[Q] Where do your apps install-sdcard or sdcard2? - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok..weird issue here. Was running Vegan 5.1.1 and all apps installed to sdcard2. Took the plunge to experimental vegan ginger edition. Everything was going great until my tablet would not boot. I had to re-partition the sdcard and so I started over. Did a format, nvflash and then flashed the ginger edition ROM again.
Now it seems all my apps install to the internal memory and titanium backup does not even show the external memory. I had to move the titanium backup folder to internal to even restore my apps. Note..sdcard2 does show in all file managers so I am not sure why it is doing this.
Just weird and wondering if something I installed this time changed where the apps install or if I did something wrong.
Any ideas?

froyo roms and gb roms use different storing methods. which is weird. someone mention theres a patch you can do and it would fix it but i dont know the link.
try re-mounting and restarting

[Q] No/ sdcard/ .android.secure found - Nandroid question

Installed Eugenes JI5 ROM. Created backup in Clockwork. Heres what happened:
backing up system
backing up data
backing up datadata
no/ sdcard/ .android.secure found
skipping backup of apps on ext. storage
backing up cache
no sd-ext found
skipping backup of sd-ext
generating md5 sum
backup complete
I assume this is just telling me its not backing up my external sd? Just want to make sure I will be able to restore this without any problems? Thanks.
That's what my backups say too. I think you are correct. Maybe thats for apps2sd which the vibrant doesn't support. That's what I always assumed.
Btw. My nandroids seem to work fine though.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I am getting that error message also. Seems to have started after I restored to a back up of my latest ROM (Nero V5).
Anyone have any other advice on this?
Same problem
i have the same problem too.. i only have had to backup things so i am not sure if this backup will work while restoring if anything goes wrong? and if it gets to restore the rom will it restore the apps that i had installed on sd card and externed sd..
i want someone to enlighten me with his experience.. Cheers!
I am having the same problem I rooted and then instal CWM did a back up and got the same MSG.

is for when you use the native app2sd function of Froyo and beyond to move your apps to the sdcard.
.androidsecure is where they go. As a side note, if you try to look at it in the ohone wth Root Explorer or ES, it will show up as empty. You have to look at it on your PC and make sure "show hidden file" is checked. Sucks that you can't see it on the phone but this has been a long time glitch and really a non-issue anyways since we have such a huge 2gb partition for apps anyways.

SD Card Issue?

Recently I can't put any apps on my SD Card. I installed a custom ROM awhile back, but it bricked. And now, when I try to install or even update an app, it says there is no space. When I go to settings and check my storage space, my SD card has all space available, but it says Application space is 0.00B.
How can I fix this?

Hmm. If you're rooted, I'm assuming, then use Titanium Backup to back up all of your apps and data, then use this link:

To odin back to stock, this will fix all of your issues, then just reflash a custom rom, preferably a newer one like Nero or Axura.

[Q] Something is using up all of my Storage Space (even after Wipe/Reset) - Help

Hi Everyone,
I have an issue with my VZW GS4. All of my storage seems to be utilized by "phantom" files. I was updating my playstore apps yesterday and I got a memory almost full error. I only have 1 GB pictures, .5 GB music, and .3 GB applications used. I know the system is using almost half of the my memory off the bat, but looking at the files above, it did not make sense that I would only have 300 MB left out of 9GB or so available to me.
My device was rooted, but was still on the VRUAMDK Kernel flashed after rooting. I had Titanium backup installed but did not actually do any backups. I had CWM manager installed and had one recovery that took up a small amount of memory, so I wasn't sure what would be taking up all my memory.
I decided I wanted to do a wipe on the phone after backing up my pics/music to see if i could wipe the memory and start clean. I wiped the device using the stock recovery app and the phone still only has 4.2GB free. I guess a wipe/factory reset does not clean EVERYTHING off the SD card. When I go into the Device Memory section in settings, it appears I have half of memory free, but it still lists 4.2GB available. I did a file usage analysis and it does not listed Could something I had done in CWM Rom Manager created some hidden files that wouldn't get wiped? Does the GS4 auto software update download to a hidden folder before being installed? The phone recently download the new ME7 firmware which I did not install yet.
Using an android file browser i've looked around the SD card system folders but I would have no idea what would be taking up so much room. Has anyone else had an issue like this? Can I wipe the non-system partition of the SD card somehow? I am just not familiar with this and I wouldn't want to mess up the OS somehow.

Looks like a CWM recovery was sitting in root/data/media. I found this solution in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274218

Unable to save to Note 3 after restoring backup rooted rom

Hey guys
On my SM-N900W8 Note 3, I've had it running a rooted stock rom.
Yesterday I decided to try out Gummy Rom....did a backup in TWRP.....I also backed up all my apps with Titanium just to be safe.. wiped data....installed Gummy Rom....it just wasn't for me.
Wiped data again......restored my stock rooted rom that I've been using this whole time........phone booted up without a problem...SUCCESS! At least I thought success....started to notice some errors with some of the apps I have...
Wasn't able to get any of my snapchats....swiftkey was giving me errors.....then I tired to save a picture and saw that it had failed....strange
I Have several gigs available on my internal and external SD card....
Opening up Titanium....I can see that all folders, internal AND external say "This folder is not writable."
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Update: I've installed SDFix, and I can now save to my external SD card.....however I still can't save to my internal memory.

Titanium Backup not seeing old backups

Hello everyone,
I'm hoping you can help me with an issue I'm having with Titanium Backup not being able to see old backups. I just reflashed stock de-odexed 5.0.1 using Flashfire. In Flashfire I set it to wipe 3rd party apps before flashing. The flash went fine and my phone went through the setup fine, and I chose not to restore all my app/setting from Google. All the TB backups were still on my SD card and I set the backup location in TB to the old directory on my SD card. But my problem is when I got to restore user apps in TB, it can't see any of the old backups in the TB directory on my SD card. Anyone else ever experience this? Did you find a way to fix it so TB could see all the old backups?
Thanks.
Eric
I'm guessing it's related to 5.0.1 not allowing access to your external SD card. Try running SD Fix, available in the app store. Be sure to reboot after you run the app. Hopefully, this will fix the problem!

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked into that, but it didn't fix anything.
I'm having this issue too, you're not alone. I recently flashed Hyperdrive RLS21 over stock rooted MJ7 and TB could not see my user apps backup on the external SD card... Very weird. I'll let you know if I come up with anything.
