Hey there!
I'm just curious to if there is a higher version than 2.1 Eclair for the X10 mini pro as from what I see on the forums here, all the custom roms are based on 2.1.
Does anyone know why this is, and/or if there ever will be a more recent port?
Kinda sucks, considering it's limitations compared to 2.2.
Thank you!

there are many more roms past Eclair. CM6 = Froyo. CM7 = Gingerbread, each have their own respective threads.

well obviously 2.1 with multitouch has an advantage over 2.2 AOSP atm because one, 2.2 AOSP is still in development theres still work gotta be done, camera and stability etc, two, 2.1 with multitouch update would run superb on the X10 because its been developement and fully polished but one thing about 2.2 is, is that its ton faster than 2.1
but for me im sticking to my 2.2 AOSP atm with Gingerbread theme atm, i dont really need a camera anyways
i would say free x10 its perfectly stable other then the well known issues that causes the system to reboot, and once the update from SE comes out with MT im sure J and Z will be able to port it to 2.2 hopefully without too much hassle so it should be available on both the 2.1 and 2.2.
Fx10 is about as good as it gets for the x10 right now and its my daily rom and plenty stable for everyday use (at least for me). so thats my choice, if you need a camera though it seems Z is working his but off on it and has gotten something working so perhaps the next update will bring it to us.
2.1
with some mods.
Now that the latest mini's are announced with 2.3 it should be that much easier for SE to release 2.3 update for older mini's. Plus they are also on board with the latest Andriod update policy, anyway to remind this fact i started a thread in fb se fan page which is guaranteed to bring their attention.

I don't think so.
I suppose it apply just for "new" phones, not "old" ones
Doubt it: knowing Sony , theyll just say the original X10 mini never existed.

hope this updated coming through
they will not update it the new mini and the new pro are completely different then the old mini and the old pro screen size ARM family and that ****
they will not make an update for old mini and pro coz the new mini and pro are realeased
We still have to write the official site!
While I would very much like an oficial update, it just wouldn't make any sense for a commercial point of view, even if the new Mini line was the same hardware, they want to sell more phones, not rehash old ones.
I think that SE never release Android 2.3 for old mini/mini pro... I' m owner of mini pro and I just rooted and used MiniCM v7 what's Android 2.3 and it's much better than SE ever can release

Are you sure? Because until nobodyatAll fixes it, Your Mini Pro won't be able to use the 5MP Camera or VGA Recording, things that would be working perfectly on a stock SE 2.3 ROM.

What are the realistic factors limiting them in making an update for our Mini/MP's?
I understand that the hardware specs are different, but they both possess the same functionality and run the same features. If they're making the update for the x10, surely it wouldn't be too great a leap in tweaking it to release on a device thats pretty much exactly the same? I'm not a developer, but it just sounds like a cop out.
I understand that it is almost impossible that SE upgrades old minis.
But, as long as the new minis have android 2.3, I'm sure that it would be easier to develop a custom ROM based on that one.
Let's hope it's stable.
Yes but why? They're just a smaller version of the same phone but with slightly less impressive specs i.e. the x10 has a 1ghz processor, whilst the mini/MP has a 600mhz processor, which has been overclocked comfortably by a lot of guys here.

There is no realistic factor limiting them, its probably just their marketing department.
i want to use rom cook but i don't know what room cook have long battery life that?
You might want to find a forum that speaks your own language or try to make it more clear what you mean. I didn't understood much of what you said. Also, since it's about battery life in some way, there probably already is a topic for whatever you want to ask, and in that topic your answer probably is too. Use the search function
The truth is that this very talked the matter.
What version 1.6 is already outdated, version 2.1 is far better, to say nothing of 2.2.1 and 2.3.x
Ok, I think I understood what he meant.
He's looking for a Gingerbread (or Froyo) rom which has same battery life as his xperia x10 mini pro with Android 1.6 (~ 4 days).
First they leave us at 2.1... Then they upgrade X10 to 2.3, but stil leaves us at 2.1... THEN they upgrade all the newer ones to 4.0, but still leaving us at 2.1 We Deserve a upgrade to atleast Froyo!...
Please, SE, Try Upgrading our Minis/Mini pros to 2.3 or at least 2.2...

****throws something at the wall****
Well.. We already have good and stable 2.3 ROMs for our phones, most thanks to nobodyAtall (Mini) and Slade87 (Mini Pro)
Yeah custom roms are good. Hopefully we can get a ICS port for our MP's

I wouldn't count on SE upgrading our phones anymore. Even the Cyanogenmod team was not able to release a properly working 2.3 ROM for our phones
I love to see when SE would actually do that.
Maybe when the new xperia models will be getting ICS around the time they are already short of their first year's?
The nexus one not getting ics is worrying me. Google should know Android the best, yet they can't make an ics update for the nexus one. And what is our hardware compared to the nexus one?.sure, it could be for marketing reasons to get people to upgrade. But I'm still worried.

The Xperia X10 MINI and MINI PRO came out last year. And Sony Ericsson say they support officially their phones 2 years after purchase. We are not talking about the X10. And we don't care you bought a new phone to come and rub it in our faces.
While development is still active for our devices I see no reason to upgrade.
I'd say give it a few months and we may see a port for our devices.
And if not then I'm not fussed' having 2.3 is a privalige itself to say SE support only 2.1
I heard that ICS allows you to connect keyboard, pad etc. via usb port in phone?
OTG or something like that. When ICS will be much more stable and bugless, will it be possible on our lovely x10?
I really dont think so,becasue its only for stock kernel, and without a custom kernel its very laggy, and lets face it,hardware on x10 its old,but maybe cyanogen, zdzihu,or another great dev can port it,to its full potential

Zdzihu is porting it but at moment I think devs are working on getting cm9 for us.

4.0.1 yes.
HTC HD2 has same hardware specs from what i know and it handles 4.0.1 very well. Some even say it is faster than 2.1 and 2.3. Can't see why X10 wouldn't do it.
HD2 has 448 MB RAM.
Comparing android 2.3 to 4.0 is like
Windows XP to Windows 7
Maybe faster, but requires more RAM.
