help getting out of demo mode - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My father just bought the 101 internet tablet. during the initial start up he put it into demo mode.
I then downloaded marketfix v5. I was then unable to get into application because I was in the demo mode.
I read that in order to get out of demo mode I would have to go to recovery then fomat the device. If I format the device it would remove the operating system and I would have to go back to archos website to download back the AOS.
This seem very extreme just to get out of demo mode. I would like to know is this correct and would they be any negative affect considering I already downloaded marketfix v5?

No, just do a factory reset kind of format. Then this time when you are doing the setup, don't select demo mode.

my phone wont turn on or even charge the battery

i tired to enter the CWM recovery mode few times, after i didnt success into booting the phone into the CWM recovery mode (becuase i didnt know how to enter it :S) i downloaded app called "ROM Manager" i flash the CWM recovery mode then i turn off the phone after the phone turned off it never turned on or charge
notes :
1) the phone before all this was rooted
2) i used a website to install CWM recovery mode on the phone it worked to install it but yet i cant enter it (this step is before i downloaded "ROM Manager")
Using Rom Manager was a mistake, but probably wouldn't brick your phone. It just doesn't play nice with the S2, tends to cause bootloops & break recovery.
If the phone won't boot at all, no download mode, no recovery - your only option is service centre or local mobile repair shop. Nothing you can do to fix it.
I mean, try a jig by all means, but understand this is very unlikely to get you into download mode.
Having said that, you need to be 100% sure you can't get into download mode (power/home/vol down), if it was me in your situation, I'd be trying over & over & over given the alternative.

ASUS MeMO Pad 7(ME70C)

After trying to root my tablet with ZenFoneRoot, my Tablet went into Demo mode and I couldn't use it at all. I tried flashing with the classic ASUS method (putting the firmware on the SD and updating) but after the update completed, demo mode was still there. So I went into fastboot mode and did a "fastboot wipe system", realising after that I can flash everything except for the system/ directory, which was not a .img file (duh, silly me).
If I select recovery from DroidBoot, I get a message saying "Installing system update" followed by "Error" and that's it... no recovery menu, no nothing.
What should I do to recover my tablet?
Here are the contents of my update zip file from ASUS.

After some research I flashed the WW_MeMo_Pad-11.2.3.17.3-2014100 droidboot (fastboot.img), boot and splashimage and now I can:
fastboot -w -i 0x0b05 flash update UL-K017-WW-11.2.3.21-user.zip
But I get the following error
E: unable to rename file /cache/update.zip: Cross-device link
Tried doing a
fastboot erase cache
without any luck...
Do you guys have any ideas?
Also tried creating a yaffs2 image using "mkyaffs2 system/" but I get a zlink: Invalid Arguments error
A few days later, I contacted Asus, explained the problem and they asked me to send my tablet somewhere out of town and I have to pay for the service (which I think will cost me 50% of the tablet's value). Well this didn't help at all.
I even tried writing a bash script that would fastboot flash system/path for every file in the system directory (yes, flashing ~1000 files took me 30 minutes). But the tablet won't start, even though the files are there and I wiped the system & cache partition before. I still don't understand how the recovery option works or why "wipe data" gives me an error. All I need is a valid system.img file, that's all.
From my research, I'm starting to think that the .zips are signed with SignAPK.
Sorry for asking this question, over and over again. I just want to share my progress with this, seeing that there are some posts without replys regarding this product and with the same problem).
What if I compile Android, copy the libs/ and etc/ directories and flash the resulting system.img (will try this tomorrow).
Thank you!

Same boat here
I tried rooting my ME70C/K01A with RootZenFone-1.4.5r.apk.
Unfortunately I tried it after the 4.4.2 update and now I seem to be stuck in some sort of demo mode. There's a blue icon in the notification bar and I occasionally get a pop-up dialog saying that demo mode has stopped.
I purchased it just this week so I'm thinking back to the store it goes. Maybe I'll just stay with my Motorola Xoom..
bob
Well what I did since the last time I posted was:
- I successfully created a system.img image (using the tools in ADK) that I can flash into my MeMo pad, but the tablet doesn't boot even tough it was a successful flash Anddddd... I'm stuck at this point. Any more ideas?
To remove the offline demo in the notification in ME70C

Successfully rooted Asus Memo Pad(Me70c)K01A

3. Disable Wi-Fi and put the tab in Airplane mode.
4. Download and install RootZenFone-1.4.6r.apk
5. Then run the app. Below press the button “ok I know, please root!” . A warning will pop up just press ”OK”. It may take around 2-3 mins to finish; mean time will show message that demo mode active.
6. Check the notification bar there should be brown the update finish.
7. Power off the tab and boot to boot-loader and then select recovery.
8. The tab will restart to recovery and automatically make system update and gives an error and reboot the tab.
Now there must be SuperSU installed in app list. Then just update the SuperSU app from the play store.

I found this thread while looking for a way to unlock the bootloader but I did not do step 7 - I used 1.46r (attached), installed it, forgot network, went to airplane mode, ran Root Zenphone and then rebooted (not to recovery) and I am now rooted with Busybox installed and not in Demo Mode (and didn't have to disable it)

Hi I have the same issue, but I have no success with "Hold Back Key", when video is playing his entering after few seconds in full screen and back key from the screen dissapear. Please can you help me with that. Thanks!
Chk out this video .This will help out deactivation of demo mode http://youtu.be/vptHAKTvoyw ...
If still don't work ,better to factory reset and try the step from the beginning
I cannot get into Recovery Mode. I boot into Fastboot, select Recovery mode, unit reboots, see the ASUS logo and then it hangs and eventually goes to a blank screen. Almost like the recovery partition is empty.
I was trying to restore my tablet back to a fresh install so I ran (in fastboot mode):
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase cache
How can I get stock recovery back? All I can do it get into fastboot mode. Unit has no OS on it now since I wiped the system partition.

[Q]DigiLand DL1010Q softbricked

Ok, here is the deal and I hope someone can help me. I have a cheap DigiLand DL1010Q tablet to play around with. It is stock, but I rooted it with KingRoot. There was a recent OTA wireless update and after it was installed it said that it needed to go into recovery mode to install and reboot. I selected install now and reboot. This is where my problem started and has remained. It loaded into recovery mode and is in an endless boot loop. I've tried rebooting it, recovery with the recovery file and every manual reset possible to no avail. DigiLand support said that I should power down the tablet, and while holding down the Volume Down (-) hit the power button and it will boot into a Chinese recovery mode. I've tried that and it just stays on the DigiLand screen forever. (I left it there for 8 hours.) I can sideload via ADB and the drivers are installed, but it will not let me load anything. It states that the bootloader is closed. I receive the same message via Fastboot. Now here is the interesting thing. Even after selecting the factory reset within the Recovery Mode, everything is still there. I have wiped the cache and partition and user data, but nothing really happens. It is still all there. I see the recovery file, but it will not load. All I see is NO Command.
I do have a sd card that I could flash things on, but it doesn't seem to register the card. It sees the sdcard, but that is the internal drive. How do I get it to look at the sdcard that I put into the slot? Is there a bootloader unlock? Does anyone have the factory image that I can put on my sdcard? HELP!!!!
I am fairly good with computers and have rooted phones and tablets before, but I seem to be hitting my head on a bricked wall - no pun intended. Let me know what programs, files or whatever. At this point I am willing to try anything. I can send it back to China for $50 for them to redo it, but I only paid $69 for it and I'm not going to put more money into this cheap tablet. I would just like to get it to work.

Recovery mode on tablet shows "No Command"

So I seem to have a unique problem. I have an old tablet by lenovo ( not sure of the model) which I got from an e-learning platform called robomate. So basically the entire tablet was locked down by surelock and the only apps I could access and see on the screen was a custom 'connect to wifi' app and the e- learning app.It is in perfect working condition. A couple of weeks back I decided to try and wipe the tablet so I could use it as a normal tablet. Since the entire tablet was locked down, I decided to try and wipe the tablet from the boot menu. I managed to get the key combination, opened the menu and got 3 options. I selected recovery mode expecting to see an option to format it. However, I get a screen saying 'command not found'. Any suggestions on how I can wipe it or re-flash android onto it?

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 recovery mode and boot loop

Hi Guys,
I hope someone can help, I’ve watched countless videos and tutorials and not one has fixed the issue I have with my tablet.
Initially I had a boot loop problem and purchased a new battery. Now when I try to enter recovery mode I don’t see a list of commands. When it does enter a mode it only gives me an option to download a custom OS or to restart (which throws it back into the startup loop). If I select the download option the android icon appears with “Downloading”. But in the top left hand corner it says
Odin Mode
Product Name: GT-P5210
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Official
The tablet doesn’t appear to be doing anything?
Do I need to connect it to a PC and do something else? In the recovery videos online it shows options to clear cache etc but I cannot access any menus? It only will go into the above download mode?
Please can someone advise me
Thanks
Did you solve this problem?
Downloading just means it's waiting to get anything from Odin.
Has to be connected to a PC of course.
