I kept getting the message "an error occurred while downloading....." i think and hope its a server issue. What i did was i copied the clockwork update.zip from my brother's vibrant and clicked reinstall packages in the stock recovery. was able to flash bionix v no problem.
I an having the same problem. Very frustrating. I am taking a break and calling it a development/server issue that will be fixed when I come back and try again.

I can't get ANYthing to install via clockwork, everything says can't open <insert file name>.zip, (bad), installation aborted. Uninstalled ROM Manager and reinstalled, etc... can't get anything to install. I apologize if this is a dumb question or if I'm overlooking something but any help would be appreciated, thanks.

How are you getting into clockwork? Try rom manager of you're not. Also try downloading the roms again
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
It is ROM Manager, as stated in the OP, and it's not ROMs I'm trying to install, it's various .zips like the new Swype, original i900 Boot Animations, etc...
Oh I see, what rom are you currently running?
As for the swype, try and use a file manager to open the .zip and manually install it.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Stock ROM, rooted and lag fixed. The swype isn't an APK.

In rom manager, did you click "flash clockworkmod recovery"? If not thats what you need to do, select the vibrant option and your phone will reboot into clockwork. Search the forums here there is a good walk through of clockwork installation and usage

It sounds like you're trying to flash from the stock recovery, not Clockwork. Make sure you click "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" in ROM Manager and possibly "Reinstall Packages" if it still takes you to the stock recovery.
It was definitely from clockwork, but I got it. Apparently by coincidence, all four separate files I had tried to install had been corrupted somehow. Re-downloaded through Skyfire, re-flashed and all is well.

Thanks for the help anyway guys. Even if it did imply I was clueless

Was not intending to make you sound clueless friend, have seen others miss that step, and you didn't list it so thought it might help. At any rate, glad you got it resolved.

I've been on MIUI 1.6.24.1 and it's been working great. I tried upgrading to 1.7.1 and every time i try to flash I get installation aborted. I've downloaded it multiple times and I'm using CWM 3.x red recovery. Has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions?
I think you have to use the yellow recovery. Not sure, though.

So how would I go about getting yellow on my phone? I can't seem to find a download.
You should already have it, open up terminal emulator and type su then type reboot recovery and that should get you to the yellow recovery.

I just tried that. It booted me into orange and when I tried to flash I got the same status 7 installation aborted.
Look at the first post in the cm7 waiting room thread in the general section, they talk about what to do to fix that.

OK will do. Thanks for your help.

You should flash Tenfar's new CWM as the old one isn't compatible with 2.3.4. The one in the Rom Manager is incomplete and not recommended for us yet.
You have the link or version number?

You have to put the update.zip on the root of your internal sd, which means NO folder.

I have a MoPho with unlocked bootloader running 2.3.4 and everytime I try to flash back to my saved stock backup from any custom rom I keep getting an "error while flashing boot image" I tried to do an advanced restore and picked the files one at a time but I keep getting the same result. Are you using a working recovery? Jokers? Twrp? Photon3? Or the ROM manager one? ROM manager version does not work.

as mentioned previously the ROM Manager one DOES NOT WORK. 5.0.2.8 DOES NOT WORK! you NEED to user Jokers, TWRP or the 5.0.2.7-photon3 recoveries ONLY. you can find the working recoveries on my site. choose which one suits you best! don't use Jokers V4 because it won't flash google apps properly.

I am running cm7, or rather was running cm7 coz now my phone is stuck in the boot loop limbo. Kept getting the error "com.android.phone stopped working" and I was unable to make or receive calls all day. So I thought relocking and unlocking the bootloader would do the trick but now I'm stuck on a rock and a hard place. Sssoooooo, do you have any tricks up your sleeves I could use, I would really appreciate it...
I've been able to run a hand full of fastboot commands to bring my phone back out of limbo, I am past the boot image and able to activate with the sprint network. Thank you all who took the liberty of viewing my post, I appreciate the help...

hmmm... CDMA user? or GSM? i remember that bug being around in the very early builds of CM7. are you on the latest nightly or stable release?
i might also recommend changing some build prop info (which could be causing this?) to make sure it tells the radio to operate in the correct mode. gsm or cdma. if you look for ro.telophony.default_network=? the ? should be a 4 for CDMA or a 7 for GSM. change to your liking. then reboot. this was an issue in CM9 for the longest time and this is how it was resolved. it's possible it could be the same for CM7.
another option is to of course start over. wipe the cache, data, system partitions, possibly even twice. flash cm7. twice to be safe. then gapps. twice to be safe. then give it another shot.
other than that it might be a bad download or a bad build. so try another if it doesn't work. hope this helps you!
CDMA user, for now I am able to have my phone back on, but I will probably steer away from CM7 AND perhaps try CM10. All I keep finding is an unofficial release, is this the only one there is?

there will never be any officials releases unless somehow Motorola decides they want to give us drivers/source for ICS or JB. which is never. unless we get a leak.
