Hey guys, I'm trying to update the VOID rom from Delta to Charlie and I'm using my PC now. I'm trying to toggle it to USB mode but it's not recognized on my PC. I usually do it at my friend's place and it recognizes it perfectly but on my PC it doesn't.
When I plug it in, it says "LG Android USB Device - Not recognized" or "No Driver Found"
How do I go about fixing this? I've already wiped the data and everything, just need to put the zip file in.
Been trying to get a hold of my friend but he's got class until tonight, and I kinda wanna not be depending on him if I need to do stuff with my phone, so I might as well try to get the drivers on my PC.
Any help would be great
Ok, so I just found the most random fix.
I took out the SD card, kept the cover off, booted into recovery, put the SDcard back in and mounted it, toggle USB and it worked.
So random but it worked!

I had the same problem, and the fix was to install the LG USB driver from the microSD card included with the phone.
Hello people, I have the same problem.
It works well but when I go into recovery and I toggle USB nothing happens.
Where can I find the drivers?
Which driver do I have to uninstall?

Download the LG Mobile Support tool first ... from there you can download the LG USB Drivers ... Once they are installed, your SD card will be detected in recovery ..
Nothing to uninstall ... PM if you need help
Could also just put the microSD in a card reader and put the ZIP on that way

Hi all
I have a problem with my hero not being recognized by my PC. This happened after a weekend trip and i charged the phone with iphone USB adapter as i lost my one and now after returning from my trip i connect my hero to my PC to be greeted with the "USB Device Not Recognized" message.
Also my Amon_Ra recovery i used has been wiped and i cant get into recovery or install any rom at all.
I am thinking this might be the same USB brick that affected some Desire owners but i am not sure.
So please if anyone can help me, please do.
Thanks in advance.

this happen to me. What i did was switch my phone off, plug in the usb and switched it back on. then wait for windows to say it not recognised. then go to to device and printers and uninstall the drivers for the phone. Disconnect and reconnect the usb back to the phone and it it will pick it up.
Can you try booting in fastboot and tell me if that is recognized?
it still doesnt recognize it in fastboot

Sounds like its just a driver issue. Have you tried plugging it in, when you get that message open DEVICE MANAGER,... Find the yellow "!", right click it, uninstall, unplug phone, reboot PC.
.... Then use BTDAG's [Guide] How to Setup Correct Hero Drivers (for x86 & x64 users)
I hav the same problem. In recover mode it works but then turn on the phone, there is no popup options as before. Tried around with drivers but didnt work either. But found a solution which is very convenient. I dont know if it works on other ROM versions but I'm on 2.1 (Villain10).
- Install extended control widget (dont remember where I got it but you can google, it seems I cannot find it on the market)
- Add this widget to the home screen: Menu/Add to Home/Widget/ Extended Control bar (you can choose the size from 1x1 to 1x4) then select "Mass storage" at the bottom, apply.
Now you have a widget to turn on/off USB storage. When you connect Hero to the PC, just click on this widget then the PC will connect to the SD card, and click one more to turn it off.
ok i will give that a try

No i havent and i gave up trying because i dnt think there is a fix for it. if yours is unrooted and the warranty is still valid you should consider returning it to HTC maybe they might replace it

Did you try that?..... You need to do the reboot PC/Laptop after uninstalling ALL HTC drivers! Then when you reboot PC, plug phone back in, should say "not recognised" again,... then follow BTDAG's guide. T'is definitely a driver issue!
tried flashing 3 roms, modaco, radug and now kimera... none working.
can connect in fastboot, it shows up in device manager as android 1.0
ive tried 3 different usb cables and 4 differet pcs, still there is no response on my phone !!!
using villian rom 10.0 rite now.
okay it boots up into fastboot and fastboot usb shows up on the screen in red,
BUT when i use the "adb devices" command in adb it doesnt show the device,
it is showing as android 1.0 in devices and printers (windows 7)
You need to use....
fastboot devices
....when your are in fastboot.
What happens when you go into your recovery, select "Toggle MS/USB" with USB connected to PC?
okay
fastboot devices command shows some serial number.
then i tried adb remount, it gave an error....
enabling usb-ms with cable attached gives no response
ok i think it might be USB driver like ddotpatel said but i am not sure.
i reinstalled my whole windows 7 to 32bit now instead of the 64bit version i was using before and today i just connected my hero to my PC and windows 7 did its thing and installed the drivers and finally my hero can mount the SD card in my PC again although i kept getting this can perform faster in USB 2.0 port or something like that i didn’t care as long as i can mount my SD card again.
now went into fastboot and used the fastboot device command and i could see my hero serial no. but when i try to flash the amonra recovery i got the permission error (i cant really remember). i tried flashing using the adb method but still no luck.
so i went to market and downloaded rom manager and used it to flash clockwork recovery and now i could boot to clockwork recovery.
from this recovery i can now flash any rom i want and although there are still a few more problems i am glad now that i can flash custom roms again.
the problem i can see so far but i can deal with is
1. i don’t think fastboot commands work even if the phone is detected.
2. SD card mounts at USB 1.1 speed. (i have tried different ports and cable but still the same thing and this is the ports i use for my N1, Desire and my other android phones with USB 2.0 speed)
PS: adb commands for pushing and removing apps is working.
Hope this can be helpful to those experiencing the same problem.
Instead of re-installing your entire OS just use usbdeview to remove the failing drivers.
Also remove any old HTC Sync installs and install the latest version.
For some reason, whenever I plug my X10a into my computer, I get "USB Device Not Recognized", and the phone doesn't charge and I can't mount SD Card or use ADB...
It still charges through the wall socket though.
Anyone know what the problem is?

Your computer or SD. Uninstall any SE drivers with USBDeview and reconnect which should install new drivers and hopefully sort it out.
Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work...I tried connecting to another computer too, and nothing happened. So my only option now is to get a new SD card?
Hi, I am experiencing the same thing and this happened after that I first rooted my phone using superoneclick and then replaced my fonts with arabic fonts.
I hope someone can find the root cause for this error.

I've had off and on problems in this area. Searched around and found this thread.
[GUIDE] ADB, Fastboot, and Nandroid for Noobs
This is what he suggests to solve problems with ADB and USB, (below is ALL the work of the Guide author):
"Im not getting a notification of Android ADB when i plug in my USB"
Why: Your computer has detected your phone but as a protable device and as a storage device.
Fix: This took me a lot of research and time to figure out so this is what your are going to do.
First download USBDeview - Here
Unzip it
Run USBDeview.exe as Administrator
You will see all drivers being used on your computer
Highlight and Uninstall all drivers with the description have HTC Android (Should be 3 of them)
Right Click on the driver and press uninstall
Once done, Unplug your phone and plug it back in
You should now get the notification of the ADB device
Plug in your phone through USB and DO NOT MOUNT IT!!!!!
Your computer should see a new device and try to install Android 1.0 driver (If it doesnt, scroll down to the "Im not getting a notification of Android ADB when i plug in my USB" section)
Let it load
Once it cant find them select "Install drivers from my pc"
The drivers you need are in the Android SDK 1.5r2 folder (C:\android-sdk-windows\usb_driver)
Depending on your OS pick x86 or amd64
You ADB Android Device should now be installed! Good Job

Had the same issue my friend. it's the USB socket within the phone that is gubbed. I spent days searching for a solution to no avail.
Why don't you install PC Companion? You can download it from SE. Once you've finished installation, connect your phone and let it detect your phone.
After that, you can uninstall PC Companion. The purpose is to let PC Companion installs all X10 drivers.
Hi guys,
Well it's not the socket because I can charge it normally with wall charger. Regarding the drivers, of course I have tried with PCcompanion and it didn't work.
Thanks...
well i think it can be the socket, becouse, wall charger only uses two wires of the five the socket has, so may be data+ or data- wire is broken. Have you tried with different usb cable?
As the mobile usb socket only has TWO solder points and it is very small socket and the position is not the best, may be some of the five lanes of the socket have unsoldered...and this is why it charges but it cant connect to computer.
It is only an idea..i hope the cause is some driver, mobile configuration (have you tried to reset your phone? ) or the USB cable.
after changing 3 cables I got it to work...
Thank you for your support.

USB Controllers
Usually if it works on another computer, but not your own, it is because your USB Controllers are messed up. In Device Manager go to Universal Serial Bus Controllers -> right click each one and say Uninstall(your USB mouse/other peripherals will stop working so be warned) -> restart your computer and let it install all the drivers again. Should be working now.
I'm on v2.3 and taking out the battery and SD card and re-inserting it solved the problem for me.

my phone will not be recognized by the computer no matter what i do. It recognizes my friends i777 just fine in odin and as a storage device so it isnt my drivers. With mine it only makes the connection sound and says device drivers failed to install. I am running shostock 3, philz kernel and windows 7. I have tried everything and i am out of ideas, please help. thanks
Install Kies fresh, install android sdk and update it, reboot, try different usb ports.
Also u have to disable usb debugging and let it install those drivers, enable it and let it install those drivers and boot into download mode and do a regular reboot and let it install those. Always worked for me after following those steps.
If he's friends phones works. Then I think it's the phone usb. My own phone has the same issues but my usb on phone is messed up. Says charging while its not chargin and that happens I get the whole Device not recognize and fail to install. Try cleaning your usb with 99% Isopropyl of the instructions above this post don't work out.

I downloaded the samsung drivers correctly because my pc recognizes any other samsung but no matter what i've tried it says usb device not recognized for my galaxy. Im stuck in a boot loop and the only thing i can access is download mode when i plug it in the computer. I can't access anything with the battery in, it just flashes the galaxy logo over and over. Thank you for you time in advance
Hi all,
I have a Rooted, WanamLite v6.3 ZSEMC1 ROM with AdamKernel 2.2.1+. i9300.
I updated recently from another previous version of the same ROM because I had noticed that my USB functionality has not been working. Specifically, the MTP application. Soon further found that my computer does not recognise ADB commands at all, as I used to install .apks from my computer quickly with adb install.
Odin does not even recognise my phone, even when in download mode. The only thing I havent tried yet is ADB in CWM Recovery, but im 99% sure that wont work still.
When I plug the micro-usb plug in it charges fine, but no data connection seems to occur. No windows detection, No USB device connected in the notifications bar.
I have tried:
-Backing up
-Installing vanilla ROM
-Installing stock ROM
-Using different computer with drivers
-Reinstalling Samsung Drivers
-Tried using Kies for the drivers
-Changing SD cards
-Power Cycling phone removing sim and micro-sd cards. Turning on after some time.
-Cleaning the micro-usb port on the phone with dental picks.
Im pretty much out of ideas apart from trying to organise to send it for repairs, after un-rooting.
If I was to re-root do you think this would solve the problem?
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks :good:
UPDATE: I fixed this by using Mr. Despairs suggestion.
Power off, pull battery, SIM, SD card. Power cycled the power button with no battery in it.
Waited about 1-2 minutes.
Battery in boot straight to Download Mode.
Only got it to recognise once in about 15 tries.
Thanks again Mr Despair!
You could also try another cable. Or what I read in another german forum: Shut down your phone, take the battery out and in and reboot. Then reboot into download mode and plug in your phone. Then your PC should search for drivers.
Do this as a colleague says Mr. Despair replace the cable. Often dirt in the connector. Clean the connector on the phone.
Also check ...
Also check on a different computer/port - it could be a problem with the USB drivers on your computer.
Probably the safest test would be to cross-test combinations of 2-3 computers vs 2-3 phones.

He already wrote that he tried more PCs. He would have very bad luck if it is on both. But trying doesn't cost. He shoule then also try to plug it direct into the USB ports and not through a hub.
I have also tried two other cables which both previously worked.
Ill give the hard reboot into download mode a try.
No PC recognises it at all at the moment.
I have tried all USB ports, directly not through a hub or whatnot. This includes other computers too.
Im open to any other suggestions.
Thanks for the help so far
Have you installed KIES?
KIES and ODIN cannot co-exist.
Install ONLY Samsung USB drivers then run ODIN.
As for installing apks, you shouldn't need to install via adb. You can just copy to sdcard and run from there.

I had used ODIN without KIES existing on my system.
I installed KIES to try and get it to read my phone for once.
I used ADB to install .apks when I had ADB running. I have the problem now that I cant use it, because my phone MTP, ADB or even Download Mode wont read my phone. All from different computers etc.
:crying:
Sounds more and more like a hardware failure. What about reboot to CWM then in mounts and storage to mount the USB drive? Can your PC recognize it this way?

Yeah im thinking hardware too. If I throw it into CWM and try to mount /sdcard, it doesnt to anything. Nothing changes it just stays permanently on mount /sdcard. (Its not mounting).
Mounting external_sd works but its not helping me.

My computer won't recognize my gs4. I have the latest drivers installed and have re-installed many times. The only thing it does when I plug it in is charge. It sometimes says windows is searching for the latest driver when I plug it in, but it then it then says it was unplugged. ODIN did manage recognize it once and that was enough for me too root it and then flash the stock kernel back on. My phone then soft-bricked at the padlock after some rom flashing and I had to go to my friends house to flash it back to stock. Is there anything else I can do?
Am I the only one with this problem?
Does it give you the error "USB device not recognized"? If so there are some fixes for it. I fixed my friends when I sold him my S3. His PC did it.
Yes, a couple of times it did that. Now it just does nothing.
If you try and remove the device from your device manager does it do anything?
Right click on computer and go to properties to get to the device manager.
What would it be named? I looked through all the usb stuff and everything else and couldn't find anything that would be my device.

It would be any device with a yellow Triangle and an Exclamation point on it. Also uninstall KIES and your Samsung USB drivers, then reboot. Get updated USB drivers from the S4 link in my signature.

Ok let's try this fix first.
1. Remove phone from PC and shutdown and remove battery to shut off phone.
2. Plug USB cable into PC and phone.
3. Put battery back in and boot phone but…
4. As the phone boots, hold down Volume up and down and don't let go until you see you are in safe mode on the phone. It should say safe mode on the front screen.
5. This should reboot your phone into download mode and install drivers that are needed.
6. Your PC will indicate and recognize the phone.
7. Now if you check the notification drop down on your phone you should see USB/MTP options there in the notification area. MTP should be checked.
Still no luck. Maybe later I will re-install windows or just re install every driver on my computer.
The other fix to try is listed below.
1. Uninstall any previous instance of Kies/USB driver
2. Download the latest Kies, specific to your S3.
3. Download Samsung USB drivers 1.4.6.0 (I've tried newer versions but they all failed)
4. REBOOT
5. Disconnect from internet (VERY IMPORTANT!!! - forcing Windows to install local drivers ONLY)
6. With the phone disconnected, install Kies + USB drivers downloaded in steps 2,3
7. Connect the phone and let Windows install the drivers.
8. Reestablish the internet connection.

My experience with the "Device Malfunctioned" thing was due to a bad cable. It would charge, but wouldn't allow me to connect.
You might also try a different USB port on your computer. Often times the connectors on the back of a desktop system, which are hardwired to the motherboard, work more reliably than the front ones.
