New kernel - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys. I didn't want to interrupt the thread on where they are working on this. But if we download this kernel can we get overclock, 16 million colors, and fps cap lifted all at once just by downloading this kernel or do we have to wait still. Also what exactly comes with this kernel
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App

I think at first they make it stable and then we'll have these nice things. Can't wait.

Man me neither. There talking about making our caps 60 frames per second. Can anyone tell what they have already accomplished on this kernel
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App

There won't be a cap, if the GPU could handle it we could have 60fps+.
I think we'll get around 50fps

Very nice. Then 16 million colors and of course a nice 1.4 ghz overclock
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App

Can the CPU of the X10 can run at up to 1.4GHz?
I thought 1.3GHz would be the max, very nice to hear it can run even faster. Now I really can't wait xD

lol all these crazy new capabilities do sound fantastic and im sure the devs here are on it .. im sure there will be some kind of announcement in our forum when something concrete and complete is accomplished... and then.... party time lololol

Lol Ikr. Man I'm gonna have a blast tweaking this thing. I've been waiting to lift the caps for a long time. Guys we'll finally have the phone we were meant to have. Without Sony restrictions
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App

Very exciting yes!

But guys I just want to know. All we have to do is flash this kernel and we'll be able to get all these features from one kernel or do we have to flash more
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App

Would be nice to have this talk in the bootloader almost bypassed thread as it's very ontopic and interesting :O but I agree it will be sweet once the power of our phones are unlocked

is it worth to downgrade to 2.1 and unlock the bootloader?

is it? can anyone create a short video of whats new, how much it is smoother ect. thanks
No! If you would read you would see its not a complete kernel its nothing more than a proof of concept. Z's announcement was meant for developers to know he had accomplished the bypass and would be providing source for custom kernels. The current kernel will never be developed or supported. There is absolutely no reason for 99% of the people here to flash this kernel.

As of now, I don't think it's a good idea.
Just wait patiently for devs to do their work.
I don't think the wait will be long
Things sure changed fast in the X10 development in the last few weeks.
It's a good idea xD
It's nice and smooth...

Agreed it works. Well for daily use

Backup you're current ROM and try flashing it. I tried it on 2.1 and 2.2 but on wrong bb. For the few seconds it worked (before it restarted) i was amazed at how much more responsive it was. Back to SE kernel for now. If was on the right bb i would gladly use it as a daily rom.
Flash the right bb, it's worth it
Nah, I think I keep my 2.2 until SE releases Gingerbread.
Flash-support and JIT really makes my phone smooth even if its still locked in FPS.
But it will be really interesting to see what the devs can do with custom kernels.
I can't even think of going back to the fps capped froyo roms now. Its just so smooth. Like a new phone.

It's worth it. But hopefully it will get better with 2.3 kernels!
does camera and video recorder work on the new kernal?

its well worth it! everything is so fast and smooth espesiaclly launcher pros scrolling between homepages. i have had no problems with this custom kernal at all so i think its fir for daily use.

[Q] 1.48ghz overclock

iv seen it a couple places of people overclocking at 1.48 on the vibrant and have searched and can't find anything.. I am the bible holder and was going to add.. but nothing there.. is this a self made and non-published kernel?
if im not mistaken its a non published alpha kernel.
It's an edt alpha kernel, and both the 1.44 and 1.48 version are awesome. Once they're ready for public release, it'll be the new hottest thing. I'm getting 2500+ on quadrant, if you care about that sort of thing.
Those kernels are not available to the public.

Work well for me. The most stable oc I have ever used. Also better battery life then a 1.2 kernel.

I have not flashed Bullet 1.48Ghz(yet) but i'm currently running Bullet 1.44Ghz and its running pretty stable for me. No FC or reboots to speak of, of course my phone has always played well with OCing. My avg batt life has been around 10hrs Quadrant around 2300, of course thats on Bionix1.3.1 im gonna run it in on Malice for a few days and see what i get, that ROM has been the kindest to me in regards to batt life when OCed.
Good luck to all! If you get a chance i'd check it out, as stated its not a "public release" so if you want it ur gonna have to do a little more searching as of now its not released on XDA. Its a private release from [EinherjarDevelopmentTeam]

Give it a shot on Heathen's JPJPM ROM. Im having around 12-14 hours running this while OCing to 1.3, all that disregarding the 2400 quadrant score Im getting.
This is all on Overstock 2.2.1 btw.

They are now. This thread was made before we made the kernel public. However, they are not to be posted on xda without the teams permission.

Yes Dan, same reason I mentioned to get it from their homesite. lol
When it comes to overclocking to 1.48ghz I will not recommend it as I have tried it with so many settings on the Temp from 47 degrees to 51 and is not stable at all.
I rather recommend 1.42ghz that is very stable and working great.
I would like to try those kernels....where i can find them??

I'm using Bullet @ 1.42Ghz.
Yes, it's that good.
Note: I also have a Vibrant 4G 1650mah battery (same size as ours but 10% more juice)
Ok I am registered at EDT, been all over their site, still cannot find them. A little more help please than just saying to register. Thanks.

And again....that's the same thing that's been there for a while now. Where can we find the NEW ones referenced in the start of this thread??? 1.48 and 1.44???
The new ones are said not be stable or at least not as stable as 1.42 has been.
And they are in the donators section...
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
Ok just donated. Glad to as I love EDT roms. Seeing new things on the site that were not there before so know the donation worked. Still not seeing where these are located. And yes, went to all the places previously mentioned and even logged out and back in again. Anybody?? It should not be that difficult to find or get a straight answer.

Cf-bench

Does this make any sense? Lol
Im running alien, shouldn't it be faster?
Apparently the ATRIX is better than the phone I have (ATRIX) haha. Irony.

How you said this doesnt make sense... but are you overclocked? Or have a custom rom?
Was getting 6k on CF Bench with Faux's OC v0.19 @ 1.3GHz

This is similar to what I got with alien, build 3. For some reason the java score was always low.
I just asked Faux123 that because of a screenshot he had showing low Java scores and I had seen that all the time too. He said that was because of blur.. and as soon as I benched on cm7 then my scores came back inline.

IMO CF's benchmark app I'd by far the best on the market atm. I laugh every time I see someone using quadrant on a dual core phone...

I can't overclock past 1200 mhz

I'm running the stock ROM rooted and all. After using cynogenmod for a bit I switched back to stock and I can no longer overclock past 1200. Can someone explain or help me out.

I think we cannot over clock (OC) with stock kernel. Try Entropy's kernel or Siyah. I am using CM and Siyah and I can OC. I didn't try with stock kernel however.
Thank you. I'll try it and get back

I was able to overclock to 1.452 stock rooted with Zedomax kernel using Tergrak Overclock from Android Market... give that a try
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
Kernel bro. You need a kernel with the abilities to overclock. Stock kernel can't.
Tegrak in the market. Buy the ultimate version for oc as high as ya want + core and internal voltage tweaks.
The free version lets you oc a little & no voltage adjustments.

This may sound a bit patronizing but if you cannot over clock due to the wrong kernel and not realize it, it may be best to do more research and make sure you understand what's going on before trying to over clock.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
It does sound patronizing, but I can't blame you for trying to warn him/her. A lot of people have experience with computer OCing though, and may be new to Android.

I understand that people overclock their computers, but overclocking an android device is different since you cannot just boot into the bios, thus I encourage people to research before trying something they may be unfamiliar with. Otherwise someone will have to end up hoping their warranty/phone insurance or whatever will cover something going wrong due to overclocking.
you can only overclock with a kernel that is compatible with overclock
Do you really need to over clock? I haven't seen a reason to on this beast of a phone. Its not like the captivate was.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA App
You mean there's no option anywhere, or that setcpu won't let you?

How does this thread keep getting bigger? Problem solved in 2nd post, finished in the 4th. Lock it down, Red5.

Do you want higher overclock

So in Mackay kernel I'm thinking of adding higher over clock steps. But first I want to know how many people would want that? And how high. I'm thinking I can go up to 1.7ghz like in the gingerbread glitch kernel

I couldn't get anything stable above 1.6 and most vibrants can't even do that. But if you put it there it's the users option to push as high as they want.
Nexus⁴ PAC 360° Productions
Yeah. I'm just thinking about adding it for the people that want to and that can gin that high. Like I know I can get to 1.7 stable and I know some others can too
