Screenshots without Pen - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

Just saw this on another site and was glad there's a way to natively take screenshots without using the pen.
Just press and hold Power then press Home right after. Screenshot taken.
Found here: http://www.goodandevo.net/2011/06/how-to-take-screenshots-on-htc-evo-view-4g.html

That's awesome. Why isn't this on all HTC devices.

Suggestion: Alternate uses for the 3D Switch

No doubt it would require full root access, but it'd be very useful if the 3D Switch had a function outside of camera mode. One thought I had would be as a silent/vibrate toggle as found on the iphone. But that's a far cry from all the potential uses for it.

+1
I was thinking maybe the camera button could be used for screenshots? That would be pretty awesome.

maybe autobrightness and a user defined level would be sweet. also Setting up the camera button to do other things especially because its a dual stage button! we could have perform 2 seperate functions!
Any updates on this? Just got the 3d and I have miui running. The switch is now literally pointless. Any way we could make it a vibrate/sound toggle? Wifi on/off switch? Customizable switch? I just want all of my buttons to have a point in being a button.
Would it be possible to do with one of those Remap button apps?

With MIUI, press volume down + menu for screen shot!
I realize I'm about to stray into the wild crazy world of 'off topic' but here's a few other MIUI tips!

I don't remember exactly, but it's home and power button or something like that to take screenshot. I know that it is power button and another button in combination.
hold down the power button, before the screen comes up that asks you to reboot or power off, hit the home button... only need to wait like 1 sec before you hit the home button.
Works thanks a mil

How do we take a screenshot with ICS then?
Is there a built in native function?
It is my understanding that sony did not put the screenshot feature into their build of ICS. I have not found a really good screenshot app yet, but if/when I do, I will keep you posted. Btw were you part of the psp scene? Any suggestions on a good screenshot app that works with the tablet s?

Simultaneously press and hold the tablet's POWER and VOL- buttons. After a couple of seconds and the screenshot image is momentarily displayed, release the buttons. It's a bit tricky to do, but after a few tries, you'll get the hang of it. The screenshots are stored in /sdcard/Pictures/Screenshots.
Thanks Cat! I found this right after I posted, thanks for the info! I am glad to see the screenshot is a feature os sony's ICS. Thanks.
Thanks Cat McGowan !
Now to post my homescreens !
You can press the power-button longer and press on "ScreenShot"

I tried that and all I get is the Power Off pop-up.
It is only working on CM 9 based roms

Screen capture on ics?

Im using flapjaxx stock ics rom and for some reason i cannot do a screen capture? I had no problems on GB all i had to do was push power and home. Ive tried power + home, power + volume buttons, power + menu nothing works. Anyone else having any luck?
The karate chop method works fine for me. Take the blade of your hand and swipe left to right across the screen.
Others have had success swiping it across their forehead. Seriously.

Or use the s-pen method. Hold the button down on the pen and then touch the screen and continue for about 2 seconds until capture is successful.
I always use the s-pen to take a screen shot. I have YET to get the karate chop method down.

Just did swipe method or karate chop and that works wonders but home and power key still work on mine and my 2 friends notes.

Chop, home+power, s-pen all work on mine using flappjaxxx rom

Me, too. I've tested all the 3 ways to capture. And all the methods worked well. Oh, I had to hold power+home for a little bit longer time to process tho. I normally use s-pen to capture because I wub doodling my screenshots... -_-;;

Wacom Bamboo is amazing on our Notes!

And free for us Notes!

Works pretty good. I made this my default note taking app with the quick launch. Watched the video then tried the app... I guess having the ability for creating more/different notebooks is only an iOS feature for now

Nice find, but how the heck do you exit it? Hitting home key seems to be the only way, no settings menu besides the type of pen button?

seems like a pretty limited note application compared to GNote, S-Memo, Papyrus...and smells of lazy iOS port as well...I'll stick with one of the others for now, but thanks for pointing it out
Hopefully it's going to have more options. Like somene said before others have way more options, s memo being pretty much the best but for us that are running custom roms it doesnt work.
