hi guys, like a week ago i lost my g1 and now im looking for a replacement... im not a noob so please dont talk to me like one
the history goes likes this, a friend of mine has a samsung vibrant and it has this glitch, the lights of the bottom buttons go on and off constantly and the phone vibrates like when someone is calling you... my question is, can it be fixed by flashing a new rom or can it be hardware related??
I have not been able to try the phone, i just saw the problem via webcam so i dont know exactly what sets the lights up or if its a random thing....
any ideas?? i want to buy the phone but i want to know if i can fix it with a rom or not
Why doesn't your friend get a warranty replacement first before you buy it second hand?

maybe he stole it from someone haha xD i dont know.... i think he bought without contract but he doesnt have a warranty and he wants the money asap....
please answer my question guys
edit: we are not like close friends, I barely know the guy... just so you know...
If it was a software issue we would all have the problem. Do not buy it.
Check the LDI under that battery, it should be white. What you are describing sounds a lot like liquid damage.
Ok, so I am one of the MANY pissed off Vibrant owners. My GPS would never work so I saw that video of the GPS antenna mod and decided to try it for myself. Before you go and tell me what a dumba$$ I am for breaking it I took the utmost care in trying to complete this. Anyway, I did everything that the vid said except for the part where it says not to bend it too far or it will break. It broke. Yeah, beyond words my frustration. Started cussing Samsungs name. Anyway, does anyone have a clue as to how I can fix this or am I screwed? Thanks in advance!
Get flame suit on
Good luck, if you have insurance you can just get a new one for $150 or whatever the copay is.

insurance is the only way out..
Sad to say but opening up the device voided your warranty. IF tmobile finds out what happened you will probably be charged the out of warranty fee... You should have thought about this a lot harder before you decided to play operation on your vibrants guts
Hey mine broke too......all I did was dropped a blob of molten solder ......work ur sense for the height

I guess this literally gets us out of a real brick. Hoping our vibrants can do this since this will.save a lot of people. It works for the original galaxy s (and epic) so it should work for us right?

Looks like we have the same hole between the camera and speaker. Give it a shot.
Not for the Vibrant sorry at least not there i looked maybe somewhere else but i have had this phone totally apart and never found a rest button
I know there is an unassuming button looking thing diagonally above the left top corner of the sim card, i havent had an instance in which i needed to use it thou, so i have no idea what it does/does not do, but if you are in a bind i spose it would be worth a shot.
Im not in a bind I was just curious if I ever were in one but if someone is they should try this

That is for an external antenna.
Does anyone know where to get a replacement bezel? I bought my phone used and it has some nicks and scratches on the bezel. I think I have a mild form of OCD and it drives me insane to see scratches on it. Also what size Torx wrench would I need to take this thing apart? All input appreciated!
The bezel, as in the piece attacked to the screen, or the plastic ring that's slightly higher around it?
The glass piece is about 40~ bucks, the plastic? I've had a quick look on the Google and found nothing, sorry dude.
I am pretty sure it is the plastic around the glass screen. Mine is loose in one of the corners and it is making me upset. I would love to know where to get a new one, but for now, I just have a case on it to make sure it all stays together
My best suggestion would be to just repaint yours for now.
Call verizon if your having audio issues hint hint...I know someone who bought a use phone and it had a few things wrong so they sent them a refurbished one, these phones have a one year manufacture warranty it doesnt matter that you got it used they dont know that.

Hmm, sounds like it would work, but I don't know if I would really want to do that... I might if a replacement bezel is out of the picture.
I know it will work,I bought a used thunder bolt it wouldnt mount to my pc called and told them about they never asked if i bought it used or anything. My friend had the same issues as yourself but i think they may have told them something else was wrong with it and they sent a refurb to them, its up to you but they just send them back and get refunded...
Hmm, the buzzing behind my music is a legitimate enough reason to ask Verizon for a new one. I might go this weekend and see if they will replace it.
You might want to call in they dont have refurbs in store most of the time they overnight them to you.

Thanks for the heads up. I wonder if they would let me get a Nexus? I love this phone, but I would really like to try out a Nexus. Then if I don't like it I could just trade someone for another Rezound

Would you have to have insurance for this?

I was looking around for this same thing, and I think I might of found something, try this and let me know. (If I ever need to) also, I am curious to see if you can get a Nexus. (I still love my Rezound though)

I will try it out tomorrow after I call Verizon. I am also curious if they will give me a Nexus. I bet if I complain about the build quality of the phone and how I'm not happy with it and maybe threaten not to come back when my contract is up they would give it to me I do still love this phone though, so if they will just replace it I will be happy.

I had both phones at the same time and returned the GN after 3 days...no comparison...Rezound is better by far all around!

I had my iPhone 4 stolen (right in front of my eyes) before I switched to GNote.
I was wondering if there is an app/mod to enable password entry before a phone could be shut down. I guess you can simply take out the battery, if you really wanted to shut down even with this app/mod.
If it is possible, I might consider superglue-ing the backplate to the phone. So, if my phone is stolen, I will hopefully have more time to track my phone and recover it.
Anyone?
Then how would you access your sim or SD card? I would highly suggest just keeping it in your pocket when you go out from now on.
And if you're held up at gunpoint just give it to him and chalk it up to the cost of staying alive.

P.s. this is coming from a guy that's had a gun put to his head for $80 and a phone.

I was at McD's with my brother and my girlfriend. My brother was sitting across from me, and the phone was on the table inches away from me.
This teenager came up behind my brother, reached over him across the table to grab my phone and took off. We chased after him outside. He sprayed us with a bear spray (stronger than pepper spray), but I had glasses on, so I still caught him. But while we were struggling, he tossed the phone to another kid and I chased after him. By this time, I was too tired and they both got away.
I lost my phone, ruined a very nice coat and shoes because bear spray won't come out of it, and police lost my driver's license while taking my statement.
It was a very sh***y day, and if you don't have anything constructive to say in response to my question, don't reply. I know I won't be able to access the SIM card and SD card, but I rarely ever need to anyways, unless there is a major issue. I will deal with it then.
Jesus man thats terrible I am really sorry to hear about that. Ill keep my phone much closer to me now.
As for those kids you should have gave the one you caught something to remember. Something he will remember for the rest of his life.
I would have taken his left eye with my thumb.
Get a pistol for next time and he'll stop one way or the other. Preferably the other imo. One less wannabe thug making babies.

^ yep.
Got my CCW last year havent looked back since.
Well, in any case, is this type of mod possible?
Or, maybe a fake shutdown mod? It looks like the phone is shutting down, but it is not?

I'm sure you could write an app to do it.

There are apps where you can find GPS coordinates. Might help if someone steals your phone.

You are missing my point. If someone powers off the phone or pulls the battery, GPS tracking stops.
I want to make it as hard as possible to power off the phone.
Try Visidon - it's a face unlocking app - i use it to lock my settings, play, email and other apps you want to face lock
