Faulty 3D - HTC EVO 3D

So I have figured it all out. I have a faulty Evo3D. No matter what what I do, I can not get it to mount to my computer. I have tried on various computers, and the only thing it allows me to do is Charge Only. When I mount as drive it does nothing, is anyone else seeing this, possibly can assist with this one.
Thanks in advance

Did you try another USB cable, sdcard, or computer? Trying things like that help determine what is actually bad.

I thought I was having the same issue. Turned out to be user (interface?) Error. Make sure to click the select button at the bottom. felt dumb when I realized I had to touch 2 buttons.. Even worse when I did it several times

Froyo JPM *10/24/2010*

I am trying to run the Froyo JPM *10/24/2010* Everything works well until I try to mount the device to the computer to transfer files. It gives me the option to connect to Kies but I do not have this installed. With usb debugging on and off I am still not able to mount to the cpu. Is there something that I am missing, it seems so much simpler to connect on 2.1.
Please help,

Da**, well maybe someone would if you didn't bump your thread every other minute.
Make sure that USB Storage (Or something like that is on - In settings>Applications>USB Settings > Mass Storage)

I appreciate your response Master, I have had this problem on all the 2.2 roms, even yours. to be honest is the only reason that I switched back. I just need to be able to move files from the puter to the device. phone is in mass storage but still has me connect to kies every time i plug in the phone. I have never used kies so I have no idea how it works, but I no longer have the option to just drag and drop from the removable hard drive. Any suggestions as to what my problem is.
Again thanks,

Flash a stable ROM. What you're running is a tweaked and patched port, there's gonna be issues.

I have successfully flashed back to a cooked 2.1 and I have never had any issues with this. I read post of others who dont seem to have an issues as well. Im confused as to what the issue could be. I know its something dumb azz like a setting but at least i would know.
Thanks Tho,
Just a thought
This may be stating the obvious, but hey sometimes we look over the simple things. When experiencing this problem did you got into Settings>Applications>USB settings. and make cure its set to "Ask on connection"? or maybe "Mass Storage" since thats your primary focus?
Just my 2 cents.....

[Q] QHSUSB_DLOAD..phone will not boot

Hey, has anyone come across this issue? I tried partitioning my SD with recovery-clockwork-4.0.1.5-shooter.img. It appeared to have done its thing. After I hit reboot, the screen went dead... phone doesnt power up any more. Even after pulling the battery, when plugged in to the pc, I get a 'new hardware found' notice. I am thinking it is bricked. Thoughts? Anyone?

Yes, I have seen a couple of these posts. Strangely enough, I flashed Clockwork recovery to allow me partition my SD. The first hint that something was awry (after the partitioning) was when parted->print returned Error: Can't have overlapping partitions.. In any case, I will head over to sprint to ask for a fix (or replacement).
So, I was able to get a replacement for my EVO 3D today. A routine task like partitioning an SD card with a supposedly safe software can turn your phone to paper weight.

[Q] Bad Situation w/ my gs2

So ive had my galaxy s 2 for a few months now, downloaded hundreds of songs, taken near a thousand photos, and yesterday the digitizer/lcd was shattered after being sat on. I can't replace this phone, and my parents who own the contract didn't purchase insurance for it. I am nearly broke, and the repair costs for this part is over 200$, and my parents refuse to pay for this. All I need to do is copy all of the files from my phone to my computer, but i cannot enable mass storage to access the pictures/music on the internal storage because the screen is out. Does anyone have an idea as to how I could fix this, or move the files off of the phone? A thousand thanks to whoever could help me in this/:

Is Android Debugging on? Then you probably could get ADB to work.
If not, then...
Thats the thing. the screens black on my phone cause its broken, so i cant check if its on or not. idk how to use mass storage w/o this):
Droid VNC server may be an option, if you can somehow get it to work.
You have to download the app on the market to vnc with the computer, it would work if I wouldve already downloaded it.. I cant do anything on my phone at all. Thanks for the attempt though

sure you can, plug it in to your computer and just run adb devices, if it shows up, then debugging is on, if it is off it will tell you no device found
so to pull all the files off your sdcard assuming debugging is on..
1. in adb mount the sdcard (I forget the command off the top of my head, but google is your friend)
2. adb pull /sdcard some_folder_name_in_your_sdk_directory

Assuming I understand this correctly, you can still download apps to your phone by logging in to the market from your computer. This may still be an option.

You could always look around eBay craigslist or anywhere else you can think of and you might get lucky in finding a cheap gs2 that doesn't work but the screen is still intact or maybe if you know anyone that maybe willing to let you borrow their screen from their phone for yours if you know how to. I just haven't pulled apart any phones since I came
To the US in 2002 so I'm not sure if its still that simple to do.
I haven't tried it yet so some of the others may be able to chime in but what about the possibility of using the HDMI adapter. I have looked at purchasing one and they are not very expencive depending on the source. I just do not know if it will automatically output the video when connected or it needs to be enabled.

it automatically works. nothing needs to be enabled
1) If you had USB debugging enabled, you can use ADB. If you're not sure - try it.
2) If you had a custom kernel with CWM installed, you can use ADB from within recovery. Recovery does not normally mount the sdcard but you can do it manually via ADB. I can provide info on this IF you can get ADB connecting first
3) HDMI is another possibility - although controlling the device will be problematic if the touchscreen is also failed. (It's possible that touchscreen is semiworking and main AMOLED is busted.)
For getting ADB installed and running, try Droid Explorer.
Been there done that.
Unfortunately, it'll cost some money to do a diy fix with this phone.
Last summer I dropped my htc aria onto gravel and the glass shattered. I googled around and found an oem digitizer for 30 bucks on ebay, and some great how-to-tear-apart your phone videos on youtube. 5 hours and multiple clumps of hair ripped out later, I got the thing fixed. Granted the light from the soft keys now bleeds onto the screen (thankfully CM7 let me disable them) and the trackpad became recessed in too far to use. But it still got me through until I got my SGS2.
Only thing is, my lcd still worked, it was just the glass digitizer that broke.

This is probably your best bet if adb doesn't work.
I have CWM flashed, but I cant tell if im in recovery after holding down the buttons. And im not sure how to view the pictures after i take them in the mode..
You should be able to plug it in to your computer and MTP should connected automatically allowing you to copy your files

Usb/charging port fried after failed S-off attempt

Just throwing it out there. As the title states. I attempted the S-off, failed a couple of times, more than likely due to my timing on the wire trick. Then my computer was unable to find device anymore. Long story short, I got my rom to reboot, however the phone will not connect to computer or charge. Tried Pc, Mac, different usb cords. Wiped, reinstalled rom, pulled battery, etc..
This is a risk that I took, and I take full responsibility for that. But just beware that this could affect your hardware and not just your software too, which makes sense because you are messing with the hardware. I am def in the minority here, but I thought I would share. But something to think about. The phone now still functions but I have to take out the battery to charge, and I can't push any files to the phone.
ive never heard of anyone's usb port getting fried with the s-off method but i guess it's possible since your basically grounding your device out.
I know it won't help you with fastboot, but you can still do ADB over wireless. Look for instructions on how to enable it via terminal, or just go the the store and find a widget or app to enable it. At least with functional ADB, you can still push files to your phone using wifi tether or if they are on the same wireless network.
Someone else had the same issue and is testing a possible fix for me. If it works ill post a thread but there is a good chance it is dead.

I had the exact same thing happen to me on my original Rezound, while I was doing all sorts of fastboot stuff to completely wipe it and prepare it to be shipped back to Verizon. In the end, it shipped back to them in a state where it would ONLY boot to hboot, because it had no /boot or /system or /data or /recovery partitions or anything. I don't really know what happened, but before I could run the RUU to complete the job, the USB connection just stopped working and it wouldn't charge. Exactly the same situation, except it was on its way back to Verizon anyway with a dead screen so I didn't bother to investigate any further.
To the people who have had the problem, were you using an uninsulated wire?

Or else inadvertantly touched the wrong terminals ? Just trying to figure out how it could happen.
lack of usb function was a product of a corrupted misc image on the HTC Desire. It is possible the same thing happened here so that is being tested. It is worth looking into as a last resort before sending it back.
Yes I was using an insulated wire. I placed the wire exactly where the pictures show. I'm really not sure what happened. But at least I have a backup phone.

Please post a cure if you find one.
Another nice option for transferring files is SSHDroidPro used with something like WinSCP.
I know you tried wiping your rom, but did you try an RUU? On the off chance it is a corrupted partition that might be able to fix it. Worth a try anyway.

Unusual brick?

I've searched and searched, but I've been unable to find a solution to, or even any examples of, my particular problem. I was wiping and formatting everything before I flashing a ROM as I've done countless times before, but this time I decided to format the boot partition, which I can't remember ever doing before, and I think I then pulled the battery before flashing anything.
Now when I put the battery back in or plug in the USB cable (without pressing any buttons at all) the phone immediately shows the Vibrant/Samsung screen and nothing else happens. Holding the power button (or power + vol up, or power + vol down, or power + vol up and down) makes the screen flash off momentarily and then come back on again, but that's it. I can't get into recovery mode, and I couldn't get into download mode either, as the phone won't stay off when I put the battery in.
So, I bought a USB jig and to my relief it enabled the phone to get into download mode. I put the jig in the USB port and insert the battery, and download mode immediately comes up. Then I remove the jig and either connect the USB cable and then start Odin, or start Odin and then connect the USB cable. Either way, Odin doesn't recognize the phone. Windows gives me some sort of error about a malfunctioning USB device.
I know the problem is the phone, and not my cable or computer, because I can Odin to my wife's Vibrant no problem. Any ideas?

Alrighty, well...I actually remember a thread like this coming up awhile back and having no freakin' clue personally...however it lead me to think that you ought to have done a search of the forums before posting this. Read it over, test it out and if it doesn't work head back here and let us know and we can figure something out...and who knows, maybe by then someone with far more knowledge of this particular problem will pass on through and shed some light on the situation.
But for now, concentrate on staying calm and we'll work through it.
Sounds like you deleted the boot loaders. Make sure you have correct drivers installed, windows isn't auto detecting. Try to get Odin to recognize again, try all USB ports. If you get it recognized make sure to √ re-partition.
BTW Xeno, you made me bust out laughing!

Also, not to go against your advice, because I think its awesome that you responded and are searching for a "cure" but OP do not, I repeat, do NOT touch kies. I'm sure you've heard about the Holocaust in your history classes at some point, yes? Well that was microscopic compared to the disasters that will befall your vibrant if you bring it anywhere near the kies software. Do NOT do it. Think of the kids for God's sake. That is all.

@xeno, your killing me hahaha! I have heard about bad experiences with kies. I have used it a few times without issue, this was my Pre xda days. I figured this guy didn't have much to lose and if kies hard bricked it, he'd have a better shot of Sammy or tmo hooking him up with a fix. I guess for $40 he could get a JTAG repair.
