Using FreeX10 2.2 Beta4, I experienced a problem where my short ringtone (stored on my SD card) only played once when I received an incoming call. It did not loop.
After doing some research, I think I have found a solution:
1: convert the ringtone to OGG format.
2: add a metadata field to the OGG file called ANDROID_LOOP with a value of 'true' (without quotes).
3: re-scan the SD card, and use OGG file as the ringtone.
OGG files with this metadata field will loop, in both the ringtone selection menu preview, and for incoming calls. (I have tested this several times, and with different files.)
I tried to set the same metadata in an MP3 file, but it did not work; it seems as though it will only work if the file is in OGG format.
Extend ringtone duration
Quick way is to
Go to dial pad
Click options soft key
go to Settings
go to Call forwarding
then Disable "Forward when busy" option. This was make the ringtone to ring for the default network time(should be sufficient) and then will go to voicemail.
Let me know if this works. It worked perfectly on mine

Hi all,
I've upgraded my O2 XDA II ROM to T-MOBILE 1.60.36 WWE.
In the control panel, I am able to see the "Add Ring Tone" applet, which copies midi files to the \windows\rings directory. However I am unable to see the list of MIDI in the "sounds & notifications" dialog for the Phone: Incoming call event
Only WAV and WMA files are listed. I am able to play the MIDI files from the "Add Ring Tone" applet, but they somehow don't appear in the list as a ringtone selection.
the extended ROM that I used has the file MIDI56.sa.CAB. I have tried to overwrite this with the original O2 Extended ROM midi plug-in (i.e. MIDI.sa.CAB). Both sounded a little different. MIDI56sa.CAB is softer, after overwriting it with the existing O2 one: MIDI.sa.CAB, it sounded louder. But still, I was unable to see the MIDI files in the list to select from.
I took a look around in the CAB files and saw that there is a file RTPlugIn.dll which is installed to \windows. Does anyone know how does the WM2003 Sounds&Notifications applet interface the RTPlugIn.dll to enable MIDI files to be selected?
Thanks
I just found out that, if I move the midi files from \windows\ringtones to \windows, it will appear, anybody knows why? Before the uprgade, it will list the midi files from \windows\ringtones.
Secondly is that if I were to play/preview the midi ringtone, it will play at maximum volume regardless of my ringer volume settings. This does not happen to WAV/WMA ringtones.
I just copied the MID files to the windows/rings folder.
Works fine.
BUT indeed the volume of the ringer does not not affect the volume to be played for MIDis . . .
I am not sure whether the MDAII uses the maximum volume, or just the volume setting from the MIDi file. I gues its the latter.
I will try to figure this out . . .
Where do I change the SMS tone in WM6, the "You've got message" from PDAViet is starting to annoy me
Thanks in advance
that is a good question
i would like to know that aswel my girlfriend is starting to lol everytime my phone goes off. if any one can help use please let me us know thanks
Go to Settings --> Sound & Notification --> Notification Tab --> Messaging: New text message

i want to know if there is anyway that you can put a mp3 as ringtone or a wav file or something plaese help thanks
i use ringo mobile for that. wav, mp3, aac, ogg, wma ... no problem for ringo making as ringtone or sms... i manage my ringtone groups with ringo. thats more comfortable =)
just copy any mp3,wma in the windows directory and then select it from settings>>sounds and notifications>>notifications, then choose event and assign a sound

If I am not mistaken, I think that only wav works for SMS. mp3 or wma works for incoming calls only
Here are mine if you are looking for some "inspirations"
well if you ever saw the movie eurotrip, you may enjoy this .wav/.mp3 file
enjoy lol
EDIT: I have a .wav for an alert tone, and .mp3 for my ringtone (not this mp3 but something else)...and everything is on my SD card (in the root directory, never tried hiding it in a folder)
EDIT SQUARED: I uploaded another .zip file, it has two mp3 ringtones that i use, my email notification noise, and two other .wav files (the old and new SNCF tone)
Hello all. I am using a Huawei U8500 with CyanogenMod 7 (2.3.5-Slax-SP10-3) and have been having an issue with ringtones/notification/UI/unlock (a.k.a. all) sounds. Before, none of the sounds (except Music) would work on CM7, but I figured that out. It was the sound profiles that were overriding all my other attempts at resetting volumes.
However, while my sounds were disabled, I used the Music app to set a song as a ringtone to see if the sounds would work again. Now that I have solved the issue with the volumes, every single one of the sounds (again, except music) are replaced with the song that I set as my ringtone. When I go to Settings>Sound and try and select a new sound, all the previews of the sounds are even of that song. I checked the .ogg files in /system/media/audio and they still play the correct sound.
Now for the questions:
-Has anyone encountered this issue or something similar?
-If not, how does Android handle setting a song as a ringtone?
-Does it put the .mp3 file somewhere on the root phone storage? (If so, I could just delete or rename it and hope for the best.)
-Or, does it simply reference the .mp3 file on the SD? (If so, I could rename it so that it wouldn't be able to fetch it.)
Thank you very much for any help!
Maybe I searched the wrong keywords...
I can't seem to set an Mp3 as my ringtone as I just recently flashed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205141
Any ideas?
EDIT: Turns out you have to put the mp3's you want into folder on your SD card named "ringtones" and it'll show up on the list. Alternatively download ringdroid
Thread title says it all
The ringtones which comes with ROMs working as they should. But when i set downloaded MP3 ringtone, it ring only once when phone have incoming call. Any one know how to fix these?
I found out a way. You just need to convert your (mp3 or whatever) tone to ogg and add this meta data to the file.
ANDROID_LOOP - TRUE
You can use this FREE program to convert your tone to ogg and add the required mete data
