[Q] Always On when charging - 7 Mozart General

I wonder is it normal that even when you turn off the phone (by pressing the power button) the phone will turn on when charging??

I had wondered this and contacted HTC who sent me this back
Thank you for contacting HTC regarding your HTC 7 Mozart
I understand that you are currently experiencing difficulties with the phone turning back on
Unfortunatly this is a feature of the HTC 7 Mozart that whenever the phone is plugged in via a usb cable or the mains the device will automatically turn itself back on.
So yes its normal

fuhhh.. thank you. I thought it was a defect..

hate that "feature" though.

You can always activate Airplane mode if you don't want to be bothered with calls or messages...

i just have this feeling that phones should get a rest too by being turned off while charging.

Even tho this thread is rather old i'd like to add to it and bring it back up.
My wife and me where wondering about this "feature" too. We don't like it at all. We want the phone have a rest and charge. Or should i say: let the battery have a rest while it charges.
Now, i remember having read somewhere that this is an SPL issue, but i cannot recall where and when that was written. I am not even sure that was for the Mozart.
I am just wondering, if anyone knows?
Possibly a newer SPL does change that behaviour?
Would appreciate some input...

Funny - I thought this only happened since the Feb update? I was using one last year that did not do this.

It'd be interesting to know which version that would've been. Do you remember?
Can't anyone shed some light onto this charging question?
I'd really like to know if there's a way to switch that frikkin phone off for charging.

[q] hd2 bricked?

Alright, so I think I bricked my phone! I had put android on it. 2.2 bluetopia? and everything was running fine. My battery was low so I go to charge it, but before I do that a page I was loading from the net froze on me without realizing and the screen dident turn off. I left and did some things and come back to the phone, screen is still on, still frozen and EXTREMELY hot. I get really nervous and get my phone and its to the point where I cant even hold it for too long without it hurting my hands. I take out the battery and pray for the best. My praying sucks apparently because now it does not turn on. Ive tryed letting the phone cool down though the night and it does not turn on. Ive tryed taking out sim card and mem card and it does not turn on. Ive tryed taking out the battery and plugging the the charger it does not turn on. Ive tryed with the battery with the charger it does not turn on! phone gets warm when I put the battery back in. Light that indicates when its charging with the charger doesnt turn on. only slight good news is when I turn the power on I feel a slight vibration from the phone like if its trying to turn on but just cant. Hope someone could shed some light and let me know If I should just move on because this sucks!!!!
ps. I hope people learn from my mistake.
pss. What are the return polices from htc or tmobile? Im concerned because I bought the phone second hand.
thanks for reading/helping.
try stay on charge 15 mns before power on..
ankorez - I tryed that... still does not turn on. gets very warm with no orange light
Sounds like your processor's fried bud. If your phone ever gets hot, or even very warm, TURN IT OFF IMMEDIATELY!!
I know this doesn't help you, as it's too late, but I have seen alot of people mentioning thier phone becoming hot and maybe this will save some headaches.
Sometimes when the HD2 runs low on ram, especially in the Sense Android builds, it seems that the cpu load spikes to 100%, and if left in this state the processor can potentially burn itsself out.
The only time your phone should ever increase in temperature is when it is charging from a very low battery, and still it should not become hot, only slightly warm.
Looks like it's time to call your phone company for a replacement
Seems like ur HD2 is on its suspend cycle, take battery out, leave it for a while (it could be from 2 hours to 8 hours, you have to run-down some sort of internal battery charge), try to switch-on then.
It could have happened bcs of a incompatible radio or Rom, you know you have to have certain WM Rom & radio to run Android.

Sid

thanks everyone for your suggestions and input. Ive called HTC and they said my phone is still under warrenty to be fixed as long as it meets there requirments. one of those was "illegal software". would android on the phone be illegal? how about custom rom/radio? would any of the files be saved onto the phone memory? the phone is fried i think so im assuming they cant access the files? id rather find out now instead of sending the phone and not knowing for 3-4 weeks.
Android won't void your warranty, but HSPL will. If you are running a custom rom, chances are you HSPL'ed it. But if you can get it into bootloader (vol down and power your phone on), you can revert back to stock spl by running HSPL on your phone with it in bootloader and choosing SPL 2.08. If you can't get into bootloader, send it away for replacement, they wont be able to tell whether or not it has had HSPL on it, as bootloader is only way to find this out.
I would rather say it got list stolen if you mess with the phone like that they won't cover...

montalvo - list stolen??? what do you mean?
I meant to say if you brick it phone doing all this. The company won't cover I rather say it got stolen or lost it...u know so they're sent u a new one.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
what the! you can do that? how so? i could just call back and say it was stolen... do i have to file a police report?
Yes u need a report but if is broken just get rid of it...they ll charge u 130 $ but better than paying full retail..

I decided to turn it in as a defective unit. It does not boot up or even into bootloader.Do you guys think they could still tell if its been tampered with? Do you guys think they will replace it free? I sure hope so!
after about three weeks without my phone I have finally gotten it back with a new motherboard free of charge. customer service was good and no headaches from them. if anyone has a similar problem like the one I had I recommend sending it in to htc. A+

You might need to contact HTC.
Hopefully you didn't unlock your boot loader because that voids your warranty. If you did you would know you did its not something you do un-ententionaly. As for auto rotate it could be you accidentally turned it off on quick settings idk if thats on stock but it is on mine but i have a custom rom. As for your phone not turning on try it being plugged into the wall it never hurts to try it has happened to me before if not I would suggest skipping T-Mo and going directly to HTC for advice as they know their phones the best. In addition if they only have a sending it in solution then I would contact T-Mo and tell them your issue. Then you could most likely take it into a store and get a replacement no problem as it seems your phone is pretty new. The phone is pretty new not as new but it never rules out the possibility for a bug as even older well profound technology still has bugs that can cause a major system crash. Happens to me a lot when flying aircraft. Hope this helps.

[Q] HTC Amaze Stock Charger and Battery Issues

My HTC Amaze will not hold a charge. I am using the stock included USB Wall plug and the Micro EXT 12 Pin Cable which only comes with the AMaze (it is also included with the Flyer Tablet). When I first plug in the phone to charge the charge light blinks orange for five minutes and then remains solid. When I return hours later the light is totally out (no green indicator light showing a full charge which I used to get). When I try to turn on the phone the Screen flashes for a split second but nothing happens.
I tried to troubleshoot by swapping in my HTC Sensation battery and that does power up the AMAZE. I have now switched the included Amaze charger with the one that came with the HTC Sensation. The orange power light comes on immediately although it only blinked with the other charger. I am worried that maybe the Power adapter is frying my batteries.
Does anyone know if these included chargers share the same specifications for the Sensation, Amaze etc??? Anyone else experience this problem??
The only thing I can think of is your version of Recovery. I know that the phone will not charge while it is turned off if you have not flashed the most recent version that includes the fix for this problem. Try turning the phone on and then plugging it in to the charger.

Is there a fix for this problem? Does the version of recovery affect the phones ability to charge when its turned off?
either recovery or faulty battery! what happens when you put amaze battery in to sensation?
HTC Amaze Battery
When I put the HTC amaze battery into the Sensation and try to charge it the light blinks. Then after 5 minutes goes solid orange. After hours the light shuts off and I unplug it and try to power up but NOTHING. Dead. I purchased two Anker batteries, tried to charge them in Sensation. One works fine but cannot be charged in the HTC Amaze. I have even tried it with both the White Amaze USB cable and both the HTC Amaze included charger and the Sensation included charger. ( I believe they are the same model). Could it be the USB connection is somehow not allowing the phone to charge?
Doesnt HTC warranty the battery for any period of time???

Yes, there is a fix if that is indeed the issue. Are you able to determine what version of recovery you are using? It could still be a faulty battery though.
Upgrading my phone from a SGS 4g
I heard that the Battery is a big issue on this phone.... can someone tell me if they fixed it with updates or is it still a problem because i really love the camera on this one and im really loving the design but there were other statements abt poor reception in some areas which leaves me in doubt.... Bottom line should i go for Galaxy s 2 over this???

After rooting and using custom roms I don't think there is any battery issues. IMO Battery life is great. Phone is still one if not the best and can be in the top best phones for a while, only thing right now is development. If your all about development then go with s2 if not then amaze. I'm happy with what I have

Tell me something, what is it that really drains the battery on the Amaze? Is it the 4G? Thing is, my device would be on WiFi for the majority of the day. I've seen some apps where you can auto switch network based on proximity. So I'd only be using 3G/4G while I'm in transit.
Also, is there a way to disable 3G/4G so as to only get EDGE?

When I walk in my house, my WiFi comes on and 4g turns off... No special app... I think its a feature of the ROM I use. Sometimes it doesn't kick in until I open my WiFi networks though. If you have WiFi on though when you aren't connected to a network, the constant scanning will drain your battery.
Also, other things that drain the battery:
Sense Widgets... Although attractive, huge battery Hog
Live Wallpapers - Duh
Overclocked Kernels... Faster performance = Faster drain
Heavy usage... When the screen is always on and the data network is constantly being used, it also drops.
On the new Energy ROM, its nice because when your phone is not being used, neither is your battery. My phone went 3 hours with only changing 1%.

Did somebody make a statistic - which SOFTWARE drain battery more quick on Amaze?
Are there any apps that select Wifi based on your GPS location? I'm just trying to figure out how I can get this phone and actually be able to use it without having to pull an arm and a leg.
Battery issues
hey guys, i've had an amaze for about a month now, and these last 2 weeks that i've had it, the phone will randomly shut off once a day when im at or around 50%. I'm not sure if this is a battery or a hardware issue. I have used a non-stock charger and cord to charge it 2 times a week so i'm not sure if this might have anything to do with it. I have the official unofficial ICS update, did a full wipe, relocked the bootloader and unlocked it again and basically put a clean ICS on it. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Llama. It doesn't even use GPS, it uses cell towers to determine location, which your phone's doing already.

This link shows the new 12 pin technology that MUST be used with the Amaze. This is a real pain, just purchased two HTC-Amaze phones and taking them back for the Galaxy.
I hate it when they change technology and make all your charging cords in your phones and your computers obsolete and don't tell you. Also, the Amaze is designed for European drivers. The charging cord plugs into the left-upper middle of the phone and it is dangerous to pick up to unplug wile driving because the cord hits the steering wheel. How do you spell DANGER? Really heavy and clunky phone too. Galaxy has bigger screen and is lighter - another reason to pass on the Amaze. Be careful with this phone if you aren't aware it is in a tech world of it's own. Just replacing the charging cords in our autos and computers cost more than the phone. Sheesh!

I use a standard micro USB to charge my Amaze. Works fine.
I think you may mean "designed for English drivers", since they are the only European country that drives on the left side of the street and thus have the driver on the right side. But in any case one is not supposed to be messing around with the power while driving anyway.

As mentioned, conventional microUSB cords work fine, and some of HTC's own documentation says so, some even recommend it. I do find I get a better/faster charge using HTC's cables, but they are functionally the same as microUSB. The odd connector is more secure, though -- it's longer and inserts further in the socket.
You should not be picking up or juggling your phone while driving. Period. End quote. Just don't.
I am also disappointed to the Nth degree with the Amaze, actually not so much the phone which is lovely and solid and attractive and loaded with hardware features, I'm furious with HTC's absolutely stupid mess with drivers, and refusal to quickly resolve issues with the software. It's October, 10 months after purchase, and I have problems with WiFi, Android Beam, Bluetooth, surprise shutdowns (just finding the phone has turned off by itself). In short, it's failed to function as a reliable phone.
I'll never buy from them again. Never. Ever. Google Nexus phones for me from now on, and not on a carrier contract either. I've been burned for the last time.

From what I've read, the shutdowns may be caused by the battery. You might want to try replacing the battery you are using. So far I have not found one better than the OEM.

[Q] Screen Won't Turn On So Battery Pull Is Needed

This is my second Rezound (I got this as a replacement from Verizon). Everything has been working fine for the past 2 months, but recently the screen won't turn on at random times. The screen seems to get stuck in the off mode and I have to do a battery pull to get it on again. Everything else is working when this happens, like I can hear people calling and hear emails coming in, but I can't do much without the screen! I noticed that it happens often when I'm in phone calls... the proximity sensor won't work after the first time I hold it to my head, the screen just goes off and then stays off. Sometimes (rarely) the screen will turn on when I press the power button, but then turn off as soon as the screen is touched (which makes me want to break the phone).
I hope this makes sense. Any ideas from anyone or I am on to my third replacement phone? Will they even replace my phone again? I bought it back in December.
They will replace it again, and it does sound like a hardware issue.
Sounds like you need a replacement

happened on my incredible on a few custom roms, and then it happened on my rezound stock not rooted too. it's an HTC issue, probably.
had the exact same problem on my rezound. busted proximity sensor. Verizon replaced it with no hassles.
Thanks for all the input so far people! I'll be getting in touch with Verizon.
I got my new replacement Rezound today and now have a new problem where the phone will not allow data connections. I finally got Verizon to let me switch to a different phone. This will be my first non HTC phone since 2004, starting with the i-mate JAM. I am so glad to be done with the Rezound finally.

I was having this problem consistently too with both GB and ICS when I was using custom kernels. So far, only the 2 most recent 3.0 ICS leak kernels have stabilized the problem to the point where I haven't had a reboot or freeze in a couple weeks.

[Q] Rezound screen went black, will not turn on despite being charged

I've been having an odd issue occasionally for the last few months with my Rezound. I'll be using the phone normally with a fair amount of charge left, and suddenly the screen will turn off and the phone will go completely unresponsive. Nothing works to turn the phone back on, including pulling the battery, holding vol down + power, and issuing a reboot command via adb. When I try to turn the phone on, I'll get a quick vibrate, like the one that usually happens when you turn the phone on, but nothing displays on the screen and there's no indication that the phone is doing anything else. In the past I've been able to leave the phone plugged in overnight and it's awake and working in the morning, but I haven't had such luck this time around. I've been sporadically able to get to the phone through adb, but it's iffy at best. Reflashing the latest RUU via adb hasn't done the trick. Has anybody else experienced this? Any thoughts or suggestions?
Phone is S-Off, I've experienced this issue with both Nil's and Newt's Sense 4.0/4.1 roms, I don't remember if I ever experienced this issue with a 3.6 rom. Just in the last week, I flashed the latest RUU (with the 2.27 HBOOT), was running one of the older RUUs prior to that.

Thanks. Decided to go to the store today and the tech couldn't get it figured out, she was completely baffled. Apparently though, it's now their policy to not do warranty replacements on site anymore...she said that I would get one in the mail in 3-5 days. Not sure if that was just the policy at that store or across the board, but yet another reason why I'm hating Verizon more and more.
Try taking the battery out and plunging in the Rezound to a wall charger. Then wait for the orange led to light up, put the battery back in and wait 3hr, then try to boot.

My phone just started doing something similiar. Everything was working fine one minute and the next the screen is black. The led still blinks and comes when on the charger. And the haptic feedback works, when you press hardware keys the softkeys light up like they are supposed too. I can also receive calls and answer them by guessing approximately how to swipe with a black screen. I am thinking the screen is bad, but the touching still works.
I dont want to switch phones, I want to keep my unlimited plan from verizon. I don't think I should have to pay a deductible if the hardware on my phone is bad.

I just had this happen to me with my Rezound. screen is very dim on boot and not on at all during operations. Haptic feedback is there, and notification sounds are being played. Did you find something that worked or am I destined for a holiday trip to get a replacement phone?
Thanks,
