if it's a defect that isn't a direct result of damage or negligence, try getting a warranty replacement before you shell out the cash.

Yup. Verizon is pretty good about replacing devices that fail in any way as long as it isn't physically/neglectfully damaged.

I would definitely try it, worst comes to worst they tell you to go through asurion, but if it is a defect im sure they'll replace it...

I had the same issue with both the power button and the volume with my TB and I called 611 and told them.
I have TEC and they over night a replacement. I unrooted when I got the replacement and sent my broken one back. Just call them. They will replace it.
if that is your issue, call Verizon... I work for Asurion and they will charge you $89! If you call Verizon Tech Support they should be able to overnight you a replacement free of cost!
Yeah I called 611 and told them. The guy said he would send a replacement, except when I return mine there can't be any damage or I will have to pay 100..I told him I had a little chip on the bottom lip of the phone and he said i would most likely be charged.... that is ridiculous. Because I dropped this phone when I first got it I have to pay 100 because of a hardware malfunction...smh

I gave my phone to my bro he activated it then swapped it out at sprint if I call in for a replacement will his new esn get flagged? Or the previous esn that I gave him
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
This is fraud. Sprint WILL find out just give them a few weeks. Esn WILL get flagged and they will charge you full price on your account. Also, fraud shall not be discussed on xda
Haha, smooth.
dont know how you gave your phone to your brother and him activating it, since for him to do that you would have to activate another phone on your account to release that ESN so that he can activate it, and then if you want to claim insurance, the insurance would cover that new phone that is activated on your account.

You are asking for a bunch of trouble doing what you are thinking of doing. Its fraud, not to mention that the device will be charged to your account at full retail price! I have experienced a few customers that tried this before. Don't recommend it.
I can't answer the question but I know what you're trying to do is not worth the hassle in the long run.
Since this thread is talking about insurance I hope the OP doesn't mind me asking...
My wife's photon woke up in a puddle of baby shampoo.. We have no idea how it tipped over and spilled. But the damage is done. The speaker phone sounds awful and there's a question mark in the battery icon. If I take it to sprint will my insurance cover it?

either rip the sticker off, or get a new battery then take it in, they might not check for liquid damage so if the battery seems fine, they'll just run some BS diagnostic tests on it and so on.

The right answer is no...
BIUT you might be able to just walk in and add it. Maybe they wont ask to see the phone. Then I'd wait a few days before you did your claim.

If they let you add it, I don't think I would be concerned one way or another. Pretty sure that bby mobile usually hands you a phone off the shelf but it depends on your phone and service plan. I'm a little fuzzy since I was a geek squad agent instead of a mobile rep though

Just thought i would share my experience.
My charging port has been acting funny for a week or so. Last night it wasn't working at all. I called customer care to find out about a repair as I didn't want to exchange it. They told me about a warranty center not to far from me.
I took it in this morning, they looked it over and decided they couldn't repair it. So they gave me a brand new one. The lady saw cm10 and allowed me to put it back to stock so i wouldn't get charged.
AT&T customer service has come a long way in the years since I first had the service.

I had a very pleasant experience earlier today too. My situation is different cause I've only had my phone for a few days, but I had some stuck pixels & they exchanged it for a flawless one cheerfully & with no questions asked. Very impressed with AT&T so far, especially after all the bad things I've heard about them

I called CS yesterday about the charging issue and they are sending a replacement I'm just not sure I'd they will say these cracks are physical damage and charge me 549

They replaced mine for the cracks, then the next two for screen blobs. I handled everything over the phone. When asked if it was dropped I let them know it was a documented issue. They contacted Samsungwhile I waited on hold, Samsung confirme and att came back on the line and processed the exchange.

Wow thanks I'll get right on it. Lots of help.
Is there really no manufacturer warranty for this type of thing? I would hope so.
There is a one test manufacture warranty and they have to replace it for free because it's a manufacturing defect.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium HD app
VZW normally has a one year standard warranty against manufacturing defects, replacement will be a clnr if they have them, new if they dont, at $0.00 cost. Only time deductible applies is for abuse (broken phone, dropped cracked screen, water damaged) and lost/stolen phones.

Will AT&T warranty services replace my phone for a hardware defect?
I've had my phone since release and the glass is raised on the left. At first it was something I could deal with but it actually seems to be getting worse. I feel it every time I pull down for notifications.
It's been too long to get a replacement from the store I bought it from so I'm wondering if AT&T will help me.

One more time, since it seems it's never clear:
Warranty is for DEFECTS, like the gaps, raised screens, etc.
INSURANCE is for **** that you do to your phone, like a broken screen, liquid damage, fire, theft, etc.
AT&T covers your phone with a 1 year warranty regardless of if you have insurance or not. The insurance extends the warranty past the 1 year though.

I don't think you should do that. You said you called AT&T, but I was told by the repair department that going to a store and reporting your problem would get you a new phone.
That's not always the case. Every time I've gone to the store after the initial return period has expired, I'm told I have to deal with warranty services. In fact I have had sales reps in the store call them for me. Store reps have little to no power unless you are dealing with a store with a repair center on site. There isn't one of those within a hundred miles of me, so I just call warranty services.
Btw. New phone arrived yesterday and it doesn't have any problems.

Absolutely not. Maybe if it's a repair center (which are relatively rare), but outside of those shops all AT&T warranty work is done over the phone.
