
-the easy one is to change your build.prop file with an e10a of the same firmware
(i.e. if you have 2.0.A.0.504 firmware you should use an e10a build.prop from that firmware) you can do this with root explorer from the phone side, just replace it and restart the phone
-the other one is to flash a e10a rom or system.sin with xrecovery or bin4ry's flasher, it's not that complicated, but the hard part is finding the e10a rom since most posted ones are for e10i
PS: and remember if you made changes to your actual build.prop( like enabling JIT for example) you should do the same changes to the new build.prop
before replacing it or before restarting the phone
anyways hope this helps
Thanx mate.
I think that i'll stuck with this FW; at the end i think that the only difference is that just in the device info appears the different model......doesn't bother me. Also because i got very often looping problems when changing the built.prop file and finding e10a FW is not so easy.........as said i'm ok now and i think that i'll not make any updates unless major changes. Actually didn't see any real upgrades in last release that justify problems and loss of root.........and having back all crapware......
cheers
I flashed... bur i cant create apn... when i select "save", nothing happens. Any idea?
haven't seen a save option, maybe you are in a wrong config, the one you are looking for is
wireless & networks->mobile networks->access point names there you press the menu button and select new apn, there you input the required fields for your company's apn then press the back button, and your apn name should be there for choosing, hope this solves your problem
p.s. also maybe could be a rom problem, i once flashed a supposed .45 rom and it didn't have the data traffic enable/disable option so i went back to .24
Sent from my E10a using XDA App
can it work with g1 dream? HELP
@lovo maestro
If it's a rom made from a g1 dream for x10 mini it should work well, but for the actual htc g1 dream i couldn't affirm it does as i have only tested it with x10 mini and this files are from sony ericsson's update, i would recommend that you search a solution from the htc dream forum here at xda-developers first because it would be a lot more compatible for your device.
but if you have searched for it on the dream forum and you haven't found an answer you could try this, but i guess it might fail mainly because of compatibility, also i don't have a dream myself so i can't test it, and this method requires bin4ry's flash tools for xperia wich i don't know if it will work for htc, so i would really think about it twice or more like 20 times before trying this on an htc device.
Hey !
This works wonderful on my .504 stock rom. Now, i want to upgrade to .6 (and then Froyo) and just wanna know if this could help to enable E10a 3g on a E10i .6 generic rom posted here recently.
Thanks in advance !
EDIT: If i can get an update .zip from a just-flashed .6 U20a can you do one 3G solution for the E10a with E10i FW ?
Sent from my E10a with E10i FW using the XDA App.
i've been having problems with this update because it prompts me to enter a unlock code for sim with e10i and e10a .6 so i haven't updated yet, so i can't say i have tested it, DON'T use u20a files on e10a, as u20a is for mini pro, and you will likely get a boot loop or brick.
On the bright side there is already an e10a update from brazil (the one giving me problems) to .6 so there will be likely a generic soon, so you can update directly to that once it is out and then to the froyo cm, or if you already updated to e10i .6 once the generic e10a is out you can upload it here and i will gladly decryp the files needed to get 3g back, i could upload the .6 e10a that i have, but i think that most likely will give the same problem for anyone that's not from that region, of course i could be wrong, so if any dev knows the truth behind this problem i would really like some help
i think maybe it is a new security measure from sony, or maybe i just have bad luck but it sucks as i have mine locked with my carrier and i can't use it with my carrier chip on .6
.-.
Ok, i just have complete a backup with xrecovery. i'll flash the .6 nordic generic AND i'll apply your "patch" (i dunno how to call it, maybe miracle hahaha).
When i'm finish, i'll post my experience
Regards.
EDIT: It bricks my phone when i flashed over the .6 E10i generic, it just show the first SE logo and then reboots and again and again and again... i can't even turn it off :c
I just do not what to do to bring it to life again. I totally forgot to install xrecovery again after the first flash D: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i'm dying ._.

my phone is still alive and well... hoping to get cm going... hope that generic .6 rom comes out soon... thanks for making sure e10a gets its chance to shine too!
@learning_to
that happened to me too at one time, but dont worry there is a method here in the mini wiki for the reboot problem that i used, and sorry for the late response, but i have been a little busy
put SEUS ready to repair(this is what the wiki says, but i recomend using flashtools with previous .504 or .24 firmware to flash)
connect the cable to phone and PC
press both middle and right button at the same time
press the power button
when phone goes down, keep pressing only the right button
also you could let the battery drain, but this is much faster and i don't know if letting the battery drain could do damage to the phone
Got alpha 3 gong on my e10a! thanks to daemon-rj from the main minicm thread... here's the link to the build.prop file needed in order to get seus to update to .6 on e10a:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961707&page=70
Well well... i can't get out the eternal loop; I can get the flash mode when i plug it to the pc, BUT SEUS and SEPCC says: "No updates for your phone" !!!!!!!, even with SEPCC's repair option
I can't use the flashtool, 'cause my phone don't boot android, so flashtool doesn't recognice((?) sorry my english xd) the phone, and the "flash" option remains gray (or unselectable(?))
I tried flashtool on XP, now, i will try with 7, and then i'll post my experience.
Any sugestion ?
Thanks in advance !
(thanks @watchyourbreath and @kurotany for your replies and worries hahaha :] )
@learning_to
ok, calm down, maybe just copy and paste the wiki wasn't a good idea, here's what you got to do
-open the flashtools on your pc
-if the flash button is grey, mmm haven't happened to me, but you could try downloading flashtools again and trying to put it on another folder, also remember to place de flashing files in the correct place
-conect the phone to the pc
-press the flash button (asuming is working, either way getting flashtools to work is the main way to get your phone back operational)and select the firmware you are going to flash
-on the phone press both the middle and the right button at the same time, and while you are pressing those press the power button till the phone shuts down
-once it shuts down release all buttons but the right one, you should get the normal green light of update on your phone and flashtools recognizing it
hope this helps and @watchyourbreath thanks man, im going to try it out
Hi guys,
Quick question re the new xRecovery for X10 HD phones?
When you hold down the power button on the FeeX10 beta3 ROM you get the option to reboot and then the option to reboot or go into recovery; has anybody tested to see if this fix launches the recovery mode i.e. you go into the xRecovery console on reboot without having to press anything?
I ask as I'm using an X10i (or HD, whichever) and I can't access xRecovery now I'm running FreeX10's ROM, so in light of the new hotfix I'd like to know if this works before taking the time to reflash my phone and start from scratch with 2.2
Many thanks in advance, and kudos as always to the fab work by the developers.
you must use the oldfashion way.. tapping the back button several times.
Thanks, but it doesn't really answer the question though, does it? Reflashing my phone and starting from scratch to use this new xRecovery HD will take some time, which I am reluctant to give up if I end up having to press back when booting to enter xRecovery when it's supposed to do it for you?
In another thread the developer talks about Recovery mode not working, I just wondered if this had been fixed now ther devs were aware of the issue with X10 HD, and asked it here on the Q&A as I can't yet put the question to the developer on the relevant thread.

doens`t work. the boot into xRecovery i mean...
i don`t even know why this is in reboot opitions at this point. definnatly will be usefull but not at this point.
to ashure you have xrevovery installed you have to press several times on back button or menu one or even power...home too (god damn...all of them work LOL)
It's a pity that doesn't work, as I since I installed 2.2 via FreeX10 I haven't been able to access the xRecovery console.
Re this, should I still be able to access xRecovery now I've moved to the Custom ROM?
Thanks for your more helpful response
I was updating to FreeX10 2.2 Beta 4 .. Flashed the new FW .435 from stock RoM thread.
Well, here is my predicament. I can't get any further then the Sony Ericson logo. I have tried entering xRecovery to no success.
I was running Blue Sparks custom RoM before I attempted this.
Before Blue Sparks I was running Z's first beta of 2.2 and had no problems with installing and using it, I just reverted back to 2.1 because of the amount of bugs "no offense it was just Beta 1 ".
I am just trying to get my phone back up and running and am having an extreme problem of not being able to access anything to do so.
SEUS will not detect the phone under flash mode. Flash Tool will not connect. I have taken SIM Card and SD Card out, left the battery out now for over an hour and still nothing.
Any information on what to do would be greatly appreciated.
PS, I know this is completely in the wrong thread but seeing as how I never posted anythign before or ever had any problems my post count is not high enough to respond to anything under the Development Tab .. I just read everything you devs post and follow instructions.
Xperia X10a
Blue Sparks
Mod: xKrisx
had the same problem, some themes are not ready for the newest fw
check for updates on the threads or install a fw using any flash tool
The problem is not the custom rom. Blue Sparks ran on 2.0.2.A.0.24. To update to the current Beta 4 of FreeX10 2.2 I needed to upgrade my build to the current one, .435.
So with updating, I flashed X10a_2_1_A_0_435_GLOBAL and updated the Base Band by flashing the amss file for it.
After completing the above two steps, I was no longer running Blue Sparks. It was a generic version of .435.
Now is were my problems began. I placed both zip files on my SD Card " Beta4 and gapps" and flashed both through xrecovery.
My phone rebooted and now it gets hung on the Sony Ericson logo during boot up and will not go anyfurther. I cannot access Xrecovery / I cannot enter Flash Mode. I am losted and have no idea of what to do to restore my phone.
Happend to me to because i flashed beta 4 and then gapps right after. I found that flashing beta 4 only then reboot phone let it boot then flash gapps after i got phone working. Thats what i did to get it working
EDIT: when se logo comes just rapidly press the back button until xrecovery pops up tryid one time where i was clicking for more than 30 sec before it came up
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
@****nab
Thats my problem though, I cannot get into Xrecovery.. It stays hung at Sony Ericson logo period. It has sat there for the better part of an hour to no avail. I tried to connect back to SEUS and just retore back to default but I cannot get the phone into Flash mode either.
I took the phone back to At&t and I think my 5 year old son has more knowledge then they do, it was ****in pointless..
Step one:
turn phone on
step two:
Screen never illuminates
step three :
you can see a monochrome outline of the Sony Ericson logo
step four :
Screen illuminates and Sony Ericson logo is clear visable.
step five :
there isn't one cause it never goes any further then this.
________________________
when trying to enter flash mode
Step one ..
hold down back button
step two .
insert usb cord
step three
wait for green light to stay on.
step four .
Green light flashes three times and phone turns back off..

Can someone just tell me that I have royaly ****ed my phone up so I can just go throw it in the toilet and clame insurance on it ?
Leave USB cale plugged both ends, remove battery, while holding back button reinsert battery. Should now be in flash mode.
try flashing from older flash tool where a connect button appears.
click connect..insert d cable with back key pressed and click on ok..
or
try getting in flash mode using seus..
if both doesnt work there must be problem with back button i guess..
(remember to install gordongate driver from flashtool/driver)..
and if u succeed in getting in flash mode then upadate d whole firmware to .435..not just d baseband..
then format system, cache, data thru xrecovery and install b4.
all d best.
have the same exact issue, but mine was due to using format/system option in xrecovery i press on it by mistake thinking it was the option above it..... i am lost with a beatiful xperia x10 not working past sony ericsson logo like you..........anyone to our rescue????? ill sure buy them a beer!

Hi everybody,
I had the CM7 v15 Android 2.3.3 on my X10 Mini Pro but i wanted the 2.3.4 and i installed the CM7 2.0.4 for X10 Mini not X10 Mini Pro and i bugged all my cell phone.
I cant use TouchScreen, I Cant Reboot, i just can ShutDown and When i Turn This On Again i can load xRecovery what can i do to unbrick???
The best option was a Hard Reset but i tryed i shutdowned the X10 Mini Pro and i pressed "Back Button + Turn On Button (to reboot the cellphone or to turn on)" and nothing happens just loads the CM7.
If i need to use FlashTool please gime the link of the Downloads for the right FlashTool and the Drivers for my X10 Mini Pro from Portugal European, and the tutorial link please, and teach me how to turn on the cell phone via usb to the PC because no Devices are detected coz i cant use touch screen to activate this it just charges the phone.
Just Help Me guys i just have the phone for one day o-o!
If someone portuguese can help me please send me your e-mail via PM!!!
I found the answer for my problem. Ill make something like a tutorial now:
To unbrick:
-Download the Update Service.
-Acept the Agreements (sorry bad english i think i failed but u know)
-Choose Your Phone (in my case and probably in ur X10 Mini Pro)
-Now, Turn Off you Cell Phone.
-Put your battery Off
-Plug the usb cable in your cell phone
-Now Plug the USB in Your PC
-Now press the back button (in the programs he says volume down but its back button)
-And with the button pressed put the battery in again.
-When the program says to stop press the button u need to stop.
-Now let the program do his job.
Sorry for bad english and this is all.
Tips for xRecovery and Root X10 Mini Pro:
-You need to use a specific RootExplorer (i uploaded it for you: mediafire(dot)com(bar)?87zjj86mj6td603)
-In this specific RootExplorer to move the 3 xRecovery Files u need to Mount C/W or CW and now you are able to move this.
This is were my fails so now are my tips.
Hope Helped You and Enjoy this, Sorry For bad English

Whats the best ROM At the moment? Im with CM7 v15 Android 2.3.3 is it the best??
It cannot be bricked... it can only.. transform.
If something goes wrong for me, i use Flashtool. I downloaded the original SE rom, and it can flash + root + xrecovery + clean in a couple of minutes.
very VERY easy to use
the topic name made me worried before I entered
SE update services is the first things I installed after bought the X10 mini pro,and in the first time I tried to install the new rom I have to use SEUS to recover the phone

"Best" is in the eye of the user (as usual) but my personal experience (which is just from a mere 1 months time of tampering with the phone) seems to be leaning towards CyanoComb 1.4 and the new 2.3.x ROMs that are still under development.
So far I've had some issues with the newer ones, although most of the ROMs that D4rkn3sSyS (sp?) has been working on seems stable.
The list of ROMs I've tried and comments about them :
- CyanoComb v1.4
Stable, well suited for more "active" use, has so far not been a major issue in generic use, some "Force Closed" applications has occured but that is most probably due to my own stupidity (not cleaning caches etc). Seems to be "the better choice" for me.
- FroyoBread
Still heavily under development, nice to work with, but due to the amount of hotfixes and (imho) messy development feedbacks from the ROM developer(s), it's starting to annoy me as such (the radio-application and camera were a bit shaky untill I managed to pull the correct package-files hidden well inside the threads for it). Also gave me some headaches when flashing (again, might be due to my "newbieness").
- Andread
Tried it for a brief moment, I really didn't want an SE-style phone again, so... Your mileage may vary if you like having it SE-styled.
- SonyBread
Seemed nice, but as with Andread, it kind of grew on me for some reason.
- MiniCM6 / MiniCM7 etc
The CyanogenMod variations were rather nice, but again, certain elements (can't remember which, I've tried almost all of them) made me revert back to CyanoComb.
- FroyoComb
Same as with CyanoComb, it's decent and well sorted, though as always some issues might exist.
Basically, some ROMS have/had market-issues, some just have/had too much extras in them to my liking, some crashed on the messaging-apps, or were simply missing camerasupport etc etc. Finding a balance on this isn't always easy, and that is why I test out ROMS to find one that I enjoy working with (and using).
As usual, this is just a single users point of view, and I would actually advice you to take your time and just load your SD_card with a few, have the SEUS-software installed, and try finding your way through the jungle.

SEUS is always my first and only method of fixing a bricked SE. It removes anytrace of there being any mods on there too which is handy if you need to send it back 0
flash the original software.
I have been visiting this site ever since I first read about X10 & was fascinated by it (I have always loved SE phones). Anyway, I have since gotten an X10i (AT&T) & have de-branded it as well as unlocking & rooting it. Here goes:
I installed Champs' Rom (x10sV9-addon) but didn't want all the clutter he had pre-installed. To make a long story short, I went back to Wolf's ROM via Xrecovery but something went wrong. I can no longer boot into Xrecovery & after SonyEricsson logo, screen goes blank, not black/blue just blank. The other problem is, since I can't see the screen, I can't turn on the USB connection so my PC/Flashtool/SEUS can recognize my device so I can fix it. This happened while trying to re-install Wolf's ROM & installing the following zip files via Xrecovery: Bravia_Xloud engine, Xperia S Player, Champ + Bar, x10_gb_stock_wifi_modules. Then I rebooted & I get the blank screen. I know it is on because I can turn the volume all the way down to vibrate. The "home" button still lights up. PLEASE, I need someone's help with this one as I am no expert, just a moderate tinkerer. ANY help/incite would be appreciated. Sorry, I can't even give you any screenshots. Can anyone out there help me out? Thanx in advance.

RE: Blank Screen After Flashing Custom ROM
Thanx for getting back to me so fast. As I said, the screen is blank. That is, the backlit display works but I can see nothing else. The "Home" button lights up when i press it but the display does nothing. If/When I reboot to try to enter XRecovery, I see the SonyEricsson logo followed by the backlit screen & nothing else. The Volume up/down buttons work as I am able to silence the phone by turning volume all the way down to vibrate. Because I cannot see what's on the display, I cannot turn USB on/off to connect to PC to run SEUS/Flashtool, etc. I.E. I cannot fix the device. Usually I just boot into XRecovery to fix a problem like this but that doesn't work.

hy, install sony update service and repair your phone, then install again custom rom, the indications how to repair your phone software is in the program.
Best regards
Does USB need to be On or Off on the device for Update Service to run?

I wish I had gotten this solution sooner. Not sure if it would have mattered. When trying to use Flashtool I kept getting an error saying my phone was not in "flash mode".
I solved my problem by flashing using Omnius & flashing firmware 'X10i_generic_SE_24_MultiTouch.rar'. This got my phone back but it was only 2.1 so I used 'DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su' to get me back to 2.3, but this is where I'm at. I had Wolf's firmware before but right now I have no xRecovery installed. I thought I had rooted my phone but xRecovery isn't installed nor is Busybox.. Any ideas? Thanx in advance...EVERYONE @ XDA-DEVELOPERS rox!
I haven't replied to this post because I'm at my wit's end. I still can't get XRecovery installed & I think I've tried all the methods out there. Maybe my problem is that I restored my phone using Omnius. Flashtool works OK but I can't do anything but Flash on it. My phone is a headache now. It freezes up, crashes & sometimes won't read the SD card. Please help...

C if u can repair phone using SEUS now. Open the software without connecting phone. N then go to the update part. It should give u a repair option. Then follow those steps. Or else just connect ur phone n then start software. When it tells u ur phone is up to date click on that n then click on "repair". Then use the latest flashtool to root. Recoveries come with kernels so just flash a custom kernel.

Many Thanks, I was finally able to use SEUS; before I could not. I used Flashtool to upgrade/downgrade kernel. However, I still don't have XRecovery installed & I'm not sure how to do this. I can't install XRecovery using Flashtool. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would really like to install a custom Rom again.
I don't think u need to upgrade or downgrade.. just look for a link to download xrecovery here and follow instructions

I'm not sure how it went down but prior to this, I was unable to use SEUS. No matter what I did, I couldn't repair it. However, since your post, I was able to use SEUS & Flashtool to get back to where I was before I screwed up my X10a. I'm currently running Wolf's Rom (many thanx!!!) & am very satisfied w/all your help homey! You da man!
I noticed you are running ICS on your X10i. Any help so that I may partake of that deliciousness?

Ur welcome i don't think u need help you just flashed a custom ROM.. the procedure for installing ICS is the same. Although it'd be better if you are on stock before installing it.. just look for an ICS ROM that u like (I'm using feralab n it works like a charm).
Get the kernel n ROM.. as usual, put the ROM zip on ur SD card, flash the kernel, install ROM from recovery
Although before installing:
1. In recovery go to mounts n storage
2. Format system data n cache
3. Mount system, data n cache (note that if the mounting is successful the options should change to unmount system, unmount data, unmount cache respectively)
4. Then install ROM
5. The installer is GUI based so it'll guide u really well through the installation
