How to get good battery life on AOSP? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am currently running on JT's cyanogen mod and EC01 radio and Imnuts -100 kernel.. My battery life is Horrible. Anyway I can improve battery life? And I cannot do it from terminal because I don't have anything in my data folder.

Calibrate your battery, turn down screen brightness, CAREFULLY configure Autokiller, use SetCPU on conservative, try a different launcher (i.e. Launcher Pro or Helix Launcher), don't use live wallpapers... just a few of many things.

Battery use for vibrant

I am currently running bionix 1.3.1 with kernel 2.6.32.9 (red edition theme too) and killed my battery in half a day. I have set cpu app and was wondering if anyone can help me tweak things a little to get better battery usage?

Hmmm, The Axura, EDT and Trigger roms have excellent battery. Are you overclocking ? 'cause if you are that will burn up battery and there is no fix or adjust for that, other than just running @ normal speed. Read the Bible for fixes and adjustments for the battery
If you're gonna burn battery that fast you might as well flash Gingerbread which is better.
I was actually looking for a gingerbread rom to flash but couldn't find one. I don't really want to use this much battery so fast but think its the team whiskey dragon rom edition kernel that I think is the problem.. it allows me to overclock which of course kills my battery. I was just looking for some tips to conserve battery. I set my setcpu settings to conservative and am going to see what it does. Should of stuck with my nexus-s or even nexus-1 but got two free phones and a fly rod out of deal than just a phone lol...

[Q] Custom Kernals

So i'm running Das Bamf 1.4 ROM with Adrynalyne's 4.3a kernal ADW launcher blah blah blah.
Problem is I've read through the comments for the kernals and the rom and it seems like everyone is getting greatly improved battery life. But with me I can only get maybe 5-8 hours with light/moderate use. In the past 5 min I've dropped 2% just looking through the checking the time and changing some settings.
I did a full wipe when I flashed them.. and since i'm running 4.3a (stock speed) i'm not using setcpu or anything. Am i missing something?
Are you using SetCPU? If so, what are the configurations for it?
No I'm not running Setcpu. I'm not trying to OC and the kernal i'm using is designed for stock speeds.
ok so turned off my 4g radio... and now i'm getting a lot better battery life. i feel like i was getting better battery life with my stock kernal (when i have my 4g on). but with 3g only my batter is outstanding so far.
You can still use setCPU without overclocking. I'm using an oc/uv kernel but I set my max speed to 1ghz. I set up profiles to decrease the max speed as my battery decreases. I also use a profile that sets my max speed at 348 when the screen is off. I get anywhere from 16 to 24 hours battery life on 3g depending on my usage.

which rom has best battery life?

Hi there
i have my galaxy for a few wekks now and i find battery on CM9 RC2 pretty bad (underclocked and undervolted)
which rom is recommended for good battery life (and works with siyah kernel)
GPS/WIFI/MOBILE DATA/CAMERA must be working !!
thanks for your suggestions
I was using xwlpo stock, only rooted. Undervolted -25 and set cpu to 800 mhz. The governor was ondemand. The formula of amazing battery life. Now i use jelly bean which wastes battery.

No two people will ever have the exact same setup, and even if they miraculously did, the likelihood of their two phones coming out of the factory exactly the same is infinitesimal.
So a ROM that someone else experiences good battery life with, may be terrible for you or me.

Try rootbox with dm kernel. It has pretty good battery, but like previously said every user is different and therefore will have different battery life. It would not surpise me if this gets closed very quickly.

[Q] Best ROM for battery?

I haven't been using stock ROMs for a while, and am now currently on AOKP JB, which is awesome. But I've recently had the need to be out of the house for an extended period of time, and i really need a ROM with good battery life.
So quick question, which GSM (or CDMA with GSM-patch) ROM gives the best battery life? I'm more inclined to think stock, and I've read that 676.226.3.en.EU gives really decent battery life. Or is there a better alternative?

Ive been using the simplex rom it has overclock and underclock scripts built in I have been on it for a few days and got 5hrs of screen on and 19hrs of power overclocked with 25% battery still left. Currently I am running underclocked to 1.0 GHZ to see how long Battery will last and sitting at 13hrs on battery and 4.5hrs screen on time and have 44% battery I think I'm doing well!!! No bugs yet either!!
SimpleX is for CDMA right? My bad, I should have specified that I was using a GSM phone.

i'm using magicmod rom, coupled with tasker to turn on 3g only when using data intensive apps like browser, youtube etc.. the rest of the time i have data enabled but 2g, and the battery only goes down about 2-3% a night, that's about 2-3% for 8 hours..

AOKP MR1 Milestone 1 battery life

I have a i9300 and I really like this ROM, has everything i need except one thing: My battery is going out pretty quickly compared to previous ROMs i used (Foxhound for example).
I want to keep using it, so is there a good way to get better battery life? I'm using the default kernel that comes with the install because I dont know which ones would work with this ROM.
Any sugestions guys?
Thanks!

You can try to flash a Kernel that supports underclocking and undervolting of your CPU like the Temasek Kernel. Also keep an eye on what causes the massive battery drain. You can install a CPU monitoring app to see what`s using your CPU the most.
Also what do you mean by battery drain? Do you make it through the day?

Thanks for the reply!
It's not really a drain, but I barely get through the day.. while with the same use i would end my day with 40% with foxhound.
In the normal battery control it says its 40% android use..
