[Q] Bricked phone with SPL 3.03 - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It seems that my phone is bricked after I tried to flash a stock rom on it (3.14 something), which is obviously not for my phone because it is WWE. That failed flash left me with SPL 3.03 and now I can't flash anything else. Tried to Hard reset it with another stock rom from the sd card, but failed again. Any ideas how to fix it?

Hspl4, pick whatever spl you want.
or, use your serial to grab a rom from HTC website, into bootloader, flash it.

I tried using the usb flash aproach but it failed as well.
So I tried hard reseting with a stock rom on the sd card and I got this on the red green blue screen when after it failed.
pb81100 hx-bc
spl 3.03.0000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x50
Upgrade ROM code error

wrong stock rom. Only the CORRECT stock roms will work, hence using your serial number on eth htc website.
Thats the usual reason for this type of error, wrong stock rom from sd card.

I got my spl to 1.42 but it gives me error when I try to flash this rom from the official web site. RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship
And none of the roms on the htc site accepts my S/N. Which rom should I get?

Where's the phone from? Its down to you to find out. Example, mines from o2, so I would try to download o2 roms cos wwe wouldn't work.
Course, the easy way is to use hspl4, and then flash any rom you like OVER USB.....SD will remove hspl and then fail, which is prob what happened to you in post 1

I think the phone is from Germany, because the packaging is in German. I used Energy rom before, so can I use it to flash via the usb cable ?

Yes but flash HSPL first, I suggest you use HSPL 3.03 which is in HSPL 4.

Thanks guys, fixed it. Now I'll try installing Android on the SD card.

[Q] Stuck at bootloader when trying to flash stock rom

Like the title says, im just stuck at bootloader and instead of booting to the white screen it just stays on bootloader and says "SERIAL".
Ive googled, youtubed, and searched here, and many have the same problem, but i have yet to seen a solution to this.
I have tried android and many custom roms, and now im back on original ROM and everything works great. BUT i have HSPL in my phone and i dont want it for now.
It is a very easy procedure in the guides and should not be a problem, but please how can i get my LEOIMG.nbh to boot from my memorycard?
It is formated FAT32, and i have tried redownload the stock rom and unpacked it with winrar several times, but the result is always the same.
Is there some way to go around this? I Just wanna boot from the memorycard and restore my phone.
FYI, the restore is just for warranty issues.. I just want to be able to go back just to be on the safe side..
Then after that i can try the cooked roms all days
Thanks!
What size is the microSD card? As there has been reports of problems flashing from 16GB cards.
While in bootloader mode, you can plug in the microUSB and the 'Serial' should be replaced by 'USB'. This means that you can run the flashing from the computer (just ignore the requirement for ActiveSync).
Thanks for the quick reply!
I have a 8 GB memorycard.
Just before i read your post i inserted the usbcable and the screen on my htc says "USB".
But how do i uninstall HSPL from my PC in usbmode? Use customRUU and place LEOIMG.nbh in that folder?
If you install either the HTC Stock or your mobile provider's ROM (what ever you need for warranty requirements), they will flash your phone with SPL, ROM and RADIO.
These ROMs are avaiable from your mobile provider's website or via a link in the ROM Section.
Sounds great!
So i just run the original .exe file from my PC when my HTC HD2 is in bootloader screen in USB-mode, correct?
I have alreade flashed with original rom from PC when my phone was online. But then the HSPL did not go away even though my original rom was installed.
I could use alittle help too
when i try to update it stops at 4% tried to flash other energy roms with the same issue. don't know what todo to get past 4%

use the hspl.exe program to remove hspl just like you used it to apply it. just choose a stock spl instead of the hspl.
example, regular hd2, wants to go back to o2 stock everything.
run hspl2, choose 1.66.0000
run the o2 1.72.exe rom over usb.
all done.
if the rom doesn't flash its not the correct stock rom.

At first i used HSPL 3 to install 2.08.0000 HSPL.
But if i run that file again i only have the choice 2.08.0000.
I downloaded a previous version of HSPL, and there i could choose SPL 1.42.0000 wich was my original SPL version before the flash.
Is this a correct way to do this?
I am asking again because even though i now am at the original ROM and Original SPL version the Radio and Protokoll-version differs from the versions when i bought the telephone.
radio and protocol doesn't matter. yes you've done it right. so long as its a stock rom and the spl ends 0000 then it's fine.
Ok thanks!
Then everything is ok now and i am very happy for that, so thanks for all answers!
I can also add that i took my original SD-card (2GB) and put the LEOIMG.nbh on it.
The bootsequence then started ok when holding down volumebutton and power on.
But the result was exactly the same as it was when flashing to stock SPL with HSPL2 utility.
So the booting-problem was memorycard related.. So it seems that even some 8 gb memorymodules have problems.
Just thought you should know.

This is currently what my bootloader loads up. This all happended when i tried to flash back to stock. Im pretty sure I messed up somewere.
Whenever I try to load a custom rom (I was using an energy rom prior), it will get up to 81% the highest ive gotten it, then gives me an error.
When I try to flash another stock rom I found here, the 2.10 ship rom, i cant get it passed 23%.
anyone know what I have to do to fix this brick?

are you trying with 2.10.0 which comes as an .exe file, or 2.10.1 which doesn't? Because the 2.10.1 rom found in the tmous section stock roms thread is treated by the phone as a cooked rom, (requires hspl) and doesn't include the stock spl. Make sure to use the 2.10.0
Also, can you connect to the phone with hspl3? if so, can you reset the hspl to 2.08.0000? (thats good enough for warranty, and it may also fix the flashing problem.)

[Q] HD2 Completely locked down

I have been searching and googling for over 2 hours straight and cant find any solution to my problem:
I was going to install the Custom HD2 Android. But my radio was to old. so I decided to update it with the newest rom.
I Installed the HSPL thingy, did the whole renaming and placement of LEOIMG.nbh
and tried to install it via bootloader. But it stopped at 9% telling me: "00028002 Not allowed"
So now I cant get passed a screen:

I'm starting to believe there is nothing I can do.. Cant access my sd card when plugged to the pc or nothing..
Is there ANYTHING someone can help me with?
I believe your problem lies with SPL 3.03. I don't think even the latest HSPL will work. I think what you have to do is flash an older stock ROM in order for your SPL to revert to 2.10. Then use HSPL3 to HSPL your device. Then you can flash any ROM you want.

won't work on none tmous phone because spl 3 won't let itself downgrade to spl1. just like spl2 wouldn't downgrade to 1.
the tmous users CAN downgrade from 3 to 2, but there are no spl2 roms for none tmous users.
@OP
if you have a tmous phone then flash a stock tmous rom from sd card.
if you have a normal hd2 then you are stuck on spl3 until hspl gets updated.
EDIT - my answer was incorrect, I was being wary until someone confirmed the spl CAN be downgraded by flashing a correct stock rom for your phone (USB is fine), or by using a goldcard.

you flashed the 3.x rom from sd card. the first thing an sd card flash does is remove hspl, and replace it with stock spl. next, the rom checks that the phone matches the rom, which in your case it doesn't, so it stops and fails.
you could try forcing an spl 2.08.0000 tmous rom on it using goldcard, in the hope it will then allow you to run hspl2.
But all of this requires me to have access to my sd card? I don't have that :\
ah ok.then its time to wait for the next hspl version to support spl3.x
Would it be too much to ask if you could send me a pm or a mail at [email protected] whenever that happens? Probably going back to a good old Sony Ericsson in the meantime, hehe
i'd like to say yes, but it could be several weeks, and i can barely remember to feed myself from one day to the next, so..... heh.
however When it does come out, it will be hard not to notice, just skim the latest thread titles every day or two.
edit - oh, and don't give up just yet, I could be mistaken, its not unusual!. i haven't touched the 3.x rom/spl yet, so i could be wrong.
this thread, for instance,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814838
suggests that the spl CAN be downgraded. reports are still confused.
you could for instance try flashing the 3.x rom over usb using SSPL, and then you'd at least have a working phone.
EDIT - MY RESPONSES IN THIS THREAD WERE NOT BASED ON ALL THE INFORMATION WE NOW HAVE REGARDING SPL 3.03
THE 3.03 SPL CAN BE DOWNGRADED EASILY BY USING THE CORRECT STOCK ROM FOR YOUR PHONE, FLASHED EITHER USB OR SD CARD.

[q] hd2 in bootloader mode after offcial rom upgrade

Hi Masters ,,
I had HD2 stuck on HTC than i downloaded the official HTC ROM for HD2 from HTC.com and i put it on bootloader mode and started flashing it after 8% i got an error saying this application is not for your phone and i had downloaded using my S/N HT033NW05122 .( RUU_Leo_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.14.707.3_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship )
Than my phone turned on witha black triangle and an X and straight into bootloader mode ...
HX-BC
SPL-1.42.HSPL XE
(blank space) 0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x20
Now i am confused how to revive my phone as i dont know if this phone has been jailbroken as in HArd SPL or not and when i use official Rom it refuses ...
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Help me out here
thanks
mike
Stock ROM 3.14 isn't compatible with HSPL; so first remove your HSPL.
flashing that rom from sd card should have removed hspl anyway, set spl 3.03.0000, rebooted and then given black screen with triangle.
Whats odd is the first line of bootloader, does it really only say
HX-BC
SPL-1.42.HSPL XE
(blank space) 0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x20
or did you miss a bit off?
Cos if so, then it sounds like a corrupted device ID, which some people have had before, though usually with corrupted characters before the HX-BC, so all flashing fails the ID check.
Yes it only says like that .. before flashing it was ok but now it is corrupted ... How do i flash this with SD card ... just put it in Sd card and and boot it in bootloader mode ?
, Also how do i remover HSPL ? please explain
And if i want to flash a firmware with HSPL is it possible and if possible which firmware and how ?
thanks

sorry, ive never seen anyone with a corrupt ID get anything to flash, roms, radios, hspl, sd card, nothing.
But, get a 2gb or smaller card, format it FAT32,,,,, find a 1.4x or 1.6x or 1.7x stock rom for your phone, it MUST be the correct stock rom for your phone, download it, right click the .exe file choose extract here, it will extract several files, one file is RUU_Signed.nbh, copy that to the sd card, rename it leoimg.nbh, insert sd card, boot into bootloader, screen should go grey with blue writing.
If that doesnt work, you are stuck.
Thanks bro for your explaination .. can u give me a website where i can get this roms please ...
As i am new to this
thanks
Mike
htc website, or on here rom development section, leo official roms thread, first post first link.
RUU_Leo_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.14.707.3_Radio_15.42.50.1 1U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship
I used the same firmware and flashed it with SD card as you explained me and now the HD2 is back again but the problem now remains the same as it initially was stuck on boot showing HTC in green and R 2.15.50.14 G 15.42.50.11U and D 3.14.04666
AND when i go to Bootloader Screen this is what it shows
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-3.0.3.0000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x20
So i guess HSPL is gone and now everything looks fine but phone not booting which was the initial problem
Please help
Thanks
Mike
not sure what further to suggest, but at least it is stock, so warranty is valid.
"PB81100 HX-BC

MicroP(TOUCH) 0x20"
try loading a 1.66 rom first from SD card, and then load the 3.14 using PC, (might want to try another computer)

[Q] HTC HD2 - Internet Problem - This connection is pre configured?

Hey,
I am in India. My friend has just given me a HTC HD2. I have performed a factory reset on it.
Now, when I try to open any website I get the below message.
"T-Mobile internet
This connection is pre-configured. It cannot be modified."
Please suggest how to overcome this. I have never faced such kind of problem in my earlier Windows 6 Mobile Phones.
I have googled it and found that I need to flash the ROM of the phone to enable other carriers data settings.
BUT, I am not sure which ROM to download and how to install it
Regards,
Ankur
ok first of all be VERY careful, sounds like it is a tmous (t mobile US)
does it have green send & red end keys?
if yes then you CANNOT flash ANY stock roms (except tmous), so do not try to change the language or region by flashing a different stock rom. you WILL kill it.
Apply hspl and find a tmous compatible cooked rom, or perhaps look into android.
If no, if the send and end keys are white, then you can simply apply HSPL and flash anything you like, which will most likely get rid of that stuck connection.
Thanks a ton for your time Sam. I really appreciate this.
It has white keys just like the in the attached pic.
I have installed HSPL on my device using this thread youtube video to install HSPL. I searched "How to install HSPL (HardSPL) to the HTC HD2 (Leo)" and tried it

Thanks again for your help.
Ahh. Then you have a regular hd2 and there is much less danger.
You can take your pick. The rom you mentioned is old. 3.14 is the latest.

Hi Sam,
I tried on the HTC Europe site, when I am trying to download I am getting the error in the attached screenshot.
Can I download "Download Artemis 56.0 WWE (English)" from here ?
OR
this one given here.
Please suggest which one to go for, I am absolutely new to Flashing ROMs.
Also, can I Flash the new ROM using Microsoft Activesync, I saw the procedure in this youtube video and found it very easy.
I am extremely sorry if I am annoying you, but I have another small question. What if I mess up while flashing new ROM, will I be able to restore back to my Original Phone.
Thanks a lot again. You people are gems.
you can flash any of those roms. dont get confused by the words 'activesync', , , the best way to flash is to put teh phone uin bootlaoder yourself first, THEN run the flash over usb. activesync will not look like it is connected, but dont worry.
Yes, sure, go for the artemis rom. you need 3.03.hspl for that rom, so
hspl4 - 3.03.hspl - flash the rom.
or, since you already have spl 3.03.0000, you can avoid hspl and use sspl to flash the artemis rom.

I am a relieved man now. I have flashed Artemis ROM.
All is working well, now I am able to browse internet perfectly
I just found bug (I believe), when I try to increase volume "during call" , the phone hangs. Otherwise it works well.
Now, I am looking a "registry entry" to fix this.
Again, thanks you made my day.
