Hi,
I have read conflicting info on the status of the volume issue on the X10.
I have a X10 - now running Free X10 2.2 Beta 3 (LOVE IT!).. but the in call volume (and speakerphone) is still atrocious. I'm not after a debate as to whether you have the same problems or not, many people clearly have this problem.. for me it is so bad that I can generally not hear a phone call unless I am indoors and in a very quiet location..
Does anyone know;
a) Is Sony Ericsson actually working on a fix .. or are they just ignoring this. Xperia-x10 quoted last august that SE are working on it.. but it seems a long time for no fix to arrive
b) is this possible to be fixed in a custom ROM.. or is it impossible until the bootloader is cracked.
I have Poweramp, so I can sort of boost the volume when playing music, but honestly this could easily be 20 - 50% louder and then it would be similar to most other phones.
Anyone with anything helpful.. I would be most appreciative.
CheerS!

I have read that the problem can't be fixed unless the bootloader is hacked, or Sony actually come out with a fix.
Can anyone confirm this. I have read through 300 pages of posts on Free X10 Beta 2 /3 , and there is NO mention of a volume fix in the works.

No problem bro.
hate to say it but I suspect it's hardware limited - I don't think that the earpiece speaker that they've put in (most, if not all of the units) isn't really upto the job - mines better since the 2.1 update, but I still have to have it on full volume.. when I use a headset though, it's fine... in fact I have to turn the volume down a bit.
I had my hearing tested for work, I heard near 0 decibels, I've used the dog whistle app and according to that I can hear 18Khrtz.
It's not "us", It's the phone.
I'm dying to get this solved. My X10 lives in a drawer and I have since gotten a BlacBerry torch ( Which by the way is the most boiled pop-tart of a phone) and the sound is much better.
I still bring it to restaurants and play Angry Birds on it

Yeah, the retry logic in the i2c driver is there because the touchscreen and display wakeup can block the bus. This could be the reason why my N1 (which is AMOLED) never has the problem. Hmmmmmm, maybe a locking issue in LCDC suspend/resume? Maybe you just found the correlation, I hope

I'm on 5.12 with an amoled att nexus and I've had one wonk. Do you guys think I should flash 5.08 over... I remember when the original korean came out and it had rumours of faster data transfer and clearer calls. Wouldn't the latest be the greatest... thought someone would educate me on the subject

I have gone back and forth between Korean and non. I have T-Mob version. I would NOT flash. I would fastboot img files. Much much safer wrt to radio upgradeing or down.

+1 on that. The radio is the only thing I won't flash. Fastboot will either write correctly or fail to write, either way it is the safest way. Although, I haven't read of anyone here is a looooong time bricking their device by flashing radios

I have amoled and 5.08 and I have been getting wonks.
Can we get back to the topic?
Is this kernel working or not??
Using 5.08 radio on T-Mobile US with amoled nexus and have never had any wonk with any of the gingerbread builds regardless of kernel. I don't use phone more than a couple of times a day for calls but never once experienced any problem. Thanks though to superatmel for some great investigative work and an awesome rom!
Amoled, 5.08 radio, zero wonk on any kernel, on any cm7 build.

It seems to be working for me since I flashed it yesterday. Up till now no wonk. Total of maybe 15 calls in and out
Also just noticed a new kernel commited this morning for passion.
As of now still no wonks here! Latest radio and HBOOT..
But didn't call that much!
How can i check if i have amoled or not?
So is it really true that android can't do such a simple thing? even my old symbian dumb-phone can do that! LOL. seriously wtf man? It's seriously needed when recording stuff!
well i can live with this, but it was a bit wtf moment when i realized it

I know I am in the wrong forum and not too sure if it would of changed from the SGS1 captivate to the SGS2 but even when I was on stock or custom roms I was always able to pause the video recorder and restart it. I just would hit the record button on screen to records, then hit the record button to pause it. Then hit the record to continue recording. If you hit the stop button it will not continue.

I'm not sure why we can't do it on our phones, but the Samsung Infuse can do it. So its not a limitation of Android, its Samsung's decision not to allow us this feature.

We get a dedicated pause button on our camera. Samsung doesn't love you.
But no seriously, why would they have that in every gs1 phone variant, but not the gsii?
Are you holding it the wrong way?

Well, because I want to have the possibility to choice of recording in a big 1 file (with pause buttom) or in multiples files.
Pause button since my W810i, N96, N97, N8 and N900.
Very strange indeed, that they removed this feature.
I don't find this as a big problem cause it's fast and easy to put several together using "Video maker".
My friends laughed out on me when GS2 couldn't do a simple job as this when their Nokia phones could Hope GS2 had the pause feature.

Symbian isn't as dumb as you say. Might be a disaster commercially all right though ...
Good question actually makes a refreshing change to see a valid question on here as opposed to "can i root" what is the best ROm for battery life" and other such nonsense that is duplicated on here on a daily basis!!
This isn't something ive ever thought of and if i was recording something chances are i wouldn't be pausing, however knowing you have the option to do this would be very good indeed and i too am puzzled why this option is not available on the SGSII?
maybe it's something some devs could look into?

Then we can see some pausing action in my GS2! Gonna do a matrix kind video with it Good luck!
I just shot a video of my son playing there and there is no definitely no option to pause the video, surely some dev can come up with some hack here?
Anybody found a solution or an alternative video recorder ?
I'm gonna check camera apk and see what can be done.

I was looking the cyanogenmod of the 4.0 ice cream sandwich but I wanted to know if its full working and stable, cuz I think that what I'm looking is what is call CM9 but they are releasing Nightly versions every day.
Cuz ICS is officialy released for our S2 but dunno if Cyanogen could already have it done...
If you can live with http://teamhacksung.org/wiki/index.php/CyanogenMod9:GT-I9100:Nightly:Known_issues then yes, it is.

Sort of... pitch and roll are aeronautical terms. (See here) If you have the phone flat, home button would roughly correspond to the tail of an airplane. Roll is rotating the phone on the lengthwise axis, pitch is rotating the phone on the horizontal axis. There's a picture that illustrates it in the Wikipedia article I linked.
My OG Epic 4g kicked the bucket. I loved voodoo sound on my phone. Does voodoo sound work with the GS3 yet? I know it has the same codec. Did a quick search on the subject and didnt find anything,
Its not working yet on the i9300 but the dev who makes it stated its coming to the i9300 so I'm sure it will soon to u guys not 100% though

supercurio has no us variant to test with yet. the international uses a completely different DAC (wolfson) so its like a different phone in terms of voodoo sound. It requires completely separate legwork. He's curious about the us version but is not working on it and hasn't even heard audio through it yet so don't get your hopes up. I desperately want it too, just trying to be realistic.
The US sgs3 doesn't have the wolfson audio chip that the International version and all other voodoo devices use so it is unlikely that we will get voodoo sound. It is possible that supercurio does some other sort of sound enhancement like his voodoo louder he made for non wolfson devices. We'll see what happens after he gets it working on the international s3.
I thought it was confirmed a few days ago that the US variants DO have Wolfson DAC?
Anyways, OP try Awesome Beats mod in the Mods section. Not exactly the same but it should keep you satisfied until we figure out whats going on with Voodoo Sound

I think another way to word it would be the same quality. So it's still a great DAC, just not Wolfson
