Did a quick sesrch and didnt find anything on it here, so im not sure if its been discussed here or not. I paid for a new keyboard tonight that i must say is pretty awesome for our Streaks, and i woild reccommend it. Thumb Keyboard. It is quite customizable with different variations, themes, and ability to even change letter sizes. It will take a bit of getting used to if you choose the split screen option as i have, but all in all its pretty sweet. Give it a looksee.

Just installed this app too and I'm loving its 5" split keyboard layout.
I have been using it for a while now. I stick to standard keyboards for my setup.

I've been using it for quite a while now too, and really love that the new update brought multi-touch (before I would seriously screw up words here and there because multiple fingers would confuse it).
Thumb Keyboard just needs one thing
I'm loving it...
Before I was using the Swype keyboard because of the size of the buttons and I really didn't like the Gingerbread keyboard or the ANdroid....
The Thumb Keyboard only needs one minor little tweak which is the way it handles full screen input... I don't like for it to take up the whole screen so I have it set not to, but sometimes then I can't see the box I'm typing into because it gets stuck behind the keyboard...
Beyond that I have no complaints
I've been using TK since January with no problems. However, the update from yesterday V4.1 causes FCs every 5-6 SECONDS following reboot until uninstall and reinstall of 3.02. I have been in contact with Paul (developer) for past week.
Anyone else having this problem? It only happens if I reboot. From install to reboot it works perfectly.
StreakDroid 1.9.0 New Engineered BB
Im using 4.0 and the only issue i have is that the "a" button gives me double a's all the time. Weird, and annoying. Otherwise im liking this keyboard a lot.

My keyboard of choice as well. Cheap, lots of updates and development. Awesome customization, themes...
Just another app to make the Streak awesomer!
TK v4.1 is now working perfectly for me. Much better build than 4.0.
Everything I downloaded from the market this past week had a problem installing. Market ran slow and fc'd constantly. That cleared up yesterday. I re-downloaded all of my updates from last week and everything installed correctly and runs perfectly!

I had the same issue. Doing a Screen Calibration on Recovery Mode (power + up + down buttons) fixed it.
To everyone using Thumb Keyboard -- is it just me or the latest version is a little bit slow/laggy?
As I said above, v4.1 is much better than v4.0.
I only notice a lag when posting on certain forum esp. Pocketables Dell Streak Forum. Otherwise, no lag.
Developer e-mailed me that a new version will be out soon to correct the number pad bug.

Am running 4.1.2, and loving it by the way, 5" inch goodness and both thumbs going, just drives the wife crazy (one small enjoyment since she has been driving me crazy for 26 years on pretty regular basis) Anyways is beansoft going to update to 4.1.3 or is 4.1.2 the update?
4.1.2 is the most current. I don't know what the next version will be numbered. Could be 4.1.3 or he may skip some versions before releasing the update.
I have been kicking around getting the Atrix as my first Android cause I love my friends HTC Incredible so much but I am on AT&T so the Atrix looks like a good one to me, but I am just wondering if this phone has any bugs that need to be worked out as far as software or hardware goes? Thanks
The bugs on the ATRIX is due to MOTOBLUR. You can set the ATRIX free if you root and unlock it

My experience with the Atrix.
I've had the phone for 3 days. Overall it's an amazing device. However, since I've had it the main issue has been reboots&crashes(my phone is not rooted). The funny thing is when I'm using it, it has never rebooted or crashed, but when it's idle it tends to crash frequently(about 10 times per day). As of now, I'm still trying to figure out what's causing this. So far from what I've found on a few android forums suggests that the problem only exists on some devices. There are some Atrix phones that don't have the rebooting problem at all.

Oh, okay so it's kind of like a Volkswagen where one is great and the other is junk? Ha ha just playin. But I take it that this is not really a common problem with this phone but you just got unlucky, and maybe another handful of people?
Or maybe like Mr flo said up above that it's all because of Motoblur?
Imo wait till October or November. There will be a whole new line up of phones coming out. The Atrix is epic but there will be better in the new future.

forget trying to figure out whats wrong and exchange it for another if you can, thats something in the hardware most likely
Overall it's a solid phone, and almost every iPhone user that made the changeover usually posts that they are happy they left the iPhone for the Atrix.
In the end you are getting a dual-core phone with a 1GB of RAM and a large battery.
Plus this phone just got the BL unlocked, so that means you will have CM7 and Ice Cream Sandwich in some form (possibly even official)...

"future proof" makes me happy I just realized that I just made 10 posts! Ha ha!! I'm FREE!! Now it's time for me to go into the DEVELOPMENT THREAD and cause some real trouble, ha ha.
i have had mine for about 3 days, no reboots and whatnot. I am liking the way the phone feels and works. calls are clear via bluetooth speakerphone and the regular earpiece.
ive ditched the default messaging app for chomp sms(its basically bitesms but better and smoother in alot of ways, same dev team if im not mistaken). and im not using the default launcher anymore, launcher pro seems smoother.
anyway hardwarewise the phone is awesome, even with the motoblur on it in a nonrooted oem rom. with that said i plan to root and try out some different roms in the near future

This is my first android phone and I love it! I've already rooted and unlocked it. I've flashed several ROM's already and have had excellent results. There have been a few reboots and connection issues but nothing to seriously complain about. My current ROM has taken care of all that and I'm getting over 30 hours of battery life without changing anything. I don't know about "future proof" with LTE coming but it will be tough to find a better phone
I have 2 in my household.
The wife's is as stock as stock can be and it is rock solid. Never had an issue with the phone. No force closes, no issues, just a solid work beast. Nearly, only nearly mind, rivals a Berry for battery life.
Mine on the other hand has gone through the wars a bit as regards reliability BUT all of those issues were my fault not the phone.
I am like most of those posting here in that I do like to play and tinker with ROMs, apps and anything else we can think of playing with. The upside is that after that learning curve I have a phone that is fantastically quick, great battery life and not really going to be left wanting for much over the next year or two as regards hardware.
Same as most android's really it is what you make of it. If you want a solid work beast, it can do that. If you want to play, you can do that.
Importantly though is that the initial learning curve has been gone through, mostly on this great forum, so if you want to root, mod, unlock the bootloader and whatever else may come make sure you research it.
There is only one rule really. If you unlock the bootloader and use the official AT&T Gingerbread update NEVER go back to Froyo. Remember that and now it is quite hard to mess up.
I know I have tried !
Wow, thanks a lot guys... I think this will be my first Android after reading what you all have said about this phone. Thanks for taking the time to give me your opinions, and to the guy that hates the phone... Dude I'm really sorry you got a dud.

Alright, so this phone needs some serious consideration. Of Course, this phone probably didn't fly as much as it was promoted, I still guess its promotion was a little weaker than I expected.
I have been using Atrix since its launch. About 8 months and never had any issues with my phone.
Phone durability - Rock Solid, even though you can feel the plastic all around, but the phone is light in weight, and it still is very sturdy. Have dropped it a few times(Of course with a cover on top - so no scratches) but even after those many drops, phone is absolutely fine.
Screen - First qHD display. Truly amazing. I feel it better than iPhone's retina display, trust me when I say it, have used iphone 4 and exchanged it with Atrix.
Call Quality - SubPar. No noise issues. Whenever I receive a call, the person on the other end never complained.
Speakers - Loud and clear enough. Even when I put phone on speaker while driving, it is just clear. Loud enough to fill my car with voice easily.
Biggest Bonus - Unlocked Bootloader. Means, this phone is now free. With lots of Devs now coming up with new ROM's, and CM7 on its way, I have heard that MiUI is also coming to Atrix in near future, it is just an amazing feeling that how much customization is available for the phone, with Devs spending days and hours, it is just truly phenomenal.
Processor - with Dual Core 1GHz processor, this phone has got the raw power to beat up the competition. I feel, phone is fast enough to give solid competition to the upcoming new android variations, upcoming iphone and so on. As someone earlier said, it is a future proof phone, not only because it has got the Dual Core processor, but because it has got Dual Core processor, even today, there are many phones which still get released with 1GHz Single Core, I think for next couple of years 1GHz Dual Core processing speed is safe from getting extinct. Also, the fact that Atrix can now be OverClocked to 1.3GHz, man you should see this phone, just totally flying with that much power.
Camera - As promised by Motorola earlier at the time of launch, with GingerBread, phone will be able to do 1080p, and yes it does it. What else would we need?
Another Bonus - Finger Print Scanner. Just unique by itself. No more words needed to explain what it is.
Last but not Least, Battery - Solid. Usually, I have always seen people be able to get around atleast a day out of the Atrix battery easily. Now with different applications available to help us save the battery, it is even easier to get more out of it.
Webtop Dock etc... - Personally I don't use any other accessories for Atrix, so no idea, but have heard they all are also similarly amazing.
If I missed out on anything, I am pretty sure, I have got something good to say about it, as long as it is related to (M)Atrix.
If you got the phone, you should be happy. If you are thinking of getting one, go for it. If you dislike it, it is your personal choice and I am sure people will respect it.
Cheers!!!
Well Guy's!! I took your suggestion (besides that one guy) and I got the Atrix! Thank you thank you!!! I love this phone already. I have the bootloader unlocked, rooted, clockwork recovery, and the Alien ROM installed. Awesome phone, thanks so much for you help. After having the iPhone and then switching to this phone, there are so many things and so many ways to customize this phone it's insane. I almost don't know where to begin. See ya out on the forums!
I wouldn't have gone with the atrix personally. I had one. Froze a lot, soft rebooted A LOT, screen was not accurate to touch and would become unresponsive at times, not to mention it was SLOW(for being a dual core tegra phone). Like others say though, its mostly personal preference. I may have also had a bad one. I've owned many androids and I personally rate the atrix worse than a poopy aria.... its on the bottom of my list. I got my nexus s now and have never been more pleased.

If I swipe then, in mid-swipe, I create a touch elsewhere on the screen, the first swipe becomes interrupted. This happens every time, all of the time.
See (not me): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rz3uWFuDkI
I downloaded "Multitouch Visualizer 2" from the market and it confirmed the issue visually/quickly/easily/unambiguously.
I would really appreciate knowing if there is a fix.
It makes multitouch apps (especially games) impossible. I think it may contribute to the gingerbread keyboard not being as accurate as it was on my Evo while typing really fast (maybe).
Running rooted stock.2.08.651.2
In case it matters: HW revision 002. Panel Type = Panel_ID_SHR_SHARP_NT
(You can check which panel you have by going into terminal emulator and typing in "dmesg". The scroll up 40 lines or so and find "panel type.")
It is subtle enough in most UIs that I thought it was just me adjusting to the new screen, so don't feel silly if you haven't noticed it--I sure didn't!
I searched several times and I did not find this posted yet.
This is the closest I could find in search, but it is NOT my issue, mine does just fine on the "fast swipe test." As long as there is only one touch going on, it appears to work 100%! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140997
Thanks!
Try this, and read the instructions when you run the apk.

Just tested with dotty, and I had that issue too.

Weird.
Type *#*#3424#*#* in phone, then run a line drawing test. See if it happens there.

It went away for a few hours then came back. I have absolutely no idea why. I had restarted it, but that is all.
When it worked, it really worked well. All 4 points tracked beautifully.
It is now having the issue again.
-The diag line test is single touch, not multi touch, so it does not help at all.
-I have no idea what that recalibrate program did, but it did not have any impact on the issue. Thanks though!
Any other ideas as to what this even could be? Anyone else having the problem?
I seem to have this issue too :/ think replacing the touchscreen will fix it?
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
Restart, and it goes away (for a while, at least). That tells me that it is more likely to be a software glitch, not a hardware issue. To me, it appears as if some multi- touch reference is not being replaced properly.
Because we only multitouch occasionally, I would bet that this could happen for a lot of users a lot of the time and it would go undetected.
NICE! The Evo only had two points. looks like Evo 3D has four points you can touch it at! hellz yeah! but it is really hard to test more than 4 points on a screen. not like I have 30 fingers .lol

It happens to me all day every day. It is the same on sense and CM and the other AOSP roms. It makes using the keyboard a chore because I usually type really fast.
Quite frustrating. But, I have confidence that if it is a software issue (hopefully), the wonderful devs here will fix it. All in due time.
I posted a YouTube video of this problem twice in this forum, and how to re-create it. I had it replaced because of the issue and the replacement had the same exact issue. I am pretty sure its a stock kernel problem, not hardware. With some of the cooked kernels, my E3d didn't have the multitouch problem.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rz3uWFuDkI&feature=youtube_gdata_player
It looks like this problem is more widespread than I originally thought.
thanks for the video. I have the hardware version 2 of the evo3d. don't have this issue as far as I can tell. the white one. love this thing. NEVER BUY THE FIRST VERSION EVER!
Hi all. Im going to buy this phone and noticed this thread. I am really warried about this issue because i had some touch issues with my HD2.
It looked like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTsvyRh3fqE&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I simply couldnt write fast on the keyboard because some taps was jumping over the keyboard:/
Is the same issue on evo 3d??? How we can recognize version??
tested on GSM Leedroid with stock kernel...no problems here.

I have the EXACT same issues as OP. Multitouch is crazy and so is typing using the GB keyboard. No fixes so far. HW 0002.
OP ??? How to check hw version??
Thanks for all the feedback, y'all.
Hardware revision is unlikely to be the culprit. On 002 here. Check it in settings-about phone-hardware info.
Mine seems to be fine 90% of the time now. Just when I think it mysteriously fixed itself, I check and it is back (this is based on checking at random times during the day.)
I really have no idea what could cause this. Movement appears to be unrelated, as is load, time used, battery charge, or specific activity. All I know is that restarting makes it better...sometimes for a minute, sometimes for hours.
Consider making a shortcut to a multitouch tester and generating some more anecdotal data. I was pleasantly surprised that it was so infrequent.
I have the same issue, across several roms. Progressively got worse over the course of a week, to the point of getting phantom taps whenever I touched a section of the phone towards the top. Recently took it to Sprint to replace the screen, restoring it completely to stock before, even turned S-ON. They replaced it and the problem went away for a few days. Now it is doing this again. Something is definitely going on.
Why dosent anyone believe me when I say its the kernel? Flash a cooked one and it will stop.
not everyone in here has time to flash every "kernel" ever to be created by some weird guy or 12 year old. lol some of us work 80 hours a week. :-D My tummy hurts. which one of your gf's or ex's or wives wanta kiss my tummy. I'm pretty darn happy with the stock kernel. I value simplicity and stability above everything else. This phone is plenty fast for how I use it.
Could you let us know what kernel has had modifications that are relevant to multitouch? My ideal kernal is stock (August update) with just this modification.
Also, keep in mind that it might take a while to evaluate whether it works. Mine was fine all yesterday but now is having the skittish multitouch issue.
Hi all, first i´d like to receive a welcome in my first post here
I´ve tried 2.3.3 official, with franco, notouch v5 and v6 (that fixes partially the problem), AGA-Rom 1.4 with franco and both notouch... same thing.
Is there no way to fully solve this annoying bug? Is this a faulty project from LG?
I have a Galaxy Mini and its multitouch works perfectly.
I´m very disappointed with it, if there´s a full fix, please let me know.
Thanks

Hi there, it's me again!
After being away for quite some time due to a lot of issues with my netbook, and being busy with school, I recently checked the progress on the Flyer. As expected, Dexter did an excellent job already on Jelly Bean.
I tried the ROM, and I gotta say I'm quite satisfied with it. FWIW, I am thinking about getting the 3.0 kernel from the DHD to run on the Flyer. But, I have another project I'm thinking about which sounds more interesting.
So, is anyone interested in Open WebOS on the HTC Flyer? I am considering to give it a try this week, but only if there is some potential interest from the community. It would pretty much be an effort where I try to combine various challenges: getting WebOS to boot, and getting the Raspberry Pi to compile Android kernels, since my netbook does a horrible job at this.
Please report if it sounds interesting for you, and if I get positive answers, I'll do some research on the structure of OWOS.
Although WebOS seems nice I'd rather see you beat the crap out of JB and try to get it fully working until you say "I can't take this any further".

I'm not sure, I actually think JB has 1 major dev working on it. Sometimes it's better to have multiple, good, mostly stable options too chose from than 1 completely perfect one.
That aside, I don't use bluetooth headset so some people who do really want the devs to pool their work into that.
I'm all for web os though. And dual boot (don't push yourself ) would be awesome.

I am using the latest JB ROM atm., and I'm wondering (since I haven't followed the development the last 2 months): what is really broken atm? Aside from bluetooth.
Mine VM with Ubunto is stil there for u if u decide to give Flyer some more of your time. Am I interested? I am interested in Flyer with as much hardware working posible; working BT for voice calls, music and movei playback. As long as those work well i dont care even if it is Win 3.11EE if it runs nice and smooth. However Geting camera and hw movie playback suport on JB would be very nice and would get the ROM to TOP level. U cracked those nuts on ICS; any way u give it a try on JB?

Slide out keyboard had very small keys and the slider mechanism was very poor. Screen was also very small compared to today's phones. The only nice thing was wireless charging. That was awesome.
WebOS ran very well on it though.
