Return it. I had my first one for about a week. I tried all the fixes posted, but was always averaging dial up speeds with full bars. Just got replacement a few hours ago ... much better right out if the box. More like my EVO 4G where I would get 400 - 800 with only one or two bars. I am in LA area too.

call sprint tech support! i had similar poor speeds...let them know of the issue (they are more than aware of this) and they should walk you through a reprovisioning...and they'll also give you your MSL # to enter during this process...write down that 6 digit #!!! Hopefully your speeds will increase after this...if not you could try the 3g speed increase using msl....or return phone after these steps if speeds are still that bad...

@bluebrent - LOL def. ask for someone else in that case...with reprovisioning they'll reset your phone, do a hands free activation and data reset...write down your msl#
edit: obviously in this case you may need to redownload some apps (if you didnt have backup and auto restore in privacy settings, set phone up to how you like it etc...all worth it tho to have faster speeds.

Well it all started by going to a service center to get my phone looked at, those techs are dumb as nails. So after leaving with no solution I just called sprint and was transfered to a few techs and several tests they decided that my device maybe defective. He emailed me an e-ticket that says to replace the unit. Still under the 30 day window so I'm headed to the store where I purchased my phone now.

The way I got mine is I talked to the retentions deparment and told them I was on the Verizon website.
Oddly enough, the day I got my replacement, my old phone started getting "decent" speeds, but I decided to activate the replacement phone anyways... The replacement phone got worse results than the original.

Screw sprint. I'm flashing the 00001 prl and tethering to my desktop to sync the cyanogenmod github. Talkin no etf and here I come t mobile.
I can't stream netflix. No YouTube no Pandora. Forget even a steady enough connection to even successfully download a 90 mb ROM from my dropbox. I guess I could drive over 600 miles or so to some amazingly over rated 4G/wimax. T-mo gets consistant 2.5.to 3.5 mbs on the hspa+ network sitting 4 inches from my evo3d I value my time. Maybe when Verizon kills sprint off ill try some cdma again. But I am so sick of having a 4G phone with a sub 56k connection that was slow in 2000.

Im thinking about doing the same... Who cares about a 2gig limit if i can never get to it... I had tmobile when it was 5gig and the one time I did get throttled it was slow but not as slow as 12kbps like I get now with sprint... I've called dozens of times and they all say the same thing...
"No towers are showing any problems data wise... let's set up a eticket and have the device checked out..."
Go to the sprint service center... Guy looks at my phone and checks a few things out...
"No problems here"
I tell him to run a speed test (in a sprint store) and I pull 150kbps...
Now I have WiFi at home and have to use it to watch/stream anything... But why in the fack am I paying for "premium data"?

Ha. The guys at my local spring store used to joke and say "that's moving at sprint speed". Spring data speeds are horrible.
Just prior to me leaving for t mobile sprint upgraded my towers and we were getting like 1 Mb dl which was nice.however after a year and a half of speeds like yours I was already determined to leave. Good luck. Hope network vision improves things.

Try updating your PRL, and if that doesn't work you can try switching the network mode to CDMA only in the mobile network settings menu. If you're rooted you can also use MSL reader off the market to get your MSL, or call sprint and ask for it, then dial ##DATA# and change your EVDO mode to CDMA HDR only. If using MSL reader, for some reason it only works if you install, uninstall and reinstall again.
I got more consistent 1mbps speeds, up from 500~, in the san francisco area, I don't know if they're messing around with the towers over here, but there has been reports from people that these workarounds should force the phone to stop trying to flip between EVDO and LTE
You only did two tests? Try going to the setting and changing which server it is connecting to during the test.
I average 1Mbps-1.5Mbps usually.

I just updated to 1.05.11.0606 and ran a before-and-after comparison to see what difference it made. For reference, I have a generally poor signal here (at home) and didn't expect much of an improvement, if any. In an attempt to rule out network load variables, I ran five tests using the Speedtest app before and after the update, all within about 20 minutes. Here are the results:

Although it appears that both up- and down-load speeds have increased, I'm a little hesitant to conclude it is because of the radio. There is a huge variance in results in both sets of data and not being a statistician, I'm not sure how to interpret them. Also of note, my ping actually went UP, which seems unusual considering the speeds improvements. Anyway, if anyone else want to share their results, it might be nice to have them all in one thread.

Your download results are not statistically significant at the 95% confidence level (nor even the 90% confidence level). This means that it's not unlikely enough that you'd get those results by random fluctuation in the observations.
Your upload results are, however, statistically significant. There's a probability of 0.0078 (0.78% chance) that you'd get those results by random chance.
So ultimately, we can conclude that the new radios at least don't hurt download speeds, and are likely to improve upload speeds.
^^^statistics ftw

I read this on xda using the SG11, I was bored and tried it. Added it to the bottom of the buildprop. It is giving me H+ in an area where I hardly got H. Did speed test and it went from an average of around 2.5 to almost 4 at times. Just remember to save a copy of your original buildprop in a safe place before doing it and fix permission at the end. I'm also using the ATT LTE setting also. If it actually does anything, who knows, but my H+ is on more then it was in the past.

Wish I could hit 8 around here.
FYI, I didn't come up with these tweaks. They were made for the sg2. I took a shot.

I tried this on two different towers connected to hsdpa+ and if anything I am getting 1/2 mb less.
Changing my APN makes no difference. Maybe its a regional thing. I'm in metro Detroit and the second tower I tested was in Dearborn.
4mb with normal build.prop
3.5mb with modified build.prop

Yes, it's mixed. I never put much thought about speed test, it has to many variables and isn't consistent. All I know is I have better signal in areas that I got crap in the past. I read that the setting are supposed to make sure you are getting the best service available at the time, not to guarantee lighting speed. That makes sense.

I tried the last 3, but saw no difference in speed on regular 4G or LTE (testing 3 times with and without the tweaks and averaging the results...all from the same testing host), and for good reasons. ro.ril.gprsclass shouldn't make a difference to any of us unless we have no 3G, 4G or LTE service. This only defines the speed class for EDGE, which should already be at maximum for this phone anyway. ro.ril.enable.3g.prefix doesn't affect speed at all, it is a cosmetic change that would (if it's even used anymore) apply "3G" text to the carrier in the status bar (e.g. AT&T 3G instead of AT&T). From what I've read, ro.ril.hsxpa only goes to 2, and that is enabled anyway. The hsdpa and hsupa categories are already defined for our phones, for the hardware that we have. Telling the phone it's capable of something faster doesn't mean it is.
I think any increases in speed or reliability are a result of constantly changing network conditions, and purely coincidental. A bit of a placebo effect probably isn't out of question either.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that ro.ril.enable.dtm can decrease the performance of EDGE connections, this enables dual-transfer mode for capable networks (simultaneous voice and data).
Holy crap, this worked REALLY well for me. I did speed tests before & after & I saw a major increase in download speed. Before was about 15mbps, after was 19-25. Nice!

Wow, I'm jealous. I live in a major city and can't get 4g.

The second 2 test are with the edits. The rest are without them in an area I hardly have service
Edit
Holly crap
Just kidding. That's wifi.

You mean the speed test app is only sh owing OK servers? There are no settings to select LA look at settings change server in the app and hopefully LA will be selectable. If not there is nothing you can really do but hope something will work.

I wish I could get those kinds of speeds.
27gb and still going. Definitely could not use any other company with the amount of data I use.
Plus there's still 6 days left on that billing cycle.

Congrats!!!
*confused face*
Would you like a badge, I have never found a need for 27 gigs of 3g, but many have hit that mark before u.
If it was 100 or 75 gig that might take highest data useage I have seen, but 27 not so much
not to be a negative nancy
but my co worker got his sprint account terminated for going over 70gb on his 3g data plan.

Yeah I'll take a badge but only if you get a badge for being a smartass who can't figure out that this thread was for people to share their data usage if they wanted to.
I'm not trying to gloat or anything. Just sharing because I never usually use that much data at all. I do believe this was called the "General" section.

I would hope they would send a warning first but you are right I have heard similar stories from people. Unlimited isn't really unlimited.

What the hell are you doing to use that much data?!?! I don't even know how I would go about trying to use that much data. But for ****s and giggles I would love some pointers

What is wrong with you people I never tether and I consistently cross 25 gigs lmao
Untethered & untethered I was doing 10-12GB average. I can't see myself ever going past that. I average 8GB of data now with decent WiFi recently at home & work.
My biggest data hauls are ROM downloads (2 average 1.3GB) & data uploads.
Little streaming, never torrent, never tethered my game system to it.

Ha.. I can't get over 1.5gig or so in a month. The 3g speeds just don't allow it here.

This ^ . Off of Wi-Fi, no way I'd have a good enough reception to come anywhere close to that. I've hit a few gigs, never over 5 though. I don't understand how anyone could get to over 25g, let alone 70-100. <brain exploding>

I couldn't either , due to wicked slow 3g. But you'll notice OP screen shows bulk of data on 4g
hurled from my AOKP'd Evo LTE. Enjoy.

Ah so they're saying you're affecting network performance. Understandable. So when you get kicked off does it affect your credit?

I don't see why it would affect credit because its not like you're refusing to pay or anything like that. I could be wrong though.

I watch a lot of Netflix at work sometimes and have only gotten to around 13gb in a month.
