Pretty sure the OP is using the Stock messaging app which shows a pop up on the lock screen with an incoming text.

that checks. I am just using the stock app that comes on it
Hmm... I didn't see an option in either the lock screens or the mms.apk to disable that.
EDIT: home screen > menu > settings > privacy
Uncheck the first option.

Hello,
Is there any way to get rid of that ******* hold button on freex10 . i have pressed it like numerous times and it wont take long before i really bang my head on the wall .
Can we replace the phone apk ( i dont know what it is really called , Dialer app?)
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Two things, is the proximity sensor on the phone working? IE, does the phone screen black out when u put it up to your face?? If NOT, that is the main issue.
Two, you can go into settings and change the layout of the dialer for left or right handed and move the hold button away from your face!
Hope this helps,
Chris

I did check many a times ... i don't have this option . don't know why.. and think there is no way to over-ride the stock dialer app which shows ON-CALL . i am i wrong here ?( i wish i am )
and why is my right handed/left handed setting is missing ? "confused"
Haven't run z's rom since first beta, but on other aosp based 2.2's its there n on my 6.1.1cm rom I just looked it up..... hmmm, I am stumped... hit android market, should have a dialer option or two!!

i can CONFIRM that the settings ARE in FreeX10 Beta 4.
Go to your homescreens -->> press menu -->> settings -->> call settings -->> check left-hand mode (2nd last before "other call settings") -->> reboot
I have the same problem with the same rom. Yesterday I lost half of my story because of this . Changing the settings is not an option because I tend to switch sides a lot during a call. Might try another dialer.

Menu -> Settings -> Call Settings -> Always use proximity!
Check that box and you are done.
No more hung up or put on hold!
Does anyone know if there's a way to disable the screen turning on when receiving an SMS? I would really like to disable this if at all possible.
not sure if it's what you're looking for but if you install sms popup (which is a fantastically simple app) it's one of the many options that you can configure ...
hope this helps ...
This didn't prevent the screen from turning on. The basic SMS app seems to still turn it on.

the way this normally works, is you install handcent which does have this option. then you go in and disable to stock messaging app completely, so that only handcent or your replacement choice controls text behavior.

What you'll notice is that even if you disable the notifications on a the standard messaging app, the app still runs in the background as it's also handling all the incoming DB writes from what I can tell. Samsung re-wrote the messaging app which always runs (and can't be removed) and in this app is the control to turn the screen on. That's why I can't figure out how to disable it without breaking SMS functionality altogether.

Might be a late reply, but did it work ? Trying to get an Mms.apk for Galaxy S1, that doesn't turn the screen on.
Not sure why but setcpu is asking for permissions like all the time. I see it all the time at the bottom of the screen
Setcpu has been granted superuser permissions
And one have any idea on why and how to fix this

It asks every minute, that's how it works, since SetCPU is always running and using root. You need to turn off show notifications in Superuser to make it stop displaying it.
In app, Settings (top right corner, not menu button) > Notifications > Uncheck the tick box for notifications.

It's probably the kernel your using. I just flashed the silver needle kernel by Net and now I keep getting Set CPU notifications. It's easy to to unchecke the notifications in SU app so no biggie. Previous kernel I flashed didn't have the issue though.

Agree, it's as ugly as it's useless (for me tho) :fingers-crossed:
If found the soulution
Just go to settings--> Homescreen-->Actionbar Design--> Disable
you should go settings--> Homescreen-->Actionbar Design--> Disable
Huh, thanks for the info, I'd never guess it's Actionbar Design.
I was searching something like Google Search bar or sth...
Slight update
Not sure if ADW has changed but it is actually in:
ADWSettings>Screen>Actionbar Design and then choose Disable
That worked thanks

Does anyone know how to simply set it back to the default google style? The only "awful" thing about it is that the actual searchable part of the bar is less than half the real-estate on the left-hand side, and then a large blank area for... no reason at all, then an utterly useless app-drawer button.
I just want a Google search bar, but running universally along the time like the action bar!!
thanks

I checked out the phone when it came out on AT&T. Call blocking was located right in the call log after long pressing the phone number. Am I missing something or did Verizon remove it? Anyone have any suggestions?

nah I'm VZW and I have it. I had to go looking for it though. It's now in Settings > Sound> Quiet Mode.
Works perfectly too. Just tested it out again to make sure
Originally, I couldn't find it, but then I clicked on the shortcut in my notification pulldown, which brought me to the full menu in settings. From there I set it up, and can now toggle it off/ on with the pulldown shortcut.
So happy this wasn't taken out
