Question about GingerBlur - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys. Since I can't post in the development forum, this is the best place for me to post I guess. I was just wondering how I could load more than one mod on gingerblur (if possible)?
Thanks!

Please elaborate.

Sorry about that. I am currently running the % mod for gingerblur (which shows battery drain each percent) and I am wondering if I can run the mod that removes the vibrate from the 4 capacitive buttons on the phone. Thanks for your input.

That method says it will not affect your themes, im pretty sure that includes your 1%battery. Is that the method of disabling hardkey vibes you were looking at?

Thanks for the help but I'm deciding on keeping the vibration for the buttons.

[Q] Mytouch 4G (can it be rooted)

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone knows if the Mytouch 4g can't be rooted, similar to the G2? The phone looks nice and comes with android 2.2 already. I may sell the vibrant for it, but if it can't be rooted I probably won't.
Might want to check the my touch 4g forums... This forum is meant for the vibrant, right?

I'm pretty sure I read a tweet or something that said it had the same root prevention as the G2 where it will flash a factory restore as soon as you reboot after doing any kind of root injection.
I would believe all the upcoming Android offerings from TMO that utilize HSPA+ will come as closed as possible to prevent people free riding on WiFi tethering, there is a reason they want to charge you $15/mo for tether plan with 5GB cap, isn't?

Thanks for the info. I did like the idea of having froyo, but since its root protected, I would miss the customization options and of course the forum. I'm gonna stick with the vibrant for now
There is a post in the MT4G forum in the Development section saying that the temp root using Visionary works and if you enable fastboot( the setting which allows the phone to awaken or power up in 5 seconds) the root remains after powering on and off. If you pull the battery the fastboot is disabled and the root is gone. So as long as you dont pull the battery the root remains. Just read the thread a few moments ago.

Gingerblur vs. GreyBlur

Has anyone compiled pro and cons list for both roms. They both look super good i am just wondering which one i should flash.

Just look at the list of features of both. If you can't decide, try both of them.
Also, this is the wrong place to create a post about it. This goes in the General or Q&A.

GreyBlur
IMO GreyBlur seems to be a tad bit snappier ... And digging the transitions .
grey blur is better but has worse battery life

you cannot say somthing has worse battery life in one day you haft to let the phone settle and atlease go through one or two charges unless its a dramatic difference
Battery Life
I'm rocking GeryBlur , 100% @ 6am used the phone during work here and there, it is now 10:21pm and im @ 40% ... I would say thats pretty good in my book .
Has any of youll compared the quadrants or the AnTutu system benchmark of the 2 if so i would love to here your results
ive used both of them, i loved the way gingerblur worked out for me had no problems, ive been rockin greyblur all day havent had any issues yet, seems to be a lot quicker gonna give it a few more days
Right i appreciate all the feed back so far. Im a complete noob to this. Question is has anyone had any problems with facebook syncing up with gingerblur like it will sync the contacts but it wont sync the pictures. Also with tenfars CWM is there a way to switch back between the rooted stock rom, ginger blur and also grey blur if so will someone provide me with some instructions on it thank you
i have noticed one thing i dont know if anyone else has with greyblur i use a task killer and the available memory i had with gingerblur was in the 550 range and with greyblur is only 290-300 seems like more things are running in the background

Don't use a task killer on Androd 2.2+
Android was designed as a mobile OS. It's not like a PC. Task killers on your Atrix hurt more than they help.
Battery life might be shorter on Greyblur
Greyblur has better WiFi performance
Greyblur has some helpful improvements built in (Hulu support, webtop mod, HDMI mirroring)
Greyblur looks different (duh)
That's it as far as I know. The performance upgrades will be integrated into Gingerblur in future releases I'm fairly certain.

From gingerblur to gingerbread ,is there a must have feature?

I have been thinking of Updating for a while now But the process seems a little bit too complicated For a beginner like me And also not yet convinced of the pros on updating
Also I'm not yet sure if rooting or if the hdmi hack is available after update
( Correct me if I'm wrong)

Yes, there is root.

The HDMI Webtop hacks are working for some, and not for others. I have tried every HDMI hack I can find, but none work for me. I can get the options for Webtop, Mirroring, etc., but can only use the Entertainment Center.

Its way faster

ok then how do i go from gingerblur to gb?
I don't think it's much faster than gingerblur. A little bit but not that much.

I have noticed the faster speeds. iv gone from gingerblur 4.5 to the new alien rom and I think switching between screens is a lot snappier. The battery life isnt quite as good but I have only had the rom installed for a day so it presumably will improve
Hi peeps
Bump, I'm also interested in upgrading to Alien vers. 4.
I currently have gingerblur 3.5 and been away from the Atrix scene for a long time, so I'm a little outdated.
Could someone quickly sum up the steps to upgrade to Alien 4?
Thank you
the main difference is that gingerBLUR is a puesdo rom, it has mods and a theme to look like gingerbread. The gingerbread rom is actually the real deal. so pretty much what you should be comparing is froyo to gingerbread and see if there are 'must haves' that you want

[Q] atrix ginerbread update question

Hey all,
First of all, sorry if this question has been asked and answered many times :s
I just got the notification for the Gingerbread 4.5.91 en.US, and was wondering its worth updating to normally, or going about some other way?
I'm currently running a stock Atrix (no rooting or anything) on 4.1.83.
What are the pros and cons in updating to the newer update (4.5.91 en.US) via motorola, compared to another way?
In future i would also like to mess around with my phone (side-loading apps, themes etc), so please take this into account.
Thanks to those who reply

[Q] Help to root Atrix 4G 2.3.6 the right way.

Hello to all!! I have done other android phones in the past, but boy this one is tough. Ok, I bought an Atrix 4G a while back and it had 2.3.4. The battery life is great and all is good, until I dropped it and broke the screen. Damm..... So then a few weeks later I bought another one, but this one has 2.3.6. Battery sucks!!!!! Drains to quickly, and of course I want to ROM it. Well I've looked around and saw little to do to root 2.3.6, and I'm new to the locked bootloader. Can someone just point out where to look and see how to root and unlock bootloader?? I just want to ROM it with something else. Thanks!!
Its the same as on the 2.3.4 look at my threads I have one on this with a video and I have another on unlocking
