you can always install the stock 2.1.B.0.1 firmware that came out several days ago. I am using it and with a few tweaks it works great and has a lot of improvements

Firstly.. do you have a X10i?
If you do
Then flash the stock rom.
Flash BB.67
Then flash Wolf breaks rom once it's started up crash the server and reboot a few times.
Then flash the TW 007 patch for WB's rom.
Here is the link to the thread that has this fw:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936733
also i have posted my impressions on this fw on another thread, however i am copy pasting them again here, no prob:
I got it yesterday from xda and to be honest I was not sure whether to update or not, cause of the loss of apps and settings (I have to do them all over again cause I don’t like to back up stuff). I prefer to start fresh when I update. Anyways, to get to the point, the update at first did not seem any different, however after using it for a day it gives the phone a GREATLY improved interface. What I’ve noticed so far:
1. Touch screen is more responsive and the scrolling is smoother (I use launcherPro). I have also tried games like Fruit Ninja, Cut the Rope and Can Knockout 2 and there is a great improve on the touch response without lags or delays. In addition, touch seems more precise.
2. When I wake up the phone and unlock it it does not lag like it did in the previous firmware (.435)
3. Apps and in general everything I tap to open responds faster and has an animation (Not sure if that was from before, I noticed now)
4. I have noticed that the media volume is way higher, I hope I am not mistaken but to me it seems really higher than before. Not sure about the in-call volume though, I cannot really tell any difference, at least not a major one.
5. There is a difference into battery life definitely. I use ATK(Advanced task killer), Autokill set to Screen Off and Security level to Medium. After the upgrade the battery seems to drain slower. However, I cannot tell since I am using the phone for only one day, but i can say that after an normal use of the phone during the day, with several calls, gaming etc. my battery now is down to 73%
That is all i’ve noticed so far. I am not a tester, just a simple user. I have not run any benchmark or similar tests on the phone. I am posting this for the simple users that want to know what to expect from this upgrade.
P.S.: I have removed junk appks and enabled JIT right from the beggining of usage. I figured if I do it before actually use the phone it would reduce the chance for those apps to collect information and save it on the phone, thus improve maybe a bit the speed and space.

now that's weird. did you delete any apks from the phone? if yes make sure you didn't delete the wrong ones. you can either restore them if you have made a backup of them or reflash...
So did it work out? I have a X10a that I flashed to generic firmware and it says X10i now. I am in the USA and wondering if it would work here..

Technically this update is regional, not global, so there could be battery and signal issues if it is not designed for your region. Not enough senior USA X10a members have reported their results trying this German firmware on X10A yet. Try it, if you have trouble flash back, and report back on xda.
Works fine southeast North America x10a

I just got my AT&T Xperia X10 and want to root it, mainly to get rid of the AT&T apps they shove on by default and I can't rid of. What is the best method?
I can't give you the links I looked at as I'm new on this forum and they don't allow new users to post outside links. I looked at a link titled:
"Exploid One Click .apk Root (Latest v.1.06 12 Aug. 2010)" (this forum)
...and another one titled:
"Exploid Root Method for Xperia X10 [Tutorial]" (xperiax10.net)
My phone has build number R2CA016 on it, I assume there's no loss of functionality by going to a slightly older build? FYI, my model is X10A.
Thanks.
In my experience, keeping the AT&T build is the better option. My battery life is much better and the phone performs better with no stability issues.
I tried the long method first. I had some issues with the battery barely lasting a day and the device rebooting randomly. It also seemed to get much hotter when using it.
I also tried a few of the decrypted X10a ROMS like Rogers and Latin America Generic. They also exhibited lower battery life and the Latin version had some random reboots.
I went back to the stock AT&T ROM, rooted, removed all the AT&T crapware, and re-enabled the non-market apps option. The phone has been amazingly stable and the battery will last me two days.
Additionally, I found Handcent and ADW both reduced my battery life significantly so I am not using either of those on my phone now. I also remove ALL the AT&T apps including the Exchange app.
Slow down, I'm still getting to grips with this phone!
Right now the battery lasts just over one day, so I'm trying to figure out what apps are running in the background so I can axe anything un-necessary. When you say the "long method", do you mean the procedure in this forum called "Exploid One Click", or the one in the Xperax10.net forum?
Can I save the stock ROM that's installed, so I can go back to it if I want? I just want to remove the garbage-ware to be honest, I don't use Facebook, Youtube, Timescape or all the other apps AT&T puts on. Can you give me a procedure for what you did? Sticking to the AT&T ROM sounds like a good idea, I just want to remove the AT&T apps. FYI, I need an app that let's me connect to MS Exchange.

I'm alright using any of the methods, especially with command prompts, I just wasn't sure if my phone being AT&T would cause a problem. The goal is to wipe the AT&T apps off and just put on what I need.
So far as ROMs, is there any in particular I should be looking at? Surely my ROM is newer than some referred to in the guides? I see "R2BA026" mentioned a lot, where-as I have R2CA016.
I also want a Wi-Fi app that can connect to hidden networks. The default app on my phone works, but when you move away from the network and come back, it no longer sees it. So I'll be looking for a new app for Wi-Fi connections.
Thanks.
I used the longer of two, and I have experienced much better battery life with juice defender on my rooted x10.. All depends what u do and what u have running I guess...but, no probs since rooting a month ago and still going strong. Also, I do not see batt drain from adw and I have been using it for over a month.
Fyi, originally a rogers locked x10a, now unlocked, rooted and running 026 firmware. Hope that helps.. Good luck.

Yes, use the one-click to root. Then you need to install a root file explorer to remove the apk files in the \data\app-private directory. Otherwise, when you uninstall with Titanium Backup it just reinstalls them automatically. If you don't understand what I am saying you can send me a private message and I'll help you through it.
There is one particular apk that you do not want to remove if you need Exchange support. That apk is com.nitrodesk.sony.nitroid.apk
To re-enable non-market apps, look for the non-market app thread under the Samsung Captivate on this forum. The only difference is that on our phone, the settings.db file is in /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db. You will need to use that in the place of the directory for the Captivate settings.db

I'm not sure what to say here. I have tested battery life with and without Handcent SMS and it is definitely causing battery drain during partial wake of the Battery History information. The ADW drain may have just been circumstantial but the Handcent issue is easily replicated.
Also, the AT&T ROM is R2CA016 which would seem to be new than the R2B ROMs on other carriers. I think this may be why I get the best battery life using this ROM. I do have it decrypted for easy restore from debranding as well.

Not with the majority of apps it doesn't, I've only come across Creatouch and Serveme that do, everything else can be done with just Titanium.

Hey Bill, I was simply stating that I have not seen any battery drain with ADW installed. With Juice defender, I see over 2.20x+ battery life, which in the real world equates to about 2 days, some times a few hours over and that is a huge improvement from when I initially unlocked the phone.
As far as Handcent is concerned, I do use it, even with the figures above. I have never used anything but handcent, so I'm not sure whether I have seen a decrease, but my x10 has been fine with all the before mentioned applied. As I said earlier, I guess it all depends on your usage and apps and running processes as a whole.. I don't know. haha. Didn't want it to seem as if I were throwing you under the bus or anything, just stating my actual usage experience.
My 2 cents..
Not to hijack the thread but where should I find the original ATT ROM that you guys are talking about?
Alright, I'll try the one-click method then. Do you recommend a root file explorer, naplesbill?

AT&T Wont allow Side Loading without root access...I Tried that one earlier this morning, and it didnt work either.
The Root tutorial that has been mentioned seems to be the best method, Although I've gotten up to the Part where it says that under the model number on the phone it should Show X10a (which mine does) Yet, apparently Im missing something because I have no Root access...SO, Hopefully, If this Rapidshare download finishes this year, I'll get back to trying it again...Could just be that I missed something in the steps...I dunno LOL!

I will check it out. been charging up my phone form all the flashing i did earlier.
The last version had an issue on my phone so ill try this. I will edit this post for you when I can update you.
Edit: I have installed it and it seems to be running fine. At first its a bit laggy like any new rom but after a couple of reboots it got better. I installed busybox and a bunch of other market applications and didnt find any issues yet. made a few test calls and no issues. I can't test the 3g connection since i am not in range and i barely have phone service, but i am sure it should work fine.
i cant seems to get back into the xrecovery by hitting back anymore so i guess i will have to redo that part. Otherwise no issues. Back to my working rom backup so i have a working phone for work
good luck!

No, not yet the Phone dial loop is still there. You should try Shipped 2.1 light which is a SE striped version, it is really fast and stable I got near 700~730 scores in Quadrant...
Sent from my X10i
3g conections workijg fine with ultralight 001 its faster 17mflops and over 700 in quadrant plus no bugs calls works everytime
Battery its running fine It just went down 1% sleeping 7 hours so thats amazing
Still got 50% since yesterday and i was playing alot with the phone so indeed its a nice rom
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
I got some problems with ultralight version but the light one works well for me.
Battery performance has got better and I can notice it's faster than the standard SE 2.1 rom. Still I don't like the fact that there is no gallery shortcut in the camera app it would work only with mediascape...
I don't remember if vignette has a shortcut for the gallery have to try it again (even if it's SO slow)
Please post question for the 2.1 aosp rom in the correct thread,
And yes i know that thread wasnt started when this was but i have to keep thread tidy
hi guys
couple of questions:
i have a XEUK firmware on 2.3.4 at the moment, unbranded, unlocked and rooted and phone notified me that there's an upgrade available:
- will the upgrade work via wireless from the about menu straight away or i need to go via kies?
- apps, contacts, photos and videos are gonna be deleted?
- root, will that stay or i will have to do it again?
- camera, is the white balance improved when using flash with ICS? right now colors act up with the flash, thats a known bug..
that being said, my phone runs great so i am wondering if is worth or not to upgrade, i dont care of having the very very latest release...
for who will answer these few questions, thanks in advance!
Gabrio
1. I believe you do need Kies, I wasn't able to update my phone without it.
2. No, however I strongly recommend you to backup the phone, just in case.
3. You will have to root again.
4. Not sure about this one, sorry.
Honestly, I was extremely disappointed after update because, although everything worked just fine, the phone became a little laggy and I wasn't able to change screen DPI (I bricked my phone twice as well).

No you didnt, unless you fixed it via JTAG.
Screwing up while flashing resulting in rom not booting isnt "bricking" unless you cant enter download mode or recovery.

Okay, I got a bootloop twice. The point is, it hasn't been very stable for me lately.
That too... Stable means the thing runs without any issues and Ics do run without issues, you fiddled with it than say thing is not stable is also wrong.

Anyone on ics up for a test? Just take a pic indoors with flash possibly in the evening or a bit of dark area..not pitch black of course, do colors look strange?.. Kill him?, stop over-reacting child. Simply correcting his misconception. Also yours.
There is no such thing as "semibricked", Its either bricked or it isnt, simple as that. Screwing up your flash which results in rom not booting as normal is not "bricked" or "semibricked". Its only bricked when it wont boot into rom, download or recovery and only option is hardware recovery like for example when you wipe/corrupt your bootloader.

now i reset my sxs before i started, i'm using the LT26_6.1.A.0.452_Generic_CH_1257-3740_ ftf as my daily.
after the update my sxs's battery lasted about 3 hours and has slowly been getting better, but still seems bad. can't get a full day in (8 hours).
also once a day the phone just reboots, i go to open or swipe and it hangs then it just reboots.
has anyone else had issue's like this? could it be the root procedure or an ics issue or both?
thanks for any tips.
So I take it no one else has issue's like mine?

I am on ICS, used the generic CH that was made available in the first thread on rooting ICS.
Thanks.
I was reading about cwm and maybe I will use it to flash a rom and see if it gets any better.
I'm tired off random apps hanging then android asking if I want to wait or force close.
Thanks for the replies.

Ok I have time this weekend to fix my phone but I would like some advice.
Do you think I should start all over again or can I just reset and reflash ics?
If I only flash the same ics will I loose root?
Thanks for any input.

Hello,
I have Sola for 6 months by now and it was a hell of a phone till i decided to upgrade to ICS. After that, my performance decreased signifcantly and I can't even do simple tasks. Tasks which a low end phone can do, even better then mine, such as the simple Galaxy Y S5360. And, yes, i get pissed when I look this phone behaving better then mine.
I tried to downgrade to GB, to upgrade to ICS, install a custom ROM of ICS and etc. Lately i tried Munjeni JellyBean, and after that, eXperience Innovation ROM. All of them have a good performance, but still, they do poorly then the Galaxy Y.
I miss my performance and i want to ask you guys, how the hell can i have my phone acting like a real dual-core phone?
Hope you guys can help me
Thanks

The jb roms are not really stable yet. You can try experience v2 rom which is ics based rom and then if you have an unlocked bootloader u can change kernels or even oc ur device. And also what di you mean by slower?

I mean that i can't even multitask with dolphin browser and some other app without having major slowliness in the phone. Or anything that my phone can possibly do (by his specs) and is not being able to do it. I have to uninstall Facebook app and Messenger app cause they crap the hell out of my phone.
Won't the GB experience would be faster/more efficient? Can't you guys reccomend me any "THE ****" rom for Sola? I mean...a kernel and a rom that can really bring me the experience of having a good phone (again).
Thanks

Ohh well yeah i think this rom was not really meant for multitasking though but i think this rom is better than the stock ics http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2162832
How about you try that out too? And also i suggest the speedy kernel just search it and youll see that kernel. Good day

i am very happy that i can make tweaks
i am using jb with my own tweaks and mods
and my phone is flying i don't have any kind of lag at all
i will release my tweaks soon
and the rom when i get enough time
Thank you all for your answers.
I'm installing Speedy Sola v5.5 now and eXperience™ v2...I will report in a few hours.
I've tried to install the kernel via CWM and my phone got stuck on the boot screen.
Tried with 2 SpeedySola kernels already (ICS and JB) and they do not work.
Just reporting.

Wait there is a kernel for the experience v2 included i the zip u fastboot that first and then u copy the kernel in sd then flash it via recovery. Or if you already do that try wiping data. Hope that helps

I ****ed up.
I was randomly installing kernels (dumb attitude) until my phone just can't run CWM anymore. Nor being at flashmode or fastboot @usb connection.
What the heck can i do?

Ohh I think u really be careful with kernels but try pressing power plus vol up button until it vibrates 3 times then try fastbooting again. Or try flashing stock ics again and start there

Hey!
I managed to flash the ICS stock from somewhere and it is kinda flying right now.
But i have a little feeling inside of me telling me that it will suck soon...so, i'm gonna give a chance to eXperience then.
Thanks and see ya

Root it and debloat it asap. It would fly on and won't get back to Earth then, I bet.
Back up always before doing stuff
Before even thinking about installing new roms, kernels, mods, tweaks.. anything be sure that you've backed up using recovery and have saved it not only on your phone but your pc also.. that way if anything f***s up, all you need to do is restore and your saved.
Okay, i need your guys help again.
My phone did great till now, but its kinda slow already. So, i want to upgrade the kernel/rom/whatever to make it fly again. Would you guys recommend me some updates?
I was thinking of "eXperience Innovation" or maybe "Ultimate Rom V11". Those roms will make my phone better? As i said previously, I just need my phone behaving like a dual-core powerful phone as it is.
Thanks :cyclops:
Install cm9 or cm10.1. best roms for our phones, hands down
I suggest that you must try project xvr rom, its more stable and really smooth, no problem with multitasking, etc.
