So I downloaded the free version of system panel just to get an idea of whats running on my phone, since the default task manager isn't too accurate.
after a restart i have a bunch of random things. for example, calendar storage (dont use the calendar at all), maps (i havent opened it yet), media hub (never use this), Messaging (i use handscent).
i remember how i used to have an app killer to end these things but from what i've learned most people believe app killers waste more battery than they save? and that at this point android is good on ending processes on it's own?
how come these random things are running?
basically i wanna save battery life. i use SuperPower but it's kinda annoying tbh. data disable when screen off = gotta keep my screen on for market to update apps, fb chat to keep running/stay online, etc.
any suggestions?

Don't use Super Power, I've come to realize that was a much larger hassle than the benefits it made. If you have Titanium Backup Pro freeze all apps you never use, like Media Hub and other Samsung apps. And things like Calander Storage don't worry about, I'm sure it's nothing that's draining your battery.
And also, task killers DO drain more battery than they save, assuming you're on a froyo 2.2 based rom. And if you want turn off Auto Sync in settings and this will save some battery. Otherwise, your battery life should be pretty solid.

thanks man, i got rid of superpower and will see how much it truely effected my battery life.
as for titanium backup, i don't have pro but i guess i will buy it if there aren't any free alternatives to freeze apps?
thanks man
Ok so like some I jumped from the free beta to the CM rom, but I noticed when restoring data from the free beta my battery didn't last more than 4 hours, n yes anything to improve the battery I was doing, even when it was sleeping, I re-installed the rom and put EVERYTHING BACK through titanium backup and now I've lasted 7 hours... so this is just a warning, but if someone knows why when restoring data it effs with the battery please share
Sent from a pyramid in Canadada
ive noticed the same when restoring SE 2.1 from 2.2 Froyo, my battery was warm and depleting quickly, battery meter was very very inaccurate
Hi,
I do not use xrecovery/data restore, only when i am testing things and i am in a hurry, my phone always works best and always has done on fresh app installs and apps i have on my sdcard.
Some tips
well I migrated from 2.1 stock to Zs 2.2 beta 1, 2, 3 and 4 and from there to CM 6.1.1 and never restored from Xrecovery. and my battery works fine and didnt noticeed any adverse difference from 2.2 to cm mod but its getting better and very happy with my X10`s current condition.
I used Titanium paid version and below are my dos and donts.....
before I mess with anything I do a nandroid back up and complete titanium backup (do a forced-redo to update existing backups)
every time I change roms I do Wipe Cache Partition and Wipe Dalvik Cache and Battery Stats
My contacts are sync to gmail so I dont need to worry about migrating one to another
Sms, Call log can restore via titanium called "SMS/MMS/APN dialer Storage......."
Never restore phone system settings, Insted I go and configure manually.
All the standard applications I restore data and App both so i can run all those apps witout any lost of data.
Use ADW or launcher pro home insted of Default launcher
Dont like default keyboard using smartkeyboard
Freeze unnecessary application such as launcher, google search, android keyboard, Facebook, twiter, news depend on your usage, but dont do for system core apps.
Using ATK to kill apps on switch off for all the junks staring when phone is dile. this is to kill all general apps
disable automatic clock time update and set the time manual.
disable mylocation /use of wireless network to fix your location. because google is using your phone to collect data when phone is idle (da... .)
If you customizing/ modding system apks like framewrok-res.apk, contacts.apk, phone.apk ; make sure you use zipalign command to optimize the application before putting it back to phone.
good luck..........
DONT restore data from another rom.... I think has been said alot of times.... so dont start crying when battery drains because you restored data from a diffrent rom...

Battery drain + FC = annoying. :O
Best way is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11394960&postcount=716
It installs like you would install all manually and its done in 3-4 Minutes and you dont need to do anything!
except that does not save app data.. so lets say that one played angry birds and passed 200 levels, so what now start over?
How do I completely freeze this service using T backup pro?
I freezed Gtalk 1.0.3 the app, but using Betterbatterystats reveal that gtalk_async_conn still resulting in partial wakelock timing
I have also noticed this.
Anyway we can stop it?
Still no solution? GTALK_ASYNC_CONN is my main Partial Wakelock in the Betterbatterystats (KH3 firmware) and heavy battery drainer with about 60 min of activity during 8 hours...
same problem with me...and no one on Google does not have a solution for this.
installed 'Better Battery Stats' to see what was keeping the phone up and it's "gtalk_async_conn". The thing is that I don't even use Google Talk. I tried to disable auto-login and freeze it with Titanium Backup without any luck. The only thing that worked was to disable 'Background data' but other apps like Market needs that option on.
Literally everyone appears to have this problem, i actually froze Talk in Titanium and have had no problems but is this Gtalk_async_conn related to this or what?
This problem persist more with google Maps 5.8, 5.9 version. I uninstalled the google maps and noticed that problem was solved, issue was not present anymore in wakelock of batterbatterystats. However it's not permanent solution.
same prob here. would be nice if s.o. has a solution
I also uninstalled Google Maps (rooted; used free edition of Titanium Backup) and it helped for a while -- got really minimal battery drain for several hours. But now the problem is back so I'm wondering if it might also be related to Market or Gmail.
I would say this is the answer.
ANSWER
And it would explain why everyone has it.
That post might explain what it is, but it's not very helpful at solving the issue.
I turned off notifications in Market (some versions don't have this setting; try Market 3.1.3). If it still doesn't help then I am going to try turning off Gmail sync.
Turn off all syncing (gmail, calander, etc), turn off background data and you may have it disappear, also don't use anything that uses google c2d push notifications.

I did the following:
- Uninstalled Google Maps (rooted; used free edition of Titanium Backup)
- Turned off notifications in Market (using Market 3.1.3)
- Turned off Google accounting syncing for everything except Gmail (background data / auto-sync still enabled)
Partial wakelocks for GTALK_ASYNC_CONN are now very low. Just a couple of seconds over 15+ hours of low use.
However I think I still have some battery drain (based on Battery Monitor Widget) so I am looking at other possibilities.

I am not trying to be a smartass but doesn't your battery monitor widget cause some battery drain?

Totally valid point. But I have also tried running it with Battery Monitor Widget turned off and I still see the same drain (by looking at the battery history graph).
Also while experimenting, I had a couple of hours where Battery Monitor Widget continuously reported -1mA battery discharge (while Battery Monitor Widget was running of course). The battery history graph was basically flat. So that tells me that I can still run Battery Monitor Widget and get minimal battery usage -- if everything else is working right.
In the Better Battery Stats thread, the developer says his target battery discharge is -2mA to -10mA (measured by Battery Monitor Widget). I know it's possible because I've gotten it before, but lately I'm somewhere around -70mA so that's what I've been working on.
Getting great battery life now with the Gtalk_async_conn issue seemingly gone. I still have Maps removed -- luckily I do not need it much these days. I also notice that Market likes to stay running in the background, where it uses some CPU time even with notifications disabled. Also, turning on Google Calendar auto-sync caused significant battery drain.
Quick summary:
- Uninstall/freeze Maps
- Kill Market if it's running in the background
- Turn off Google account syncing for everything except Gmail
- Turn off "Back up my data" under Privacy settings
I was at about 50% battery after 20 hours. I am running Cognition 1.5.1 with SpeedMod kernel.

It's good to know that these mods work, but they are pretty extreme for me, and I would assume many others. I actively use the functionality of Maps and other Google account syncing. I hope that someone can work out a way to minimize the usage without cutting off the functionality completely.
For what it's worth, I see a dramatically higher usage of the GTALK process when I am at work where some of the syncs are blocked on the office wifi. Out of the office on 3G or at home, the amount of time GTALK is active is significantly reduced.
Atrix here but same issue. I agree if turning off syncs is the way to go, I might as well buy a dumbphone
I agree it's annoying. But the battery life improvement is dramatic, even more so than I mentioned in my earlier post. I used to get <20 hours per charge. Now I get about 3 days. Hopefully these are just bugs in the apps that Google will fix in future versions.
Not sure what is causing it. I have turned off auto-sync, logged out of gtalk, and even turned off "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore" from Settings>Privacy.
I still notice 1-2 minutes of partial wakelocks.
Try killing Market if it is running.
Ok so after the Lollipop update my battery life has been less than stellar. On kit kat i would usually have around 40% battery life left at the end of a day with medium use but now with lollipop I'm ending the day closer to 15% with the same use. This is usually with between 2 and 3 hours SOT. The only thing I've noticed that is any different is google services seems to be using more battery than normal, not a ton but more. Also i cant seem to get it to go into low battery use in location setting, it always stays on high battery use even when in battery savings mode. Anyone with thoughts on this?
Have you tried using greenify? It stops apps from refreshing in the background and if you buy the pro version you can stop system apps from refreshing. You may want to try this xposed module it will go and save major battery. I personally am on barepop (I uninstalled some extra apps though) and have both apps running in the background and I it takes about 10 minuates for the battery to die by even 1%. By the time I wake up and use my phone with heavy use all day long (6am-4pm est) I get home without about 60-65% of battery. You may also want to turn things off when your not using them such as data/nfc and bluetooth.
Xposed module: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ryansteckler.nlpunbounce
Xposed link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
I am not rooted and am trying to stay that way, at least for a while. I do have greenify but only the free version so it is kind of limited. I haven't found any wakelock detectors that work without root so i cant get any real specifics on whats causing the drain. I just find it strange that google services will not go into low battery mode.
Try this guide it should allow you to stop apps from running in the background:http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/2trjxf/xpost_rlgg3_the_g3_has_a_hidden_nonroot

OK Best of luck.
Nothing in there for anything related to Google services. I don't know why it wont go into low battery usage, i checked all my Google settings and still cant figure it out.
Ok, well today i decided to just uninstall updates for google services, reboot, install the updates, and reboot again. And after dealing with the phone telling me there was no sim card twice, everything seemed to go back to normal, no more high battery usage from google services.
Hi everyone.
So yesterday I downloaded 2 apps: "ShutApp" and "Doze". Thought they would help me save more battery. Everything was fine, until this morning. I left house, turned on mobile data and phone started overheating and battery started draining like crazy. Turning mobile data off didn't help. Uninstalling those apps didn't help either. So I entered safe mode, and this time everything was fine, phone cooled down too. Then in safe mode I reset network settings, rebooted again in normal mode. That drastic draining kind of stopped, but I still feel like my battery is lasting less than usual. What can I do? I really don't want to hard reset it.
P.S. There is no root for my version (H860), so Warelock Detector is useless.
I'm on the same boat bro. This morning my phone started to heat and I've never seen it draining this Fast.
With GSam Battery, It seem that Facebook updated itself (this crappy system app on LG phones). I saw a new setting enabled for Facebook auto update. Every time I try to uninstall Facebook to factory version, my phone soft reboot .
I will try updating Facebook with latest Beta or Alpha version found on apkmirror and report back.
Same here! Some apps had updated during the night and now my battery drains in A FEW HOURS! The phone gets very hot too!
Damn I can't uninstall Facebook . I've never seen my G5 draining like this
Oh my **** GOD! IT WAS FACEBOOK ALL THIS TIME?
I hard reset my phone already! Jesus.
Looks like they "fixed" it. That's why the battery stopped draining that bad, but still draining. I'll just roll it back to basic version for now I guess.
I've tried using Safe Mode but can't uninstall Facebook. I don't know what to do.

You can't uninstall it, but you can disable it.

I've never liked auto updates. Whenever I get a new phone first thing I do is disable the auto updating in Google Play. I am buying the phone that I researched hard for. Those factory installed apps probably are the same apps that were used to gain great reviews when you did phone buying research. Allowing updates means moving away from those factory installed apps onto unknown territory. Not all updates are useful or needed. Revert to factory installed wherever possible.
That's what I meant (it's a system app), I tried desabling it but my phone reboot every time I perform this action.

Oh, got it. So do you guys still have the problem?
Is it fixed entirely or not? If it is, then there is some other culprit on my phone I need to find and delete. If it's not, that's why my phone is still dying, although not as fast as earlier today.
I uninstalled Facebook Messenger and logged out from Facebook. It seems fine now.
Had the same problem today my phone started burning and battery was draining really fast, after i uninstalled the facebook app seems to be fine.
I had to hotswap batteries twice today... I was using Facebook Beta and it seemed to have been the cause
https://www.facebook.com/FacebookAndroidBeta/
Huh, it seems to have suddenly stopped?
