Ok I need help, this is my first time goin on a cruise with an at&t device(last time was with t-mobile) does anybody have advice as far as using the device outside of the country, cause at times ima wanna text friends, check facebook, and maybe get a few useful apps from the market. When I was with tmobile I was using my phone on the boat and didnt have any extra charges, I used tethering(which was free since I was rooted) cause wifi wasn't free(sucks!), but idk about at&t, can anybody let me kno if I should use my phone or not

I was just wondering since I got this phone on craigslist for my mytouch slide could I get a replacement just in case because right now there's nothing wrong im saying just in case and I logged into my tmobile account on the site and registers me under a samsung vibrant!

Probably not. They probably have ur imei number under previous owners name.
I know a way that might work though
Call t-mobile and tell them u didn't receive update and want to see if your imei is in their system. If they don't tell them to put it for you. If they have under different owner tell them what is going on and that u bought it off t-mobile store lol... I did that for mytoucb 4g and got a replacement.. but I sold it anyway and got vibrant... vibrant is the best .
If what I posted is against the rule let me know ill delete it.

Has anyone used the photon in Mexico? If so .. what provider do you recommend for pre paid sim usage with full data? Going to a wedding and need full capabilities of my phone.

as a fail safe, you can use Sprint International with their rates if it's that important. I never used sprint outside the country. unlock, root, and swap SIM with VodoPhome and see. like $30.00 at most airports I have been.

Try movistar or telcel. Im pretty sure there the big boys over there. My grandpa just came from Mexico to the states and is using a T-Mobile phone with movistar. Idk that helps but good luck with them ladies.

There's an user here that has a Photon working with Telcel.
I msgd him a couple of times to ask how good it works and seems to work just fine. What he really couldn't tell me is what needs to be done after you insert the sim card, if the settings are picked up automatically or manually..
I'm going to try myself since I will be going on vacation in a couple of months or so.
I used my Photon in Mexico without any issues. I purchased a pre paid TelCel sim card, and it worked without having to do anything. If you want to use their data, you will need to manually add on TelCel's apns. I recommend downloading apn global from the marketplace for free. You just choose your country and provider, and it fills in all the needed info automatically.
Thanks for the heads up... i have downloaded the apn app and will check into telcel when i get there ... by any chance would you know how much i would be spending on a pre paid sim in Mexico?

Humm I search for APN GLOBAL and I can't see it.. any chance you can drop a link?
When I went to Mexico last September I just activated international roaming in case of an emergency and used groove ip while I was at the resort which was almost all the time I was there.

The question is I bought a sg3 phone for $400 on a market here in my country. But when I activated it with the same carrier the phone is from. It appears that the phone have been reported stolen and also the phone is unlocked for any gsm carrier. My question is since I will not be able to use it on at&t which is it original carrier will I be able to use it on t mobile network since its diferrent and they use a different network?

It looks like it is. But the person sold it to me for $400 and he said it was new and he was the only owner. I just want to know if it will work unlocked on other network provider like t mobile.

Although I agree that's totally the right thing to do SOME people need a phone and Some can't just eat $400!!!! He didn't know when he bought it. He should be getting the person he got it from in trouble!!!!!!! Return it if you are not dirt poor or you don't NEED a phone. Do all u can to right this wrong Cuz your involved now.just my tiny opinion

Well , since you cant afford a new phone then just root it and unlock it .. But the right thing to do is returning it back and report the guys number to the police , good luck.

It is allready unlocked. Will I still need to root it? (Also looks like the guy is being tracked down by police since I'm not the first person he fooled.) I'm very angry of this situation since I didnt spent $100 or $200 bucks, I spent $400 that is much money to throw it like in the thrash.

I can feel the pain , bought a stolen phone before xD Your device ID or IMEI is reported as stolen , so you cant register on that carrier ... Maybe try another carrier ? Atleast thats what worked for me

What I know is that the phone is original from At&t and its reported there. So I will be able to use it with T-Mobile instead right? since the phone is unlocked.

Have a look at this from T-Mobile, AT&T were already doing it, IMIE blocking blocks the phone across all network in that country, you could probably use it abroad normally as its not on a US network but using in the US unlikely

Yes but you get the far bigger problem of illegal imei changing which can get you intr real deep trouble.
Also, imei cannot be changed easily, only transplanted.
Note that most "stolen" devices are not stolen per se (they often come in original boxes) but are insurance claims.

Hello everyone I was wondering if anyone can answer this question for me. I have a sprint note 3 & I want to take it with me on vacation with me overseas to London. The thing is sprint told me they would not unlock it for unless I have been a customer for 90 days. Is there any other way I can get the phone unlocked? I really wanted to have my phone for the gps and Google maps. I hope someone can help me I really appreciate it.

Even if you get Sprint to unlock the phone, which they should, using the phone with another sim will not work currently without some hacking. The phone part might work but you need to modify some files for the data to work. I just went through this in Barbados and Spain. I got it working but when I got back I had to restore everything I did to get to phone working on sprint again. The phone needs the software fixed by Sprint. To unlock the phone try the international Sprint web chat.

I dont need it all the time but there are those few occasions where it pisses me off when my gsm buddies are on the phone with me and i tell them im gunna look something up real quick and realize i cant while i am on the call. There are a few times when it would have really came in handy
