Hi guys,
It's a simple question:
I scratched my X10 Mini LED Screen but i have an extended guarantee from my phone operator (where i bought the cellphone) with +1 year or whatever.
Will they change the LED Screen for free? Will they charge for it?
Another question is, my phone is all rooted and with mod (all dirty), will they accept changing the LED Screen? Or it must be stock?
Thanks everyone!
As far as them replacing it for free depends on the terms on that extended warranty.
In regards to the OS, once you root you can say goodbye to the warranty. But you can always flash a stock rom and keep it unrooted if you decide to take it to the store.

I see... but they can change the LED Screen anyway if my OS is not stock right? It's a hardware problem not a software.. can they refuse to change my LED Screen because im not using SE stock OS?
Yes they can refuse the change it.
Some companies see moddified firmware as if you physically modified the phone itself, hence a void warranty.

as per your scratched screen getting replaced, please read the terms and conditions of your extended warranty.
as far as i know, most extended warranties only cover lost/stolen devices, accidental damages and such. meaning, superficial/external damages doesn't count. if your device works, it's as good as it gets: no replacement.
see what your extended warranty covers. it will save you the hassle of going to your local service center only to find out that they won't do that for you.
Before taking it to the service center, I'd suggest you reflash with SEUS. That way, they cant complain about the custom ROM.
EDIT: It's a LCD not a LED.

It was an accidental damage, but i see your point...

First of all I admit that i have done stupid thing.
Before telling this I did HSPL to flash radio rom.
Yesterday I dropped my phone.
And from that time on vibration hadn't worked and booting phone by its own hardware buttons also, not working.
But I found booting only works by following method:
plug in charger while battery is out and then press as soon as battery is inserted again.
Now, what I committed to fix my vibrator was that i tried to disassemble and I got stuck at separating the housing with the screen one.
But I just adadoned to fix it and assembled it again.
After I booted my phone by that strange method above, the touch screen did not work.
So I pressed reset button at the back.
Now it is stuck at the first HTC logo screen. (think it is bricked?)
However It doens't show any information about R,G,D just the logo.
Many time till now the result is the same.
Now my question is...
My warranty is not over yet so I think I can get the new one.
However what interrupts my mind is that "what if they find out it is HSPL?"
But my opposing the question above is that can they see if I did HSPL or not since bootloader doesn't work, and proper powering on of the device doens't work either.
So what is you guys opinion will I be ok to get new one without being accused..?
My other concerns are that what if the boot loader suddenly works... and they find out!!?
And also what if they find out that i disassembled once.. cause the screws look touched..
lol while editting.. the phone got RGDs back although it seems it is rare, now it means there is chance for them to notice it..
You will find that your warranty does not cover accidental damage, so the shop you purchased it from probably will not replace it.
Unless you took out insurance at time of purchase that covers accidental damage.
Your best option, is to claim under your household contents insurance, but once again, check that mobile phones are covered, some policies do not, as it is an item you take out of house.
Thanks for your reply, I am really blured ,because i'm now on relatives house abroad..
Initially when i get back i will check..
unless you have insurance I cant see you being covered I hope you are though, any form of insurance with the HD2 is a must imo
HSPL + visible damage from the fall + disassembly evidence (there's a sticker on a screw that will be broken if you unscrew it, to show it's been opened) = definitely no warranty.
Even if there was any chance you could claim warranty, HSPL modification alone would void it. And unfortunately there is no way to revert unless you install a stock ROM from SD Card. I know it very well cause I just did it yesterday. Had to send mine to claim warranty as the touch screen failed...
I'm having a nightmare with Samsung UK repair centre. Could do with some advice...
I'll try to keep this short. Basically my phone has had reboot problems since I bought it back in May. It would reboot itself while sat on a desk or in my pocket (on standby). Every now and then it would get stuck in the boot animation loop and require a factory reset. It went back to Carphone warehouse once for a repair, where they flashed it and replaced the battery, but this did nothing to fix the problem, and after a few months of perseverance with the rebooting ( I couldn't bring myself to wait another 4 weeks repair time...) I had had enough and contacted Samsung direct as their repair turnaround is shorter, and it went back to them for repair. I got the phone back today and they are claiming the fault is water damage and as such the warranty is void. This is bulls##t and the phone has not been exposed to any more moisture than any phone is exposed to in general use.
They could not give any sort of detail on the water damage, but suggested that it may be discolouration on the motherboard. I recall in the first few weeks of owning the phone the phone got very hot (too hot to touch against your shin hot). Could this display similar colouration to water damage?
I seem to be banging my head against a brick wall with the repair centre call centre and Samsung customer support are not offering any resolution options. I'm loathed to write off my warranty and a £500 phone cost. So any advice would be appreciated.

what moisture do you expose your phone to in general use?
Humidity in the air (not much of that in the UK...) Kettle boiling in the kitchen. That sort of thing... The point I'm making is that it's not been exposed to moisture beyond that expected in normal use, something the phone should be resistant to.
Its probably the usual condensation fault across all makes of phone its a known warranty reject .
Water damage is shown by on-board indicators .
One Samsung have refused warranty fair enough you can proceed by writing directly to Samsung UK stating your case .Or pay for a specialist phone engineers report and if they find no water damage then go back to Samsung .

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Do you have a telecommunications ombudsmen in your country?
If so contact them and put your case forward.
I bet after they contact your carrier, retail outlet or Samsung you get a new phone.
I know a mate who got a new phone from both the carrier and the manufacturer.

Thanks, yeah we have Ofcom in the uk, and also a trading standards organisation. I May have to get them involved if I can't work something out with Samsung. The fault I have problems with has been on the phone since I got it out of the box, and certainly isn't water damage. Trouble is if there is some sort of liquid detection inside and it's changed colour, how can I prove that the phone was only subjected to normal use, and not exposed to moisture?

Its not a network problem so OFCOM is no use . The phone is not part of your network contract .
Under UK consumer law your supplier of the phone is liable for warranty .You have since been to Samsung who in law have no responsibility bar their extended warranty .
Samsung have said no its a user fault we are not responsible so its up to you to prove them wrong .
Trading standards will have experience of the water damage issue and may be of help .

I'm having some issues with my phone today guys. I went to sleep with my phone on charge (like I have done every single night since I've had the phone), and when I woke up my phone was ridiculously hot. That hot that I couldn't even hold it in my hand. My old HD2 got hot, but nothing like this.
I'm afraid some of the internals have fried or something. I'm on an NDT MIUI ROM. I think it's version 4.X.X or something. But basically now, my phone will not charge a single bit. It'll go to the battery empty screen, then to the Galaxy S II screen, turn on, show my notifications then after every notification has shown, it goes back off. While plugged in.
What's the problem and what can I do to rectify it? A new battery?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Now it's just looping between the no battery (empty battery with circle) and the Galaxy S II screen.
I was getting to the lockscreen a while ago.
That was over the wall charger, I'm now trying to charge it off my laptop if that matters.
Bump. I don't really want to have an expensive plastic paperweight for very long.
Does the battery look fattened?..try changing batteries,if that didn't work then I'm afraid you have to take it to Samsung..

I don't quite understand what you mean by 'fattened'. If you mean bigger, then no it still fits quite comfortably into the phone. I'm going to try get a hold of another battery later and I'll give it a go. If I do end up having to send it to Samsung, what will they do knowing it has a custom ROM on it? My flash counter is only 2, but I wouldn't even be able to get into the bootloader, as I don't have enough battery to do so.
Luck of the draw basically if you can't reflash stock firmware/jig it.
Some people on here have reported Samsung/whomever has repaired it has played hardball & not repaired it under warranty (which they're entitled to do, which means you pay for it), and some people have reported they've had it fixed under warranty regardless.
At the end of the day, running non-stock firmware voids your warranty (regardless of whether some people on here think that's wrong, etc), and if you can't return the phone to stock firmware and you do get it fixed under warranty you can consider yourself lucky.

OK cheers for that. I unlocked it using some app also, will that have any effect?
I'm really hoping I don't have to go down that route and that a new battery will have it back up and running again. I just feel like it's struggling to keep power to it or something, when on the battery screen, the screen slightly flickers if you look closely, and on the boot anim. the capacitive buttons struggle for light while the screen is as good as it always was.
Also, it's just saying "LOW BATTERY !! CAN'T DOWNLOAD !!" when I try get into the bootloader/download mode w/e it's called so I guess there's hope it's only the battery?
Good news! I went to a phone shop, tried a cheap Chinese battery and it seemed to turn on and load everything just fine. Another shop I tried had an original OEM (well atleast an OEM sticker) battery and that wouldn't work. It's weird! Let's hope my battery can last a suitable amount of time on the Chinese battery. Any recommendations on where I could find an official battery? Looked on Amazon, and some of the reviews are claiming that it's actually just a cheap battery with a Samsung sticker.
Hi there fello archos fans... I have a problem with my 10 1 G9 Turbo (250gb hdd version)
Basically, I have recently installed SDE (using the old unofficial method) as SDE from Archos it would not apply kept throwing up an error.
I then Installed the pre rooted 4.0.26 firmware. I don't believe this is the problem as its random, but, when I am watching a film or netflix or even just in the menu, half the screen will go black. It is the right hand side as you look at it. If I give it a gentle flex or twist it goes to colored lines vertically over the half that was black though this was discovered by chance.
If I press the power off button to sleep the screen 20% of the time it come back White on the left hand side, 40% vertical color bars and the other 40% black screen. The touch screen is still responsive as I can unlock it by sliding to unlock and it goes to launcher but I can't see the other side.
I have a couple of times gently manipulated the device to get the screen back to normal by gently flexing the device. There has been do physical damage to the unit and it is only about 8-9 months old. What should I do?
I know installing SDE invalidates the warranty but I was under the impression that it was only the software warranty not he hardware warranty?
As I used the old method I thought that it was reversible and did not watermark the device?
Should I try to get it fixed/replaced or get a Nexus 7 (all I can afford at this current time)?
Has anyone seen/had this problem before??
Thanks for taking time to read this
I would remove the sde and make sure this issue happens on stock too. As it sounds to be hardware fault, it will propably happen in stock too. Just contact Archos and ask them if warranty covers this issue and how to send tablet to them.

Sorry for the late reply but I have still got the tablet, the vendor I bought from says Archos has the responsibility to replace or repair and Archos say it lands with the vendor.
It would seem like it is a problem that is covered by warranty but no one wants to sort it out and its fast approaching the end of the warranty, surly this is a delaying tactic to run it out of warranty and then have to do nothing. I will never buy Archos again.

Take the tablet to the vendor and say the Archos instructed you to take the tablet to them. As far as I know it is up to them to send the tablet to archos for repair. Do you know if there are any laws which might help you in your country?

So i did a bunch of searching and can't find anything so i'll ask here. The other day i got pushed into a pool with my One in my pocket, From what i can tell the processor's fried and i was wondering if i could get away with just going down to T-Mobile and asking them to switch it cuz it wont turn on and not bring up the water damage. Is there any way they'd be able to tell?
Ummm if your within your 30 days or 14 or whatever it is you could try just say it won't turn on... They have to replace in store if its within their time frame for in-store warranty .
As long as water doesnt pour out on counter you may have a chance ,since they can't do a battery pull how else will they know... Just act real let down say u paid a lot of money to be let down ...
Act but don't over act.
Normally sales people are clueless and don't care what's what , as long as your within the rules... time frame.
They aren't techs, so doubt theyll know .
If it doesn't turn on a dead cpu should pass as the issue only issue is if it's past the 30 ,then htc gets it for manufacture replacement and they on the other hand will know .

Throw it in a tub of uncooked rice overnight to absorb as much water as possible before bringing it in.
There is a papertrail with taking it back in your 14/30 day warranty. Eventually the device will get back to a service center and when they open the unit up and see the damage im sure the ticket with it will say warranty / no power. Any good tech will throw up the red flag and say the warranty is void with liquid damage.
So you do run the risk of having that come back to haunt you a month or two down the road.
I'm not sure if they'll find out down the road Dec possible but not guaranteed ,even if your past 14 you don't have to go thru HTC you still have tmobile warranty u dud a swap not for water but they'll ship a new one overnight then u mail yours back ,last yr I returned a rooted bricked note2 and never got charged

This is correct.
I work in the RMA department of a large phone repair/warranty center.
I doubt you will get T-Mobile rep to replace it for you in the first place (there are still ways to check for water damage without opening it up). Liquid indicators are inside the phone when you eject the SIM tray for example.
