I was wondering if there any users with the Flyer/View that also have the galaxy tab that can give us a good comparison review. I have been looking on google at the few reviews that are out there and they are all over the place. A couple of the reviews mention the flyer getting sluggish when running several apps. All of the reviews seem to have been done using sense 2.1. I didn't see any type of performance review using a different launcher on the flyer like ADW EX. Really like how the flyer looked compared to the galaxy tab but I was wondering if it was worth giving up root access and all the custom rom's/themes/hacks/tweaks that are available for the galaxy tab.
Yes i've used the galaxy tab for 6 months before i bought the flyer.I really liked the tab but the flyer is much faster en the touchscreen is way better i think. Also the sense launcher on the flyer is great! On my tab i used launcher pro and i've tried it on my flyer but sense is better on the flyer.I do not have any problems running several apps at the same time.It always works flawlessly! On the tab when i opened the photogallery it took a while to load the photos,on the flyer you see the photos within 3 seconds or so.I loved the tab but the flyer is better.

Also obvious the Flyer has a Wacom digitiser. This also means you have a Notes, Office and PDF app that can make use of stylus input.
I thought the battery life of the Flyer was better, but with the latest Tab update the battery life has improved. Finally, I prefer the HTC Sense UI over the Samsung overlay over Android.
I've had my Evo View for a week and it feels like the next generation of Galaxy Tab. More fits on the screen, its faster and has much more memory than the Tab.

Galaxy tab is light but feels cheap. Flyer is a little heavey and difficult to hold unless I put it in a case. Overall, I like Flyer better.
i dont have the samsung Galaxy but I try it at shop (BQ Da vinci too) and I like both. Money, money, money...
But finally, I decide buy the Flyer... and at the moment im really happy for it.
The flyer is really expensive but is a great product : D: D: D
I also have both the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7/3G and the HTC Evo View 4g...
Given that 7 months is considered an eternity in today's rapidly advancing gadget world, it goes without saying that the HTC Evo View is a considerably superior tablet device when compared to the Galaxy Tab 7.
Little things that always annoyed me about my Galaxy Tab 7, like the longish boot times and somewhat sluggish screen transitions (I'm using Launcher Pro+ on both), are completely rectified on my Evo View.
Personally, I have no interest in HTC's Sense homescreen replacement (it waste too much screen real-estate), but I absolutely prefer the work they've done on the associated apps to make them much more tablet-friendly, all of of which work so well that I actually prefer them to those on my Honeycomb-based Motorola Xoom or Asus Transformer, and certainly over what Samsung did on the Galaxy Tab 7.
As far as concerns of 'sluggishness' on the Evo View, I have yet to experience any, and I've had the device since the day it went on sale, using it for hours each day.
Additionally, I initially tried several different HS replacements when I bought my Evo View (including ADW EX. Go Launcher, et al) and found Launcher Pro+ to offer the best compromise between performance and features.
All things considered, the HTC Evo View is easily the best 7 inch tablet currently on the market, with great build-quality, exceptional ergonomics, a speedy processor, expertly developed tablet-centric apps, and surprisingly good battery life - It's a winner!

It truly is a LOVE/HATE relationship. N-Trig is nowhere near as accurate or smooth as Wacom, but the price and battery savings weigh in its favor. If I am slow and steady with the pen and THINK about what I am writing, the N-Trig is acceptable. If I hurry, like trying to take notes during a telephone conversation, it skips letters, vectors, and is generally a PITA. That's when I really miss my HP 2740p convertible Tablet PC with Wacom.

I like them both. In fact, I had sold my original Tab and bought a new one, which I received today. It was rooted and flashed as soon as I could download the files needed. The Flyer has a faster processor, but my Tab runs just as fast running Overcome's Gingerbread OC'd to 1.4. I would honestly give the nod to the Tab at this moment because it is leaps and bounds beyond the Flyer on the development side. I am happy with the Flyer as it is, but once there is a HC port or official release, it will be the perfect tablet. The 7" form factor is the absolute best. For what it is worth, the Tab OC'd to 1.4 hits right around 2100 on the Quadrant scores and the Flyer right around 1900. Like I said, for what it is worth.
Netflix works on Tab but not on the Flyer.

In addition to my above post:
The Tab plays my ripped blu-rays (1080/mp4) perfectly fine and smooth! I get an error on the Flyer with the same micro sd card and the same movie files about the file type not being supported.
I like the keyboard on the Flyer more from an auto-correct standpoint. Typing is equally good on both otherwise.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I was very wary of anything samsung after an experience with a bad Epic. But I was willing to get the galaxy tab. I got the HTC View instead. So far I am liking it but I gotta say that I am tempted to return it and get the tab instead. I am sorely missing being rooted.

Since you already have the View, jump into the Marketplace and find yourself a decently priced Tab. I do find myself using the Tab a lot more. Just last night I flashed the newest version of Overcome.

So,
I've read reviews and tech specs and on paper at least the flyer seems to outwit the galaxy tab, which is the only other real contender.
So as my sig says, I've had a desire for ages now and think its the best thing since latex! So I am heavily bias towards getting another HTC.
BUT .....................
With a lack of Dev interest, and still tentatively waiting on any kind of official HTC unlocking of bootloaders, is it still a better choice to go with than the well established dev community for the galaxy tab?
An a few questions for peeps already using the flyer, is it possible at all to do HDMI mirroring or at least HDMI video playback? An can you access the internal memory as a flash drive as you would with the desire?
Many thanks in advance.
Sent from my melting desire using plastic smoke signals and xda mobile.
There is a Flyer versus Galaxy Tab 10.1 thread in this subforum, so you should check that out. Although the GT 10.1 is a much larger form factor, and running Honeycomb. So not quite the same comparison you are talking about, with the 1st gen Galaxy Tab's 7-inch form factor and existing developer community.
I too am a strong supporter of HTC (on my 3rd HTC phone), and that is one of the main reasons I got the Flyer. I haven't checked out what the Gingerbread update for the 1st gen Galaxy Tab is like, or custom ROMs. But the stock Flyer experience is much more polished than the GT stock Froyo ROM. Plus, the Flyer has higher CPU and memory specs.
I'm a bit concerned about developer interest as well. Hopefully, things will ramp up, the device is still very new. Not sure if its the locked bootloader, HTC's stronger protections against rooting on more recent products, or an increasingly crowded tablet market, that is slowing up developer interest. But I'm still keeping my fingers crossed . . .
Why not wait a couple of months for the 10" HTC tablet, the bigger brother of the Flyer?
7" tablets are for different use than the 10" devices, just like the difference between netbook and 15" laptop.
for HDMI you will need to purchase an additional cable http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=209996
I have bee fooling around with the Flyer since monday and I am extremely happy with it. The thre main uses are: reading while commuting - most time in Pulse/Reader, using the Notes and Email app in meetings at work and reading and media consumption back home.
The 7 inch form factor is real win for most uses except for couch surfing. Sitting the tablet on my lap I would not mind the extra realestate of the 10 inch tablet. Sense makes me pretty much forget I am not using Honeycomb specific apps.
I wouldn't mind the Flyer being a bit lighter.
Overall I give the Flyer a big thumbs up. And I still consider the flyer a novelty that will attract the developer crowd eventually.

I totally agree with you ! a 7" tablets is the best choice for mobility, and Flyer is the one!
I have been trying all the tablets, but at the end of the day, if you are on the move and need portability, the flyer is the way to go. If you are just couch surfing, then get a 10".
I have been using my flyer for everything from couch surfing, to taking notes in meetings. It works very well, and is very reliable. It's my favorite tablet, and a keeper.

One thing to consider is that the 7" Tab is not likely to see much updating from Samsung in the future, my guess is that in their eyes it's EOL. They have new machines to support.
However there is a strong dev community for it and they will likely make improvements for a long time. That being said, it may never make the jump to Honeycomb or Ice Cream Sandwich.
The Flyer, being new, is just starting it's vendor support life cycle and they SAY it will be upgraded to at least Honeycomb (no firm date, but at least they are saying it will be).
If they do unlock the boot-loader, which would most likely happen during a major update I would think (keep it locked until the HC upgrade to make it easier on tech support maybe?), the Flyer may end up being a highly supported device, just because it's one of the few 7" machines out there.
I very much considered the Tab, even had it in my Amazon cart for a while before deciding that I wanted to buy the Flyer. Would have preferred to spend less, but I'll likely use it for a number of years so $500 vs $350 isn't much of a problem. I needed a 7" screen for portability and I've been very happy with it so far.
Several reasons for Flyer over GT 7. Better processor, Better Screen (Super LCD vs TFT), Sense, Pen integration (don't spend $80, get a Fujitsu one for $30.) It is flat out faster in use. Better Rear camera. Stronger case. Longer support life. Def worth the $150 difference.
I have a Flyer but it is going back. I've enjoyed it for a week now but it's not satisfying me 100%.
Coming from a Galaxy S phone with much better codec support out of the box, the Flyer is disappointing. At least there's Mobo player.
No way to Bluetooth tether since Android hates adhoc networks, annoying (even though the Transformer apparently does BT tether).
Very nice device and the form factor is nice, nearly perfect, but at $500 plus tax I expected a bit more satisfaction.
So far the only thing I am missing is the phone.
Is it possible to add the HTC Phone into the Flyer by an firmware upgrade ?
I also am considering the Flyer just waiting for a price drop or if I can save enough for it. Few questions however:
1. Does the flyer do hdmi mirroring or just video playback?
2. Are the games user friendly from onlive ?
3. What type of movies aren't playing well? I really don't need the highest quality movies as long as its decent quality I'm ok with that?
4. Also is the notes app well developed im an engineer student so the idea of taking notes during a class like dynamics or controls writing hints and drawing diagrams on slides
Sounds very appealing. How well would that notes app work if I'm constantly writing?
I was looking at the galaxy tab but it seems to lack external ports such as usb microsd slot and hdmi. I'm a big hdmi user so thar automatically cancels any tablet for me if I can't use hdmi mirroring.
So I'm also curious about the Ee pad memo and the webos touchpad. Does anyone know if the touchpad and eepad memo will have hdmi mirroring thru cable or will an external port be needed?

Personally... if the Flyer was released @ the same time as the Desire HD I'd have picked it up in a heart beat.
But with Dual Core comming up....
I'd say wait till HTC nxt offering.
I recently bought the Flyer along with the Playbook and iPad 2. Having them together was the easiest way to compare for me. The Playbook killed the Flyer in all categories for me with the exception of app selection and quality. I literally only found 5 apps that I wanted to download. The Flyer performed pretty well with the exception of many FC. HTC Watch adds a cool way to purchase content. The cam and especially video recording was not nearly as good as the PB, but better than the iPad in that dept.
In the end I kept the iPad 2. For me it was the biggest bang for the same money. There's a crazy amount of high quality apps like Hulu, Netflix and tons of solid games. I use my tablets at home for web browsing and at work for watching videos and listening to podcasts on my breaks. The larger screen is much better for me, but there is something to be said for the portable nature of the smaller screen. If the price was lower on the Flyer and included the pen for the wifi only version I'd recommend it highly, but the pricing with the pen is seriously too high. Sense 3.0 is pretty fantastic, but reminds me of a bigger version of my Evo.
I'm an Android phone user/lover but I have yet to find an Android tablet that does it for me.

Actually, it's Sense 2.1, not 3.0.
I have now had the flyer for 4 days now and I owned every tablet on the market, and the Flyer is bar-none the best I have used.
I wouldn't sell this things for a $1000, I love the Flyer. Is very underrated in every way, plus the performance wipes other tablets *** thus far.

Or does the Flyer have Sense 2.1 with some 3.0 features?

I got a HP Touchpad for $299 which was a deal before they were discontinued. I returned it after the big announcement. I'm using a wifi G-Tab 10.1 temporarily until the 32GB 3G version finally gets launched in the UK which is now supposed to be early October. I tried the HTC Jetstream but it weighs a ton and the video implementation is pitiful so I returned it. The G-Tab is executed well, has great video support, is reasonably quick, and is thin and light. Until something revolutionary comes along in a 10" inch size, that's what I'm going to stick with.

I want an iPad 2.
Looking to get the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer, having read many reviews this tablet appears to be the best of them all, the new 10.1 Galaxy Tab looks very slick but is vastly overpriced and having no USB port is a big no no, the Motorola Xoom also looks nice but again vastly overpriced, the fact that the keyboard dock on the transformer adds another 9 hours battery life is superb, im looking at possibly selling my laptop and then buying the transformer.
Needless to say i wouldn't be buying an iPad as i cannot stand restriction.
iPad. Not really my choice, it was a present. But it's a great device for what I use it for...which is literally only web browsing and a bit of gaming (on whichever free games are out on App Store)
HOWEVER, I fully intend to upgrade to one of the first few quad-core tablets -(Android tablets of course) - I'm also not very impressed with Honeycomb, (based on the few demo models I've played with in electronic and department stores)
I know they say this year, but I happy to wait (seeing as the iPad is perfectly good for what I do atm, which is browsing, and occasional gaming during TV breaks/commercials)

Nonsense.
Look at the header for the general forum.
Discussion about Samsung Galaxy S II (general chat, tips & tricks, etc)
This thread has no meaning or relevance at all to the above.
If I was curious about what colour socks SGS2 users prefer, by your criteria that would be an acceptable thread topic.
What tablet/what pc/what socks/what favoured sexual position... whatever.
Owning a SGS2 doesn't justify any of it - all irrelevant.
Relevant... ownership of the S2 can influence choice of tablet, but not the colour of your socks nor sexual preference
I have a S2 but I want an ipad 2 because I feel I'm getting the best android experience on the phone and would like something different.
However I've been fortunate to get my hands on the wifi 10.1 to play with until Wednesday and I'm extremely impressed with the browsing experience (using Dolphin HD) but the app support for Honeycomb devices is frankly pathetic... so it's looking like the Ipad 2 for me unless there's a Xoom like discount on the GT.
See sig
i had an iPad and moved onto Galaxy Tab 10.1
Galaxy Tab 10.1 definitely has the form factor that i enjoy but it lacks in quite a few areas compared to the SGS2. Multimedia playback capability, snappiness, and expandable memory slot

Are you able to offer any insight on which is better for you etc, rather than just showing off?
I own a samsung galaxy tab 10.1 and also own a ipad 2.
I just bought a Transformer Prime tablet yesterday
...and its so buggy..I can't believe its being touted as the best andriod tab...(my samsung galaxy was better)
I'm an andriod fan...so I really want an andriod tablet that is as snappy and smooth as ipad 2.
in comes Transformer Prime. Everywhere I read how fast it is and how great the screen is and how it's an "ipad kiler".
Is it just me...or does this tablet fall really really short ?
(note: my wifi and gps both work fine...speed tested was 25 mb down ..same as my ipad/galaxy tab)
1. Although its fast to move between home screens, the tablet is noticeably laggy when using MOST apps: i.e: web browsing , youtube , mail.
- browser is slow to touch response, and is sooooo choppy/laggy...its just a total joke compared to ipad 2.
Browsing the web with this tablet is a total joke...I don't see how you guys do it?
My galaxy 10.1 was much smoother in comparison (which itself was a bit laggy)
- youtube works decently well...but the screen turns black when you rotate from landscape to portrait and vice versa...when doing this...there is screen flicker as it hides the rest of the screen ... lol so bad
- screen: super ips? are you kidding me? the colors look sooo faint compared to ipad2 and galaxy tab. The colors are the best on samsung galaxy tab... and worst on prime. And this is supposed to be a great screen? gimme a break...The font sucks...its so small n skinny...hard to read.
- Overall: its very slow! Main lag is web browsing...
- Market: I have no idea why they "updated" market to the new layout..it really sucks..and looks very cheap ..old one was much better imo
So, I'm obv ready to return this thing...but before I do..wanted to know if you all are experiencing these issues...or do i have a bad peice or what???
HI
My TF201 is very fast and smooth. It runs with Android 4.0.
Only the browser crashes sometimes (.15 Update).
My GPS has no signal, but who the hell needs GPS in a Tablet. I have a smartphone, much handier.
Overall, i would buy the TF201 again.

Here is some information for you.
1. Proper IPS screens are CORRECT. Over-colored Samsung screens are not. Better looking does not equal proper looking. When you print any image, it will be closer to your prime than your Samsung.
2. Did you update to the latest version? I never had any browser issues and its much faster than my iPad2 - on top of that, this is Android - put any god damn browser you like on it. Chrome although in beta, works great.
3. Put your tablet in performance mode.
4. Youtube does flikker sometimes, but only when typing in search. I've never had a black screen while rotating or whenever.
Overall, hhis tablet is much smoother than any other tablet - I'm a developer and I have them all - so I'm not just talking.
Somehow it makes me think you are using the prime in power saver mode - because this does make the display extremely ugly and the device laggy.
It must be you. My prime screams. Everything is perfect. The screen is bright. The fonts are pretty. No lag time. Hell even my gps and wifi work.
It has its issues but its a great tablet. Way better then the iFlop/2 or any other Apple product I have ever used, but that's my personal opinion. My browser is buggy so I stopped using it but that's a issue with ICS in my opinion all the ICS devices I have used have the problem. Use Chrome Beta (havent had one crash) or FF if you cant stand crashing. Youtube does that on my Thrive and my Inspire so its the app from my standpoint.
+1 for making sure your not in power save mode.
Also to traxxus I see you agree, you didn't buy this to be a 10" version of a Garmin did you lol.
Also why are you blaming the Prime for the market changing, that was Google's change not ASUS, every device is getting that update.
You probably dont have the same prime as i do^^ But hey you have the GalaxyTab and the Ipad2 why dont you just stick with them if they're better. Sell your prime and chill
Honest question, do you work for apple and were being told to come here and make bad posts about the prime? It just seems so obvious
(dont take me that serious)

No but car manufacturers dont sue each other either just because their rear mirrors or steering wheels look the same.
The mobile phone/tablet industry often reminds me of babies in a sandbox argueing about who the molds belong to... And so do the users sometimes

Yeah I find this true as well. I for a brief time was looking at a ford mustang ( until I went to a showroom and tried to test drive and and a salesperson told me they don't allow joy rides. Little did that idiot know I make a six figure income and could afford it. I was 22 at the time but you never judge a book by its cover come on!) and yes, while on mustang forums all the camaro people came to the forum and spread their Chevy gospel lol.
So its perfectly normal.
To the op, yes it has some software problems but it is A KILLER tablet. Make sure you are up to date.
The prime is MUCH faster than my droid razr and its got a pimped out version of aokp. Much love for droid theory and crew!

Did you do a factory reset after updating to ICS? It's a known issue that you really need to do a full reset after upgrading. My prime was a nightmare at first, I mean every single program would crash repeatedly, stock browser was one of the worst offenders. I'd gotten the prime and upgraded to ICS immediately before doing anything on the tablet at all. Then I found someone mentioning doing the full reset after upgrading and I tried it and it was a night and day difference. I mean literally I went from a program crash every 5 minutes to once a day if that.
Give that a try before giving up. And if that doesn't fix it, it's probably a bad unit. The prime definitely has some problems and to be honest ICS isn't really a fully mature OS yet imo, but what you're experiencing is not the norm for a properly functioning prime on the latest ICS build.
And for all the people saying troll go home, maybe he asked in a somewhat antagonizing way but he has a legitimate gripe. What do you think is better for primes, androids in general and this guy specifically? Telling him to go away or maybe helping him solve what's obviously a problem with his specific prime and bringing another happy prime owner into the fold?
As a new prime owner, I'm kinda disappointed. Nevermind about the gps.
My main beef is it doesn't feel fast. My stock uk 2.3.4 Galaxy S ii feels a lot faster. I'm thinking large websites heavy graphics, the Prime's is struggling with i/o.

I kinda think it's the person using it
I can get £100 for my 16Gb wifi which makes the upgrade price to a nexus 7 8Gb only £65 in the UK.
For this I get ICS, quad core, IPS screen. But lose 8Gb and pen.
Is it worth it ?
I've been debating the same decision too, and with a PSP and zune lying around that I'm not using I might be able to accomplish it, but for some reason I just don't wanna part with this device. I'm torn honestly. I keep thinking why decide flyer or nexus when come christmas time I'll get my usual Christmas cash and I can have both
I guess its just I was eager to upgrade my phone and I sold ny captivate to pay for my HTC Vivid and now I regret it and miss the phone. No complaints with the Vivid but just regret missing out on some of the best development for it. And HTC has left it for dead but our developers are really breaking ground on it. Chaoses new ics Rom will be a beast after everything is working and ioiwillio really is putting together an awesome honeycomb Rom. So I do want the new nexus but at the same time I don't know if I'm ready to sacrifice my flyer to get one

I know one issue I have in parting with the flyer is quality and design vs a modern budget tablet. A year ago the flyer was a premium android tablet and one thing that threw me for a loop in a nexus was a review that said the speaker was really nice...emphasis on speaker not "speakers" like the flyer has. Pros and cons of the idea
Pros:
*more modern hardware
*lagfree
*Completely up to date
*software is handled by Google so no laggy sense ui and timely updates
Cons
*No pen support
*mono speaker
*build quality is good but HTC has the best
*No expandable Storage
*Front camera is in the wrong place
*No rear camera
*jelly beans 7 inch tablet ui is rubbish

I think I could part with my flyer now in favor of one, or I could wait and have both! What's better than an android tablet? 2 android tablets!
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda app-developers app
No pen support is what keeps me from buying any other device.
But if you don't use the pen, then yeah...I can see the upgrade being worth it.
Yeah nothing on the nexus tab is a deal breaker for me, I just am hesitant to give up the flyer so quickly not to mention I doubt I could get that much money out of it anyway
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda app-developers app
I did just that.
I preordered the Nexus 7 16GB from Google and put my HTC Flyer, Blurex case, installed Zagg invisible shield, box, cables, and all papers one up on ebay.
If anyone is interested, it's up on ebay for $159 and BUY IT NOW $187 for all.
BTW Thanks for all in this forum who have helped me with various things along the way.
Peace,
Jeff
I did the same! I listed my Flyer late Wednesday night on Gumtree and someone took it off me for £150 at half four yesterday Very quick sale!
I couldn't care about the camera, microsd slot and pen.. I never really used them! So ordered the Nexus 8GB just, Was going to go for the 16GB but I only used ~2.5gb on my Flyer.
Can't wait for them to ship!
I'm with you there on that stuff doesn't matter. I have an sd card in mine only because I got sick of having to take my phone apart every time I wanted to flash a Rom through recovery. All my media is on the cloud. And the camera really is just a toy imo, there is no useful purpose for one on a tablet, and besides my HTC Vivid has a much nicer camera anyway, 8mp dual led flash. Really what's killing the nexus tab for me is the terrible jelly bean UI. I just found out today no landscape mode, wtf? I mean yes in apps and games, but the homescreen is portrait only like a phone! So that mean all next gen 7 inch android tablets are just going to be glorified e readers? I personally rarely ever use portrait, god google is clueless

Haha! I prefer portrait mode actually! Plus, The phone UI is nicer on a 7 inch tablet.. I had an Archos 80 G9 before my Flyer and the tablet UI was nice and spaced out - On the Flyer it felt really cramped! Wish Google would release the case in the UK soon! Going to need one :L
I'd still buy one, and I still plan too actually, not a matter of if but when. Just don't see why its so hard to put the launcher in landscape auto rotate when 3rd party launchers have been doing this for years! I'll definitely be putting a custom launcher on mine
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using XDA Premium HD app
You guys will have to keep me informed how you like it. I will say the rubberized back is a plus. The flyer is slippery. I've had it slide out of my hands a million times.
After watching a review of the nexus tab on youtube, yeah its hard to complain about the UI too much, beause it looks gorgeous and moves like "butter", even if it isn't exactly the most tablet optimized UI. I wonder what its going to do to other cheap tabs now such as the Nook Tablet, Kindle Fire, and GTab2. The GTab2 seemed like a steal at $250 2 months ago, but now it seems way over priced considering the same price gets you 2 more cores, a more up to date version of android, double the storage, and an HD screen. Google has set the standard now for cheap tabs. Look for an Apple lawsuit soon lol.
The storage is a no go for me
Flyer
Haha! Do you know if the stock ICS launcher on phones rotates? I know from the G9 the Tablet one definitely rotates, Just not used ICS on my phones properly
Ugh I hate the Flyer's aluminium build so much! I can't stand the soft feeling when it moves in your hand haha! Had the leather hardback on from day one then switched to the leather journal case for when I took the tablet outside and a gel case for indoors haha. The official leather journal is well overpriced, Wish I had've bought an unofficial one with a stand!
Can't wait until they start to ship! Mines coming from Dublin, Ireland which is only ~130 miles from where I live so it won't take long to arrive!
Really odd how the case isn't available in the UK yet though -

It doesn't auto rotate, its pretty much the Galaxy Nexus Launcher with a larger grid. But oh well really, its android, and as people have said in other threads, who uses the stock launcher anyway? Nothing Apex or Nova can't fix
I always questioned the rear camera on tablets. I mean first of all its pointless, even a 7 inch tab is much to large to carry around as your digital camera, and the cameras they put on them are smartphone cameras anyway so its not something you want to carry around if your a serious photographer, and secondly its the most blatently obvious thing to get rid of when trying to bring the price down on a tablet! I mostly use my flyer's camera to irritate my wife, lol I have a sectional couch and I sit on the loveseat portion, and she sits on the couch, and I like to sneak and take picture of her to irritate her. She hears the camera sound and gets annoyed. And yep thats really what a camera is on a tab, just a toy.
Aw, Not a big deal anyway! Hey - I use the stock launcher on most devices LOL.
Yeah I never saw the point of the rear camera on the Flyer.. Used it once or twice, More a gimmick. Same can be said for the front facing camera! I used it twice, and it was to test Snapbooth, Nothing else! I don't video call or Skype so it's of no use to me!
With any luck the Nexus' screen is easier to see in sunlight than the Flyers' .. I couldn't see anything with the screen on 100%! I'm looking forward to the higher res screen.. The Flyer looks really pixelated when I look at my phone for long periods of time, And my phone isn't even that high res, 480*800 4" haha!
I'm really thinking about it now lol. My biggest complaint with honeycomb is the lag and i hate gingerbread because of ugly phone versions of gmail, YouTube, maps, gvoice, etc. My roommate's gtab2 is quick and responsive except for the ui which is kind of laggy. You don't get the honeycomb look with the nexus but you still get honeycomb style apps, and to some extent honeycomb is more made for larger tablets as those virtual keys are easy to bump when your playing games etc. I'm going to sleep on it. i might call up the used video game store and see how much they'd pay for a flyer, as i kinda wanna sell quick if i do it

Where did you manage to get the refund?
Depends on your usage, if you draw or design the galaxy note 10.1 would be the optimal choice
If you're into gaming or just all rounded functionality and support I'd say the Nexus 7, or if you type a lot just hook a bluetooth keyboard
Don't forget the Infinity tab as an option, unless you like a smaller tablet version (7 inch) then go with the Nexus 7 or hell even a Galaxy Note 2 if you want to go the phablet route, when it releases soon of course. I'd personally say Nexus 7 though.
Got Amazon to refund my purchase of the Transformer Prime. Do you think the new Galaxy tablet and/or the Nexus 7 is better than the transformer infinity?

To my knowledge even the Infinity even if it's not that bad, still has io issues comparable with the Prime. If you're going for performance and after purchase support i don't think you can go wrong with the Nexus if you can accept the 7" screen
i dont see all those problems. my prime runs very smooth i do love it every day
If the op is returning the Prime due to i/o and lag, then infinity/tf300 can be crossed off the list of alternatives.
I just purchased a Nexus 7 for an in-dash car install (replacing factory stereo). I've been playing with it and I am really liking it. I hate to say it, but at over half the cost of my TFP, its so much better at everything.
BUT... If I were going to REPLACE my TFP, it would be with something with a 10 inch screen. The 7" screen is just a little too small for every day use. Nexus 10 maybe?
Get samsung galaxy note 10.1
It stable, fast and worth all money.

Did you see the rumor today about Google coming out with a Samsung made Nexus 10.1 tablet?
I have an iPad3 and a Prime.
Prime just bricked, so I bought a Galaxy Note 10.1"
(must have of both worlds )
The Prime was actually a crappy device, compared to iPad and Galaxy.
Prime had terrible touchscreen sensitivity.
And froze all the time, when it was multitasking. (on all ROMS, and I tryed them all)
The Galaxy Note is just as smooth as the iPad3 in daily use.
Get this one!

Saw that too. The Nexus 7 is still an ASUS product. I loved my XOOM. A 10.1" Samsung Nexus is compelling to me, especially with the hi-res screen, if you can wait . . .

Im going with the new wikipad. Remember you can a blutooth keyboard case. The reason why i choose this tablet is because it come with a controller that attaches to the tablet itself. This is a new tablet so iwll be waiting for the reviews tho. I also going to trust the review this time
When i used to have a prime i thought to myself, this SEEMS like a disapointment, when i got my note 10.1..........i KNEW this was a disapointment.
At first i kept wondering how the early prime users could say stuff like, "ive not touched my computer since ive had the prime" or im on it everyday",.........i just didnt get it, not with my semi functional prime...........after having the not..........i get it
Go for what suites your needs, right now there seems to be two android tabs that are ahead of the pack right now
- a decent asus 7 inch budget tab
- a decent samsung 10.1 inch tab, that happens to be one of the best android tabs around with good note and drawing capability
Heres my user review of the Note 10.1
Im a rom enthusiest, i like streamlined high performance, **** loads of driver support roms, but im having such a good experience with my note stock rom, that i dont have that "itch" to rom, which i hope communicates how im liking this tab
Check out this design thread to see how good artist, and not so good (just kidding fellas, all works appreaciated:goodartists can do with the tab

Now seing as i have the note 10.1, i can give you what are cons for me, and perhaps for you, no news on whether some of these will be implemented over time
Cons
Currently, no usb to ethernet support
Currently no ntfs support, with usb sticks/hdd drives
Currently, no way to power external hdd drives through usb dongles

Currently dev support seems slow, saying that, a big thankyou to all devs supporting us note users, mucho apprechiado your trabailho
Charging the battery takes a little longer then the prime, all notes, not just a fluke in my case
Pros
Consistant performance, even in power save mode
SURPRISINGLY good battery life (i think im jaded by the prime on this), not matter what im running the battery performs admirably, whereas i distinctively remember the prime battery lossing juice pretty damn quickly when watching videos or playing games for instance (disclaimer, i think its safe to say my particular prime was less then stellar, so my opinion IS jaded by that fact, if others say their primes work wonderfully, well, good for you.......it was'nt in my case}
I could comfortably get 1 hour per 10 %, usuallly slighly more, for a total of at LEAST 10 hours, and thats with constant use
Heres my battery stats
Screen is just as bright as the prime, when i compared them for the brief time i had the two together
Im sure im missing a few pros and cons here, but i cant be arsed to write more, :silly:, think ive written to much anyway, daily quota or something:silly:
Hopefully someone her can review the 7 incher, if the note does not float your boat, goodluck with whatever you decide,
