Has anybody else been having people call and it go straight to VM? Or losing data occasionally? I don't live in the greatest signal area, about -80 to -85 pretty consistent, but I would think that would be enough to maintain service? This is a new issue, it has only started in the last month or so. Is anybody else having these issues? It's not specific to my device, it also happens on my fiancee's D2. (used to be my old phone and is rooted) The main reason I ask is that I am wondering if it is specific to my area(or particular tower), or if it is something verizon is doing to the network.

Hey there,
I have had this issue since I got my hands on my Atrix but it still bugs me that the issue has never been fixed. Others also still have these issues, but I hope that with our talented devs, a fix can be found.
When connected to my home WiFi network, Internet works fine.
When I disable WiFi on my phone, Data won't reconnect and the H icon won't reappear.
When I walk away from my WiFi range, Data again doesn't reconnect like it should.
When using data, after a minute or two the Icon will start to show repeated attempts of uploading data when I click something, but will never download anything, causing my website or app to hang and eventually time out. This is oddly fixed by me going to my APN settings, editing Vodafone Australia (my internet apn) but not changing anything and then going settings > save. Causing data to disconnect and reconnect correctly. (most of the time)
This is very annoying. I can stay connected to data for a max of 5 minutes, and I know it's not the network as my friend with a GT540 Optimus can stay connected for hours at a time at the same place in the same conditions.
If any dev can help then it would be greatly appreciated (or if anyone knows of a fix), I am willing to help test anything created and also provide any logs that may help narrow down the issue (although I made need assistance in retrieving those logs as I've never tried) in addition, the mods used on my phone can be found below in my signature except the radio info which is 1.77.30P
You can contact me on this thread, PM or rarely in the freenode chat
Thanks for your time.

is there really nothing I can do to help? This issue alone is making me consider selling up and buying a SGS2 or Sensation, since I rely heavily on a constant data connection.
I guess my only option is to wait for CM7 and hope that fixes the issues I'm seeing..
Wifi connection at my house is a pain. It won't connect to it at all unless I go into the wifi settings menu and turn it on from there. I also have problems with it losing data connection when going into the Market or Navigation...which was pretty bad on my trip to Arkansas. I just thought it was my Atrix.
Personally, every Android phone I have owned has had glaring hardware/software issues EXCEPT my Inspire. I'm switching to Apple. *prepares to be flamed*

LOL, i won't flame you. Android vs iOS is the same argument as Windows vs MacOS.
It's a "Features" vs "Stability" trade off. Apple maintains better stability by cutting down features, locking things down and limiting usability <- not that hard to accomplish. Try to work in Windows 7 under non-admin account and without installing useless crap. You will be surprised as to how smooth and nice everything functions.
But for me, Android / Windows feature list wins by a large margin. I've only had one frustratingly buggy Android phone and it was a Droid 2 Global. Again, not Android's fault but Motorola's for releasing crappy software.
Anyway, if stability is your main goal, then iPhone is the phone for you
You might want to also try a Nexus phone (perhaps Nexus 3?). I've heard they are supremely stable. (never actually owned one )
p.s. I've seen a quote by someone on here, that half the fun from owning an Android phone is modding it. And for me that's 100% true.

Is that the right radio for your phone?
I thought the 30p was for AT&T only? Could this be your problem? You may need an international radio.
I know you have an unlocked AT&T, but I thought the radio was carrier specific, and not phone specific.
I could be wrong though. My wife tells me I am always wrong!

hmm that seems like a good idea, but can I even flash an international radio on an AT&T handset? Also Vodafone Australia uses the exact same frequencies that AT&T use except AT&T 4G is considered Vodafone 850.

Someone more technically minded with the Atrix will have to answer this. I thought the hardware was the same, so in theory flashing the wrong radio shouldn't do anything but give you data loss if it doesn't work. Then again, I am frequently wrong.

epic find. that's my post on an old user handle which I haven't bothered to change yes, I won this phone but so far it's been quite bugged. I originally thought that I was given a prototype/dev model since they shipped it before it was released but now I know that's not the case.
Hey guys,
Ive been having this issue for a little while now, my data connection (Telstra) seems to have trouble maintaining a stable connection.
I have no idea what could be happening (or not happening), but here is the problem...
If I wakeup my phone and try to use something that requires a data - it will not receive a connection. The work around for this is to disable the data connection (Settings > Mobile Networks > Use packet data - untick. Then re-enable data.
This seems to force the data to connect, and then it seems to work fine... until my phone/data is un-used for a while.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Anyone have a fix?
I had the same problem while on Gingerbread (2.3.3) aswell - prior to the ICS update.
Cheers.
I work for Telstra, and I can tell you that due to the upgrade to 4G, the towers are intermittently doing strange things, depending on where you are. Take out your battery and give it a minute, put it in and you should be right.
If a phone gets stuck between two towers it can be a pain in the arse.
Thanks for the reply gogogu.
Do you know how long these works have been going on for? I think I've been having this issue for as long as I've had this phone (around 1 year).
Being in Melbourne you probably got the start of it. So yeah, its a long term thing we just have to put up with. We have one of the fastest wireless infrastructure in the world so its worth it in my mind.
Even if you're not with telstra it still affects you!
I'm fairly new to messing about with my phones. I've only ever had pure Google devices up until this point. Now the crux of my current problem lies with the fact that the majority of my office building uses Verizon. So, while I get a solid 2-3 bars of LTE, actual use is basically impossible due to signal noise (-113db). With my previous phone I could force it into 3G abs I would get decent service. However the G3 does not have this option. Is there any way to accomplish this with the G3? I'm basically at my wit's end here.
Thanks,
Any luck?
I'm running into the same exact problem. Large office complex - everyone using Verizon. My phone just clocks when on 4G. Works great on 3G.
I performed the domestic unlock on my phone about 10 days ago, and everything has been good for the most part. I'm currently using the T Mobile MVNO, US Mobile. I'm located in Tampa, FL, and I have HSPA+ in most areas. I've noticed that if I travel into an area with weak signal strength, usually indoors, and and I lose service, my phone will not automatically come back into service when I return to an area that has stronger signal strength. I have to manually toggle airplane mode, and then it will pick it up. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I'm assuming it maybe has to do with not having the 1700/2100mhz band, but I haven't seen anyone else mention anything similar. It has happened to me on both the MI3 and MJ4 modems. If I go into my phones settings under status, "My Phone Number" says unavailable.
I understand that my phone is not designed to operate on TMobile, so it just might be the way it is. I just wanted to see if this is happening to everyone or just me. If anyone else has experienced a similar issue or has some insight into what might be going on, I'd appreciate it.
THE TL;DR
Verizon data in a specific area used to be solid, but now is practically nonexistent. I know it’s not gone entirely though, because I can maintain an LTE signal lock and use it if I exit the affected area, get an LTE signal lock, start the utorrent and begin downloading a [legal] torrent, and then re-enter the affected area. I’ve tested with friends, family and strangers over a series of devices - it’s not just me. Verizon says it’s heavy network usage which seems like BS. Please help.
THE FULL VERSION
THE PROBLEM
About a month ago the Verizon data service in the area that I live/work went from solid to almost nonexistent. The affected area is maybe a 2 to 3 mile circle it seems. I’ve had friends, family, and even strangers verify that it isn’t just me - they’re experiencing the same thing (wide range of devices.) Essentially, I can no longer get LTE in this area, and the 3G and 1x are even spotty (and horribly slow.) Veeery occasionally I will be able to get LTE to lock, but it drops almost immediately. Calling and SMS do not seem to be affected. Outside of this affected area, LTE service in the area seems to be unchanged. I’ve opened multiple tickets with Verizon -- they essentially told me that the network in my particular area is overloaded and this can’t be resolved until they build a new tower that covers the area (obviously that’s not going to happen anytime soon.) Although this might seem plausible, I’ve lived and worked in this exact location for the past 3 years, and only once has something similar happened previously (and I’d know because I’m a power user who doesn’t use a computer, and who uses LTE for internet exclusively.) The previous occurrence was in February this year, and the issue disappeared after about a week.
I do happen to live in a college town, so the network could be under some additional strain with the kids coming back, but I don’t believe admission is up appreciably from previous years, and I don’t know of any new living spaces that were built in the area that’s affected, so it seems that the network shouldn’t any more strained than it has been in previous years.
THE UTORRENT TRICK
If I move outside of the affected area and get an LTE signal lock, open utorrent, start downloading a torrent [legal only,] and then re-enter the affected area, the LTE lock will hold an I’ll be able to get the full LTE speeds almost as if the problem has been resolved. However, if I shut off utorrent, or if I toggle airplane mode while I’m in the affected area, the LTE signal lock is lost, and issue will persist (ie. I’ll only get 3G, 1x, or nothing at all.)
QUESTIONS
Can anyone explain what might be happening and why? Is it really that the network is under heavy load?
Why won’t my phone even find LTE while I’m in the affected area? It’s clearly still available if I can keep an LTE lock using the utorrent trick.
What causes the utorrent trick to work? It almost seems like the trick bypasses the network’s attempts to hide LTE from me in this particular area.
I’m rooted. Is there any way that I can force my phone to find and lock the LTE in the affected area? The 3G and 1x are essential unusable.
If I can’t force my phone to lock the LTE and stay on it, is there some other way to make my phone hold the signal once it has it *besides* using the utorrent trick?
Any insight would be much appreciated.
