I really have a hard time trying to differenciate between all these alpha/beta honeycombs. Im currently running vegan-tab RC1 and have no problems using CWM to get around roms.
Im still on 1.1, but what bennies do i get for updating to 1.2?
also, looking for a rom that has maximum support for BT keyboard, and mouse, USH Host media support, and the docking station.
Anyone wanna help me out and point me to the next Rom of Choice?
Im trying to keep myself from buying an Asus!!

No.......................
wait for the new Archos tablets...
thats my opinion
I love my gtablet but viewsonic has pretty much dropped support so youre not going to get much past Gingerbread unless some Devs have some serious breakthroughs
by that time though the new archos tabs will be out and who doesnt want a dual core 1.5GHz tablet running honeycomb??
It depends upon what you want. Personally, I stick with Cyanogen 7.0.3 because it runs Netflix and Hulu+. It is a little slow, but if you limit the number of apps you install, it works well.

Umm, hate to be the one to break it to you, but there are already several HC ROMs available. I'm running VEGAnComb on my G-Tablet, and it's very stable.
With that said, the ASUS Transformer and the Acer Iconia are both pretty darn slick, and way better than the G-Tablet out of the box. I bought my G-Tab just before the big price drop, so the Transformer is only about $20 more than what I paid for my tablet.

true but none of the roms have flash working properly and have their limitations compared to gingerbread
right now this goes for almost every version of HC out there on every tablet though so its understandable
as soon as netflix and hulu start working on a HC rom Im moving to HC
until then im sticking with CM7
Im trying to get vegantab working again with hulu and netflix, if I can do that and get a good zip file I will share and would definitely recommend using Vegan-Tab Ginger Edition... best ROM so far imo

Actually, you need to check the Bottle of Smoke and Flashback threads. Flash is working in the latest Opera.
ive checked out the threads and i thought it was flash in any browser.
so is it only in the stock browser that its not working right?
I also know you cant play HD youtube vids and other HD vids which I can do with CM7...
and still no netflix
The ASUS Transformer is cool, but it is not a compelling upgrade from a G-Tablet.
Both are 1GHz Tegra 2's. I have the Malata Dock and a Mini-USB keyboard, so essentially I have everything the Transformer has. (I have Wired Ethernet, which AFAIK even the Transformer with the Keyboard Dock does not).
If you want Honeycomb just to say you have Honeycomb, there are several HC firmwares on this forum.
If you want a FW that works, and has many Tablet/HC features, there are plenty of those, including a Cyanogen 7.1.0 official release that's just around the corner.
I'm not knocking the ASUS. It's really, really nice, and probably the coolest computing device out there right now. But unless you really just have too much money in your pocket, it's just not different enough to warrant being called an upgrade from a G-Tablet IMHO.
Thats what I was thinking until I got the Asus Things the gtablet will never have
-decent screen
-1gb ram
-gps
Plus HC is stable out of the box I never got it stable with the alphas. While I had some froyo builds that were fairly stable it was still less stable than the ASUS.
True, but you paid much, much more than I did for my gtab. My Lexus is also much nicer than a Toyota.
Only because its the 32GB model I returned a present at Fry's and had $108 credit. Plus whatever the gtablet sells for. So it cost about $300. Would have been $200 for the 16GB model. It cost me $400 for the gtablet.

Think about it this way. The Japanese people don't buy any car that's not Japanese made. That's why American companies can't sell in Japan. And it's a pretty darn big market over there.
Americans, on the other hand, are dumbasses that would rather buy foreign cars because they hate America. They go out and buy drugs to pocket those foreign drug lords. Heck, they don't even vote.
My philosophy is simple. I live in America. I'm an American citizen. My siblings and I are all engineers working for American engineering firms building everything from bridges to construction machineries to softwares that run them. I live and work here. And I love my fellow Americans. Why on Earth would I want to put my hard earned money in the pockets of foreigners who hate America?
Sure, I buy foreign stuff, but only insignificant things like my nephew's toys and the gtab. I find it sad that nowadays it's so goddamn hard to find computer parts not made in China... the same Chinese that regularly hack into our systems to steal technology.

Looks like B&N understand that they have something much bigger than an ereader.
I, for one, had not been interested in this device until I saw the posts here about it being rooted and being able to install other programs on it. I went out and bought it last night and will hold on to it until an easier root method is published.
Well of course they understand But since at $250 they're probably not making much, if any profit off the machine, they need to sell content and they have two options:
1) Close the machine off Amazon style and force people to buy content from you, or
2) Open the platform, hope more people buy your device and hope that translates into content sales (book, magazines, etc...) where the money is.
Seems like they're blending #1 and #2 but with a bit more #2... Pretty good for us.
Hopefully, the cooked ROMs will allow to access the stock B&N reading program as well. It's a bit slow at times but it's a pretty good reader with strong book management capabilities (shelves) and the magazines are pretty good too.
Don't mean to sound dumb, but what exactly is this a link for?
Hopefully the link is to the source code used to compile the Android OS on the Nook Color.
Maybe I will even finally compile me some Android.
At the very least it would seem that combining parts of this with AOSP 2.2 might yield one / several usable froyo kernels for the NC. Easy to say, definitely more complicated to actually do.

I like the device so much, alll I do is talk about how good it is and how it compares for the money.
I highly recommend it to everyone looking for a reader, that's capable of much more.
I'm surprised how many people are interested
I bought one yesterday and already have it rooted. Additionally, I have ADW Launcher, all of my favorite apps/games, DroidX keyboard, etc. I agree that this is easily one of the best values in the tablet segment. I'm really eager to see Android 2.2/2.3 though.
I got my Nook last week and use it quite a bit. I too agree it is the best tablet around, especially when you consider the price point. I'm using it now even with tapatalk. Most of my friends are probably tired if hearing me extol its virtues. Once Froyo or Gingerbread hits, along with bluetooth (if possible) this thing will be even more awesome.

Got one for my wife last week, rooted it right away and we both think it's great. It's the only tablet in the house and I'm using it more than she and considering buying another NC just for myself.
Perhaps I should just be patient with Honeycomb (supposedly) coming out early 2011, along with new devices designed specifically for a more tablet friendly OS. Does anyone question whether NC will be able to run Honeycomb?

The answer to honeycomb relies on two things (the way i see it):
1) We must be able to boot custom roms. From what i gather, alot of progress is being made there already, so i doubt that will be too much of an issue. If we can get a recovery option, and be able to do nandroid backups, it would be even safer.
2) The hardware must meet HC's specs. This is the real question mark - what kind of hardware will HC actually need? As it is, our tablets really aren't lacking in the hardware department, and a custom overclocked/undervolted kernel should really help (speed boost to 1.0-1.2). As it is, our A8 CPU and SGX530 GPU are no slouch (though yes, our GPU is weaker than top end gear), and the 512MB ram should really help performance. Again, it comes down to what custom kernels and roms can be cooked up for our hardware..

Hi,
I got one yesterday. Can’t open it until Christmas, since it’s my present from my wife. Anyway, when I bought it the clerk was talking about training. I told ther that the person that was getting it was very tech savvy. She said “They will get it home and hack it in about an hour. You know it can be hacked into a full tablet computer.”
This was from the cashier.

I have been watching this ColorNook development since they announced it coming to market.
Bought one 5 days ago after autonook was finished. For $250 it beats the market tablets hands down. Tethered it wirelessly to my Droid and I was in business.
Glad I made the leap. Rotting took less than an hour. Great job guys.
Thanks
The nook color is an awesome little device! I chose it over the galaxy tab, (it was way too expensive, & i didn't want another two year contract with sprint). It's crazy how much people on craigslist are charging for a tab, they get up to $600!, no thank you, i'm happy with my autonootered/rooted nook, & it didn't cost me an arm and a leg I recommend you guys pick one up, it's only gonna' get better.
Just ordered one although i was a bit hesitant after reading a lot of negative feedback on them. After further investigation it seemed as though most of the complaints were related to the factory software ?? ive done a bunch of reading and plan on modding it from day one. From what ive gathered you first load clockworkmod, then do a backup, then load your rom and lastly root if necessary (if the rom isnt already) only thing i havnt decided on is which rom. I see there are quite a few available here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=874258 but honestly i wouldnt mind some up to date opinions on which is working best.
And as the title asks, Do You Like Your Gtablet ??
Make sure you know what bootloader is on your G Tablet BEFORE you start flashing a new ROM! In the reading I have done to date, there are two different bootloader versions out there; 1.1 and 1.2. I thought I was good to go and started to install ClockWorkMod and Cyanogenmod 7 shortly after unboxing. Big mistake. It took a long, long time and tons of research before I was finally able to get it back to a working state.
The links below are a great place to start reading. The 4th link is a guide detailing the steps I went through to restore the G Tablet.

Personally I like the G Tablet. Sure, it might not have the polish of some of the "high end" tablets, but for the price I think it is a good deal. Of course the stock ROM leaves much to be desired.
Shortly after getting the G Tablet restored, I have been running roebeet's Brilliant Corners ROM with VTL.launcher. I like both alot.
Hope this helps. Have fun!

(if this helps, please consider clicking the "Thanks" button)
Well thats good to know about the bootloader, i hadnt noticed anything on that. Sounds like you just saved me a major headache.
I'll read all the links supplied, thanks for that. i dont mind doing my homework i just got to a point before there where i felt like i was going around and round in circles lol
I bought one of the flytouch 3's first and was kinda disappointed, it had decent functionality with the tim5a rom but the resistive screens are junk. The gtablet is the cheapest capacative touch 10" tablet i could find and paired with the tegra 2 gpu, 512mb ram and 16gb internal, not even mentioning the other options, it seemed like a steal at $269 with free shipping from tigerdirect.
Ill look into the roebeet's Brilliant Corners ROM with VTL.launcher and give that one a try, is that one of the most recently developed roms for this tab ?
Thanks again...
I agree, it is a good deal for the features included. I really don't have any medium or major complaints with a custom ROM installed. There are some minor things I would like to see improved, but those probably would have pushed the price up.
Brilliant Corners is fairly recent, the last build was on 5/20. It is froyo based, so it isn't the latest and greatest out there, but I find it highly useable and stable. There are newer honeycomb based ROMs available here on xda and at the links I sent in the last post. I tried a couple honeycomb versions, but at the time they didn't seem stable enough (the G Tablet was a birthday gift for my wife, so I could not afford periodic crashing/reboots).
To clarify; Brilliant Corners does not come with the VTL.launcher. I downloaded VTL.launcher here on xda (link below).
I would guess that your G Tablet will come with bootloader 1.2, but if it does come with 1.1 the list below has a link to another guide on upgrading from 1.1 to 1.2.

I have had my gtab for a few months and I enjoy it. have fun and try the different ROM's just be sure to learn how to use NVflash it will be your freind. and there are many helpful people here with alot of knowlage always do a search in the forum many questions have an answer already
I like mine, but dislike the display intensely.
It it what it is, a now somewhat dated (yes, 9 months is forever in the tech world) first generation tegra-2 android tablet with NO manufacturer support.
For $200 or so, it's a not a bad way to PLAY with android tablets, and if you like hacking/modding its a good platform for that.
If you could get a well-supported Honeycomb-based tablet with similar specs and a real display, for $100 more, you'd be nuts not to do so.
I'm running gtabcomb (Honeycomb) on mine. And I really do like it, and use it daily. I guess I didn't really expect to use it as much as I am, because if I did, I would have paid the extra $100 or so and gotten something with a better display.
I like mine as well. I'm running Flashback at the moment. I had gotten mine used off from eBay with Bottle of Smoke on it. I flashed it back to stock and immediately found out why everyone complained about it.
I've tried the ASOP gHarmony GB and really like that one as well, though I've been unable to get the latest loaded.
For me the tablet is great because I like to tinker with it. Last weekend I told my wife, "I'm going to load a new ROM onto my tablet." She asked, "Why?" I didn't have a good answer for her as it seemed seemed self-explanatory.
If someone doesn't want to fiddle with the thing I wouldn't recommend it (thought it is years ahead of the ZT-180 that I had before this! )

I am currently in love with GtabComb.
I have used several ROMs since over the past 6 months. To me GtabComb feels like a much smoother experience, more responsive to touch scrolling on the home screen and within apps. Really, now that I have my hands on Honeycomb, I just can't go back to Froyo-based ROMs.
While it currently lacks hardware acceleration, which some say would provide better video playback (and gaming, not important to me), I have found the video on GtabComb more than acceptable.
I have only had a few problems with apps loading or installing, but no showstoppers. I don't even remember which apps were issues.
The camera does not work, but since Skype video is not available for any ROM, and other other video chatting solutions do not provide a usable experience for me, this is also not a showstopper.
Have fun!
I like mine.
Mine is great!
Played with a display model at office depot and immediately ordered one (store was out of stock). Been happy with it ever since. The stock software is really bad. I tried out several ROMS and eventually settled with gtabcomb3.2. Once you try Honeycomb, it's hard to go back. My 2cents worth.

i said IF... staples recently had a $100 off any tablet deal that put several of the mid-$400 tablets right in that pricepoint.
Edit: for example, http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...440-with-free-shipping-from-ebay-daily-deals/
Current deal on a new 32GB wifi xoom: $440. Shipped Free. That's within spitting distance of $100 more than the $280 I spent on my gtab. $160 more, might still be worth it. Likely most of these "late first gen/early 2nd gen" tablets with full Honeycomb support will be heading to the $300-$400 pricepoint in the next few months.

I got ya, i would love to see the xoom's and galaxy tabs come down below $400 but i dont see that happening right off. Not with the cell phone companies using them as leverage to get you to sign a two year contract.
Besides by the time the price comes down there will be something better available again, its a vicious cycle !
Gtab is suppose to be here today, cant wait to try it out !
I like my gtab so far but i have only had it a few days. I have tried several roms so far and i am currently running bottle of smoke and i have to say i like the HC experience better than froyo. Camera wasnt a big deal for me, I got flash and Netflix working so I'm a happy camper.
I have had mine a few days too now and i must say im pretty impressed. The screen sensitivity is great and multitouch works excellent. The image quality is great and ive experienced no lag from the dual core gpu.
Im running brilliant corners (froyo) and its very, very stable, not a single force close on any program. Everything works perfectly, netflix and the market worked right out of the box with bc. I had some issues with games initially, like asphalt hd but thats a vendor problem not the rom or gtab.
I do love my 2 gtabs! 1 is in VEGAn, 1 in GtabComb beta 3.3.
Got them from tigerdirect.com, for $269 a piece. What a steal, and just perfect for my kids! Then bought the Fuse cases, from electroniccrap.com, for $30 a piece. They fit nicely!
I like mine. Running gtabcomb 3.3. I think I still prefer the Asus transformer and probably should have shelled out the extra $100. It is nice having a USB port for flash drives though.

yeah my gtab surpasses most tablets out now and it was around half of the price! but I would rather have the moto xoom but i am happy with my gtab
I've had my gtab for a little over a month and I'm pretty happy with it. I think like most others on this site that I appreciate the fact that you can play with it and try other ROMs and just tinker with it. It's not a Cadillac gets me where I want to go. Only complaint is in the video playing. Hopefully can get that resolved. I'm thinking of buying another one for my wife.
This is probably a dumb question in the wrong section but are there any reasons outside of something like a locked boot-loader that Android couldn't be compiled to run on the HP touchpad tablet?
I was just wondering the same thing. The CPU is a SnapDragon so the hardware at least has the potential to work...
I would imagine that it would be quite difficult because you would need to build your own kernel and custom version of android.

Im not a Developer or anything but I would Assume that we Can wait for a Honeycomb Tablet to come out with Similar specs (I.E Same Processor and Ram) and port a Version of that to the TouchPad. It should work if Running HC 3.2 since it supports different Screen sizes too. I would assume only minor tweaking would be needed. But thats just me Guessing.
Sorry but I was thinking the opposite. I would kill to get WebOS running on my new Moto Photon!

I think this is going to become a much more important question, now that HP is getting out of the consumer hardware business and WebOS is going to become unsupported very soon. I think a dual-core snapdragon would be more that enough to run 2.3, and the aspect ratio (4:3) makes it a lot more attractive to me than the existing 16:10 stable of Honeycomb tablets.
If the source code for Ice Cream Sandwich is released to the public, hopefully this can happen. For now though I hope someone will be interested enough to pick up a cut-rate Touchpad (prices are likely to plummet now that Retailers will be dying to offload them) and attempt to get CM7 on it.

use the modem-less AP8060 that the touchpad uses. they would be the target candidates to port to touchpad. could maybe do boot ->boot like IOS jailbreak where you strap webos to boot android.
Since AP8060 is SOC (all in one) - good chance of this working.
I would put up some cash to see this happen... really would... WebOS is nice.. the Hardware is nice.. but AS IT IS... is as it will be and it just doesnt have enough in it for me to enjoy it. I really hope someone can get Android on those Touchpads. The big box retailers are dumping them right now. 16GB for $99.99 and 32GB for $149.99.
i know its not related but since its being sold for 99$im thinking of buying it the only question is that does it run divx movies without converting
id donate $20 towards this
The 16gb in Canada is going for $99....well worth it if a port was possible or in the near future!!!
http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/19/let-the-liquidation-begin-hps-16gb-touchpad-on-sale-for-99/
It was possible with the HD2, with a little effort, Android will become possible!
someone please port android to this device!
What is the over-under on this getting Android? Is it worth a poor man's money?
I'm veerrryyyy interested too! This would be awesome.

I would want something with Android... that is my main concern. So, you think that it will get a port?
I love it.
I had some second guessing when I first picked it up but I am more than happy with my purchase now. There was two main reasons I wanted to replace my touchpad:
1. Aspect ratio: Probably 75% of the time I used my touchpad was for watching netflix or youtube and the widescreen on the transformer is a million times better.
2. Wifi: Wifi on the touchpad is horrible, it's super spotty and would constantly drop the connection. It's not just mine either, if you do a search for touchpad wifi problems you'll find dozens of threads. It's really slow for whatever reason too, for comparison I average 6-8Mbps on my touchpad while on the same connection my transformer gets 25-30Mbps.
I guess the touchpad wasn't too bad for $100 but I'm liking the transformer a whole lot more so far.
So this is a thread about your HP Touchpad.....
GTFO
Sounds like a thread about him dissing his HP Touchpad. It's not so much on topic, but it is amusing.

Well, if read carefully, the thread is about the person preferring their NEW TRANSFORMER over their OLD TOUCHPAD. Some better grammar on the OPs part would have helped here, however.

Glad you like the new Transformer!!!
OP meant TF, I'm sure. Its amazing with the flood of devices this summer and the bigger prices how in just a few months with the poor sales or problems how big companies tablets like the Playbook, Touchpad, Dell Streak, HTC Flyer, and even the Xoom, have discontinued or deeply slashed prices.

Then sell it. I paid 100 bucks for mine like many of us here did. Nothing to complain about. 8mbps internet speed on a tablet non PC is perfectly fine....the os does not support gaming like your desktop may do. Lets get real here. This thread is all kinds of fail. A tablet at this age and infancy is seriously a convenience personal or small business toy.

he's complaining about android on a device which doesnt natively run android
...on an alpha. And costs 3-4x less than his TF101
yes the TF101 is probably better. I would gladly trade my Touchpad for it, but look at the prices and where the Android port is at right now
The wifi is spotty?
ITS AN ALPHA BUILD ;_;
Give it a couple more months, android will run a lot better on the touchpad.

I'd gladly take the touchpad off your hands for 100$ =P
I absolutely love my touchpad. I've had no wifi issues at all. But I left mine on webOS, see no reason to try a buggy phone version on Android. I will gladly try a buggy ICS build, but gingerbread has no appeal to me when I have it on my phone.
webOS seems extremely underrated. Its so intuitive ans easy to use. The browser is fast and renders everything great.
Yeah, I'd swap it for a transformer, xoom, or galaxy tab 10". But for the price (I paid $200 for a 16), it can't be beat.

Yup its polished at the webOS side l. If only android has the same screen guestures thing then it will be perfect.
I, for one, would stay with webos if it included a good web browser. My chief complaint has been the browser from day 1 along with the lack of a back button function. Otherwise, webos is a polished OS that performs much faster and smoother, IMHO, than android. While I can hope that Meg will see the light and keep HP active with webos development, the actions of HP in the last 2 months lead me to believe it's a dead end. I still work with webos and android daily on the TP and look forward to good things with an ICS port in the near future.
The touchpad is still the best investment I have made in quite some time.

the aspect ratio may suck for movies... but it's AWESOME for reading books, comics, and mangas. not everyone prefers to watch netflix/movies/youtube on a 10" screen over their TV/PC
I bought my TouchPad with the full intention of running CM7 as soon as I got my hands on it. After all, I am an Android addict, and all my past and current phones have been heavily tampered with to void warranty on day 1.
However, even after two weeks of purchasing the TouchPad, I am still with the WebOS without any desire to move to CM7 any time soon. Maybe I'll get there when CM9 is available.
Here is my question, I'm looking for a really good tablet with great battery life and I wanted to get the Vibrant community's opinion as to which is the best.
Please refrain from posting about apple products I simply do not like apple as a company and refuse to give them my business.
I would appreciate it if in addition to your selection you could tell me your reason for feeling why its the best.
- Cheers
I picked up an Asus Transformer (OG-not the Prime) a few weeks ago at Best Buy for $399 (Bob Shute almost convinced me to get the Nook Color though). It was the 32gb on sale for the same price as the 16gb (so why not) + it has external, so i have 64+/-gb of storage. I had lurked in a bunch of forums checking out support, ROMs, rootable, "official" ICS and general attitude of the forum members.
When I got it out of the box it was running 3.1 and I had known that it had an OTA update waiting. Within 30mins of getting it, I had upgraded, Rooted and was on my way to being a tablet owner. It was real easy to do too. The battery life on 3.2.1 was really good. Granted I am not using it all day long but I was getting about 2-4 days out of it. Kids would play games, watch Netflix, I would surf and my wife would do her coupon spreadsheets (yes she is one of those ladies and we do have a stockpile).
Fast forward to the ICS update. We got the OTA update and for some reason there is an issue with the kernel and people are getting random reboots. I am not sure if it is just me knowing what I am doing from so many tweaks with this phone and past ones or I just got a good tablet, but I messed with the governors and it has been 3 weeks since upgrade and I haven't had one yet. Knowledge is Power. Felt you should be aware of that though. Battery life on ICS is outstanding. I get 4-6 days out of it easily. Might cut it down now that baseball spring training has started and I can stream live video to it.
Conclusion- A few things. The Transformer (tf101) is just as good as the Prime (tf201) and actually I think it is better b/c the Prime has wifi, GPS and other hardward issues, but its bootloader can be unlocked whereas the tf101 is still lock for now. Another things is that you have to remember that these are seconday devices to most people and some of the redundant questions you see are rediculous.
My suggestion is to lurk in the Acer, Transformer, Galaxy, Xoom forums and see what is going on in them. Plus there are a bunch of smaller tablets coming out soon with Tegra3, Quad-core, low price,...
HTH and let me know if you have any Q's and sorry for the long post.
what do you want to do with this tablet?
I know you said not to mention any apple products but...
seriously dude even the iPad 2 is better than any android tablet out right now. iPad (third generation) just killed everything else. I know you don't like apple as a company but the iPad is pretty much the tablet market, the only tablet one should be getting. You're going to regret it if you don't get an iPad...

Ill be using the tablet for school mostly. Ill have about 100 lbs of books that id rather not have to carry with me everywhere. Ill also be using the tablet for light gaming just to keep me entertained from time to time as well as serving to replace my laptop for day to day tasks. Granted i know not everything can be accomplished by a tablet so ill still have my laptop at my apartment but need something light and portable but capable so i was thinking tablet.
As far as no apple products, they seem to hate me, i touch one and they seem to break they dont function properly and im honestly not convinced that they are the best product on the market. Their Marketing department tries to convince you of that but i hardly agree. (i wont get into it i don't want this to turn into a flame thread) regardless thank you for your input.
Ive been looking alot at the Transformer and TF Prime as well as the 10.1 inch samsung variants, but since i have ICS running on my Vibrant id very much like to have it running on my Tablet, i intend to run stock for a while until stable versions of either CM9 or AOKP are released for the device since i will be using it in a more productive than leisurely role.
@ woodrube thank you for the length of your post i appreciate the time you put into your response
@junglerumble thank you for your input, tho i whole heartily disagree with you (to each their own)
does anybody have an idea of the android tablets that are coming out in the first half of this year and when? I want to get a tablet but not at the moment. I'm waiting till more tablets come out to make up my mind but it would be nice to have some foresight.

I use an iPad 2 exclusively for classwork and I half regret the purchase, even after the jailbreaking and app searching. It's a good tablet, but it's not a deity.

Transformers have the keyboard dock too with independent battery in case you want that laptop thing going on. I love my TF and am happy I bought it. There are a couple of us who have the TFs like Alex9090, Mveksler, Gorealmighty and Manus I think.
I would wait til the Asus 3 comes out tegra 3 for the price of the og transformer

I used several different Android Honeycomb tablets, but gave up on all of them because I felt the software weren't advance enough for my purposes, so I got a Windows tablet instead. Then sold that and got the Galaxy Note (international version) which I think is the best consumer portable device made so far, since it acts as a phone and tablet, has the same resolution as the tablets (1280x800, and is even (much) faster than Tegra2, yet pocketable, has Wacom pen, can make phone calls and ultra fast GPS locking, awesome camera), although I didn't keep it since it doesn't support T-Mobile 3G.
Out of the Honeycomb tablets, I liked the Acer A500 and Toshiba Thrive most since it has fullsize USB connector, which works with flash drive and gamepads. I think the Asus Slider should be better since it has fullsize USB and keyboard as well, just a bit heavier. I do not feel tablets with Tegra2 is fast enough to handle 'higher' bitrates HD contents and MKV videos, although other purposes are fine, regular HD video should be okay. I also feel all Android tablets are overpriced for their present software features, unless at refurb price, if it were Ubuntu or some full fledged linux distro I'd be more interested. Which is why I think Windows 8 tablets will have some success, even though I'm not interested in Windows 8.
+1 OG Transformer. Great device

I want to thank everyone for their responses, after spending some time playing with the devices in store and reading through the developer forums I have decided on getting the TF prime, just seemed to blow everything else outta the water once all the tablets had 100+ apps installed and running live wall papers. Luckily i was able to find one at a local retailer since everywhere else was sold out.
I was so close (money in hand) to buying the Galaxy 10.1 but after reading this I decided on the TF201.
Darn near ever place Ive looked is out of stock though.
addition:
It didn't take much for me to switch. After this phone and its total lack of support, I try to stay clear of anything that has Samsung on it.
Thus far I have to say that my impressions of the tfp are extremely favorable so far I have experienced none of the recorded issues with the tablet save maybe the GPS but I have yet to test it outdoors the stock ics keyboard is far better than I expected on the tablet
I will update more as I have more time and experience with the tablet if so desired

I saw that due to the GPS issues they no longer advertise the tab has a GPS. Imagine if Samsung was forced to do the same for our phone's crummy GPS.
Id expect similar GPS to our phones. I ended up buying a real nice Tom-Tom GPS for my car so the phone GPS is bout always off now.

If and when it comes time to Root your device (I did it within 30mins of having it) You can use ViperMod and install Supercurio's OTA Rootkeeper and any updates you get, just open the Rootkeeper up and restore root. Handy little app if I do say so.
I recently purchased a Transformer Prime with the keyboard doc and I have no regrets. It's awsome. I've not experienced any of the GPS/hardware issues mentioned either.
