I just got my phone back from repair and I'm trying to install HardSPL. The installer for some reason isn't able to tell that the phone is connected and even though the phone says "USB" in the bootloader, HSPL doesn't see it.
HSPL is just stuck saying "Waiting for USB..."
Any hints? I'm using windows 7

make sure u are conected to the internet for driver update
chek your cable ))
make sure that your usb connection is set to active sync (on your device)
I had already tried all of the above and it didn't work.
(with regards to the activesync thing, the HSPL installer automatically took my phone into bootloader mode. So I don't think there was any issue there)
In the end, I just went and used a different computer.
I have a laptop, and i had the same problem. My solution was to connect my phone through another usb port on my computer (main usb port) try it with the other usb ports.
Hope this helped you

Hmmm interesting....
However, the same USB port on my computer works for flashing ROMs and Radios so I doubt that is the problem. In fact, I used the same USB port for flashing the NRG rom straight after I hard spl'd my phone!
My solution was to just use another computer.
Thanks for your response. Hopefully this thread might help some guy in the future in a similar situation.

actually just cos a port works for flashing means nothing. you can flash and sync through case mounted ports and usb hubs, but hspl won't work on those same ports.
ok the micro usb on my phone doesnt work at all so i cant hook it to the pc,
someone please tell me that i can still task 29 my phone in some way with no usb pretty please??????
I dont think its possible, sorry.
On the other hand..... why the desperate need to task29?
I know a lot of people swear by it but I've had my HD2 since launch and never used it, flashed numerous winmo roms, WP7, Android to NAND and never experienced any issues that have made me think "hmmm task29 would sort this"....
I think its a bit of a placebo if Im honest.
Just my 2 cents......

The only way to do task 29 in your situation is by flashing Correct Stock ROM via Micro SD Card.
All Stock ROM will perform Task 29 before it flashing. But, you will end up with the Stock ROM
Have you tried your friend's PC?
If you task29 you're going to have to connect to your computer to flash a new rom, so how are you going to do that?
Does your phone charge or is the whole usb hardware fried?
My original HTC USB cord allows me to charge most of the time but does not allow the phone to establish a connection to a pc, replaced it with a new Belkin cord and everything works fine. Are you sure it's the phone that doesn't work?

I think one can use the SD flash method with any ROM, custom or stock.

Mainly try the last part first.
thank you again but no go...
I tried with no luck,
The memory card mounts into the phone fine and i can use xrec.
What i cant do is when i plug the usb into the computer it does nothing.
All i get is a marker that says charging.
I have even bin able to install through xrec, wolf v4, v5, and currently running v6 with no usb support to flash tif files, SEUS, or transfer stuff on any of them.

Thank you for the help today i will see what i can find to get back to stock kernal...
I will be away from the computer for the next few days so i will re open this thread then...
After 8 hours of looking i could not get my phone to connect through usb to flash or manage files.
I think i have narrowed it down to the kernal but i may be wrong.
I am running doomkernal unlocked so without flashing the kernal i have no clue how to fix this since i cant connect through usb.

Have you had any luck mate?
If not try these drivers on your pc and then connect your phone.
yeah my USB port is going too it sucks. Need to be soooo careful when flashing new kernels now or I may brick it as it's unlocked
If I don't have the wire in just a certain way it senses nothing, and the cable is able to like wiggle around in there like the connection is getting loose. Bad times

Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to connect my phone to the computer so I can root it but when I plug the USB in windows doesn't recognise my device and fails to install the drivers. I tried installing the newest HTC Sync and that didn't do anything to help. I tried uninstalling the drivers and reconnecting my phone but that didn't work either. I just got the same message.
Any help is much appreciated

Thanks, i'll give it a go now!
Unfortunately that didn't work
Here's a couple suggestions. Check to see if your cord is the culprit and switch them out. I forgot your phone is having issues with PC detection. Try and connect it to another computer to rule out your PC. Another option would be to find a "signed" ruu and flash it through your bootloader. I emphasize signed because only a signed ruu can flash on a s-on device with the bootloader relocked. Then again if your bootloader is unlocked there's no point in trying the ruu option. Lol

Thanks guys, I'll try the signed ruu and try a different PC but unfortunately I only have one cable I can't really try that one till I get borrow a phone cable
Right well it's not the computer, it won't connect to my laptop either, I've tried restarting both the phone and the computer/ laptop and the signed ruu didn't help either
I believe its safe to say that perhaps your phones hardware got damaged somehow. It really sucks because had it been something else, you couldve used the wire trick to gain s-off and put your phones bootloader back on "locked" state. Ran the ruu and could've took it in for repair. My best guess is to take it to a non sprint repair shop and hopefully they will fix it for you. Good luck.
I'm already s-off. I didn't know this previously so I'll give that a go, thanks

Just to clarify, a usb port is the slot on your pc that you actually plug your usb cable into. Usb drivers are what you downloaded.Try running odin as administrator and use a different usb port on your pc. Odin can be tricky sometimes, give it a couple more tries.
