[Q] HTC HD2 - Internet Problem - This connection is pre configured? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I am in India. My friend has just given me a HTC HD2. I have performed a factory reset on it.
Now, when I try to open any website I get the below message.
"T-Mobile internet
This connection is pre-configured. It cannot be modified."
Please suggest how to overcome this. I have never faced such kind of problem in my earlier Windows 6 Mobile Phones.
I have googled it and found that I need to flash the ROM of the phone to enable other carriers data settings.
BUT, I am not sure which ROM to download and how to install it
Regards,
Ankur

ok first of all be VERY careful, sounds like it is a tmous (t mobile US)
does it have green send & red end keys?
if yes then you CANNOT flash ANY stock roms (except tmous), so do not try to change the language or region by flashing a different stock rom. you WILL kill it.
Apply hspl and find a tmous compatible cooked rom, or perhaps look into android.
If no, if the send and end keys are white, then you can simply apply HSPL and flash anything you like, which will most likely get rid of that stuck connection.

Thanks a ton for your time Sam. I really appreciate this.
It has white keys just like the in the attached pic.
I have installed HSPL on my device using this thread youtube video to install HSPL. I searched "How to install HSPL (HardSPL) to the HTC HD2 (Leo)" and tried it
Bootloader before HSPL
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-1.42.0000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x40

Click to collapse
Bootloader after HSPL
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-1.42.HSPL XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x40
Click to collapse
Now, I need to Flash any ROM on it. I am not sure which on to use. Request you to please send me any link of any ROM which is suitable for my phone.
Although, I have downloaded 190 MB file -RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe. I am not sure if I can use it.
Thanks again for your help.

Ahh. Then you have a regular hd2 and there is much less danger.
You can take your pick. The rom you mentioned is old. 3.14 is the latest.

Hi Sam,
I tried on the HTC Europe site, when I am trying to download I am getting the error in the attached screenshot.
Can I download "Download Artemis 56.0 WWE (English)" from here ?
OR
this one given here.
Please suggest which one to go for, I am absolutely new to Flashing ROMs.
Also, can I Flash the new ROM using Microsoft Activesync, I saw the procedure in this youtube video and found it very easy.
I am extremely sorry if I am annoying you, but I have another small question. What if I mess up while flashing new ROM, will I be able to restore back to my Original Phone.
Thanks a lot again. You people are gems.

you can flash any of those roms. dont get confused by the words 'activesync', , , the best way to flash is to put teh phone uin bootlaoder yourself first, THEN run the flash over usb. activesync will not look like it is connected, but dont worry.
Yes, sure, go for the artemis rom. you need 3.03.hspl for that rom, so
hspl4 - 3.03.hspl - flash the rom.
or, since you already have spl 3.03.0000, you can avoid hspl and use sspl to flash the artemis rom.

As suggested, I will now download and try installing Artemis rom from here

Many thanks Sam,
I am a relieved man now. I have flashed Artemis ROM.
All is working well, now I am able to browse internet perfectly
I just found bug (I believe), when I try to increase volume "during call" , the phone hangs. Otherwise it works well.
Now, I am looking a "registry entry" to fix this.
Again, thanks you made my day.

Ps. excuse me for bad English and if i put this post at wrong place, couldn't find any post like this
have you flashed a stock rom from sd card recently? that would remove hspl and prevent further flashing
boot to bootloader, what does it say next to spl?

as negaworlf said, the spl code would be x.xx.HSPL and not x.xx.0000.
Use hspl2 and from teh dropdown use one that ends '.hspl' (Doesnt matter which you use, so long as it ends .hspl)

I have android now and maybe you could just answer one more question, when someone call me or send me a sms or on youtube it's only vibrating, and i have tried to fix it in settings but cant find the problem. Does anybody know what's wrong ?

possible brick, fml.

This is currently what my bootloader loads up. This all happended when i tried to flash back to stock. Im pretty sure I messed up somewere.
Whenever I try to load a custom rom (I was using an energy rom prior), it will get up to 81% the highest ive gotten it, then gives me an error.
When I try to flash another stock rom I found here, the 2.10 ship rom, i cant get it passed 23%.
anyone know what I have to do to fix this brick?

are you trying with 2.10.0 which comes as an .exe file, or 2.10.1 which doesn't? Because the 2.10.1 rom found in the tmous section stock roms thread is treated by the phone as a cooked rom, (requires hspl) and doesn't include the stock spl. Make sure to use the 2.10.0
Also, can you connect to the phone with hspl3? if so, can you reset the hspl to 2.08.0000? (thats good enough for warranty, and it may also fix the flashing problem.)

[Q] HD2 Completely locked down

I have been searching and googling for over 2 hours straight and cant find any solution to my problem:
I was going to install the Custom HD2 Android. But my radio was to old. so I decided to update it with the newest rom.
I Installed the HSPL thingy, did the whole renaming and placement of LEOIMG.nbh
and tried to install it via bootloader. But it stopped at 9% telling me: "00028002 Not allowed"
So now I cant get passed a screen:

MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x30
Upgrade ROM code error
Please try again
USB
I'm starting to believe there is nothing I can do.. Cant access my sd card when plugged to the pc or nothing..
Is there ANYTHING someone can help me with?
I believe your problem lies with SPL 3.03. I don't think even the latest HSPL will work. I think what you have to do is flash an older stock ROM in order for your SPL to revert to 2.10. Then use HSPL3 to HSPL your device. Then you can flash any ROM you want.

won't work on none tmous phone because spl 3 won't let itself downgrade to spl1. just like spl2 wouldn't downgrade to 1.
the tmous users CAN downgrade from 3 to 2, but there are no spl2 roms for none tmous users.
@OP
if you have a tmous phone then flash a stock tmous rom from sd card.
if you have a normal hd2 then you are stuck on spl3 until hspl gets updated.
EDIT - my answer was incorrect, I was being wary until someone confirmed the spl CAN be downgraded by flashing a correct stock rom for your phone (USB is fine), or by using a goldcard.

you flashed the 3.x rom from sd card. the first thing an sd card flash does is remove hspl, and replace it with stock spl. next, the rom checks that the phone matches the rom, which in your case it doesn't, so it stops and fails.
you could try forcing an spl 2.08.0000 tmous rom on it using goldcard, in the hope it will then allow you to run hspl2.
But all of this requires me to have access to my sd card? I don't have that :\
ah ok.then its time to wait for the next hspl version to support spl3.x
Would it be too much to ask if you could send me a pm or a mail at [email protected] whenever that happens? Probably going back to a good old Sony Ericsson in the meantime, hehe
i'd like to say yes, but it could be several weeks, and i can barely remember to feed myself from one day to the next, so..... heh.
however When it does come out, it will be hard not to notice, just skim the latest thread titles every day or two.
edit - oh, and don't give up just yet, I could be mistaken, its not unusual!. i haven't touched the 3.x rom/spl yet, so i could be wrong.
this thread, for instance,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814838
suggests that the spl CAN be downgraded. reports are still confused.
you could for instance try flashing the 3.x rom over usb using SSPL, and then you'd at least have a working phone.
EDIT - MY RESPONSES IN THIS THREAD WERE NOT BASED ON ALL THE INFORMATION WE NOW HAVE REGARDING SPL 3.03
THE 3.03 SPL CAN BE DOWNGRADED EASILY BY USING THE CORRECT STOCK ROM FOR YOUR PHONE, FLASHED EITHER USB OR SD CARD.

[Q] Help with flashing from stock ROM 3.14 'back' to ROM 1.66

Hi Guys,
Need your advice please! Want to be absolutely sure before proceeding as do not want to 'brick' my phone!
I had a UK T-Mobile branded HD2. I installed HSPL a few months back (went through the guide on this site - thanks!), just to allow me to install the official stock ROMs from the HTC website.
I was running on the official HTC ROM 1.66 WWE up until the recent release 3.14. I installed this, but i've had some unusual problems. For instance, the Opera browser randomly closing when before it would run in the background. The same goes with email and other programs like Facebook would just randomly close. Sometimes my browser favourites would not be displayed, and also it would not fully load web pages and just sit there. I know they've made some improvements with the background processes and CPU handling, so not sure if this is what I should be expecting. However it is driving me crazy!
Now I just want to 'roll back' to the previous official HTC stock ROM 1.66 as I find this more stable and did not encounter these issues.
My bootloader screen reads as followed:
PB1100 HX-BC
SPL-1.42.HSPL XE
CotullaHSPL
In this scenario, can I simply connect my HD2 to my PC/laptop via USB and run the exe file downloaded from the HTC website and flash per their instructions? Or are there some other steps I need to take?
I've done some searching, but have not yet encountered anyone going back the other way. Most people seem to be happy on 3.14, but not me!
Also I know sometimes it will not allow you to roll back if you have a newer version installed.
Thanking you in advance!
J
the reason you had problems is because the 3.14 roms aren't compatible with hspl, or with older spls, only spl 3.x. There is no t-mo 3.14 rom yet, so your only option to get 3.14 would be goldcard.
you still have hspl installed, so just go ahead and flash what you like. USB is fine.

[Q] Bricked phone with SPL 3.03

It seems that my phone is bricked after I tried to flash a stock rom on it (3.14 something), which is obviously not for my phone because it is WWE. That failed flash left me with SPL 3.03 and now I can't flash anything else. Tried to Hard reset it with another stock rom from the sd card, but failed again. Any ideas how to fix it?
Hspl4, pick whatever spl you want.
or, use your serial to grab a rom from HTC website, into bootloader, flash it.
I tried using the usb flash aproach but it failed as well.
So I tried hard reseting with a stock rom on the sd card and I got this on the red green blue screen when after it failed.
pb81100 hx-bc
spl 3.03.0000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x50
Upgrade ROM code error
wrong stock rom. Only the CORRECT stock roms will work, hence using your serial number on eth htc website.
Thats the usual reason for this type of error, wrong stock rom from sd card.
I got my spl to 1.42 but it gives me error when I try to flash this rom from the official web site. RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship
And none of the roms on the htc site accepts my S/N. Which rom should I get?
Where's the phone from? Its down to you to find out. Example, mines from o2, so I would try to download o2 roms cos wwe wouldn't work.
Course, the easy way is to use hspl4, and then flash any rom you like OVER USB.....SD will remove hspl and then fail, which is prob what happened to you in post 1
I think the phone is from Germany, because the packaging is in German. I used Energy rom before, so can I use it to flash via the usb cable ?

Yes but flash HSPL first, I suggest you use HSPL 3.03 which is in HSPL 4.
Thanks guys, fixed it. Now I'll try installing Android on the SD card.
