Hey guys,
I tired doing a little research and found some helpful stuff but still was a little confused. Time Infinity posted a link to the newest clockwork recovery in a thread earlier but it was not a flashable zip. I was wondering how i could take that latest clockwork recovery and make it into a flashable zip. Im not asking for someone to do it i would like to try and do it myself. Thanks a lot guys!
if I'm not mistaken clockwork recovery is what is used to flash, not the other way around.. I always odin the cwm tar files

well you know how they release updated clockwork mods that are flashable? I want to create a flashable clockwork mod update. Because i am still on 3.2 and apparently the most recent clockwork mod is 4.x something.
ah ok i gotcha, haven't heard of any 4.x clockwork though

Bump - I am trying to figure this out too.

Sorry, I am new so can't post in Dev forum. I know we having trouble downloading from Tenfar's source, it is really slow. Anyway I just finish downloaded and uploaded Tenfar's Flashable ZIP 2.3.4 HKTW ROM. I flashed it by using recoveries, and my phone can't get pass boot screen. Hope someone will try this with different result, so I can fix my.
Thanks!

Great work!
hah good job
I have cyanogenmod 7, but it's way to buggy. I need a clean install, but I recently dropped my phone in the pool and it won't connect via USB.... Is there a way to revert to stock JFD on my device? Maybe a flashable .zip? or a full restore? I dunno, i'm pretty desperate and my device is fully backed up on my PC.
Based on my understanding (which could be completely wrong), the answer is a long yes. CM7 uses clockwork 3.X, which uses edify scripting. All of our 2.2 & 2.1 flashable zips use amend scripting, which is not compatible with clockwork 3.X. So based on this you would have to change the scripting on a flashable zip with 2.2 or 2.1 on it to be able to apply it with clockwork 3.x (which I have no idea how you would do or where to start) or get clockwork 2.x on your CM7 rom (which I'm not sure is possible).
new charger port bro. we went over this last night
hahaha i know, right? but i'm not gonna pay fifty bucks to have someone fix it, and i can't do it myself..... I'm a software developer, not a hardware engineer.

Ok...Yep im a newbie and yep ive looked in the forums but im getting confused..
Phone :Samsung Galaxy s2 i9100 running 4,0.4 kernal version XWLPT.
Ive rooted the phone using the method 1 on this guide.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746794
Now im looking to install cyanogenmod but i dont want a bricked phone so was wondering if anyone cleverer then me can give me a quick guide of how to install as all of the guides are getting confusing lol
Cheers for you help in advance...
Now that you have rooted your phone, you can install CWM. CWM (short for ClockworkMod) is a custom recovery menu which allows you to install any custom ROM packaged as a zip file. Refer to part 2 in the tutorial you followed to install CWM. I'd also flash another kernel such as Siyah (thanks to gokhanmoral) to make sure you can't brick your phone. That stock kernel you have is dangerous and you must get rid of it before doing the data wipe required to install CM.
Once you've done that, grab a CyanogenMod build and install it from the CWM recovery. You should of course place the zip file on your internal storage first. Make sure to follow the instructions here.
By the way, there's a "Q&A" section for this device, so please try to ask your questions there, they should get answered faster and by more people if you do that.
Cheers tydem..i thought the kernel in mine was prone to bricking...ill flash the one that you recommeded and see how it goes
just to add to that.. do we have to update Modems as well? can we update them?
No.
Yes.

HI,
I have a galaxy player ( YP-G70CW - international ) that has had an Eryigit Rom installed for quite some time but it has never been very stable for me and constantly crashes and freezes! last week i decided enough was enough and i have decided to try some of the newer roms out now but for some reason i cant get anything to install from CWM recovery, i just get install aborted and error messages.
From Reading through the forum i have seen a few times that my ClockworkMod recovery v5.0.2.7 maybe outdated but cant find anyway to upgrade to Clockwork Mod v6.0.4.4 on the YP-G70....
Does this sound like my problem? is there an updated version of clockwork for the GP5.0? can any of the newer roms be installed by Odin? i have no issues installing things from Odin, should i be using Odin to upgrade to something else before i go to a 4.4 rom?
any help anyone can give me would be amazing, thanks in advance guys and girls

The thing that most people don't understand about recovery on the player 5.0 is that unlike a lot of other devices, recovery is in the kernel image. Ipso facto: flash a new kernel, get a new recovery.:good:
If your trying to get to KitKat, I suggest that you install an android 4.3.x ROM first. Make sure to read all of the dev's installation instructions and notes before flashing...:good:

Thanks very much for the reply, thats great information to have, I thought that would be the case but couldn't find anything in stone if you know what I mean.
anyways, no matter which kernel I install the CWM recovery seems to be the same, which kernel should I be installing, I have rj's custom kernel r14 right now, any suggestions?
Thanks again

Sultan v6 works great for me -Here's the link:

I am currently running Beekos PacMan ROM and I love it so far. I need a little help in flashing back to Viper before I go out of town. I was reading on MDMowers post about flashing back to an older ROM from the modded TWRP recovery. I am trying to install Viper back on my phone and use a recovery that is compatible with the apps2sd mod that is somewhere in the development section. Could someone help point me in the right direction or a quick explanation to what recovery I should use and which ones are compatible with apps2sd mod? I would really appreciate any help, info, links and of course your time.
Thanks In Advance!

To properly install Viper on this phone, you must use a TWRP recovery. CWM variants will appear to work, but Viper install scripts will not work properly. If you love CWM, then you can use TRWP to install Viper, then change recovery to CWM...
Anything TWRP v2.6.3.0 or higher should work with Viper (and I think the apps2sd mod as well). Official v2.6.3.0 link
You may be able to use mdmower's TWRP 2.7.1.2 build (or higher) for fireball "Standard partition layout". Mdmower Fireball TWRP page
I also suggest flashing the Infernal Kernel for improved performance (and swipe-2-wake)
Huge thanks for all the info, it was exactly what I needed.
