First of all i`m not a developer i`m a simple user of a HTC HD2 and i need your help guys cuz i`m in panic!!!!!!!!!
The story sounds like this, i installed Android on my phone, then it gave me errors cuz of the old radio. Then i decided to upgrade the radio to 2.15, and i decided to flash back my wm 6,5 to be able to sync it with windows 7 and make the radio update and i downloaded the img from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=681317, i started the loading process and it suddenly stopped saying some errors appeared, not when i start it writes "Software update failed, please try again" red green blue white...
I`m in panic, what should i do!?!!
You have not bricked your HD2, and seeing as you have not posted back here in a several hours you may have solved your problem.
Just go to htc.com and enter the serial number of your HD2 and download the ROM from there then fllash it either by SD or RUU (USB).

let me tell you the whole thing.
first i had windows 6.5 on my htc hd2 t mobile .
i shifted to android 2.2 through the instructions available at xda forums.then i wanted it to convert to android 2.3 but i couldn't find any way so i planned to downgrade to windows 6.5 n then to android 2.3.
i followed the above old link that i mention in the first post to downgrade to windows 6.5 but wen i loaded the boot-loader it said update rom error.since then i only see the colored screen.i tried many roms but all say the same thing that rom file corrupted.but if i use different leoimg.nbh extracted from the stock rom ,the installation process doesn't starts and keeps on stuck at the o% level
help me out plzz
Re apply hspl which has probably gone, then flash rom over USB.
When I flashed 1.72 trying to restore stock, (yes correct rom) I got software update failed until I used hspl.exe to change spl to 1.xx from 2.08.hspl, dunno why it wouldn't take, but it wouldn't until I changed spl.
ignore this comment if you have a tmous, don't try installing 1.xx spl on a tmous.

run your rom flash from sd. <--- MUST be the correct stock rom for your phone and carrier, not just any stock rom.

i had the HSPL 1.42. and according to the steps posted there, i install the 2.08 HSPL version on my mobile...i tried to install the
RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship
and it is not working.....so i put it back to HSPL 1.42......... now its not installing the ROM....

Flash to HSPL, and flash a Custom ROM and see if it works.

Go HERE, first post, first link. pick a folder for version you want, for example the 1.66 folder for a 1.66 version rom. Grab one that says HTC WWE
That would be the stock HTC unbranded rom.
Try flashing that, see what happens.

Grab THIS one (1.66 HTC WWE) and flash it using usb.
Meanwhile, do you know what your original rom was? Was your phone provider locked? (Meaning do you need an o2 rom, or a t mobile rom, or whatever)
mine was in russian....i bought in ukraine while i was studying there..... thats why i said allmy money went in the phone...lol
so i was using it in russian.. then i installed the 1.48...WWE from tom codon....was working out fine except that the programs i wanted to install werent working..not even skype( old version i read some post that skype works on hd2)..
so i looked for another ROM got the 1.43 WWE.. didnt workfine gets restarted again and again....then has been like that...the heating up of the mobile + its restarting....

any way the 1.66 rom got stuck on 8%....what does that mean coz the other roms also did the same? ( coz before when i first installed the WWE 1.48 version, there was no problem)
ill try the russian ROM and tell you..
any version hspl will work, (or at least it will in normal circumstances)
yours seems to be a complicated problem, not the usual flashing problems, and all i can suggest is that if the russian rom doesn't work over usb, you can try it from sd card, which "should" completely reset the rom, radio and spl back to stock.

Well none worked.....at first the 1.66 ROM was up to 100% and it finished installing...but when it rebooted, the phone remained on the white screen.... the russian stuck on 8%...
i was doing through the sd card but the phone got turn off and now the phone is not even charging itself ...its not turning back on.............

Like the title says, im just stuck at bootloader and instead of booting to the white screen it just stays on bootloader and says "SERIAL".
Ive googled, youtubed, and searched here, and many have the same problem, but i have yet to seen a solution to this.
I have tried android and many custom roms, and now im back on original ROM and everything works great. BUT i have HSPL in my phone and i dont want it for now.
It is a very easy procedure in the guides and should not be a problem, but please how can i get my LEOIMG.nbh to boot from my memorycard?
It is formated FAT32, and i have tried redownload the stock rom and unpacked it with winrar several times, but the result is always the same.
Is there some way to go around this? I Just wanna boot from the memorycard and restore my phone.
FYI, the restore is just for warranty issues.. I just want to be able to go back just to be on the safe side..
Then after that i can try the cooked roms all days

What size is the microSD card? As there has been reports of problems flashing from 16GB cards.
While in bootloader mode, you can plug in the microUSB and the 'Serial' should be replaced by 'USB'. This means that you can run the flashing from the computer (just ignore the requirement for ActiveSync).

But how do i uninstall HSPL from my PC in usbmode? Use customRUU and place LEOIMG.nbh in that folder?

I have alreade flashed with original rom from PC when my phone was online. But then the HSPL did not go away even though my original rom was installed.

when i try to update it stops at 4% tried to flash other energy roms with the same issue. don't know what todo to get past 4%

use the hspl.exe program to remove hspl just like you used it to apply it. just choose a stock spl instead of the hspl.
example, regular hd2, wants to go back to o2 stock everything.
run hspl2, choose 1.66.0000
run the o2 1.72.exe rom over usb.
all done.
if the rom doesn't flash its not the correct stock rom.

At first i used HSPL 3 to install 2.08.0000 HSPL.
But if i run that file again i only have the choice 2.08.0000.
I downloaded a previous version of HSPL, and there i could choose SPL 1.42.0000 wich was my original SPL version before the flash.
Is this a correct way to do this?
I am asking again because even though i now am at the original ROM and Original SPL version the Radio and Protokoll-version differs from the versions when i bought the telephone.
radio and protocol doesn't matter. yes you've done it right. so long as its a stock rom and the spl ends 0000 then it's fine.

Then everything is ok now and i am very happy for that, so thanks for all answers!
I can also add that i took my original SD-card (2GB) and put the LEOIMG.nbh on it.
The bootsequence then started ok when holding down volumebutton and power on.
But the result was exactly the same as it was when flashing to stock SPL with HSPL2 utility.
So the booting-problem was memorycard related.. So it seems that even some 8 gb memorymodules have problems.
Just thought you should know.

At the moment i have SSPL.
I want to install HSPL3 - 2.08
but i cant unstall the sspl.
when i try to install hspl, i get error, BAD SPL VERSION
to install my sspl i used the folowing steps :
1. Remove SD (and remove Application Data and Program Files folders from it using SD card reader)
2. Remove HSPL with HSPL2_RUN.exe (flash SPL 1.66.0000 with HSPL2_RUN.exe)
3. PowerOff the phone
4. Boot to bootloader (VolDown+PowerOn) and when it shows "USB" flash stock ROM by running matching RUU_Leo_S_HTC_XXX_3.14.XXX_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15 .50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe (get yours HERE or for Orange UK/FR HERE)
5. Hard Reset (when phone starts booting after step 4, remove the battery, insert it back press VolUp+VolDown and still holding both press PowerOn and follow the instructions)
6. Boot to homescreen.
7. Run SSPL_RUU.exe with Artemis v40 RUU_Signed_0409.nbh in the same folder - YOU HAVE TO BE ON HOME SCREEN, NOT BOOTLOADER (this took me 3 tries until succeded - yes - nerve wrecking, but works). If it doesn't work (hangs on black screen for more than 2min or stays at 0%) remove the battery and try again. If still doesn't work - try solutions in NOTE below.
8. Hard reset (instructions in step 5)
9. when on homescreen - softreset.
10. Insert SD

You have 'spl - secondary program loader' - stock spl.
If you followed those steps you now have spl 3.03 and so hspl will not work. You must downgrade your phone to an earlier rom/spl version. 1.66 for example. USB will be fine so long as its your correct stock rom, , any version except 3.14.

From the .exe file it boots to the tri color screen and then reaches the progress bar screen. However it sticks there and the errors out with a code : 294.
Through the SD method after the phone detects the .nbh file it comes back with a "28002 : Not allow" error message.
Have tried this with varoius types of Mem cards but no luck.
I then tried SSPL with 1.66 as the ROM and i got it to flash the ROM with no problems but the HSPL still sticks at 3.03. And thats expected since SSPL is like a one shot go at flashing a ROM different from your region.
Question : Since this isnt working, will a task 29 help in this case? From what I understand it formats the filesystem that holds the OS. By doing so, will I then be able to flash one of the older Roms so I can install HSPL 2.08?

i had similar issues, i used task29 that contains blank .nbh. you must have hspl 2.08 first to run this then install any custom ROM through PC or your branded ROM through SD card it should work or install Android then. i hope this helps.

Is your phone branded (T-Mobile, Vodafone, O2, Orange, etc) and to what country?
If you are using a T-Mobile USA HD2, then you may try and flash the 2.08 TMOUS ROM.

If you can find the previous stock ROM than yes. But it's a hard one to find (Orange UK)

Mate, do you want to upgrade or downgrade? You're statement is confusing
what do you mean "locked"?
As long as you flash the CORRECT STOCK ROM, you can upgrade or downgrade.
What you have to do first is find the CORRECT STOCK ROM".
you can't try all countries version, it is dangerous.
Go to htc website and select the country where your hd2 come from, and download the stock rom using your SN.
If you can't find the CORRECT STOCK ROM, the only alternative is using gold card method.

I think you haven't found th CORRECT STOCK ROM, that is why "not allow"
Gold card is a method to enable you to flash stock rom from other country (it is useful in a situation where you can't find the CORRECT STOCK ROM.
There is a thread for gold card, just using search button to find it out

Is it branded phone (telstra, Tmobile, orange, etc)? if yes, you should go to their website instead of htc website.
However, if you still fails, then the only alternative is using gold card method.
I never experience for this though I read it many times, so I would suggest you to search the forum. There is a thread title [GOLD CARD], just use search button.

Install the old 1.72 etc ROM through SD card and it will replace the SPL then you can put HSPL 2.08 for your desired Custom ROM. I hope this helps.?
Yup its simple go to shippedroms.com ... get ur stock rom... flash it... and ya then flash the hspl and radio

Task 29 will not work with SPL 3.03.
You need to go to HTC's website and use your phone's serial number to download an older version of the ROM - you will only be allowed to download ROMs which are allowed for your phone. You cannot download a HTC stock ROM if your phone is restricted to a branded (phone operator's) ROM. You should be able to get a 1.66 or 1.72 or 2.08 or 2.10 ROM (dependant upon branding and country).
Put the phone into BootLoader mode, then connect to your computer and run the downloaded file.

download old original rom like 1.48.479.1_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship
flash it via activesync/ win mobile center(win7)
it will downgrade 3.03.0000 to spl 1.42.0000

lol, nice timing, its already solved. HSPL4 was released a few days ago, see link in my sig. Works with spl 3.03.0000

I just received my device back from repair, worried about the 3.03.0000
Awesome i don't have to worry about that anymore
My HD2 needs to go in for repair so I need to remove HSPL and flash a stock WinMo ROM ready for monday when it is getting collected.
I have followed the instructions here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623402 but the screen does not go grey, there is a very quick flash then it returns to the multicoloured screen and pressing the power button does nothing
Would someone be kind enough to enlighten me here as I have to sort this before Monday.

the quick flash is the bootloader looking for a valid file, and usually means one of a few things..
1 - the file isn't correctly named leoimg.nbh
2 - you simply renamed the htc_wwe_blahblah_.exe to leoimg.nbh instead of extracting ruu_signed.nbh and renaming THAT.
3 - you are using an sd card bigger than 4gb (not always the case, but most times bigger cards fail)
4 - the card is formatted FAT16 instead of FAT32
5 - hspl isn't installed after all and the ROM is not a match for the phones ROM/region lock. (what does the spl line say in bootloader?)
try those, see if it resolves it.

go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433 and on the 4th post there is a zip at the bottom download unzip and run and just choose the non hspl
what hspl are you running?
Ok tried again and the bootloader screen looks like this
thats the right on but the last line about the touch is different i have 50 instead of 40
Any reason why it would be different?
Wanna make sure its dont right, dont want em sending it back and telling me I have hacked it
That's only a valid spl if you have a tmous,,,, if you have a regular hd2 then any spl starting 2 is wrong. Only tmous roms use 2.x spls.
Its a UK O2 phone mate, what have I done wrong then?

Well without scanning back through the thread, I'm guessing you had 2.08.hspl installed and ran hspl2 or 4, which will have defaulted to the opposite, namely 2.08.0000,
Or,you SD flashed a tmous stock rom, which didn't initially fail because hspl was installed, but then failed to continue to flash after the spl had changed because hspl was no longer there.
Fix - run hspl2 (hspl2 is the most usefull for us reg Leo users) and choose a matching spl to the rom version installed ...
Rom ....... spl
1.43 ....... 1.42.0000
1.66 ....... 1.66.0000
3.14 ....... 3.03.0000 -- you would need to use Hspl4 for this.
If the phone is buggered and wont boot, then it doesn't really matter which you choose, so long as it's one of those three.
(And in fact it probably wouldn't matter even if the rom and spl don't match,, they're only really interested in the spl, just nice to be cautious,would be a pain to have it sent back on a technicality)
Phone boots but I cant do anything with it due to the screen freeze which is why its going back to HTC.
Ok now it tells me I dont have SPL 1.42 on my phone and it refuses to flash a stock ROM :/

You're using the wrong hspl.exe, its v1 that requires 1.42 to work,,,try again.
Ok I think I got it
I should flash the latest ROM again aswell really as they asked me to do that when I rang em yesterday
All sorted and upgraded to the latest ROM ready to go back to HTC.

while on this topic, im using Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14** via HSPL
now i wish to return to my stock (which i am pretty sure is this :
RUU_Leo_HTC_Asia_WWE_1.48.707.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe
(i copied down these details when i got my phone on the first day)
do i need to roll down to Radio 2.05.51.05_2 ?
i cant seem to get this ROM installed, whether its 1.42 SPL or 2.08 HSPL
i removed HSPL, and definitely not a TMOUS hd2 but cant install the stock rom
