Help with something - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to know if there something i can do to my phone : to keep tmobile from tracking down my IMEI number and seeing if my SIM card has ever been in my phone. This has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with any kind of fraud or anything against the law (just letting you guys know before the thread gets locked).. Is there any kind of mod at all? To keep them from tracking my IMEI number?

theory1: ur trying to keep away tmobile from tracking your imei number so they can't suspend your phone.
YES they can suspened your phone making it useless ( whatever sim card u put in, its not gonna work) I confirmed it with tmobile and they usually use this method when new customer just stop paying their bill and just take the phone.

Yea they black list the imei from their system, but u can use say a att dim card and it will work

No i dont want them to track it down because about 4 months ago i did a warranty exchange on my phone.. But then i fixed it before i got it.. So i called tmobile back and asked them if i could cancel the shipping.. And they told me i could because the phones were on backorder... Well about a week later, i got the phone in the mail (even tho i wasnt suppose to)... And then eventually forgot about the phone. Well about 2 months after i recieved the new phone i realized i had it again and sent it back. ( but ended up sending back my older one instead)... Well tmobile is telling me that there was no history at all of me calling them and cancelling the shipment. Or no history in UPS that i even shipped it back. But i told them that i never recieved the phone tho... So i have been billed $475 on to my cellphone bill for a mistake they started by sending to me when i canceled it, and then not having a history of me calling. So now they are going to track down my IMEI number to see if my sim has been in it, On the phone i have now.... So im pretty much needing help to prevent them from doing that, because i have been charged with all this money, that was their mistake inthe first place... They said its un-creditable unless my sim was never in it... Is this anywhere near even possible at all to do?

Hmmm...thats odd...when my Vibrant went "DEAD" I called them and they sent out a replacement..I got mine working again the next morning and called them back to cancel the replacement and I was told that they "do not and can not cancel an order after one hour of the order being placed." And when you go through the replacement steps with CS, they tell you up front that if you dont sent back the old phone you will get billed a $475 "restocking" fee and you have 7 days to return the phone.
I sent back my replacement back and kept my old one..

They was only able to cancel it bc all the vibrant were on backorder and not in stock. It took them 9 days for it to become in stock again. So ya i was able to cancel it... And no it shouldnt of mattered if i forgot about sending it back or not bc they shouldnt of sent it in the first place. Bc i canceled it... ****ing pieces of ****

Its your responsibility when you received it to know something was up, you should have called after realizing this.

i'm not aware of a mod that does this. and it doesnt seem like anyone is willing to assist. even if ur reasons are true and fair it seems like something that others might/will use for unlawful purposes if available. sorry

Someone stole my Vibrant

It's not insured and I bought it second hand on craigslist. What are my options?
Well i think you could get asurion on your plan. If you don't have it. They might replace it. When i got my cliq dt stolen they were gonna replace it for 50 and it was from craigslist so it might work.

Unless they have changed the policy, when you try to add insurance onto an existing device they will require you to either
A: Receive/Place a phone call to verify you have the phone.
B: Take the Phone to an authorized T-Mobile store for inspection to make sure it is in full working order.
C: All of the above.

Well, another Vibant is out of my budget. I guess I'll have to find someone that wants to upgrade their plan and pay them for their extra one.
T-Mobile isn't going to care enough to give me the info on the person using the phone now.

Do yourself a huge favor.....
Install the app "Estrong Security Manager" on the phone. You can render it useless (well basically, untill they re-install another ROM) but if they flip the simcard out or if you send a secret SMS to the device - it locks it......
Try it out - it's free.
I know it's too late now since your phone is gone - but for the future...

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind for my next phone.
Maybe I can even push the app into system files so it'll even survive a wipe. I was just careless, guess you gotta learn. I won't run into a deal like the one I got for my old phone again, kid was a hardcore junkie and needed money so we traded my G1 + 80 dollars for the Vibrant originally.
Guess I better change my gmail password and facebook password, fml.
This is probably karma for ripping off a drugie, lol.

Couldn't order cause upgrade was an override

I couldn't order my 3d today cause my 2year upgrade was a note on the account not the actual status of my upgrade. And since you can only order online, I have to wait.
Has anyone else been able to get someone from Telesales to process the order or a 3D?
Pretty much what I was told, said they can't do it till Friday because they "don't have the phone "

Same here, I'm contacting sprint, cause the note on my account says I can get the override till June 30th, but I'm leaving Friday morning, and where I'm going is way out in the freggin boonies and I'll have Zero service, and I wont be back in till the 1st or 2nd depending.
Kinda frustrating.
I called at 9am, and spoke to a couple of their reps. It sounded like the outsourced desk, because I usually speak with someone from Midwest. I am going to try back at lunch to see if they switch. Maybe I'll be lucky

Ah lucky you. Just like everyone else here I asked for the override and they said they were unable to do it because I have to be purchasing the device at the time and it's not currently in their system. So I will wait until friday and pick up my pre-order from Sprint and get the override done then.

Call retention and tell them that they told you it was going to be reset within six hours and its been over 24 hours they will put you on hold and keep telling them him bad you wanted the 3d but your not satisfied with how they said they were going to do it and it doesn't show up on your account then he/she might put you on hold again and then do it for you and they will apologize for the inconvenience

I called and had them override my upgrade this morning....but it won't let me order online because I have a SERO account :-( (but it said I could call and order)
I tried stopping by the Spring store and they had no idea what I was talking about, lol!

Called about override 2 weeks back. According to the rep, it may take 24 hours for override to take effect. This morning, I had no problems ordering the phone.

Thanks for the info but I'll probably just wait since I'm not guaranteed it before Friday anyways. I usually don't have good luck with their customer service. I don't understand why they pick and choose. Either way they are getting a contract renewal so more money for them.

I ended up calling back and telling the person i couldnt order online.
They asked me how I found the link because a lot of customers were calling because they couldn't find where to order. Thankfully i had the link in another post here on XDA. I had to provide them with the link. They then kindly overrode my account and put in my full upgrade. I ordered it and now I am anxiously waiting for my phone to come in. I charged the phone to my account cause I plan on using Sprints BuyBack program and getting $150 for it to my account hopefully.

I was dropped to Premier Silver, and called-in (direct A/S #) to have my status reset. I was reset over the phone, and was able to verify by logging into Sprint. I've since been able to successfully order my EVO3D online, and an A/S rep verified the orders "at the Warehouse".
My question is: my Airrave is now eligible as well, how do I snag another EVO3D?

Took my phone in cause it wouldn't stop heating up and screen won't time out.... Hard reset everything works fine but after a few hours it started again so I took it to a cooperate store she said come back in a hour they are going to do a test and make sure our not battery related the and asked for my permission to factory rest it I have it to them pickled it up and notice no factory reset just a damn software update I was holding out from updating now I'm pissed the phone is still heating up man

I am on 3rd, 2nd phone on Monday 18th lastef two days that one after tech sayung my home was in hole in signial area. Owbing own business I am all over town, git 3rd after tech said 2nd was not gwtting signal. Why is this pgone so bugy? I have never had to keeo chaging phones to get one to work. This ones volume is better even thuo its hardware 002.
The one I got is perfect but I think I can notice the screen tilt but it doesn't bother me I have to do a pixel test

Maybe you guys can give me suggestions on getting mine replaced. I bought mine from a Sprint rep, not at his store. Evidently he bought it cheap by adding a line of service, then turned around and sold the phone to me. I've been having crappy 3G service, went through tech support over the phone w/no success, also took to a Sprint store and they ran diagnostics for a couple of hours, still same issues. They recommended taking the phone back where I purchased it to get a replacement (I do have TEP). Well, can't reach the guy I got the phone from. Shouldn't I be able to take to any Sprint store to get it replaced since I've only had the phone for a couple of weeks? I don't want to file a claim.
877 875 4886 call sprint retention let them know that you keep having to take the phone back due to the same problem and your really upset about it but you have been trying to bear with it but its not acceptable to spend all that money on a phone and its giving you trouble already. They will then set up an appointment at your nearest cooperate store and put a not on your account for them to swap out your phone

If the phone is less than 1 year at&t will replace it whether you have insurance or not.
its still under warranty until may 2012 but i bought off my uncle but i have the imei serial box etc.. could i still return ??

Go to an Att store and ask for another. They are usually really stupid and will just give you a new one. No problem.

If your shipping it to Motorola, they'll most likely figure out you were trying to modify your phone.
its the only people att said to ship i gave them exact error they said software corrupt issue and that they will fix it they told me to ship just phone no sim no battery nor cover..

OK so i went to AT&T the store manager told me to call the number he provided me with. So i called it with my telephone "land line" i waited approx 30 minutes talked to a white male who worked for AT&t Who then told me i had called wrong number, which i then proceeded to call Motorola's number and waited an hour to speak to a Indochinese brown person. He asked error i provided him error he said cool we can fix that issue, i said great he said give me yo address brotha i said ight and proceeded to give address he then said since were nice we will pay for overnight shipping to us and back to you. he sent label through email i printed out with my canon printer in black/white. tomorrow morning i will wake up and drop package off at FedEx. i will sit in major depression for 7 days awaiting my phone to be fixed and arrived back at my door.

Quick Question

I've got my old thunderbolt rooted running thundershed 1.6 CM7, my friend needs a phone to use for a few days until the new battery for her droid incredible 2 comes in. Am i able to just swap out the sim cards and activate her number on the phone without unrooting? I'd rather not have to go through all that hassle if its only going to be for a few days. Any help quickly would be appreciated
I don't know if activating on cm7 is possible but you can activate the phone while it is rooted. Maybe make a nandroid backup and switch to a stock sense rom to activate the phone and restore back afterwards. You will need the new sim and you will need to have them call Verizon to activate the sim. Do not dial *228 it can screw a thunderbolt up big time.

Thanks for the quick response I figured i probably couldn't on CM7 but wasn't sure since i've never had to do this before lol. Does her getting a sim cost any money or is it simply just going to verizon and asking for one? I ask because her current phone is an Incredible 2 with a verizon vodafone sim card in it right now.
No that kind of sim is different. That is a GSM sim. The thunderbolt needs an lte sim. You can order them over the phone through customer service which is what I do. Usually takes two days if you get them during the week. If you order on a Friday you'll get it on Monday. If you get one from the store make sure it is a corporate Verizon store or they will try to charge you for it. I say it is better to do it over the phone yourself because at the store the rep is going to want to handle your phone and if you don't want them to know it is rooted then I wouldn't suggest that unless you just don't care.

But really they don't care, hell they're either afraid to root or root themselves (speaking from lots of experience), but they don't like make a note of it and damn your warranty.
They also have no idea that you can unroot and make it look as though you never rooted.... boy.

Although all this is true it is still not worth the risk. They can note your account though and when you try getting a warranty replacement charge you hundreds of dollars for a replacement when they see you don't have one. I have heard of people that were charged after sending a phone in for warranty replacement and they noticed it was rooted.
